Wk Of Oct 14 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Terri - Good luck!!!

Melissa - You have teh most adorable family!!!!

Krista - I'm still sad. I'll forgive you, though. However, one of these days I'm coming by and stealing all your heels! They are evil!

Renee - Hope the interview went well!

Mike - I'm sorry. Nothing personal. I just figured you and DAve would be the only 2 guys who would take me up on it. Not sure how dh would feel about that one. ;)

Christa - I can't belieev you'll be there and you'r e not running! Can you team up with another WISHer adn at least get tix for teh post-race party?

ANgie - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I got in a 9-mile mid week LR this morning. I work from home on Wednesdays which makes it easy to get in a little LR during the week.
Finished in 1:26:46 for a 9:26 pace. Not too bad. I have been trying to slow down a bit because I think this is a pace I can handle for the upcoming Philly Marathon.

Renee - good luck on the job interview!

Terri - Good luck in SF!

Angie - Congrats on the #2 rating. Yes, I can see being a bit nervous about Thursday night. It will be a tough game at Rutgers but your Bulls should be able to pull out a win. Rutgers isn't the team they were last year but there will be a lot of screaming red fans off of Exit 9 of the NJ Turnpike tomorrow. Good Luck!

Lou

Melissa - Oh what a great picture! What a cute smile! :goodvibes Oh and....well, I'd say what a hunka-hunka burning love you got there but I've been accused of being a porcine type farm animal when I make those sort of comments. :rolleyes1
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Cam - Great job on the running!!! I notice that I can r/w intervals as fast as I flat out run too!!!

Renee - How'd the interview go?

I am SO bummed. After waiting all week to run today, I get to work this morning and my ankle is hurting. As the day went on it hurt worse. I kept telling myself it was nothing and I was going to run anyway, but by 3:00 it was obvious that I'd be making a big mistake if I ran. So I did the responsible thing and came home instead of going to the park. I'm headed out with the dog for a walk to keep from being incredibly depressed. :sad1:

Hello, WISHers!

Thanks for the PD; the interview went well and I should know before leaving for ToT! Luckily the hours won't cut into my training too much -- I'll just have to run later in the day (thank goodness it's getting a bit cooler).

Jackie - So sorry about the ankle! Take care of it and take the time you need.

Monte - Snowshoe races?!? Holy cow! That sounds pretty tough.

Terri - Good luck!

Happy training, all!
Renee

Hellllooooooo from Tallahassee.

Spending a few days here on important police business. :rolleyes1

Just a quick drive through. Got in 3 miles this morning before hitting the road.

Terri - Good luck!

To all of the sick and injured - Take care of yourselves and get well soon.

All - Keep up the great training!

:)

My goodness..now that I'm back to work I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the posting! I'll try to get in to read before I go to bed...but now...off to the grocery store. My BF is out riding for Bike Night in Cleveland and I know he'll be starving when he gets home. I'm thinking pork and mashed potatoes. YUMMM!

BTW...ran my 4 out on the rail trail and my legs feel like mush. Now I know why speed work is so important!! Hope you guys have had a great night!

Evening All

Tomorrow I'm off to Orlando for a conference. I'm staying at the Swan and my plan is to get 14 on Saturday or Sunday. I was also supposed to give everyone a weather report at 9:30 pm Saturday, but right now the forecast for that time isn't very favorable. They're calling for low 90's, so I suspect it would be around 80 and humid as can be. If that is the case I suspect the 14 isn't going to happen. This is one time I'd like to carry the New England weather with me for a long run.

I do think I'm making good progress with nice training and no injuries. Today I was on our indoor track and ran 2.5 miles as a warm up. I then changed direction and jumped into 5K, running mile 1 in 8:44 and finishing the distance in 26:05 or 8:23 per mile. I'm really pleased with my strength at the end, running the last half mile in 3:55.

It wasn't a race, and I wasn't carrying a chip or running in a pack, but this is my 5K-post age 47 return to running PR. And since the distance was precise, I'll gladly take it.

Here's hoping for a coolish and comfortable evening on October 27. I'll have a weather report when I return.

Best to all.

Craig

Ok so I finally got my 5 miler in - but it ended up turning out to be a 6 miler. It was on the TM and was mostly walking with a little running thrown in there for good measure. I could feel my shin splint when I first started out so I decided to walk most of it. I am afraid I am getting too use to my TM though and won't be able to make the 8 miles outside. I am sure going to miss watching a movie as I am doing it!!! LOL That is the reason I did 6 instead of 5 - I watched Evan Almighty. Total time for the 6 miles was just over 90 mins (I think it was 93 and some odd seconds.) And here I didn't really feel like doing the 5 miler so I am proud of myself for doing MORE then I had planned.

Should I be worried that most of my training lately has been on the TM and not outside? Its just that lately I haven't been feeling up to running in the AM and I don't like running in the dark and its too hot when I get home from work to run outside (well it has been cooling off but not really THAT much!!! :scared:

melr--need a place to crash on the 27th? We'll be in Orlando--want me to send you a house key?;) Great pic btw!

Well, I had planned a 5-7 mile tempo run today at the gym after my shift. BUT, the lady who relieves me was, oh, let's say at least an hour late--and my kids had had enough of the daycare by then. That and I had to run to the party store and get DH a costume for MNSSHP--he got green with envy over my pirate get-up, so I got him the Capt, Jack costume. Gonna try to get the 5 miles done tomorrow after dropping DD off at school and before CardioTennis--we'll see what actually happens! I feel like I am going to be SO unprepared for Disney in Jan.

Good Evening Team

I can't possibly catch up from the beginning of the week so I will start with this evening:

Renee I'm glad that the interview went well!!!
Beth I hope your run went well tonight and that your ankle held up!
Judy I love reading your posts, they make me happy. I'm glad that you are right on track with training, and I complete understand your COUNTING DOWN, I drive my kids CRAZY :rotfl: with that!!!
TERRI LOTS OF :wizard: :wizard: Hope it went well!!!
Lou Sounds like a good pace to me, can't wait till I get back to that. 4 weeks from today I go under the knife :scared1: I'm scared to death but I keep focusing on getting back to my serious training!! Thanks for the well wishes tomorrow night. My BULLS are actually acknowledged (in a very small place) on the front of sports illustrated tomorrow!!
Jackie Lots of pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: I TOTALLY understand your frustration. I AM SO SORRY. I truly help it's better tomorrow.
Vic Hope you are keeping the streets of my state's capital safe!!
Craig I am jealous that you are going to Orlando for conference! Your times are awesome. The forecast for Saturday night is not good, warm front coming through, but end of next week is finally going to "cool off" High - 85 Low - 65 That's what we here in Florida call a COLD FRONT!!:woohoo:
Eva My goal after my surgery is MINNIE 15k, I did it last year and it was a blast, so we will see you there!!!:yay:
Stephanie I hope you get your run in tomorrow. PESKY COWORKERS!! (and kids who get sick of daycare :rotfl: )
Tricia Good job on the 6. As an ex- treadmill runner I can say (as I'm sure you know) there is a huge difference running outside than TM. BUT living in FL I know how brutal the heat is so at this point I would say that it's good that you are just TRAINING!!!

Sorry for anyone else I missed, I have to go to bed.

By the way, TRAINING REPORT:

I RAN , I RAN
I ran 4 miles @ 10 min pace with DH tonight. Considering the pain I am battling I am very happy with that. :woohoo: My biggest concern with my lack of training and injury, is that all that i worked so hard to accomplish last year will just be gone, so tonight was just what I needed.

Ok, I am a bad, bad girl. I am freaking out about how I am getting everything done before we leave for The World on Saturday. I am pretty sure I am going to bag my 8 miler today in favor of packing, and trying to get over this cold thing. I also have to get my allergy shots today and am not allowed to exercise for 2 hours afterwards - so that puts a huge kink in my afternoon as well.

And ya know, shouldn't I be tapering or something for ToT? ;)
Kind of weird to be scheduled for an 8 miler one week prior to a race. :confused3

Gotta run and do some preparing for my trip - lists, lists & more lists! :faint:

Well...I never did get back in here last night before bed. The BF got home and we ended up watching The Reaping (although I fell asleep like most nights we try to watch a movie). I'm sure I'll watch the rest of it tomorrow. So...now for some catching up...

Krista - I know...I like to say fartlek...lol!!! My dad used to run marathons when I was young and I always laughed and laughed at that when he'd say it! :rotfl2:

Melissa - You guys look like such a fit and healthy family. Such a nice change from how most kids are growing up these days!!! Oh and I love that pirates shirt...I almost bought the adult version for myself last time.

Krista - I have not been able to wear heels lately either. What's up with that?? I need to go find a new pair that are stylish and comfy. I've always had good luck with Steve Madden and Kenneth Cole Reaction.

Monte - Snow!!! I love it...but I HATE HATE HATE driving in it!!!

Renee - YAY! for the good interview!!

Craig - You are super fast! I'm really trying on working on getting my times up for now since I don't have a race planned in the near future. What kind of speed training to you do...strides, intervals, pace...??

Angie - I wasn't going to plan on a May trip because I'm broke and the BF and I are going to Vegas in Feb....BUT I had to register for the Minnie since it's the last time I'll get the chance. See you there!! BTW...congrats on the 4 miles...that's great!!

Kristi - I can see the excitement in your typing and it's making me want to pack and get ready for something!! Ugh..I'm jealous!!!

OK all...off to the gym! Have a good one and I'll try to stop in after work!!

Kristi - I don't know much about taper and all that (since I am a new runner/walker) but I also have an 8 miler planned for Saturday (I am following Hal Higdon's 15k plan) so I might cut it down to 7 miles. I read in the Complete Book of Running (by Runner's World) that you should taper for a 5k or 10k 4 days prior to race. So I think if your doing the 8 miler before Mon or Tues you should be ok (but what do I know) That is my plan anyway.

The ToT is a race? I thought it was a mobile party that was gonna last a whole weekend.

It's storming here this morning. We have been in drought conditions and we are about 15" low on the rain fall charts. Our farm crops have been a desaster this year. Watering lawns has even been banned. I hope the hard rain stops long enough for my walk, then it can start again, or I'll be banished to the treadbeast at the gym.

I had a dream last night that Erica was doddling the whole course of the ToT and we ended up so far in the back that we couldn't even find the course. Then we had vicious dogs in a mini van chasing us through the woods. No more rice cakes before bed for me.:upsidedow

Have an awesome day y'all.

Too funny! Judy, I ran with Phil during WDW this year......He got me to mile 20 then LEFT me in the dust....:confused3 :lmao: :confused3

Yeah, sorry I am not running...DH and I went back and forth on this one, but we both thought it would be best not to run....He is very supportive of my obsession....uh, I mean exercise....but I had to respect his WISHes this time on not running and staying with the family.:upsidedow

OOOOH, I gotta go! Catch up later!

Melissa, yeah, the H2O bottle is bigger than her body!:rotfl:

Dave:hippie:

Heck yeah its a race - its a race to the Rock N Roller coaster so I can ride over and over and over and over and over and over and over and.......
