Wk of Mar 26--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Yes, I'm still alive. Mostly lurking though. It's great to see all the new people joining the group.

Lynnda- don't worry about doing Danskin 1 week after Minnie. The training complements each other. Besides, I'm jealous 'cuz I've wanted to do a Danskin event for years and it just hasn't worked out. I really can't travel from ME to FL 4 weekends in a row. Three of those 4 is bad enough.

TiffJ- PD and hugs.

Lizdotcom- WTG on the new job and the call from the Penguin. Too bad about the car.

Confession time- I'm not bothering to train for the Women Run the World 15 k(I love that name!) Minnie weekend. I'm in 100% triathlon training race prep mode meaning I'm only running 3 days a week. Now before anyone gets concerned(as if), I ran 10 miles today w/ a 9:37 pace the day after biking 51 miles. Frankly, I think my body likes this 3 rather than 4 X week running thing. I just might be getting some carryover cardio from the bike too. (Okay- probably no 'might be' to it considering my best ever running fitness was when I was a 17 yo riding 6 days a week for the USNA team. Funnily enough, I think in many ways I'm actually in better shape now than I was then. I'm certainly in better shape than the last time I did an Ironman and it's only April 1st.) It's something to keep in mind when I decide how I'm going to train for Goofy.

Alot will probably depend on whether triathlon season ends after Ironman Wisconsin in Sept or the 70.3 Champs in Clearwater in Nov. Umm, does anyone have an 8 week marathon training program :rotfl2: I actually don't expect it to be a problem as my coach has me building to a 14 mile run during training for the FL 70.3(WDW)( I haven't seen my schedule for past May 21st yet but the miles will only go up as I switch from half to full ironman focus) and there's got to be some carry over fitness from being able to run 13.1 off the bike.

Enough babbling. Hope to see some Columbus race reports soon.

Just checking in to see if there were any race reports yet.

Great job to those who have run today! DH and I are headed out right now to run I'll report back how we didn. I am hoping I can run at least two miles straight without dying but we shall see.

Lynnda-hope you feel better soon-I agree that the support found here on WISH is the best. :goodvibes

Sunny-great job on the bike-I can't wait to get ours out on the trail tomorrow our last trail ride was in November and we have truly missed it. On a sidenote DH and I are hoping that we will be able to use the trail when we start doing our long runs.

Greetings Everyone: I ran with my Fleet Feet running group this morning. When I left the house at 8:45a it was a fine drizzly rain, but when we started our run it had stopped. I did 3.3 miles in ~32 min (~9.7 mpm pace). Of course I was at the back of the pack, but I was really pleased with the run. It felt hard, but I felt good when we finished. Tomorrow the princesses, DD5 princess: and DD8 princess:, and I are volunteering for the "Spring Forward 15k Distance Run". We'll be passing out water at the 2nd water stop. The princesses have already made up these really loud noisemakers to cheer on the runners. Afterwards we're going to go out for a special "Daddy B-fast".

I can't wait to hear how the Columbus race went.

DH and I just back from our run and I am so excited! Last week we wogged 4.15 in 60 minutes this week we got 4.25 in 60 and last week we got 4.75 in 70 minutes and this week we got over 5 miles in 70 minutes. We're progressing!! Our first 3 miles were at a 13 min pace which is great for our second week back. I am doing a  :cool1: right now. I feel great and can't wait until our bike ride tomorrow!!

Dave-have fun with your princesses tomorrow!!

Hi Everyone,

Almost forgot to post my exercise for today - had my personal trainer session today. Did an overall workout using the BOSU, medicine ball, free weights, and weight machines.....today was my crosstraining day I guess.

It felt great - I told my trainer about my sucess yesterday with no stomach tightness during my running :woohoo: , she was really proud, after all she has been helping me with my core training and I can call her at anytime if I have questions about my training or run into problems with training.

Tomorrow I have to do my 8 mile run - although, I'm not totally sure that I will be ready for it......If I don't feel like it is the right thing for me I will do less.....but althoughwise.....I'm into it! It's supposed to be another beautiful day (a little bit colder but I can deal with that). Just a little concerned because we did a lot of ab exercises today. I love working the abs......odd isn't it? :teeth:

Have a good night everyone!

Jodi

Great job with the trainer Jodi! Good luck on your run tomorrow.

Hi There!! SOrry I have been MIA...it has been one BUSY day here.....

Before I forget...Tiff, so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I heard from Molli, Lily, Pat and Amanda...they are done!! Whoo hoo! I hear the race went well and they were even a bit ahead of the planned pace. After the race, Lily I guess ran into the Penguin...and there was a big round of hugs. I really can't wait to hear more about this myself.

Greg and I got three miles in today at the mall as it was cold and rainy! I am very excited that Greg has decided to get into the training mode....guess he is really thinking about doing Chicago. Whoo hoo!!

Hate to cut this short, but I am pooped and gonna call it a night. I will post more tomorrow as I hear more about Columbus!!

Have a great evening!! And just for the record..since The Penguin loved his shirt and gave his blessing...I will work on getting that idea into motion!!! Question....Do we just want it to say "I had the courage to start" on the back with the renguin design...and use the same front that was on the shirt last year? Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

Liz
