Wk Of Sept 8 - WISH Walking/Running Club

I can see it now-

I'll get a call from my daughter's second grade teacher (who sings in our church choir, by the way) that my child fell asleep in class on Monday morning after the race. I'll be sputtering through an explanation involving WISH and Dead Last Finish and riding Tower of Terror over and over... and the AEROSMITH concert that started at midnight... :rolleyes1 Would that be a good time to mention I'm keeping her out of school for at least the Monday after the Marathon?! :rotfl:

Good news- finished my 3 miles today so I got to fill in my day in GREEN on my training calendar. And tomorrow is a rest day-- sweet!

Jen in GA

I can see the look on your DD's teacher's face now!! Mine is gonna be similar, except I'll have to add in that we also spent all day Saturday and Sunday at Universal Studios riding Roller Coasters!! Then I have to tell them we are leaving the He is missing the Thursday and Friday before the Marathon and at LEAST the Monday afterwards!! We have to get there early because DS6 is running the 5k on Friday, and I refuse to get in a car and drive all the way home (3 hours) after running a marathon so we aren't coming home until Monday, and may just stay a few extra days for the heck of it!!

Wasn't Steven Tyler in the Christmas episode of Disney's Lizzie McGuire TV show?

Steven Tyler is wrapped up in all things Disney!! He vacations there quite a bit too. About 3.5 years ago we had taken DS (now6) for his 3rd birthday and we were riding Splash Mountain. I had seen Steven Tyler get off of one of the logs as we were in line waiting to get one. Whoever he was riding with stayed on to go again. When we did our one trip and got off we went down to look at our pictures, and there he was standing there like he was just a regular person. I was playing with DS while DH was looking at our pictures and Steve Tyler kept watching us play and was smiling at us. I wouldn't say anything to him because I didn't want to interrupt his trip or risk drawing attention to him, but a couple seconds later someone started trying to get his pictures and some Disney CM's came out a door and led him away! That is my one and only celebrity sighting EVER!! And Steven Tyler was smiling at ME!!

Is this real???!!! I'm refusing to believe.

Seriously?????!!!

Dana - I am so jealous! I've been on a mission to see that man out & about for years. He has a house on the same lake we do - everyone in the family has seen him around town, but me. His parents are in the nursing home about 2 miles from my house. He is seen in the grocery store buying his mom flowers. My mom has seen him in the halls of the hospital where she works. An old co-worker's best friend was his nanny. I swear there's a conspiracy for me not to bump into him! :rotfl:

I would probably not even say hi - just think it would be neat, is all!

Vicki, we are just reading the sign, and Robert's source is not denying it:

Who would be the perfect band for that event to play right next to the Rocken Rollercoaster?

This is DisneyWorld, the band is going to be a good one. They can afford anyone they want.

Of course they didn't put the name of the band in the information, there would be a lot of party crashes if they did. So keeping it hush?

Disney has promised some special surprises for this first ever event. You really think they are not thinking AeroSmith for the party?

But it's all part of the mystery of the twilight zone theme.

Oh man! I'ts not confirmed?
Way to pee on my parade... :sad1:

It's probably some Aerosmith cover band.

Wow. That will be a once in a lifetime! Do you think Disney will announce it at all or just surprise racers and families the night of?

You're right, though. It could happen. I just don't want to get my hopes up (or my 11 year old's hopes up!) and be wrong. I know Disney could do it, but still..........why would they put that much effort into another race seeing as RFTT and the Minnie aren't exactly wait-listing and TOT is a similar type of race. I really, really, REALLY, want it to be true! How cool would it be???!!!!!!!!!

We'll be enjoying the race no matter what! I'm counting down the days (or should I say nights :) )

Yep Erica and I are hoping just like you. But doesn't it seem odd that they are not giving out the name of the band, you know they have it lined up. Unless it's to keep from having a security problem of party crashers.

Disney is not run by dumb people, if they have a party with a band like AeroSmith then the Disney races will be filling up even faster and what better way to fill the parks during the slow seasons.

We are getting a new camera to be ready. Of course you know Robert and I will ask about a WISH meet with the mystery band after the show. All they can do is say no, but sometimes you get lucky, like we did when we asked for a longer finish time for this event.

Dave - can you have them sing happy birthday to me while you are at it? ;)

Well you all know how to get my heart going on a rest day! That would be infinitely cool! Now I'm worrying if I should go ahead and buy party tickets for the 2 of us who aren't running. If word of this got out....

I can just see all the WDW news sites citing an "unnamed source" on this. Seems like Disney has a hard time keeping a secret.

You know, on their "official" website, they only list tour dates up to September 26th.... popcorn::

Good point about RFTT and Minnie. Then again, Disney scheduled the ToT for a couple weeks after RFTT and while BOTH the ToT 13K and the 6.5K have sold out completely, the RFTT, which has been open longer, is only up to like 70% full. (I don't know how many participants there are for each event though.) Now, maybe its the pull of a night run, just something new (but the marathon goes through MGM and wasn't the marathon weekend 5K at MGM last year too) or maybe people down there are expecting something "special" at this. Hey, I am new to all this and don't know anything. What ever happens, I plan on having fun.

Yep you know with all the people signed up or this event there are plenty who are trying to find out for sure.

Funny how quick this one filled up, like someone said the Minnie and the RFTT never filled up like this. Think maybe some people had an idea that there might be surprises?

No, I think they heard you were going to be there.

;)

OK WWDave, I'm really sorry as I have been trying not to post this. But, as the day has gone on I really feel compelled to do this for the benefit of all the WISHers out there.

So, were you thinking of Steven Tyler while in the co-ed shower this morning?
