Wk of May 13--WISH Walking/Running Club

Kelley -- my prayers are with your family.
Vic -- welcome back! Yes, we did miss you. Good luck at the doc's.

Kelley - OH NO! How aweful that guy did not stop....:headache: I am so glad he is going to be OK. That is one of my nightmares...I ride. In fact, I am getting ready to go out...I may stick to the greenway now instead of the roads. Lots of :wizard: :wizard: and:grouphug: to you guys!

Jen - :bday: :dancer: party: :jumping1: I used to be saddened about b'days but now that I run...I think...WOW one year closer to Boston.:rotfl: I plan on qualifying at age 70.:lmao:

Cecilia - WTG on the PR! I was thinking about you the other day and wondered where you had been. I am glad you are back. :grouphug: and :wizard: to you with your DH being out of the States. I know that is hard.

OK...Off to ride! No clients today or shows! Love all my jobs, but glad for the break!

Kelley, What an awful, ugly thing to have happen!! pixiedust: pixiedust: and lots of prayers coming your way for DH's safe surgery and recovery!

Kelley--OMG! How terrible! Sending lots of prayers and PD your way that DH's surgery goes well and his recovery time is easy and speedy. Thank God his injuries weren't more serious!:grouphug:

Jen--Happy Birthday to you!:thumbsup2

Just in from a 60 minute run. Whew, it was hot! That's what I get for procrastinating instead of getting up and out early. I also did a hilly route, which I have not been doing so that made for a tough run as well. I just kept envisioning that Mickey medal to inspire me to keep going.

Jen - :bday:
Kelley - :grouphug: to you and your DH along with prayers for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
Christa - I know what you mean about kids screwing up training! I love them but I don't know what I'll do this summer as my training runs get longer and longer. I'm afraid I'll have to get up early to get them in.
Martha - You made me laugh about your MIL. Count your blessings, though: if she's flying that must mean she has a return ticket. My FIL drives and therefore stays as long as he feels like. :scared1:
Cecilia - Welcome back and happy training!

Hope you all find some :wizard: today. I came home from my run to find my kids watching home movies from WDW!! (They're on break.) We've raised a couple of Dis-aholics.

Kelley

Bless your husband and your family. How terrifying that must have been.

Jen

Happy Birthday to you. You appear to me to be the incarnation of Wisconsin nice. :wizard:

Mike

I'll call your bluff on Victoria & Alberts for the Mike-a-thon. Any reason to dine and drink there is good enough for us. We were fortunate enough 2 years ago to have the Chef's Table, and it's an experience we'll never forget. 13 courses spread across 4 hours. The best food and wine, the best care, and an amazing show in the kitchen. I suppose we'd be too many to fit at the table, but we could get one of the dining rooms, couldn't we?

Grades are in! Woohoo. Mother arrives in 3 hours. AARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH. She has a return ticket for Sunday morning. WooHoo^2.

Craig

Kelley: I am so sorry to hear about the accident and will definitely keep my fingers crossed for a successful surgery! pixiedust:

Jen: happy birthday to you! Getting old might suck but the alternative is worse!! :bday:

Calcio: huh??? I must be much more tired than I thought. I can't really have read what I think I did. Please clarify....V&A's when? With whom?

Alrighty, back to work. Been here since 6:40 am and I'm starting to fade. I've got several more hours before MIL arrives. Gee, what a fun time we'll have!

Kelley - What a terrible and unfortunate event to have happened to DH, you, and your family. Many prayers, pixie dust, magic, well wishes, and hope that your DH comes through the surgery. I really, really, REALLY hope that someone might have seen this and comes forward to have that hit and run driver arrested. :grouphug:
Vic - Welcome back, glad you had a good time, even if Krista and Steve didn't answer/hear you. Hope your foot gets better soon.
Martha - Good luck this week.
Dana - Wow...that looks close. Hopefuly it's all out now and doesn't flare back up.
Vicki - Glad to hear from ya!
Shan - Sorry to hear your DD missed out on what sounds like a neat trip. As for your Ipod...can you set the Nike + for interval timing? I am doing a 3min run/ 2min walk pace and my watch will beep when its time to switch. Would love to be able to do this to music w/o having to look at my watch all the time as well as listen to my nano while training.
Mel - Prayers and Pixie Dust headed your way, and really glad to hear you got to your DD so fast. How is she doing? Hopefully this hasn't instilled a fear of the water in her.
Cam - I looked up dedication in the dictionary, and there you were. Getting home at 1:20 in the morning, getting in your 100 crunches and 100 pushups, and even still getting up at 6:45 for a 5K. :worship: You So ROCK!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Christa - Hope your DD is doing okay. pixiedust:
Angie - Prayers and pixie dust for your and your DH. I hope you two are able to get a handle on your back problems and stay ahead of the pain.
PatsFan Jen Welcome to the team!
Bill - Strong work getting your run in! Great pace too!
Dave - Great job on getting the run in despite the mental barrage of work issues.
Jen - Happy Birthday! Hope your day goes great!
Cecilia - Welcome back...see ya in Chi Town in August!

Training note:
Officially started my journey towards the 26.2 mile mark in September. I am using John Binghams Run/Walk program...but like the goofball that I am, I didn't realize it wasn't a 16 week program...it's a 20 week program. So I started yesterday on Week 2 (my week 1). Run?walk (3/2) 35 min, turned out to be about 3.5 miles. Today will be the same, but had other things this morning to handle, but I'll get out later to get it in.

Happy Training!

Kelley- My prayers are with your DH for a quick recovery.

Mel- I so glad your DD is OK!

Jen- Happy B-day!:cheer2:

Grades are in! Woohoo. Mother arrives in 3 hours. AARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH. She has a return ticket for Sunday morning. WooHoo^2.

Craig

Oh Craig you had me about rolling on the floor with that one :rotfl2:

Congrats on getting the grades in BTW. Sometimes we as students fail to appreciate all the hard work that goes into grading the papers :coffee: :teacher:

I got to meet some of my online professors and advisors that have helped me soooo much along my way to fullfilling my dream of a graduate degree. I thanked them all for their assistance and care. It has made a tremendous difference my experience and I can only imagine that your students feel that same

Kelly - Sending truck loads of :wizard: to your DH. WISHing him a quick recovery :grouphug:

Good luck starting your training Andrew. What marathon are you training for?

I had a 30 min SWOG over lunch. Ooooh, the water felt so good.

Sunny- How's the taper going out there?

Craig - Jeepers, I hope I am nice or at least people think I am!!:rolleyes1 We did meet briefly at the POP meet in January, but you were so busy chit chatting you may not remember little old me!! I meet up with you again!!!

Kelly - Thank God he is not in worse shape. :wizard: for a speedy recovery!!!

Minnie - are you now looking for a new job, so just advancing at your current? Congrats on being done!

THANKS for all the Birthday wishes!!! DH took me to lunch and I did get flowers from a family friend (friend of my dad's). Actually, he felt bad that our family doesn't do much for b-day's and I was a little down yesterday. I got a pretty bouquet of brightly colored daisy flowers. Tonight we are eating sandwiches on our way to swim class and then the meeting. Hooo Haaaa... now that's a meal!!!

Hi Fellow Exercise Enthusiasts!

I'm planning on a ride on the ex bike after work, for 45 minutes. Tomorrow is my rest day, so I definitely want to get it in. I've stuck to my eating plan so far today. Now all I have to do is manage a sensible dinner...

Minnie -- It's great you were able to see some of the people who have helped you make your dream come true. Sounds like Disney magic to me!:wizard:

Sir Bouncealot -- I am reading the Bingham books, and I love them! What a great training resource. :thumbsup2

Martha -- I hope this week is as pleasant as it can possibly be for you...:upsidedow

Craig -- Congrats on getting the grades in. Now you can relax, and um, go to the airport?:confused3

HMHunters -- It is frightening how the little ones just absorb Disney into their bloodstreams...:scared1:

Kelley -- You have my heartfelt prayers, and I applaud you for your positive attitude. Here's hoping for a very speedy recovery. I hope many blessings are about to come your way.

Vic -- It sounds like you provided a very thoughtful Mothers Day. Here's hoping the foot review goes well.:yay:

Kristi -- The race I'm actually doing is through the Malden Y. It's just a 5K, and is supposed to be "flat and fast". The 5-miler is through Harpoon Brewery. If you go to their website(www.harpoonbrewery.com) and click yes, for over 21, and then click on events and activities, and input June 2007, then you can click on the 6th annual harpoon 5-miler on June 2nd, and register at active.com. I'm sorry I don't know how to just post a link, I'd do it if I did. The race starts at the brewery in the Marine Industrial Park and goes through South Boston. I'm told it's really fun.

Jen -- I hope you have a wonderful birthday. Treat yourself to a little something special!princess:

So, I'm going to talk to ds tonight about what we want to buy for outside running. I'm leaning toward the Ipod shuffle, since it's so tiny. Thanks for the advice I've gotten so far. The nano with Nike kit sounds good, too. As a new outside runner, is there a reason to pick one over the other? Any other thoughts? I admit it, I am almost paralyzed with fear about stepping outside my door and actually running. The TM has become a good friend these last few months...:rotfl:

Maria

Hi everyone! I haven't been around much this year. Actually, I had kind of given up on trying the WDW marathon next year because of other commitments, but now I'm hoping to rearrange a few things and try to do it.

I am pretty happy to say that I've completed 2 half marathons this year, the Pacific Shores in Huntington Beach and the Quad Cities Distance Classic in Illinois. Neither one was really fast, but for this couch potatoe, pretty good I guess. The first one I did in 2 hours 10 minutes, followed by 2 hours 7 minutes on the second one last weekend. If anyones interested, the Pacific Shores Marathon was really nice, good support, lots of fluids on the course, and a overall great time! I would love to do that one again. The Quad Cities half marathon is a pretty small event, only 400 runners and not a lot of support, made for a tough day.

Anyway, I'm trying to budget flights and hotels now, so with any luck, I should be good to start training for this one soon. Because of our work schedules I think we might be flying in Friday night and out Sunday night. You can take care of the packet pick up on Saturday, right? Hope to start hanging out in here more often and see a few of you next year!

Mark

Maria - I run on the dreadmill with an Ipod...but have also run with a MP3...I cannot tell much difference. I do not run outside with anything though. Mainly b/c of safety reasons. I do long mileage alone. But I really think you will like it outside. Better than the dreadmill. I love feeling the wind in my face....you dont get that running inside. Good luck.:wizard:

Craig & Martha - Lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for getting through the week with your house guest.;)

Andrew - WTG on getting started on your training. Is this your 1st marathon?

My Training - Did 19 miles on the bike today. Nice easy pace. It was wonderful. Now I am eating everything I can get my hands on.popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

:welcome: Mark! Those are WONDERFUL times for a 1/2 marathon. You will really love it here so keep posting.

Maria-just to put my 2 cents in--I love my shuffle--so small and can clip it to anything! And for what I use it for, TM running, it holds plenty of songs for me!

Mark--Welcome! Those are awesome half times!!!!

Andrew--WTG on starting your training! DH and I start ours in 3 weeks, I think. Doing an 18 week Hal Higdon plan.

Hi everyone!

Took a training day off today, save for a quick walk this morning. Spent five straight hours in class thereafter. :headache:

Kelley-- Oh my goodness!! How scary that must be. I will keep you and your DH in my thoughts.

Mel-- Gald to hear DD was alright. Bet those swim lessons can't come son enough, huh??

Jen-- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Cecilia-- Glad to hear from you!!

I am kind of at a loss about how to approach training these next two weeks. I don't start officially training for the Waterfront until the 28th, but I want to take advantage of the time to get ready, but not kill myself in the process... I'm going to try to wing it on these weekdays runs and then push it a little longer on the weekends, and we'll see how that goes. That way if I need to tone down the training plan, I can do it before it really gets going.

Happy training all!
Kevin :earsboy:

Andrew -- you made me cry! Happy tears, :goodvibes but tears, nonetheless. Great job jumping in to your training, buddy!

Mark -- welcome aboard. Awesome 1/2 marathon times! :woohoo:

Kevin -- it is so nice to see you here. I am not one to give advice. I adhere to John Bingham's plans and they work well for me. :cool1:
