Curious how/if this situation might work, if it does.

We have a Sept UY, all 2015 UY points already banked. I'm looking to book something in July 2016, so I'd have to borrow 2016 points.

If I book a studio now, because that's all that's available, can I WL a 1br without borrowing the points ahead of time - and MS would automatically borrow more points to fulfill the 1br if it becomes available.?

Thanks

Yes. Nothing extra will be borrowed for the 1 bedroom unless the waitlist fills.

Can I do the 7 day WL?

I'm a little confused on why there's a 7 day and 30 day variety. I get the 30 day - so you can essentially cancel without penalty. But if I'm going for sure, why wouldn't I pick the 7 day WL?

In the case where it requires more points and you are definitely going then do the 7 days.

The issue comes up if you are waitlisting for a lower point room such as going from a 1BR to a studio. Then if the waitlist were to fill at 30 days or less the difference in points would go into holding. If you're going again and think you could use the points that's not the worst thing either but if you have no plans to go again before the end of your UY then you might end up losing points when you could have just enjoyed the larger accommodations.

I think I have 11 contracts over 4 resorts (it's 11 or 12). How does MS decide which contract to borrow from if the WL matches and the reservation needs more points?

You select it when you make the waitlist reservation.
