You're killing me!! I finally post a nice long reply thread to everyone and what happens? You start a new thread!! "O" well!! :teeth:

Dana

Had a good LR today! Makes a world of difference when my brain decides to run with me :thumbsup2 Still fought with the side cramp for the last 3 miles, but finished 6 miles in 1:14:34 for a 12:25 pace. I think it might be a bit off. Garmin was finicky today...my mile was off by a few feet and one point in my graph, Garmin has me doing 30mph :moped:

Kristi...we call our CD collection 'eclectic'. It ranges from big band to jazz/blues to metal with large splashes from the 80s and 90s.

Krista...congrats on your 14 miles! Yeah...it's a bit different with kids ;) I got up and ran at 6:30 to be back in time to take DD13 to the reading festival where she was working a booth for her school, took DD3 to the mall for some clothes and a run through the playplace, went back to the festival with lunch for DD13,walked around there for awhile, took DD3 home for nap, then went back to the festival at 5 to pick DD13 up. :faint: btw, Hines Ward is one of my WR on my fantasy team this week.

Dave...congrats on the 20lb loss! How do you like the Saucony?

Angie...wtg on your 5K! Those hills sound like they were brutal!

Nancy...congrats on your 5 miles! You can drive in, but make sure you plan to be there early. The traffic was intense at 4:30am last year. Potties are pretty frequent on the half course, very crowded early on, but better later in the race. And the restrooms in the theme parks are open when you run through.

Mike...brrrr! But great pace! Sounds like the Maffetone method is working well for you.

Heather...say hi to Carrie for me! Hope you guys have a great LR tomorrow!

Jodi...how did the 13 miles go? Good luck with the 6 miles!

Cam... :grouphug: thinking of you and Howard this weekend.

Minnie...check out St Armands circle, shopping, food and live music on Fri night, probably within walking distance of your resort and actually part of the Sarasota marathon course. If you have time, Mote Marine lab is out on the island too. Small, but cool. And of course, you can't miss sunset on the beach :beach:

Good training week everyone!

Just cut and paste it to this thread :)

:wave2: Greetings fellow WISH-lings! (like "earthlings" only with WISH instead of... you get the picture),

Hmmm, I guess completing my run today has elevated my mood from "great" to "goofy." For most of the 12 miles, I felt like I was running with lead shoes on!! :tiptoe: It was a real challenge!

Yet, I knew my WISH teammates were out there, too, giving their all. Encouraged to do likewise, I completed the run. Thanks, everyone, for the camaraderie this team affords. :cheer2: Can't wait to meet you guys!!

:woohoo: Go get 'em on your LRs tomorrow!!!

Decide to go for the higher mileage today but I did the 6 miles last night and it went really good. I did it more to get the miles in than to go for the speed (wasn't happy with the pace).

I do want to start sessions with my personal trainer again......I felt a lot stronger then.

We're off to do our 5k in 31 degrees! :scared1: I've never walked/run in weather this cold. At least I get to wear my brand spanking new running tights and headband! Should be interesting...

Today I do my longest solo run. 12 miles all by myself. I am off to finish reading last weeks post for inspiration. Thanks everyone for keeping me going!

I am so proud of everyone getting out there & getting in their steps. I shaved 20 minutes off my ½ marathon time 2 weeks ago and have gotten in all LR. Unfortunately the running during the week has been almost non-existent. So yestrday morning I was a little nervous about heading out for the longest run I have every done with not much time in. But I decided it was about finishing 14 miles not setting a speed record. Put my game face on and hit the road…
Mile
1 13:07
2 13:00
3 13:08
4 13:07
5 13:01
6 12:45
7 13:43
8 13:14
9 13:29
10 14:26
.52….I have to tell you that my DD8 joined me at mile 9 on her bike. She was so excited about helping get thru the “tough” miles, I couldn't say no. Of course as you may remember she only learned to ride without training wheels at the end of summer so she is still a little wobbly and slow. I was okay with that. Right up until about 10 ½ - she swerved into me & knocked me down. She was so panicked she over corrected right into a parked pickup and crashed herself. I’m sure we were quite a sight sprawled on the road. We dusted ourselves off and hobbled home. Everyone’s okay, just some scrapes & bruises. But my questions is - if I go out today and do 3 ½ more miles, can I count that as my full 14?

Hi everyone. Today is a rest day for me, which is good because I am home alone with the girls again. DH was called into work for a bit. We headed out to Sunday School this morning and it was cancelled. Arggg, so what was I to do for an hour and 1/2 until church started? We decided to go back home.

I checked out the website for my 10K run and they said awards that weren't picked up wille eventually be mailed. Well I still emailed the coordinator to see if 2nd in the age group would receive something. I can pick it up since I live 1/2 mile from her office. We'll see, I'll let you all know!

And speaking of my 10K... here are some pics. The first is me before the start. There was a 5K, 10K and 1/2 Marathon run. The 10K had the least participants at one about 60 runners. Also, when I compare these pics to pics of my first 5K, wow, you can see how much weight I have lost.

This is me finishing. This was my longest race yet and it was so cold and windy. You can tell I am still bundled up. I was ice when we were finished, which is another reason why we didn't stay for awards.

Dana, I read your thread! Thanks for the website! DH and I will be checking it out soon!

Jen, great pics!

Thanks everyone on the potty and driving issues for the half. We are getting a bit anxious.

I don't know how all of you do it. My DH and I are doing this together so I can always do my LR with him. During the week we head to the gym alone, but on Saturdays we leave the kids home and head out together. It has been good for us physically as well as a couple. SO we don't have date night, we have date runs!! :rotfl2:

Have a great week!
Nancy

CJ - glad everyone was ok!

Jen - great pics, thanks for sharing!

I just got back from our local 5k Santa Fund Run. There were 206 runners. I thought I was going to be DLF, but I was #202 - ahead of 4 other people! :rotfl: My first mile was a 11:23 - an amazing feat for me! Yet, after mile 1, I could not see anyone up ahead of me on the trail! :confused3 I guess small local races are for 'real' runners - not penguins like myself!

My Garmin died after mile 1, so I was feeling a bit lost. I finished in 38.xx. Oh, my avg. was 12:22. Again, amazing for me! :woohoo:

:wave2: Good Morning, all!!

I hope you all are enjoying your LRs this weekend. :teeth:

Mel and Jodi -- Great job on your long runs!! :thumbsup2

Kristi –Brrrr!!! :bitelip: I hope you are de-thawed by now and that your race went well today… let us know the details!

Cecilia – :cheer2: Best to you on your 12 miler!!!!

CJ – Oh! Ouch!!! I hope you and your little one are fine. Regarding LR mileage: I’d say just do the remaining miles for a sense of completion, and continue on with your training schedule (since you’ve done your previous LRs, the 3.5 mile shortage should have no impact). :thumbsup2

Jen – Go girl! You are quite the runner!! :sunny: Congrats, again, for going the distance, and thanks for the pics!

Nancy – How wonderful that you and DH are a team!! :love2: You are staying healthy and reaching goals together…. Fantastic!

I’m off for my weekly treadmill LR (estimated time of completion is 2 hours, 40 minutes… holy cow, that’s a long time).

Best to all. Safe and joyful training, with visions of running down Main Street, and through the Castle!!!

Teri

Kristi - I have ran only ran 4 races, but my first 2 I never saw anyone ahead of me. I agree that little local races have pretty much all speedy runners. I still do them tho!!!! Congrats on your finish. Your pace is close to mine, so I am sure we will run into each other during the 1/2!!!

Nancy - I too am concerned about the porta potty situation! I have a teeny bladder!!!!

OK, the girls are supposed to be napping (I hear them still rumbling in there tho!). Soon I hope to have alone/quiet time... which is also known as cleaning up the house!!!

Here are some pics from today's race. We think the camera was cold for the first two - the pics are very pink, even after I adjusted them on the computer. :confused3 Weird!

Great job to everyone on their LRs, and I love the photos. Jen & Kristi- You guys look terrific!

Carrie and I had a fantastic time run/walking 9 miles this morning. It rained a little, but the rain felt good. The temp was around 70 degrees, which was very HOT for Carrie, and the mosquitos were awful. But we did it, and the miles just flew by having someone to talk to. :cool1: I sure wish she and Scott lived closer. I told her that they could come stay with us if they need a place to go this year to get in their 20 miler.

We saw someone wearing a shirt along the path that said something like: "If it wasn't hard everyone would do it. It is the hard that makes it great."

Hi all! Had a great time with Heather this am! She may be glad to get back to her video ipod after running with chatty Cathy today, though. ;) Felt kind of guilty that dh ran in 30 degrees and wind and I complained about possible mosquito bites. :p It was awesome, though and my hip feels great!!! Just what I needed! I do have some sore muscles, though. R/W uses some muscles that straight run doesn't. No a walk in the park, but I must admit not struggling to keep up every second was a relief. It would be great to have Heather and family closer, though. They are great to spend time with!

OK, so nothing like a Trip to a big city to realize what a bumpkin you are. :rolleyes1 Hotel Gyms? Totally foreign to me. I did 30 min Sat. at 12 mpm to make sure my hip would behave today. Left water on floor so I couldn't get it. Although, as I chased my towel off the TM, I should have grabbed it, but forgot again. By the time I figure this stuff out, I'll be going home. lol.

Paul - Glad to hear you're doing well still!

Krista, Pat, Nancy and other 14-miler - Way to go!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Angie - Awesome story! Heather gave me the highlights this am! Great job!

Jen & Judy - Neck and shoulder issues. Cold then heat alternating helps a lot. Also, on the cruise, when the masseuse told me how awful my neck & shoulders were, she gave me this elemis oil for after work out, have to get full name at home. I rub it in a few time a week before bed and have not had any neck problems since. Don't buy is full price, though, I've got a place on e-bay that puts it much closer to reasonable.

Jen Great pics!

CJ - Hope your dd heals ok. B2B runs are tough. I would think finishing today would be almost harder in a way. You'll be fine!

Dana - No more target shoes!!!!! Not worth it. ;) BTW, I read your post. I always try to catch up with the end of week posts.

Teri - Wishlings, I love it!!! :goodvibes

Kristi - Way to go! Sorry about the cold. Would it help to tell you I have mosquito bites? ;) Yeah, didn't work with dh either. I'll be back in the cold soon, though. :guilty:

Sorry, my typing's even worse on my lap top. It's nice to still be connected, though. Although, it means I have to keep up with work while I'm gone. **OK, it was so bad I had to spell check. ;)

Heather - Wake up! Don't let those reports put you to sleep. We write 'em, you snooze 'em. lol. Miss you already! Thanks fro taking such good care of me this weekend and not being embarrassed by my under dressing. :teeth:

Oh, we saw a sight today. This man carried his Powerade. As in, gallon jug. Never even say him switch hands in 3 loops! :O That's dedication.

Off to shop some more. :teeth: For all you codl weather runners, just let me know if you need ear muffs. I found some great ones at Burberry for $115. Talk about racking up those rewards $s! :rotfl2:

Well things are quieting down a little now. So I will try to catch up. Although Lynnda may be getting sick again so I may have added fun in avoiding this illness.

Yesterday I went out for a 20 mile run. Other than starting way too early in the morning, it was a pretty good run. It wasn't that hot and there was a fairly good wind the entire time but it actually helped cool me off. I finished it in 4 hours and 4 minutes which is about a 12:11 pace. Looking back at last years marathon, that is 4 minutes faster and about the point where I started slowing down and walking the rest of the way. I felt better than I did last year for the super long runs so I am excited that I may be able to get a new PR.

Angie – Great job on the race. They get easier as you do more. I remember feeling totally out of place at my first race and thinking that I probably shouldn’t even be there.

Dave – I agree with the shorter long runs. I laugh when I say I have to go out and do 8-10 miles and think it isn’t any problem now. Not too long ago I was having a hard time with 1-2 miles.

Cam and Howard – Sorry to hear about everything going on. How did this weekend go. :wizard: for you getting everything done.

Jodi – Good job on your long treadmill run. :wizard: for your friend. I hope she doesn’t hurt herself any more than she should.

Kristi – Glad your 5k went well today. Hope you get over your allergies soon. The pictures were great.

Nancy – Great job on the training run. I just love the surprises when I find out that I have to do less than I had first thought. This may have already been answered, but we find it much easier to catch a bus to the start line. No big hassles and I don’t have to deal with any traffic and people being stupid when they are trying to park.

Krista – Great job on beating your split time. Since training runs are usually harder than the actual race, you should have no problems beating your time.

Dana – I also use my old running shoes for everyday shoes. They seem to rotate much more rapidly now. I used to have the same pair for twice as long but my legs definitely feel better now.

Heather and Carrie – Glad to hear your training run went well today. Those mosquitos can be quite dangerous at times. Being from around there, I am quite familiar with them. I’m impressed with the guy carrying the Powerade. It would make things easier for me since I am always trying to figure out where to refill everything.

Mel – 30mph, you should have no problem finishing with that pace. You could even run everything twice and still beat the next person. :rotfl:

Cruella – Hope your run went well.

CJ – Hope you don’t have any adverse effects from the “crash”. Those parked cars do jump in front of bikes quite often though. This speaking from experience.

Jen – Congrats on still being able to get the award. Great pictures.

Sorry to the people I missed. I will attempt to do better this week but since I have been informed that Lynnda is definitely sick, I have a feeling that I will be “serving” ;) her most of the week. We will have to see if she is just milking this illness or not… :lmao:

Bill

Carrie - it didn't end up feeling all that cold once we got going. So, I'll let you keep your mosquitos! ;)

Bill
- great job on your 20 miler! :woohoo: :faint:

Here are my official results on coolrunning:
202 12/14 38:19 12:22 Kristi L. 35 F Nashua NH
I can't believe it - I actually finished ahead of 5 people & 2 were in my age group! :rotfl2:
(let's not mention the 72 year old woman who finished before me...)

Chad's stats:
85 9/12 24:41 7:58 Chad L. 35 M Nashua NH

I kind of feel bad for Chad. He had a sub-8 avg., and still was 9/12 for his age group. He is very happy with the sub-8s though.

I have to work Thanksgiving day. But since Chad has off, he is doing some race in MA with my friend Stacey where every finisher gets an apple pie. How cool is that?
