Wk of May 20--WISH Walking/Running Club

Judy :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: That was an awesome story. I'm sure glad you were ok!!

Sunny - Sorry to hear about your family crisis! Completing the 17 weeks of training is commendable anyway!!!!

Carrie - has your booty pain resolved? Mine is STILL there!!

Finished my 3 miles w/ Lila today. She is a crazy dog. I'm thinking that she must still be quite young as I cannot seem to tire her out!! I think I'm going to have to up her mileage. I felt like running more today, but I like going in to work too!

Hello, all! Even though it's Thursday it's my Friday! Tomorrow we're heading to Busch Gardens for 2 days. It's not WDW, but it's a badly needed break.

Today I ran 5 miles before the family went out and golfed 9 holes. The run was much easier than the golf! Tomorrow will be "XT" walking around Busch Gardens.

Leana - :bday:

Jen - too much stress! Thank goodness you're exercising to help with that.

Sunny - :grouphug:

Stacey - register for the half!!!!!

Colleen - I'm with you - running through the NC summer heat is going to be tough!

Linda - congrats on completing your race! You are an athlete.

Happy training, all!
Renee

Judy! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I did that getting on a ski boat once. But I went face first!:lmao:

Leana - :bday: and Stephanie and early :bday: Oh to be 29 again...Well I tell everyone I am 25...but that is a BIG FAT LIE!:rolleyes1

Melissa so glad to hear from you...My JRT is also very hard to get tired!

Shan you are doing great! Don't worry about the pace...that will come.

MAY do 18 tomorrow...I still haven't signed up for GFMM and not sure if I want to do it. I want to, but don't know about upping my miles to that so soon again. With DDs out of school it is hard for me...plus there is that $$$ issue...why is this FREE SPORT so costly?
I did get me a new bathing suit today at Target. It was on sale for $7.85 and I can for real swim in it....it covers well. We are goinging out of town this weekend and I needed a bathing suit to ski in. Water Ski that is...:lmao:

I survived my daughter's graduation/tango weekend.:woohoo: You can read the whole story on my journal thread runwdw2008

Thanks to Renee for helping me squeeze in some running time with her suggestions about dropping off kids and running.:)

I had a horrible dream last night that the marathon was on Monday and I had only until then to get ready:scared1: It was a relief to wake up to months instead of days.

Dona

Who wants to see me???? Here are some professional picks from the 1/2 marathon last weekend.

Jen--Love the pics!:thumbsup2

Oh, and just to clarify--I am going to be 29 again next Tues.--won't say how long I've been 29!;)

OMG! Can it be? Another Goo fan here????? :yay: :dance3:  :cool1:
They did do a Canadian tour last fall (I think). Did you see them then?
I know this sounds dorky, but they do pay attention to the more serious stuff on their fan club message boards. We have all been kind of complaining that they don't play any of the old stuff anymore, even stuff from A Boy Named Goo. Well, low & behold, they now have a survey up asking what old song we want to hear this summer! So, you could join and start pestering them via the boards to come back to Canada!
:bday: Oh, to be 29 again... ;)

Kristi - Yup, I am a GGD fan! I do think John Rzeznik is one good looking guy...!
They did play Calgary last fall, but I had just moved here, and by the time I heard about the show there were no tickets available.

Jen - love your pictures!

Planning on doing 5 miles after work, made it to ~4.2 miles before I stopped. It was really hot, and I ran out of water. But the thing that got me was my allergies. My head had been hurting the past two days, and I'd been really congested. My throat was raw while I was running, and my nose just hurts. Uuugh. My time was 42-something. Right at 10 min miles. I started off running around 9 min miles, but then I had to walk.

Oh well, I guess I was due for a bad run. It's been a while.

Cheryl - thanks for the pics! I just showed them to Chad to motivate him. He wants to do an Ironman someday. The bike cost is what's really holding him back now though. Someday...

Dave - my allergies are acting up too! Sorry your run wasn't the greatest. Great job getting out there not feeling so great though!

I did it! I finally got out there!
Note to self: do not NOT walk/run for over 2 weeks ever again!
I did 2.5 miles in 32:28 with negative splits.
Not a stellar time for me, but decent. It was HARD though!

Thanks for the encouragement, I quickly passed registering for the half by DH and he said sure! So I did register, but we'll see if I really get to go! I have miles, so I probably can make it happen.

And, of course the day I decided to do the half, I had a really bad unfinished long walk! I didn't sleep good, and everything just felt yuck! But I started in on the TM (cuz of the snow), got 2 miles in, and decided I had to stop and get some Gatorade (forgot to get it ready). When I stopped, I almost passed out, literally. So I decided to forgo the last 3 miles and be happy with 2. Oh well!

Jen- Great pics!

Speaking of pics, I was printing my pics out from the Minnie today for the scrapbook, got me all excited again!

Stacey - Yay for signing up! SOrry about teh stonker! Unfortunately, you'll have more before the half. They just make the great outings seem better, though.;)

Dave & Kristi - Misery loves cvompany. I hate allergy season!

Cheryl - Thanks for the pix! Wow, from his report, I though Matt would look like something dragged in. Not at all! Hope you're doing well! Please come here if you need compnay or support while Matt's away (or even when he's not.)

Melissa - Yes, my booty pain is still there. I'v ego teh t3rd physical therapist involved and been to an osteopath. After Staurday, ther will be no running in my future for at least a couple weeks.

Well, my 3/2 r/w did not go all that great last night. I went full walk with about 15 min left in my 40 session. It was wayy hot, bt I can't really say that effected my leg/booty. We should eb putting in the new pool liner this weekend, so I should eb able to swog at home. Let's hope it heats up quickly after the cold front that juust came in, or I'll be one chilly swogger. :cold:

TGIF and Happy Memorial Day weekend all!

Going to try to get a 5 mile TM workout in this morning. We are heading to Houston for the weekend, so I'm sure there will be no running while there. Maybe I'll take my stuff just in case--we'll see how much room is left in the suitcase;)

Cheryl--Thanks for sharing Matt's pics with us! I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to really meet you at the Minnie--please keep posting with us in Matt's absence!

Carrie--good luck with the pool liner. our community pool opens here this weekend--so I might start trying that SWOGGing ya'll talk to much about--have feeling I'll look silly--but we'll see

Stacey--don't ya love how this team can talk you into anything?? Just Kidding, congrats on signing up for the 1/2

Kristi--great job gettting out there!

Dave--oh no on the allergies! Take care of yourself!

Well, I should go--need to get to the gym and then start packing--nothing like waiting until the last minute! If I don't get on here again today (yeah, right;) ) have a great weekend all! Happy training and racing!:thumbsup2

Carrie - sorry about the booty pain!! Rest does not seem to really help mine. I should be more diligent about stretching, but i'm not!!

Stephanie - 5 miles on the tm is about my treshold!! I have done 8 and even 10, but im just too adhd for that!!!! I think if I used the tm at war memorial i would be able to do more, b/c there are so many interesting people to watch there!:rotfl2:

Lynn and Matt - congrats on the 1/2IM!! Maybe one day i'll do an official one, but for now, I'm still participating in the mean girls (as i am the founder of that event and it is fun!!)

Christa - speaking of mean girls and 1/2 ims, we are looking at the last weekend in august. Steph - you too!! (but you have to get a bike!!)

I ran just under 2 and 1/2 miles w/ the dog this am instead of taking her on the morning walk. I think it wears her out and she has a better more calm day. I had to stop as phil had to go to work and the boy really didn't want to come along!! I'm hoping to swim a little bit today

I am not even going to pretend I have been able to keep up here or even lurk the last few weeks.:confused3

Alaska was great and the weather cooperated nicely. It was just me and the deck hands out on the ship at 5:30 a.m. daily as I ran around the track. Sort of like the commercial where the girls wait for the guy to come into their office daily to deliver the water. Let's just say they're not used to spandex on the Alaskan itineraries:lmao: .

This weekend is my last 20 miler before I taper for Grandma's Marathon.

Sunny - So sorry to hear you won't be in Burlington this weekend.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday and best of luck to all training/racing this weekend. As soon as my taper begins I hope to be here more often:grouphug: .

I'm glad everyone enjoyed my little rowboat story. I like to keep you all entertained. :goodvibes

No training to report today. Therefore no anecdotes that involve injury or wild animals. ;)

Jen - Oh great pictures! Look at how cute you are! :cutie:

Cheryl - What great pictures! Ohh, we miss him already....

Dave - Sorry about the stonker. But you have to admit - you've has some fabulous runs, so yeah, maybe you were due. I have newly developed allergies. What the heck?? Yet another middle age surprise! And I am discovering they can really knock you out!

Kristi - YAY for just doing it. :woohoo: That's what counts!

Stacey - Glad you'll be joining us in January. :thumbsup2

Carrie - So sorry you're still having booty pain. Maybe you need a massage.... :rolleyes1

Judy - Sadly, that's what the new PT is doing. I've had 2 this week. :sad2: Yeah, there not a lot of fun either. Ouch!

Melissa - While rest does not always make mine better, running definitely seems to make it worse. And, I have been stretching and doing my exercises and heat therapy and/or ultra sound once or twice a week and massage last week and this week and orthotics and heel lift. Getting just a tad frustrated. :confused3

Sara - lol about the deck hands! Glad you had a good trip!

Stephanie - I do nothing anymore without extreme deadlines. I hear ya'!

Hi!

I know I can't possibly catch up with the days I've missed this week. This thread moves at the speed of light!

I did 4 miles on the TM before work yesterday, after 2 rest days. My knees were killing me -- I think I obviously tried to do too much too soon.

The big news is I am going to run outside for the very first time this weekend. Wish me luck! I am still talking myself into it. I know it seems like nothing to all of you, but I have not been off the treadmill, and I'm afraid this is going to be a disaster...I have the ipod, it's going to be ok. I have a safe place to run, and since I can't do the Donald in my basement, I am going to have to figure this out. I'm going to try a shorter distance first, 2.6 miles on a loop. Then I hope to do the loop twice on Sunday or Monday, so I get a five mile run outdoors. I'm typing this so I have some accountability -- if I've told you all I'm doing it, I have to drag myself outside!

I hope everyone is looking forward to a wonderful long weekend. Happy trails!
Maria

Maria--good luck with the outdoor run. I would much rather be out on the road than the TM--but with the kiddos, doesn't happen often.

Melissa--yeah, you sure do get a mix of people at War Memorial. I haven't been there in ages--we got a great deal when I was at UAMS.

I did get my 5 miles in this am--8:57 mile and played with the incline 0-5%. Then did a little ab work on that darn ball again. I figure that should tied me over until Monday!
