Wk Of Nov 25 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Christa Phipps - your 16+, slowly, was what, 8 minutes per mile? You're a jet.
Craig

I must set the record right!
My slow miles were not at an 8 MPM. Sometimes I do run at that speed...but I do not consider it slow. My 16+.....I ran the 1st 14 with Bree at around a 10:30 pace and the last 2ish miles at an 8:00 pace (but it was up Morehead!)
I never want to post or lead people to think I am faster than I really am.

Speaking of my upcoming marathon....;)
I have to say I am anxious about it. I printed out my pace band and it looks like that if I run a 9 MPM the whole way, I will finish around 3:56ish. I tend to start out too fast though and not good at determining my pace. So we will see....I always start to doubt my abilities b/4 a race.:confused3

I RAN!!!! WooHoo!!:cool1: I actually put my shoes on for the first time in a week. It felt great! Only did 4.5miles, but at a pretty good pace (4.5 in 40:30) Now if I can run again on Wednesday, I'll feel okay about heading out for 16 this weekend.

Today will be xtraining putting up Christmas decorations. DH was nice enough to indulge me and got everything out of the attic for me late last night!

PD to anyone nursing injuries!

WTG on all those long distances being covered! You guys rock!

Okay, DD is wanting to crack open the Xmas ornamnets, so off I go! Happy Tuesday all!

Good morning WISH Team.

Vic, good luck finding a jog bra that you can bond with.:)

Yey for Lily, who lets me stay when I teeter on the edge of sanity.:cloud9:

We have some speedy runners on here, GO TEAM!!!!

I hope everyone gets their race packets today, including us. We want our darn packet, NOW!

Where are our regulars who have been missing since Turkey Day, I hope everyone is hope safe and sane after their travel adventures.

We are off for a frozen walk in the wild tundra of Southern Kentucky.

Frozen Panda:hippie:

I'm lurking in the shadows. Still cannot exercise secondary to pain and now in the midst of a battery of testing that just leaves me tired and depressed. I come here for inspiration and hope. Reading the posts keeps me going right now. If someone could just give me a reason for the pain and nausea, I would be happy again. I cannot eat real food just protein shakes and drinking tons of water. Just being a slug lately and not liking it much!!

You all are doing great on your training though. I get excited just reading about everyone getting ready for January. Keep up the good work and, here's hoping I will be able to join you all again soon!!!!!

Is the nausea worse in the mornings dear? Do you crave unusual foods like pickles and ice-cream, or protein shakes? Are you gathering bits of string and twigs?

Hoping you get better soon princess.

Concerned Panda:hippie:

Sweetie, I am tooooo old for all that. It would be an easier fix than what it taking place though. :confused3 The worst part is hanging out and waiting. I lost my dad to cancer and that is probably what scares me the most right now.

So, Panda, just keep me laughing.....:flower3:

Good Morning you guys!!! Hope all is well! My quick update!

Eventhough I was totally emotionally drained and in such a BMZ yesterday, I managed Day 1 of Week 7 C25K--running/jogging 25 min w/ no breaks. I am super super slow, but I would I felt ok if it wasn't for my calves! Oh, and the last 10 minutes, my left foot went numb! :confused3 Who has run w/ numb feet before??? So, I did it! I am happy for that! It wasnt' easy, but it's done. I hope Wedensday's training is better!

Today the neurologist office called me back and we now have an appointment for DH, Matt, in 2 weeks. Hopefully we'll get this seizure thing figured out! I'm just on edge all the time worrying about him and if another will happen!

Cindy--running in the rain! Ugh! But, I totally get you on the TM! 3 hrs on the TM would be no fun!

Freezing Panda--Happy Tundra walking!

Princess--Sorry to hear you are having tummy issues!!! I hope they can figure out what's wrong!!! pixiedust:

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy training!

Stacie

Greetings Team -

No training for me today. I seemed to be stuck to the mattress this morning and just could not get up. :rolleyes1 I actually wasn't feeling well last night, so perhaps I needed the sleep. I do feel better today so I'll just trade tomorrow's rest day for what was supposed to be XT today.

Charlie got his Full number last night. :yay: He's 8174. I can't believe - as of breakfast this morning - he still hadn't opened it! Geez, if mine ever shows up I'm going to rip into it while I'm still standing at the mailbox!

Vic - How's the nips today? Better I hope. ;)

Cam - Whoa! mega post! Excellent job of catching up. :worship: I am envious. Cam, tell Howard we miss him here. I know he's busy, but still, I miss him. Thank you for your kind words. I'm not feeling cocky but I do feel like right now I can "get 'er done", KWIM?

Kristi - Whooo hooo! :yay: Congratulations on the Matrix! I'm glad this is your last day of drugs too. Hope you are feeling much better.

Shan - Excellent job on the Gobble Jog! :thumbsup2 OMG you were smokin!! What a great pace!

Cindy
- Oh the weather really stinks around here, doesn't it? :guilty: Could it BE any more depressing? Ugh! Sorry you had to do 16 in the rain but aren't you glad you did it? That's a long long time to be on the TM.

Christa - Nobody here is fooled by your post. We KNOW you are speedy, girl!! :woohoo:

Stephanie - YAY for getting those shoes back on.:thumbsup2 Feels good, don't it??

Frozen Panda - You thawed out yet? :upsidedow

Oh Lisa.... You HAVE been to a doctor, right??

Stacie - 25 min with no breaks is FAB-U-LOUS!:woohoo: You go girl! :wizard: to Matt today!

Well I was up early this morning. My stomach didn't feel right - just what I need on my birthday - and I couldn't sleep anymore. I decided to wash the cats (they really needed it!!) and then I hopped on the TM but only did 1 mile running. This was all before 6AM!!!

I am getting off early so I may end up doing more miles but I highly doubt it. I am having fondue at home for my bday dinner - yum I can't wait!!!

I decided to wash the cats (they really needed it!!)

1st:bday: :bday:

2nd...Sorry you are not feeling well!

3rd (and most importantly)......
WASH CATS?!?!
You can wash cats? WOW! The cats I have had would have never allowed that. Just had to comment on that b/c I was :rotfl: . HaHa..wash cats...just struck me as funny....maybe I am loosing it during my taper.

ran 3.2 today.

Being the genius that I am, I scheduled my DD's 8th birthday party for this Sunday. Yep, the same day I have to run 20 miles in the morning. Maybe I'll be in some sort of stupor by the time the party rolls around and the noise won't bother me so much...

Anyway, as I was about to post I got totally distracted by the concept of WASHING A CAT! The birthday girl's cats must be much better behaved than mine! :lmao: I have to lead a Girl Scout meeting tonight-- one of our projects is to interview someone. If I get interviewed by one of the girls, I'm working in the shiny, clean cat story!

Actually yes I must admit I must have 2 of the best behaved cats in the world. They don't get baths that often but down here in Florida for some reason even though they don't go outside at all the fleas can become a problem. So I had to control the problem. My older cat cries loudly when I give him a bath and even :scared1: peed in the tub!!! I was ready for it though. After that I did my tubby cat - he is so funny because he likes his back scratch so when I wash him he thinks he is getting scratched and he purrs. I can even hold him under the running water to rinse him off. I have had years of experience with washing cats and trust have gotten my share of scratches but came out of today's events with no scratches. :thumbsup2

Sounds good!!!! Everyone is just doing good.

I am training to do a 5k in Jan.08 at the International Speedway in Daytona Beach,Fl 1/26/08. Instead of walking and running I plan on running the whole 3 miles. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone -

I ran 6 very tough miles today. Just one of these runs that make you appreciate the good runs.

Lisa - I understand being scared when your body is not doing what it should. I hope you feel better soon.

Tricia - :bday: fondue sounds yummy! I have never heard of washing a cat.

Jen - okay, 20 miles -no problem. 20 miles pushing a stroller-for you? no problem. 20 miles pushing a stroller then hosting a birthday party? Are you completely out of your mind?! I had a sleepover for about 6 10 year olds after an 18 miler last year. I about died. It was, however, the party with most munchies ever. WE had every snack food you have ever though of. (maybe I shouldn't say that to this group after all the cat washing.)

Hint to all: shop for food BEFORE running. Going to the grocery store after a long run is dangerous. It is amazing what looks good when you have just run 15+ miles. Although my kids appreciate the oreos, candy. ice cream, and peanut butter pies they do not appreciate some of the other strange choices I tend to make after running. Does anyone else do this?

Rae - Way to go! Stick wit it.

Stacie - You are doing awesome! If it was easy then it wouldn't feel so good when you finish! Keep up the good work!

Christa - Your idea of slow is my idea of goal pace. Oh and for your marathon: A friend of mine sets his interval timer to 9 minute intervals. If he gets to the mile marker before the timer goes off he has to walk until it goes off. It keeps him slow (ha) for the first few miles. He says he usually turns of the timer by mile 15 but by then he has settled into a pace.

Cecilia, that is a wonderful idea! That would help keep on goal....oh and sorry you had a tough run. Something must be in the air, b/c my little 3.2 miles were not good either.

Jen - OUT OF CONTROL! I am sending you major :wizard: :wizard: for Sunday!

Back to this thing I call work....I want a nap!:rolleyes1

Jen: :worship: Wow...20 miles THEN a party. I thought it was bad enough last year when I ran 12 and took 3 ten year olds to a Cheetah Girls concert  . You are my hero! LOL! Good luck with that GS Meeting tonight.

Cecilia: Hey...you're allowed to have a tough run after the miles you put in over the last week!!! You rock!

Stacie:  SOOOO proud of you girl! 25 minutes is HUGE... do NOT sweat the pace. Getting out there and logging the miles is key. The pace will increase over time. You are doing AWESOME!!!!

Tricia: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :sunny:

Judy: Way to listen to your body. There's a lot of stuff going around and sometimes rest is what we need. Hope you're feeling better! :)

Lisa:  I hope you get your health issues figured out soon!!! :( I'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well! Hang in there and keep us posted!

Sooo...I'm procrastinating. Need to get out there and run. Was planning on 6 miles but I think I'm scaling back to 4. My legs are stiff and sore still from the weekend miles. So I think I'll take it easy and run 4. Hopefully they aren't tough...but something tells me....:rolleyes1

Hey Everybody!! Yesterday was a rest day for me, and that is a good thing, since my legs were still a little sore from my LR this weekend. I did get some XT in at school during my classes. We are learning about muscular strength and endurance in my classes this week, so I have been doing a lot of exercises with the kids...I guess that should count as something!

I had planned on doing 4 miles today, but realized that I have a hockey game tonight, so I am not going to do my run....I know I should, but my knee has been bothering me a little after running, and since I have a game..I don't want to take the chance that my knee will hurt and I won't be able to play.

Helen--great job on your runs this weekend.....I would never be able to run over a bridge like that...I am so scared of heights!!

Craig--Great job on your 16 miles this past weekend!

Bill--love the story about Billy asking about your Goofy shirt...I have to laugh sometimes at the things little kids come up with...one of the reasons that I love my job as a teacher!!

Stacie--WTG on jogging for 25 min straight! I knew you could do it...keep up the good work!

Tricia--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! Hope you had a great day!

Judy--You have such a positive attitude about your running! I wish I could think the way you do sometimes...keep up the good work!

Jen in GA---I am feeling the same way about the LRs and the pains that come with them. I am having a hard time figuring out if I have a real problem or if it is just pain from running all those miles!!!

BTW--no race packet for me here in NJ!! :sad1: I am really hoping I get it before leaving for my trip on Friday night!!!!

Sorry to everyone I missed! I hope everyone had a great day!

Grocery store after a LR? Not really a problem since I don't eat all that much after a LR. Before you slap me for sounding so pious, let me add I EAT EVERYTHING in sight the next day! That's when I get into trouble...

As far as the 20 miles and the party, don't be so impressed. I actually called a bounce house place. They do everything but the cake (and I'll be getting the cake at the grocery store;) ). I just need to make sure the kids all have socks and their parents sign waivers! :cool1: I couldn't face having to entertain a pack of kids at my house!

By the way, here's a picture of Harry heading out for a LR- He's smiling because he saw our cat sitting on top of the car (just wait until I tell him we can give the cat a bath! ) And thank you, Cam, for thinking about us at your race, but did you have to put the idea of a lime green WISH stroller in my head?;)
