We awoke the next moring ready to begin our WDW vacation. After a very good continental breakfast at the hotel, we packed the car with all of our belongings(or so we thought) and headed over to Epcot. More on the belongings later.
DH had never been to Disney before. He comes from a large family, so he had never really been on a vacation like this. I had been on several trips to WDW with my grandmother and sisters, but this was the first time I would be doing what I (and DH) wanted to do. I don't think I can put into works how excited we were as we parked the car in the Epcot parking lot.
We had to upgrade our passes because I didn't factor in the last day we would be visiting the parks. The CMs at guest services were great and all was good.
The last time I had been to Epcot TT was not there. I figured this should be our first stop. DH and I practically ran to TT, and were met with a short line. DH was fascinated with all the car stuff inside. They had a Tahoe just like ours, so DH was inspecting all the stuff under the hood. We also chatted with the people in front of us. They are originally from our neck of the woods in PA and, it was nice to talk about home. TT was great, and we rode it about eight more times during our trip. We did several other rides, including SE. This has always been one of my favorites. We made our way to The Land and did the boat ride. Next stop, Body Wars. This is where DH met up with his buddy motion sickness. He would play a feature role in the rest of our vacation.
Simulator rides have never bothered me. When we exited the ride, DH said he didn't feel well and needed to use the rest room. I sat on a bench and waited and waited. Finally DH reappeared. He didn't look too good, but wanted to keep going. We headed outside and got a Coke and some chips. DH thought that if he had something in his tummy he would feel better. This wasn't the case. We did some other stuff, then decided to check in at the WL. We also bought the bride and groom pins. It was too hot for the hats, so the pins seemed like a better idea.
When we arrived at the WL, I knew I had made the right choice. DH loved it from the beginning. We were upgraded to a room with a lake view, and proceeded to go up and unpack. Bring on mini meltdown number one.
I decided to call home to my DS and check on the dog and cat. When I got my DS, she told me that a very close friend of my little DS died the night before in a terrible car accident. Little DS had been home from NC and had seen and talked to her friend before the accident. She was a mess. The friend had been an on again, off again bf, so she was taking this really hard. I began to cry, feeling guilty that I was not there for my sister, but in WDW having a great time. After a phone call to my sister, I knew she was with our family, and she would be alright. I collected myself, and DH and I headed back to Epcot. I hate to say it, but we kind of had a black cloud over our heads for the rest of the trip.
Back in Epcot we concentrated on TT(again) and wandered over to the WS. DH and I hadn't had anything since our lunch earlier in the day, and I had not made a PS for dinner that night. After weighing our options, DH thought Chinese food sounded like a good idea. I was kind of worried that this might make him really sick, but he assured me that he'd be ok. A side note, DH does not throw up. He just felt sick for the entire trip. I kind of wished he'd throw up, and maybe that would make him feel better.
Dinner at Nine Dragons was excellent. I have since read some not so good reviews about this place, but everything we had was wonderful. We ate and relaxed in a very peaceful atmosphere. We were also able to see the ToD parade from our seats.
We skipped Illuminations b/c we had both had a rather long, emotional day. After heading back to our room, my DH offered to go the the car and get my pillows and blanket. Ok, I know that a 27 year old should not have to sleep with a blanket, but I've had the thing since I was 11, and I love it. It's been washed more times than I can think about, it's been chewed by the dog, and it has huge gaping holes in it. I could wear it as a poncho if I wanted. Anyway, DH returns a few minutes later to tell me that my pillows and blanket are not in the car. I searched the room, but they weren't there. Bring on mini meltdown two.
Maybe it was because of all the stuff going on at home, I don't know. I just freaked out. I began thinking my precious blanket was on its way to a dumpster somewhere, and I would never see it again. My pillows. My luxury item that I cannot live without. Solid foam pillows (at almost $50 each) gone with the blanket. DH did what he does so well. He made me calm down and call the Country Inn. The poor woman who answered the phone must still be telling the story of the grown woman who freaked about her pillows and blankie. She told me no one from housekeeping had turned in anything to her, but the housekeeping closet was locked. I would have to call in the morning to see if they were there.
Thinking I'm going to have a sleepless night, I got ready for bed. The phone rang, and it was the woman from the CI. She had located my pillows and blankie. I assured her I would be there first thing in the morning to get them(DH said there was no way we were going that late at night).
Knowing that I would have my sleep stuff first thing in the morning, I finally fell asleep.
Coming next, part three. DH and his motion sickness monkey, dinner with the fishes, and the best darn orange juice in Orlando.
