Wk Of Oct 14 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Helen - Hooray for finishing the 5K! :woohoo:

Cam - Hooray for RUNNING the 5K! :yay:

Kristi - Just make sure you remember to watch... we knew the launch was happening in June when we were there, then completely forgot about it. We walked out of World of Disney and everyone was staring at the sky - we had missed the shuttle by about 30 seconds!

MSDave - Welcome back! Good luck at MCM. I've been eavesdropping on the MCM thread - your DC run sounded like so much fun. When we were there last summer I wished I had my running gear so I could run on the mall.

Tomorrow's the big day - first run in 8 weeks. I'm thinking maybe 2 miles at 2R/2W? I can't believe how excited I am - I actually turned on the Garmin tonight to make sure it was still charged! Now I've got to go find all my running clothes since I'm planning to go straight from work to the park.

Jackie

Cam - BTW, many of us here have gone from r/w to full run just to realize that we're slower that way. Welcome to the ranks of runners! :D

Dave, Helen, LLP - Good to see you!!!!

Krista - :( My party's not good enough for you or you heard my ILs will be there?

Kristi - You are booking! Wow.

Moonie - I so know how that goes!!!

Beth - A report of 5 miles and good is great! Way to go!!!

Jen - Get some rest. Feell better soon! :wizard:

Mel - You know I feel your TM pain. Not looking forward to returning to teh TM, which will likely be soon. :(

FYI - FOr those of you who remeber anythign about my ILs, please forget it ToT weekend. ;) I am actually glad they are doing MNSSHP with us and made ressies fo them with us at CP, where my favorite bear will be. They really need a fun trip adn I'm hoping they will feel the magic, even without young kids. FIL is still not 100% recovered from last year's adventures adn has a hard time getting around, although he refuses to get a scooter fro WDW. So, a little PD that they find teh WDW magic on their frist trip on tehir own. ALso, if you see tehm with me, please pretend I never said anything bad. :D

Well, had yoga tonight. Not sure if I'm posted that I'm doing that. I lOVE it!! So relaxing and refreshing. Plus, wonderful stretches that should help my short-comings. lol. ;) (FOr those that don't know me as well, in MArch I started getting nerve pain and in July they found out that one leg is 3/4 inch shorter than the other. Mostly fixed with a heel lift, but needs extra care)

Wow. I still can't believe I have a trip coming in 10 days and am planning January and May. Is my life good or what????? :cloud9:

Kristi - not that I'm a Florida expert but when we were in Orlando and there was a shuttle launch we were told to go to the Burger King in - I think - Titusville (sure someone more local can tell me if I'm making that up) - the car park is directly opposite the launch pads, so we sat there with our burgers, there were a couple of salty old seadog types with their radio tuned into mission control and it was pretty cool.

This really a small world--b/c I was going to give the EXACT same advice as our teammate from Down Under!:goodvibes My grandmother used to live in Titusville and that's where we watched the shuttle launch--one of the coolest things ever!:thumbsup2

Titusville sounds cool too! I will pass along the info to Chad.
Honestly, I've seen a launch before. I don't need to see one again.
But Chad is all gung-ho to go again. And he has Zack all excited too.
I would rather stay at Disney World.
Thanks for all the tips, guys! :goodvibes

I am still sick. More of the stuffy nose, sneezing thing now. Ugh.
I may skip my 3 miler in favor of more sleep today, and being better for my 8 miler LR tomorrow.

Ok, off to do some online car shopping/car looking.
My car got inspected yesterday and they stopped looking after they hit about $1k in repairs. Since I have over 170k miles....it is time to start shopping. I really liked having no car payment though! :sad2:

Kristi,
Go to your local natural food store and get pine, eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils. Put them either in a steam pot or on a cloth and inhale. This will help clear out your nose and chest so you can breathe better.
:thumbsup2
Hope you feel better soon. :wizard:

Kristi - I hear ya about staying at Disney. My mom wanted to take my niece and nephew to CoCo Beach once during a Disney trip and I was so upset! I pouted like a baby...then when we got there I headed directly for the bar to have some slushie goodness...that made it better I suppose.

Jackie - Good luck on your first run!

Cam - Congrats on the 5K...jogging IS running as far as I'm concerned. And you RAN 37 minutes!!! Good for you!!!

Krista - Yes we did two of the haunted houses there. I was screaming and clutching on to my BF like a baby. Which he thought was pretty funny because I'm usually pretty tough. I have done Maverick twice this year, but we skipped it because of long lines. We only picked one of the big three to ride and Millennium always wins in our books!! I'll have to ask him what part of Cincinnati he is from. He's told me before but I'm forgetful. :upsidedow

I'm off to work. Hope you all have a GREAT day!!! I'll stop in later after I get my 4 mile fartlek in tonight. :thumbsup2

Be warned the eucalyptus oil will bring out your latent Koala tendencies. You will get uncontrollable erges to hug.

Hard to believe that this time next week Erica and I will be waking up somewhere around the Florida line and getting ready for the final drive into WDW.

Would anyone believe that Erica is actually the Evil Panda? I try to controll her.

I'm off to walk probably about 4 to 5 miles. It's cloudy and threatening rain so should be nice except for the high humidity.

I mowed the yard with the push mower yesterday. I like doing that since it's a great workout for all your loeg muscles as well and your back and arms. It's been to hot all year for 2 hours of pushing it this summer.

Have a great day y'all.

I cann't even remember the names of my children, so you never have to worry about me remembering anything bad you say about your ILs.....:rotfl:

I WISH I were doing TOT! The fam and I will be in WDW, but we just didn't think we could do TOT, the parks, and MNSSHP. So the race had to go. But I am still getting a trip to WDW! We are leaving 10/26! We are doing MNSSHP on the 30th....anyone else doing it that night?

Hope to run today!

Whew!! We were out of town for a few days. No running since boy is out on fall break. I could do TM again if I can talk myself into it!

Phil took a few days off, so we went camping on the Buffalo nat. river. We hiked w/ boy and he actually swam in the river!! We also took him on one of our favorite mt. biking trails w/ his trail-a-bike. Phil pulled him (I can pull on the road, but not the trail) He had a great time!! I'll try to post a picture later.

MSDave - hey:thumbsup2

Christa - good luck on your 20! I like the pics in your siggie! It cracks me up how the runner girl's water bottle is bigger than her body!!

Sunny - thanks for the boo!! I couldn't make it work for some reason:sad2:

Colleen - how is the knee??

Stephanie - we are going to be in town on Oct. 27 for that adv. race again. I'm looking forward to it (i think)

Here is a photo from our ride. You can't really see the trail-a-bike, but it is connected to the back of the red bike.

We are! We are!! Maybe we'll see you there. I think you would COMPLETELY recognize Stephen and I if you saw us in our costumes. ;)

Carrie--PUH-lease forgive me!!!! I can't remember why we chose the 30th over the 28th, I think we were thinking that's our last night of vacation and we wanted to go out with a bang. My parents are going along with us this vacation, I'm pretty excited about because it's their 41st anniversary on 10/29 and we are surprising them a dinner at California Grill. They've never been there, but I know they will love it. Here's some :wizard: for your in laws, I promise not to say a word to them, I've said some pretty heavy things about my in laws too.

Kristi--Hope you are feeling better soon!!!!!

Melissa--That mini vacation sounds like it was awesome.

Cam--Congrats on your 5K! Too funny about your running being slower than your r/w. I've noticed that with myself too, so that's why I stopped trying to run and stuck with the r/w--I usually do run 5 or 6 or sometimes 7 minutes and then walk 1. It's not messing with my time, it's better for my legs, and it doesn't make me any lesser of a runner. :wizard: for your hip!

You'll notice I haven't talked about running yet, that's because I didn't run last night. :sad2: I wore a pair of my infamous heels to work and then had to stop at the grocery store as we had NO food. Buy the time I got home, my feet were aching so bad and then started cramping when I finally kicked my shoes off. I don't know what the deal was because I were high heels all the time, but my feet didn't like them yesterday! Today I am wearing my Privo flats (very comfy shoes, girls) so I can run tonight! :thumbsup2

Hi, WISHers!

Sorry but this will be a driveby. Good reason, though -- I have a job interview this morning for a part time job! WISH me luck!

I got in 4 quick miles this a.m. after doing 40 minutes on the bike last night. Everything is still feeling good!

Happy training, all!
Renee

Krista:My dh always wants me to wear high heels, but my feet are so bad I pay for it later. He doesn't 'get' it, so I think HE should have to wear them sometime!!! HA! Then he would understand!

I got my 5 miler in yesterday, and I actually enjoyed it (mostly). I was waiting for my left ankle to hurt since I twisted it last Friday, but it was my right ankle hurting for absolutely no reason at all! What's with that? It did feel better after a couple of miles, but I don't know why it was hurting in the first place!

I want to beat the rain today and get another run it after work. I am hoping for the best!

Beth

Mel, you have a lovely family. Your son is so cute!:goodvibes

Renee - Good luck with the interview...just talk about the "TEAM" and they'll be sure to give you the job. hee, hee.

Cam - Congrat's on your 5k!

I walked 7 miles yesterday and my left heal is sore today, but nothing unbearable. My right foot feels fine and I'm really thinking that it's the orthodics that are causing the majority of my pain because I didn't wear them for the walk and I feel fine.
I signed up for 2 snowshoe races....one is in November and the other is in March and since we have snow already I may just dust off my snowshoes today! :lmao:

Have a good workout TEAM!:yay:

Greeting Racing Team -

I have been lax on my posting, and I'm sure you have all missed me very much - HA! But I have been right on schedule with my training. I actually even have thrown in some new weight lifting exercises on my XT days. Of course my arms are killing me, but I'll suffer thru the typing pain for the good of the team.(Oh brutha!)

In case anyone is wondering yes I have already started driving Charlie nuts with "Two weeks from today we will be..." :hyper2: "Ten days from today we'll be at..." :yay: blah blah blah. Actually we are both starting to get really excited. It starts to get hard to concentrate on anything now. I don't know why I bother coming to work! Oh yeah, right. because they pay me. :upsidedow

Christa - You're going to BE THERE??? Oh oh oh! Maybe you can meet up with us somewhere! :goodvibes

Cam - Way to go, you running machine you! I am incredibly proud of you! :woohoo:

MSDave - Thanks for sticking your head in. We miss you.

Carrie - Please. I can barely remember my own name most days! Don't worry about me repeating anything you ever said about....who was that? What was I not supposed to do? :upsidedow

Krista - You are a funny girl! "fartlek" :lmao:

Kristi - Oh no! get better, will ya? We have a race in a matter of hours at this point!

Melissa - Oh what a great picture! What a cute smile! :goodvibes Oh and....well, I'd say what a hunka-hunka burning love you got there but I've been accused of being a porcine type farm animal when I make those sort of comments. :rolleyes1

Renee - Hope your interview went well!! :wizard:

I didn't get in the 5 miler I had planned yesterday. I didn't feel into a 5 miler yesterday so I switched training days and did 2 miles yesterday and plan on doing the 5 miler today. We will see if that actually happens.

I still can't believe there is only 10 days left till TOT - I am :scared: that I won't be ready but you can't hold back time!!

Renee - good luck on the job interview.

Melissa - Oh what a great picture! What a cute smile! :goodvibes Oh and....well, I'd say what a hunka-hunka burning love you got there but I've been accused of being a porcine type farm animal when I make those sort of comments. :rolleyes1

Judy - Go ahead and say it! I was going to say YUMMY as well (and Melissa's lookin' pretty good too!)

DOn't be afraid!!! As an added bonus, I'll hold the hand of anyone who needs it (except wwDave and MIke ;) ), because I'll be riding solo for the post race party.
Hey!! While I appreciate being included with my esteemed cohort WWDave, what's the deal. You come back from the great non-posting beyond to throw me under the bus?!? You're just lucky I'm running the MCM the next day or I'd have to come down to ToT and tell your in-laws EVERYTHING that you've ever said about them!! ;)

HELLO TEAM

Sorry total drive by:
:car:

I just wanted to pop in and say hi!! :wave2:

It's so hard to post here when I'm not running, but I have been trying to skim through your posts.

Not sure if I'll get back on the boards later or have time to post, so wanted to do it now.

I'm leaving for the airport at 4:45 AM tomorrow, heading to SF. WISH me luck. This will be my longest distance since surgery. I am more than a little nervous.:scared1:

Just want to focus on getting to the Ghirardelli Chocolate mile and then the finish line for my bling! ;)

Won't get home till Monday night, so wanted to Wish all the ToT participants good luck, in case you're gone before I get back on the boards! Have a great time!

So who got nominated to keep WWDave and Bill in line?:teeth:

Terri
