Wk of Mar 18--WISH Walking/Running Club

:lmao: AND

But remember, I can't do the Minnie...

Me neither! But I can't complain too much since I am doing the Pig! ;) Stephen and I about passed out when we saw $40 a dayfor parking!! $40 A DAY!!!! Rachael Ray can eat for an entire day on that amount! :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

Well, it stopped raining, so it looks like the run is back for outside, BUT it is incredibly windy out there. It's going to be like running through water!!

I wonder whether the Hilton has an airport shuttle? That HAS to be less expensive than renting a car AND paying to park it, right?

AAA rate for the Hilton is $179. NOt great, but it'll pay for half a night's parking. ;)

How did you get that rate? When I put in our AAA number yesterday, it was giving me a rate of $230. :confused3 :confused3
:scared1: I have no idea. I'm not even sure if I was logged in. Did you do Fri to Sun? I should go see if I can get it again.

In btween clients so I am going to DIS a little...... But just real qquick!

Matt - DUDE! What happened....too many gels, too much gatorade? Running DOES make you gain weight!:rotfl:

Greetings -

This morning I did 3 miles at 4.0 at 1%. Still not fast enough to keep up with Cam, though. :rolleyes1

I got a pair of Champion compression shorts yesterday. Well, I can say...they certainly do compress. Unfortunately not enough. You can still show the wide screen version of "Titanic" on my back side. I like the way they feel though. Guess I'll just have to not care what I look like. :scared: Ugh.
Judy - I have to say that there are some things that NEVER look good on a woman and I feel like a whale when I wear my running shorts. However, I am sure you look MAH-VA-LOUS!

I have to say that the first 4 years I ran I gained weight too.....I tweeked my eating a little...well alot really and the weight just fell off. Protein, lots of veggies, fruit, nuts, cookies...nah, JK about the cookies.
I have become a lacto-ovo vegetarian...but I get enough protein from beans, nuts, eggs, milk, and my fave...peanut butter! Yeah, Im nuts....HaHa!;) But you don't have to be that extreem...if you like meat, just eat lean cuts...I started out with WW core!

CDC??? Center For Disease Control? Nah JK again! I know what it means.:lmao:

Ran between 9 and 10 miles on a trail today. I was just going to do 4, but it was too pretty...In fact, I did something REALLY nasty today (not including peeing in the woods:rotfl: ). I will only confess this to my runner buddies:rolleyes1 .
I kinda lost track of time while running so I did not have time to take a shower...so I just fluffed up my nasty hair and washed off and changed clothes...I didnot even take a shower:scared: ! And I was NASTY! I am still so nasty... :crazy2:

OK, I did have the wrong dates in, but I got $168 if you pre-pay. I wonder if it's because my AAA covers MI and IL??? Still not sure how many beds it has. Just says "standard" room.

ETA: I did it through the AAA website. It was much pricier just puttign my AAA # in their site.

As much as I hate to break it to y'all... $40.00 a night for downtown, secure, big city parking is not all that out of line. In Toronto we usually pay $25/night, in Chicago at the Hotel Monaco (highly recommended, $259 for the CDC weekend, walking distance to the park where the race starts) is $30/night and some of the hotels I am looking at booking for NYC... $60/night!! :faint: Thank goodness I will not have a car if I get in.

Judy--I'm looking at hotels for NYC right now...if nothing else to make a dummy booking. I keep reading that NYC can be basically SOLD OUT marathon weekend. It looks like the shuttles from the start run from midtown and lower Manhatten, so that wouldn't be a problem. There are a mindboggling number of choices-- most of them very expensive.

Does the CDC sell out?? I'm thinking that if NYC doesn't come through, then I can meet up with y'all in Chicago! :cool1:

Off to run!
Kevin :earsboy:

Umm, actually I meant at WDW. You could stay at our house for the NY marathon! Well, depending on what time you had to be there of course, but you're certainly welcome. And we don't even charge for parking! :rotfl:

LOL....oops. I'm all booked for WDW, just thinking about switching resorts. :) I would never intrude on your house. (Although some of these places want $800 a night... so if Mist doesn't mind a roommate...... :rotfl: )

That's the difference! I was looking through Hilton's website and putting our AAA # in. We did get the marathon rate of $189, so I am definitely NOT complaining.

Kevin--I was thinking the pricey parking really is the norm in "big" cities, even though I was born and raised in Cincinnati, I guess I am a country bumpkin! But hey, we are The Queen City! princess:

Christa--You said you work in a pretty bad part of town, right? Just say that your stink is your defense mechanism. ;) How hard was it for you to go vegetarian? I'd love to go veggie, but I know Stephen won't and I refuse to cook 2 dinners every night. It's hard enough to cook one sometimes! Although I gotta be honest and say I'd probably miss the meat at 'Ohana. :)

Please Kevin, we have five bedrooms and it's just the two of us. We have plenty of room. :goodvibes

Anyway, we'll worry about that after you get in. ;)

Hey, I thought you were going out for a run. Step AWAY from the DIS....

Good morning everyone!

Got a good run in yesterday after work. DH and I met up and ran this route on the base where he works. The entire thing is up and down hills. It was a great hill workout, we did about 30 minutes and I was spent by the end. I'm thinking of adding this in 1 day a week for a little variety. Let me tell you, these hills make the Disney ramps and bridges look like ant hills. Then again, I'm also not running them after 23 miles.

I train about 5 days a week. Some weeks I do 4 days running and 1 day XT and some weeks I will do 3 days running and 2 days XT. It just depends on how I'm feeling.

TGIF (well at least over here in Japan:cool1: )

Thank you all for the well WISHes and congrats on the new baby. She is absolutely wonderful. All we have to do now is to get her to stay awake during the day and sleep at night.

So, with the WDW full and half quickly filling up, I have the blessings from my wife to research the possibility of doing the full as a solo trip. That said, would anyone (Kevin, Dave?) be interested at this point of maybe splitting a room and cost? To answer prior questions about value resorts, I did All Star Sports for my last trip, and it was ok for what it needed to be - a place to sleep. Good transportation to/from the marathon and parks.

Welcome to the newbies and congrats to those who have gotten their steps in. I might actually be able to make my scheduled run tonight:yay: . Tonight should be 3 miles.

Gotta go help with the baby first though.

Paul

Wow everyone all I can say is that you sooooo much for all your advise :grouphug: I  this group!!!!!!!!!!!

Solo and anyone that might know - My hotel for the Orlando trip is on Research Park Drive. It is near the corporate offices of my company. Is that an okay area??????

Thanks!!!! I'm pretty certain I'm going over to WDW for the day on Sunday. I'll be so close to WDW that I don't think I'll be able to help myself. I've though about just doing DTD and maybe stopping at one of the resorts to eat though I don't know if I'd feel like an idiot eating alone in a sit down restaurant or not?????? Maybe going to the parks is a better idea :confused3

Used to be, but I haven't been in that area in a LONG time. It's right near my and Daunte Culpepper's alma mater, University of Central Florida (Go Knights!!!). I haven't been on campus in probably 10 years though.

There's a toll road (I think it's 417) that goes straight from Alafaya Trail (the road UCF is on) to WDW.

Martha - Alas, the TM sits unused. Got to work this morning and my shin had devloped shooting pains. I don't think it liked the sandals I was wearing. After lunch I changed into my running shoes (perks of having them in the car!) and the pain eased.

Monica - I'm envisioning some crazy scene from the game of Twister, just with snow as the background! As for the TM, my budget wasn't quite what some of these guys had. I only spent about $700 - got a Horizon CST3.6 folding model. I've only tried it in the store, since it's only been assembled for 48 hours now! But compared to what I had, it's deluxe!

Kristi & Judy - Add me to the list of No-Chicago. Oh yeah - and no-Minnie too! Guess I better hurry up and register for the half, or I'll be on the list of no-WDW too.

Leana - I'd stay at AKL regardless of construction. It's my favorite resort - I'd endure construction no matter what! DD is trying to talk me into really splurging for marathon weekend - she's dying to try Poly; I'm leaning more toward Port Orleans.

Matt - Amazing how much weight you can gain in the middle of a run?

I'd planned to try to run - either on the TM or outside - tomorrow morning before I head out of town for the weekend, but now that my shin has developed this strange pain, I'm wondering about giving it the weekend off. I guess I'll see how I feel in the morning and wing it. Otherwise, I doubt I'll have time with all the family stuff.

Jackie
