WLV questions

Can anyone answer a few questions about the Villas at Wilderness Lodge?
#1 Do you check in at The Wilderness Lodge check in?
#2 I'm not sure what to request for a view, but i don't want a closed balcony, are these just on the 5th floor? What can i request do i don't get one of those? (I know its NOT guaranteed)
#3 Where do the boats from WL go? Is there one to Magic, Contemporary, Fort Wilderness or ??

1 yes you check in at WL

2 - just ask for the lake side, near the elevators are low as possible. or tell them you don't want the fifth floor...

3. there are 2 boats about the same size one goes to the MK, then other goes to FW, there is also a much smaller boat - it goes to the Cont, FW, WL...

This is probably going to sound like a really dumb question but what is a closed balcony?? What is the other option? We are planning a trip in July/August we have never stayed at WLV and this info would come in handy. Thanks, Laurie W

Closed balconies have a solid wall railing, so when you are sitting in the chairs on the balcony, you can't really see anything unless you sit up really tall and peak over the wall railing.

Click on this link: the closed balconies are the ones on the top floor, and the open balconies are the ones below the top floor.

I had always heard that pretty much all of the views at VWL are "woods", with the exception of the infamous dumpster view, so I did not make any request when we booked our trip for this past Christmas. We had a great view of the quiet pool, with lots of trees and the beach and lake just beyond it. AWESOME!!!!! I was not aware of the upper floor balcony thing, but I have to say I doubt it would have bothered us much as we did not sit out on the balcony at all. We loved VWL, it is one of our homes, and we look forward to staying there again. The boats are really fun and convenient!
