Well, I did more training over the weekend than I thought I would, though nothing to write home about. Thursday, I walked to and from the beach house with a friend for the Turkey Bowl (flag football on the beach) and I think it was about 3.6 miles. Then, on Friday, I seriously overslept, but dragged myself out into the glorious 68 degree sunshine and did 8.4 miles on the bike path that runs most of the length of the island. I was actually pretty impressed with myself. I thought Id go 2 miles and come back, but I felt so good and it was so nice out that I decided to go until 4 or coffee, whichever came first. I got to 4.2 without finding coffee and turned back. I LOVE the out-and-back method of training. Something mental, I am sure, but knowing I was heading back to the resort and not being exhausted on the outbound part of the course really helped.
I had loaded some new music on my shuffle and that helped, too. Here is what I put on:
Mountains by Lonestar
Please Mr. DJ by Rihanna
Lifetime Love by Keith Urban
If Youre Going Through Hell by Rodney Atkins
Walk Away by Kelly Clarkson
The bad news is that I just didnt love the kayanos as Id hoped and my feet were sore and I got a blister just behind the arch of my right foot on the inside edge. UGH! I have resigned myself to doing the full in the slippers/boats that are my New Balance 1122s. I am going to suck it up and pay an outrageous amount of money at a place on-line that sells discontinued shoes. And my feet will be very happy!
