Wk of Mar 4--WISH Walking/Running Club

Jen -- so sorry you had a rough time. Sending pixiedust: sweetie!

Krista -- so glad your run wasn't negatively impacted by wearing heels all day!

Dave -- great picture!

Angie -- I'm glad you got out for some quality time with DS.

Stephanie -- I am so relieved you got most of the coffee into you! ;) :lmao:

Okay guys, I started this so long ago but am swamped at work, so I am sure there have been a zillion more posts while I was otherwise occupied.

Quick training update -- I did 30 minutes on the TM last night (2.22 miles) and then went home, had dinner, and spent some quality time with the swiss balance ball -- 40 pushups, 100 crunches, waist twists and hamstring stretches. Working on core strengthening and toning some problem spots.

Good morning WISHers!

Sounds like everyone is doing well.

Congrats to all of those who raced this weekend.

I decided to knock the pollen off of the weight bench and weights yesterday and push a little iron. Broke out an old log, dropped the poundage by half and went at it. Upper body only. Will do legs on Wednesday.

Y'all take care.

Hey everyone. There is no pain in my foot today. I forgot to mention that before I left on my trip last week DH and I did a foot check out and it seemed as tho the pain was coming from my tendon. So I rested it and even tho it hurt a little during my attempted TM workout, the pain is not there now. Also, I forgot to mention that my right hand swelled up. Only the right, which is also the side with the weird foot. So maybe I am lopsided? :confused3 I'm not sure what is up with my body lately, but I am still on antibiotics and extreme stress. This can't be a good thing!

Krista - Oh I should try the backwards thing. Thanks for letting us know how slow you went. I am sure I would have stuck it on 2 and flown right off!! :rotfl2:

Cam - great TM workout! I need to do some searches for Balance Ball exercises. I have a video, but it's hard to watch a whole video at night when the kids have TV time. It would be easier to join them and just do some exercises that I have pics of. I need to add that to my list.

Oh and I want to know how everyone can have such fast TM runs. I am definately slower on the TM than on the road. Not sure why. My home TM takes me forever to finish a mile, but I think the speed may be off on that one.

Vic: Didn't see you (or missed you) at Seaside, did you end up not making the trip?

Just saw Robert's post on Runner's World that the RFTC is NOT going to be at DW this year according to the rep he spoke to on the phone and instead is going to be somewhere else is Orlando on 10/13. I had a lot of fun doing the RFTC and RFTT back to back last year, how unfortunate!

Krista--I now have this mental picture of you running backwards on the TM wearing 4 inch heels!:lmao: :lmao: We definitely have some talent on this board--You could make a video for YouTube!:rotfl: Now you just need the zebra stripe skirt!

Jen--I'm always slower on my TM at home. I get really discouraged running on it--Outside I can run sub-9:00 pace for 13 miles but at home I can barely manage the 10:00pace:confused3 That's why my TM is used mainly for hanging laundry!;)

Cam--In awe of your w/o w/the ball! All those crunches and pushups--and after a TM w/o as well! WooHoo!!

Had a nice class at the communtiy center this morning! I actually walked in the building and got applause from the trainer up there--her husband also finished the marathon on Sunday. And for my benefit the teacher of the class did a lot of yoga and stretching. My quads were still trembling stretching today--we'll see how the mile goes later today!

Morning Matt, and congrats on your races.

I didn't feel I was prepared to RUN the race, so I bowed out. I refuse to run/walk another one.

Take care.

:lmao: Not highly likely, but maybe by the weekend! OK, Kevin's toughter than me, so it's possible, but it's darn cold here! Weekend should be better.

Yeah, so as much as I wish I could pull the whole "Ha Ha, showed you!" card out, I'll be heading to the gym for treadmill time later this afternoon. :lmao: :lmao:

WAY too cold today!

Kevin :earsboy:

Jen -- I found a bunch of balance ball exercises on sparkpeople where I am now journaling all my nutrition and exercise. I can't believe all the exercises you can do on it that are so much better for your body than just doing them on the floor. In particular, I developed an inflamed sacroiliac joint from doing sit-ups/crunches on the floor a while ago. Now I can do all sorts of variations on crunches and even pushups that I can definitely feel on the balance ball. If you want me to send you a referral to that website (you have to register but it's free), just send me a PM with your email address.

Stephanie -- Thanks. I did something crazy yesterday. I signed up for a challenge on sparkpeople for 100 crunches a day, and since I have not been able to motivate myself to do anything other than the TM or elliptical, I thought that might be just the thing to get me to do some core strengthening and toning. Today, as my muscles are kind of quivering and feeling a bit jelly-like, I am doubting my sanity!

Vic -- Good job dusting off the weight bench! :yay:

Kevin -- I'm glad your common sense won out over your competitive nature! :rotfl:

Stephanie--What if we all ran in these:
B000GKCVJC.jpg
? They aren't zebra-print, but they just might work in a pinch!!! :thumbsup2

Solo - Thanks for not making me look like a whimp! :thumbsup2

Krista - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Nice shoes. I still don't know if I'm capable of going backwards. Not going ot try and find out either! ;)

Stephanie - Wow, entering the gym to applause. I can only dream......;)

Cam - 100 crunches??????? :scared:

Sunny - Glad the meds are helping!

I just got back from the gym. I did 30 minutes of cross training during my lunch hour (20 elyptical, 10 bike). No pain anywhere! :goodvibes

Cam - I belong to Sparkpeople, I just don't use it much. I will check it out. Thanks! :thumbsup2

Krista - Those are cute. Too bad my feet keep getting bigger now that I am running. I hate to even tell people my shoe size!

Stephanie - Oh I am so glad you are slower on the TM. I get a good workout on it, but I definately don't go as fast and it makes me feel bad. I am usually averaging a 13 minute mile (sometimes more) on the TM, and can average a 12 or lower sometimes when I run the track or outside.

Ooh, come to mama! I love those shoes! :rotfl:

ME TOO!!! I just bought the black patent leather ones. By the way, they are at Target. So you can get your shoes and lime green sports bras in one trip. ;)

Thanks for the belt info, everyone. I think I’ll bring my camera along with me when we go shopping for one and see what I can find. It’s not a small camera – just average sized. Maybe this could be my excuse to get another one?

Kevin – Lucky you to find some new shoes in your closet!

Martha – Your New Orleans trip sounds like it was a blast. Glad you had a good time! I’d like to go back there one day and do one of those tours. We went there on our honeymoon, and it rained the whole time we were there.

Steve – Aww, too cute that your daughter helps decorate your old shoes!

Jen – Sorry about that bad run. Glad to see you back here!

Angie – Glad to hear that your knee has decided to behave itself.

Mike/Optimator – The mental picture of the lady with a weiner dog kite had me :rotfl: ! Good job getting those miles in.

Dave – Great photo!

Krista – Yay for no IT band pain! Those shoes are super cute!

Cam – 100 crunches EVERY day? Wow, that sounds painful. I can barely do 10 before I feel like I’m going to die.

Is Leana back from San Antonio yet?

Drive by...

Krista
- I usually do walk 3/run 1 intervals.

Sunny - I keep forgetting to say how happy I am that that drug is finally kicking in for you, and that your workouts are going so well! Esp. bowling! ;)

Cam - 100 crunches? :faint: You rock!

Dave - PM me you email addy so I can find that picture and email it to you! I think it's mostly of your back, but it's you!

I have to clarify the 100 crunches thing. First of all, I can only do 10 or 20 in a row and then I switch to something else. Some people on the challenge are doing 50 in the a.m. and 50 in the p.m. Also, there are a LOT of variations on crunches and by changing style every 10-20 it made it easier. The ones I can't do are where you lie flat on the floor, hold the ball between your knees and lift it toward your chest. Uh, NOT!!! UGH, that hurts! I am aspiring to be able to do 10 of that variety some day! :lmao:

BTW, Heather -- those shoes were NOT the kind I was telling you about. Don't get any idea that they might be in the least bit comfy! Cute, YES. Comfy? No way in h-e-double hockeysticks! Krista -- those really are adorable. Are those the 4 inch heels you walked around in yesterday? My feet would majorly rebel. ;)

TXAng - About a month befor my first amrathon, I decided that I HAD to have a little camera fo rthe marathon. I just got a fairly cheap refurbished. It takes some abuse (sweat, rain snow), so I'm glad I did not get a rpicey one.

Krista--Here's me---:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Lime green sports bras and leopard print heels---Disney here we come!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Well, I did my 1 mile on the TM during the kids' naptime today--I took it slow and felt pretty good. A little soreness in the calves, but nothing else yelled at me. :thumbsup2

I am making a new thread with pics I have from the marathon & half marathon.

I am sorry that I don't have many - my legs were killing me on Sunday and my scream-teaming went out the window for the most part. :sad1:
