Hey everyone!

So I'm planning our honeymoon and exploring options. I think we've got it down to 4 options finally...lol.

But my favorite option is a room at the WL...

Can anyone help me out with info about their King Bed rooms...If I book there it will be woodsview. I'd like to avoid an accessible room and prefer an upper floor as opposed to 1st floor.

Any suggestions on how to land such a room. requests or even ideas if such a room exists?

Would love to hear your thoughts?

Cheers,
Josh

When we stayed at the WL in a king room we ended up in a 1st floor courtyard room. We requested a different room as it seemed far away they told us that there was nothing else available that night but to check back the next day but they would probably only have a HC room. We were already to change and then the Bell man brought our luggage and asked us how we liked out room. We shared our concerns with him and he said that that was one of the nicer king rooms and he had seen many of them. He said the HC rooms were not as nice so we decided to stay. In the long run we got used to our room and if we cut through the pool area we were fine as we were 3 steps from the pool bar but if you want a higher up room in the main building I am not sure if they can do that unless you get a honeymoon suite. Hope that helps… if you have any other questions just ask

We had a HA King Room with water view in January '05. (We did not request HA).

The room was on the 1st floor, facing the villas at the very end closest to the bus stop. We didn't have a decent view of anything.

When we checked in the CM at the front desk said, "Are you really sure you want that king room? - We have many beautiful Queen Rooms overlooking the courtyard." Anyway, we didn't take the hint and landed room 1130. What a disappointment!!

I would absolutely hate for honeymooners to get stuck with the room we had. It is not a good way to start your marriage.

We had a king room last November, woods view, first floor, HC. We honestly didn't mind the accessible shower. I thought the room was a little larger to accommodate a person using a wheelchair or ECV.

We had room 4137 (or 4173 I cannot remember) and it was right over the lobby with a killer view of the water, pool, geyser and the stream. It had a big king bed and desk, chair, it was a perfect stay

The handicapped accessible rooms with the roll in showers are almost always exactly the same size as the 'queen' rooms. The space is arranged differently to make space in the bathroom for the roll in shower. To make the bathroom bigger, the bedroom area is actually smaller (they have to 'take' the space from somewhere). The King size bed is used because it would be more difficult to have space for a wheelchair to move around with 2 queen beds. The single King bed gives the optical illusion that the room is larger.

I don't mind the Handicapped Accessible room....the beds are the same height as opposed to the regular rooms right?.....I mainly prefer NOT to be on the 1st floor.

Anyone know the numbers of some rooms on upper floors?

Cheers,
Josh

When I stayed at WL, I got exactly what the OP is trying to avoid - a ground floor king bed woods view room that was handicapped assessible. And honestly, I wished I avoided that room, too! It faced the otter pond, which was cute, but was directly next to the infamous loading dock. I so wished I had a real balcony, as I felt somewhat uncomfortable on the ground floor so close to that dock. I booked a standard view room and never requested a king, so I was surprised to get one. But overall I just didn't like that room - just a bad location. But they wouldn't switch me - they were very booked and since I was staying solo, I had to be assigned a king bed since the doubles were being saved for families who needed them. So nowhere to switch me to. :(

I think the room was number 1032 or 1034 or something around there - it was right near the elevator banks near Roaring Forks. So flee if you hear those numbers! I may be staying at WL again in January, and if they try to give me that room again - I will fight it tooth and nail!! :faint:

We just had a courtyard view HA room in August. The bed is not the same height as other rooms. It is MUCH lower as expected for a handicapped room. My friend has stayed numerous times (10+) at the WL with a party of two and she has found that by requesting the need for a tub in her room she has avoided getting a handicapped accessible room. So give it a try! Hope you have a great honeymoon!

::yes::
It is wheelchair seat height to make transfers easier.
The assumption is that someone who needs a roll in shower probably will also need to have some other features that make the room accessible to a person who needs to use a wheelchair to get around.

Just a bump to see if anyone has any suggestions for King Rooms at the WL. Preferably non Handicapped Accessible and on an upper floor.

Would love to hear more thoughts!

Sigh, I wish I could afford that one! It seems so nice but I called and the rate was a bit steep for my budget...

I just wish I knew of some rooms that fit my request

The only king room I've had at WL was also HA, but I thought it was in a great location. It was on the first floor, either the first or second room on the right past Roaring Forks, facing the main courtyard. It was really convenient for refillable mugs, convenient for the boats and the pool, and I enjoyed the larger bathroom space. Since it was kind of in a corner, the patio felt a little more private, even if it was on the first floor.

All the other rooms I've stayed in have been either 2 queen or 1 queen/bunks.
