WL Honeymoon or GF Turret Honeymoon?

Ok here is the situation. Right now we are booked two nights at WL in a honeymoon suite and then we have our land and sea cruise (3 nights at BC) and we are going to do one more night at WDW after the cruise to have one last MK day before we go home. What would be better, because of budget we can do the 2 nights at WL and then the last at AKL or someting in that range or we could do the 2 nights at GF and then the last night we would have to stay at a value resort. We would also be unable to upgrade to coincerge at BC while on or land stay if we do GF to even out the cost. So since everyone here has helped so much so far any ideas to make our honeymoon the most memorable and what would you choose. Thanks for all your insight

Do not get your hopes up on a GF Turret room, there are only 6 of those rooms. Out of those 6 only 3 face the MK/Lagoon, out of those 3 there is only 1 that has the great view, and that is the one on the top floor. They are considered honeymoon dlx rooms, which is more $ than honeymoon. There is no way of a guarantee on these rooms or even a specific room. A request is not a gurantee, espically since this is the most requested room. I would not plan your honeymoon around a turret room, but instead plan on which resort you would like to spend your honeymoon at. The chances of getting that specific room are very slim. The other 3 turret rooms are in the front of the GF, they are over the gift shop and overlook the GF monorail station.

I have checked availabilty and the turret room is available for the dates we need. The view is not a huge concern but a nice view is always wanted I guess.

The turret room is by "request-only" and is within the Honeymoon Concierge room category. So, it is not a category in and of itself. There are a total of 15 Concierge Honeymoon rooms, all located in the main building. As gonga posted, there are only six "turret" rooms, however.

The remaining 9 Concierge Honeymoon rooms are located on the 2nd floor of the main building and are set up more like a regular room but with a king bed, small sitting area and jacuzzi tub. These rooms have a castle view.

The request for the turret style room is very popular. So, if you go into booking that room category with the expectation that you may not get the turret style room, you won't be disappointed.

Good luck with your decision and happy planning. :)

Is the extra day after the land/sea vacation a locked in thing? What I mean is, do you have your airfare all set? Just asking, because we've done the extra day at MK after the cruise and it's not something that we'd ever do again. Especially if you're going to be at WDW beforehand anyway.

I'll just give you some of the downside as we experienced it. We were off the ship by 8am (pretty typical) and at the GF by 9:15am. Initially, I thought we'd want to go right into the park and spend the day there. In reality, we were so relaxed from the cruise and tired from being up so early in the morning, that we just wanted to stay at the resort. As luck would have it, our room was not ready until the official check in time of 3pm. Taking into consideration the cost of a concierge honeymoon room and the likely chance that you will not get one of the 6 turret rooms or even be in your room before 3pm, I would upgrade the beginning of your vacation and either go with a value on the last day, cancel it entirely, or stay down at Cape Canaveral in a hotel on the beach. With a value or a beach hotel, you're still running the risk of not having a room for 6 hours.

we are driving so we don't have to worry about flights, just an 20 hour drive home which we have 4 days to complete after out last day at the park. We will have done all the parks before hand so we just want the chance to go back to MK before we head back.

And thank you for clarifying the honeymoon rooms at GF. The CM we had on the phone at CRO must have been mixed up so i'm going to phone back. We don't really care about the turret room (but I'm syre in would be nice), more about staying at GF (been along time dream of my fiance but i've stayed there before in the conceirge level) but WL is also so appealing to us and we loved the atmosphere there when we went resort hopping last year. Thank you so much everyone for all your info

How about getting a Garden View room at the Grand Floridian? We've had them, and enjoyed them very much. Very nice views. We had one in Conch Key with a marina view, and one in Sago Cay with a view of the monorail.

I'd stay at the GF and then do the value resort for your last day, or just stay offsite, maybe Downtown Disney.

If you call back, the room code that Disney would enter into their booking system would be BP for the Honeymoon Concierge room. Most of the CRO agents I've spoken with weren't aware that there are actually two types of rooms within that category.

Thanks Misti, I will try that code when I call.

I think I might look into a garden view as well but I really like concierge and only wish to stay onsite but thanks Sherri (the only off site resort I would like to stay is The Grand Cypress and It's not cheap). I have also thought about staying at Wildeness as booked and then after the cruise just do one night at GF. There is just endless choices but I wish I had an endless budget. The good point i remembered by reading the threads of what others are doing is that I forgot about our tax returns and we both decided to but it towards our honeymoon today so all that will help and let us do a little extra. I can wish for an at par deal again (cause we are canadians and I saved a bundle last year) and we could go next winter (2006) as well and then stay at GF. oh boy now I'm thinking to much!

The GF honeymoon room is expensive, but it was a long time dream of mine as well. I didn't care what honeymoon room type it was, but the idea of being in the main building concierge of the GF for my honeymoom...ahhh. If you are only staying one night after your cruise (so you're doing a move anyway), one night at the GF may be nice. You mention really wanting WL too, but sounds like you already have that planned before the cruise.

My only other thought is that it sounds like you are going to be doing a lot of moving around. 2 nights WL, 3 nights BC, cruise, 1 night somewhere. After a wedding, you might enjoying staying put. Have you considered staying at the same place for the entire first 5 nights?

In the end, it is what is your and your fiance's dream of a honeymoon. No matter what anyone here recommends, you have to look to what appeals to you. You don't want any regrets because you were talked into or out of something.
