yes, 4037 is non smoking. the only smoking optional room at the wl are on the 6th floor in the northwing.
some info i got was that the rooms sizes were 340 square feet for queen/queen rooms. i would think that it would be the same for king rooms. but not sure. also, another idea is to get a queen/bunk bed room. the bunk beds are smaller therefore giving you more room.
if you still need some answers try and call the wl front desk, i did it the last time we went and they were most helpful. the number is 407-824-3200. you can tell them your requests or you can fax them your requests about 3 - 4 days out at 407-824-3232.
I think it is the south wing of the 5th floor that is the smoking part actually. The 6th floor is the top floor down the wings of the WL. The 7th floor is the concierge level and doesn't extend all the way down the wings like the other floors do. We stayed on the 5th floor and if we came up the elevator from the lobby you could tell that was where the smoking rooms were. But when we got to the north side where our room was you couldn't smell the smoke.
yes, you were correct in saying that, the 5th floor southwing used to be the smoking optional floor. but we just stayed at the wl, and we stayed on the 5th floor southwing. it is now non smoking. the wl changed it recently. i remember reading that they changed and i then called the front desk and they confirmed. smoking optional is now in the 6th floor north wing.
the 5th floor south wing is completely non smoking.
That's interesting. I can't understand why they would change it. Once a room has had smokers in it I don't think you could ever get the smokiness out of it unless you completely gutted the place and replaced literally everything. I know that if we were in a room that had been a smoking room for many years and then was changed to a non-smoking room just buy changing the sign my wife would certainly be able to tell and her allergies and asthma would be a problem. Both of my daughters have severe asthma too and I wouldn't be happy if my "non-smoking" room had EVER been a smoking room.
i don't know why the wl changed the location of the smoking rooms. maybe it was because smokers complained not having the woods view (castle), etc. i don't know.
i have allergies also, and i almost died when they assigned us a room on the 5th floor southwing, courtyard view. my husband was also leary. but the cm said the rooms were completely free of residual smoke. well, we tried it and you know, they were right, i don't know how they did it, they had to replace the carpet and bedding. but it was fine and we stayed. the whole floor smelled fresh. (i also remember walking up on that floor back in february when we were at disney and smelling smoke, that's why i was worried). but all was well.
but i don't blame you about your family, with my allergies, my throat even closes up sometimes. not fun stuff. that's why i always call and find out the status. i heard that disney was changing alot of their smoking optional room locations. i also heard that they are making more non smoking rooms. so be careful when you book a room.
