Good morning!
Race report is up. Thanks to all of you, I did not get swept and even had a good time! Official time was 2:20 and chip time was 2:19 for a pace of 14:58! Learned from the CCC and did not weave as much. Didn't need to though, as there were only about 2000 at the start. FYI, there were 1489 finishers with the last place pace at 15:55. There were 4 women between 70 and 78 who finished..ALL ahead of me!!!The fastest had a 13:15 pace!!
Once in the AKL room after the race, DH took his shoe off to discover a bloody sock. Peeled the sock off to find he had broken a quarter size blister and rubbed it raw. He had a few more blisters along with his knee swollen 3x the regular size. His days of going up and down steel decks on the Navy ships have left him in need of knee replacement surgery..but he won't do it! I had only 2 teeny blisters, but the ball of one foot was swollen big time. Got in to see a podiatrist yesterday. After taking xrays, he says that my big toe is shorter than my 2nd and 3rd toe and doesn't bend the way it should. Therefore, the 2nd toe takes most of the stress of walking. Now the bone is bruised.

So, it's no walking training for me for 2 weeks. No pool to swim in, so I'll be working on upper body strength and abs!

Our first badges of honor!
Nancy, hope your feet have recovered by now!

Amy, great job on your 5 miler! After reading your delimma with the satellite signal, I would be hesitant about the Garmin, also. There are other pace watches that are not GPS. Nike has some.
Dave, time for a fuel belt for training! My DH won't wear one during a race. He says there are enough water stops. But when you are training..you are going to need some water!

More stuff for our
free sport. Great job signing up for the 10K!!
