Wk of Nov 5--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

I'm taking a night off too. Had a filling today that's still sore, really tired and my foot is acting up again. It was doing so well too :sad2: I just ordered the cool FILA shoes that DD13 got with the arch support...if they don't help, I'm afraid I'm going to have to go the orthotics route. I have two patients who are runners who've told me the orthotics will fix everything and last for about 10 years.

Christa...thanks so much for posting photos of Bree! Just curious, do the days have 30 hours where you live? I can't figure out how you fit everything in!

Bree...congrats! Big WISH team hug for you and your family :grouphug:

Amy...good to hear from you! WTG on your 14 miles!

Dave...I can't wait to hear how the 'reveal' goes!

Cecilia...where are you from originally? You sound like you might be a FL girl, too!

Kevin...you don't have anything to do with the SEC championships do you?

Molli...welcome back! Great to have someone else from the original WISH team!

Lily...sorry to hear you're dealing with an injury! Good luck on those TM LRs.

Nancy...when is the Run the Universe? That looks like a cool run!

TIff...wtg on your 3 miles!

Carrie... :wizard: for your long workday tomorrow. Sounds like you had a great trip.

Judy...sorry to hear things with Mist are not looking well. Great pictures though. I think I want to come live with you ;)

Anne...Nawlins? Wow...what a cool place to do a run. Did ya get any beads?

Krista...Hines Ward has really been helping me on my fantasy team :thumbsup2

Cam...that was a great soapbox speech! I've caught myself saying that I'm 'only' doing the half and it's a great reminder of what an accomplishment that is.

Monica...I'm going to be there in 2008. I think my brain is on board for the full...just have to figure out how to make the training time work.

I've had to do some rescheduling of LR to fit in holiday travel. I don't want to do 8 miles on a hotel TM, so I'm switching to 4 on T'giving weekend. And my 12 is scheduled for our next WDW weekend, so I'll bump that to the following (though that messes with my taper a bit). Anyone else having difficulty with training schedules and holiday travel?

Hi, everyone. Not much time to catch up with everyone.
Howard's stepdad passed away at 3:35 am today. This is the man who raised him and who is responsible for the man my husband is. The world has lost a truly special person. Please keep Howard and all of us in your prayers as we mourn our terrible loss but also celebrate that Dave is in a much better place.
I treasure all of you and appreciate that you let me come here and pour out my heart. I'll try to check in on Sunday when we are back in town, or Monday at the latest. Looking forward to hearing about Dave's date with his DW. And I am hoping to hear all about everyone's LRs and get motivated and moving again.
Hugs :grouphug:

:grouphug: :guilty: Cam, your family will remain in my thoughts during this very difficult time. Please pass my deepest sympathies on to Howard and your entire family. His father sounded like such a wonderful man with a truly great spirit. I know he will be missed terribly. I wish you all the strength to get through the days ahead.

I'll be thinking of you Cam. I know this is such a tough time for you to begin with :(. Sending you a big ((HUG))

Cam and Howard- So sorry for your loss. I'll keep you both in my prayers! :grouphug:

Terri

Cam - I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Howard's Dad...your entire family is in my prayers. God bless.

Cam and Howard--Hugs and lots of prayers for you and your family! :grouphug:

Well, training has gone well this week. Not sure the last time I posted--but Saturday was 5 miles about 9.5 min miles, Monday 3 miles 26:40, tues. 4 miles 36:40, and today I'm supposed to be getting 10 miles in. Hopefully my Dsis will be able to watch the kids, so I don't have to do the 10 on the TM (I bow down to those who do double digits on the TM :worship: ) I got some new shoes last night (Nike Air Max Vibrance) and going to try the Clif Shot Bloks if I do the 10 today. The weather is supposed to be beautiful today, so really hoping to get outside.

Cam - So SORRY! :wizard: :grouphug: :wizard:

Well my 12 miler is not going to happen today...I am working at our yearly Southern Christmas Show this week so trying to get the performances, seeing clients, My uncle is coming in town who we haven't seen in 2 years, and now the Christmas show and all the running will be crazy. I may try to do it Saturday after my show I am in (The Best Little Christmas Pagent Ever) Some of you may have seen it b/4. DDs and I are in it together.
At least it is only the 12 mile run and not my 20 I have to do next week ALONE! Melissa, want to come to Charlotte and run it with me?

Anyway....
If anyone is interested in seeing some pics and a race report from the NY Marathon go to Rons Website .

Oh my gosh, you sound busy! Don't forget to let me know what you want to do about your W.I.S.H. shirt -- I PM-ed you! Wish I could keep up with you, I'd come to Charlotte and keep you company!

Cam and Howard - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for your loss.

Lily - Sorry your training is difficult these days. :wizard: I hope you're able to work through it soon.

Dave - So very excited that you have a definite date to tell your DW. NOW is the time!! :cool1:

Judy - Being a thigh girl myself, I truly appreciated the pics of Charlie. I'm merely speaking from an athlete's persprective, of course. :rolleyes1 :confused3 Kepping you guys in my prayers during Mist's trial. :wizard:

Kristi - Vent away sister!! Glad it helped. I hope Chad has come to his senses.

Mel - Please report on the new shoes once you've had a chance to test them out. I have the highest arches ever and would love a shoe with really evident arch support. I hope they fend off the orthotics route for you.

Christa- Thanks for posting the pics of Lucas. Tell Bree & Greg congrats on their little miracle.

TiffJ - Congrats on the great 3 miler.

4 miles early today followed by my Pilates class. I have decided that I will be dedicating a marathon mile to my INSANE  Pilates instructor for kicking my butt each and every time. I consider myself hard-core and I am nearly crying in her class. Granted, I wouldn't take the time to go at 6:00 a.m. if it wasn't worth my while and I LOVE  the results of my efforts.

Rest day tomorrow and 17 on Saturday. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I will head outside for that one.

Here's a funny for you guys - DH got a finisher's certificate from the Disneyland 1/2 when we didn't even go :confused3

Best of luck to all in training and LR's this weekend. :cheer2: :woohoo:

Oh Krista, I'll have to tell him that! He'll be so flattered! He attributes his thigh strength to growing up with a trampoline. He used to spend hours on it!

Ever see The Golden Girls, where Blanche says "And God gave man thighs that would crack a walnut." Yup, my husbands actually got 'em! :teeth:

Okay Judy, too much information! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

"You need to gain some weight b/c you are unhealthy" :furious:

Gee I get that all the time too . . . . :rotfl2: I sure hope that comment did not come from your MIL! If it did, there is no pleasing that woman! :lmao:

Okay, I posted as I caught up on reading the posts today instead of waiting until the end, and now I feel awful since I reached the very sad news about Cam's DFIL. I am sooooo sorry to be lighthearted in such a sad time.

Cam- Sending prayers, hugs, and PD to your family in this difficult time! :grouphug:

Cam and Howard - :grouphug: to get you through this tough time!

I pulled my dead body out of bed this morning and did 45 minutes on the treadmill. Oh it was so hard, my body ached do much!!! I dropped to a R3/W1 to make it more bearable. And I finished.

I have 8 miles to do this weekend. That is my highest ever and I am a little scared. The weather forcasts say we may get 3-6 inches of snow tomorrow, so I think I will be running on the indoor track (12 laps for a mile). Now there is nothing like running in a circle for an hour and a half to make you go totally insane!!!!!!
