Hi, everyone!
Welcome to all our new WISH teammates!
Sunny -- I am soo glad you have been feeling better
Carrie and Judy and others who have returned from trips -- welcome back! Sounds like everyone has been having fun!
The training that everyone has been reporting is so impressive.

So appreciative because you continue to inspire me.
I am soo sorry I have been MIA. Totally swamped with work while in CA though getting on the internet every morning at 5 or 5:15 am to catch up and then coordinate with my office made it less offensive than missing park time.

Even with all that time spent on work last week, catching up has been a HUGE undertaking. To top things off, I had a migraine Saturday night and Sunday and horrible sinus pain. Yesterday got worse with severe stomach cramping, nausea, vomiting and dizziness. (sorry TMI!) Marginally better today.
Not much to report since the DL 1/2 unless you count stuffing my face as cross-training. Yes, in the space of 10 days, I managed to gain 5 pounds! I am now working to counteract that continuous binge, but how could I resist all the great food at Napolini's, Blue Bayou and Storytellers Cafe, beignets at Brennan's Jazz Express, lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, tigger tails, etc., etc.?
The 1/2 was fabulous in many ways and horrendous in others. I had less than an hour of sleep and relied very much on a Tab Energy drink, sport beans, 2 energy bars, powerade and water stations. I LOVED everyone's comments on my shirt -- of course the comments came as people passed me.

The hills were more than I expected and the crowds were unbelievable at the back of the pack. There were seconds I fantasized about how one goes about dropping out during a race, but I didn't want to let myself or my WISH team buddies down. I learned alot about giving your body time to adjust to a 3-hour time change, and to getting enough sleep. Hopefully, I will remember all that in January (and yes, Anne reminded me to stretch and the stretching really helped with my hip/hamstring issue). Thanks, Anne!
All that being said, the "bling" was certainly worth it, but I don't anticipate we will be travelling to the West coast to do the event again, especially since it will be Labor Day weekend next year and that is DD's birthday.
So, DL having been my last significant "training" session, I'll share how it went:
My Garmin says I went 14.36, but I know it was 13.36, because I saw it skip a mile as I was looking at it. So, assuming with weaving I really did go 13.36 in 3:24:15, my pace was 15:17. Not much of a cushion, but I am glad it was fast enough on the day that it mattered.
My splits:
Mile 1 14:44
Mile 2 14:09
Mile 3 15:04
Mile 4 14:51
Mile 5 14:51
Mile 6 15:42
Mile 7 15:55
Mile 8 15:46
Mile 9-10 26:46 (avg. 13:23) (this is where my Garmin went kerflewey)
Mile 11 18:50 ???? not sure this is right
Mile 12 15:54
Mile 13 16:05
Last .36 5.35 (15:36 pace)
We did a LOT of walking around the parks last week and other places we went sightseeing, but my first real training since the 1/2 was 50 minutes at the gym tonight. 15:04 mile on the treadmill with an incline of 1.5 for part of it, and then 35 minutes on bike doing hill training. I am convinced that hill training willl help condition me for the FULL.
Well, I am off to return phone calls and then to bed early, hoping I'll wake up feeling much better.
Love you guys!
