Wk of June 24--WISH Walking/Running Club

Just a drive-by for now but I just wanted to let everyone know that Southwest opened up their schedule through Jaunaury 11th this morning. I was able to snag great flights down to MCO for Marathon Weekend!!

Happy training to all!!

Keenercam wrote....Congrats on the great calf muscles. I have to tell you a funny story. Outside the back door of my building the bottom of the wall is silver/chrome and from the waist up it is windows. The other night, I was dressed for the gym and walked out the back door. As I was walking to the corner, I caught the reflection of my legs -- I actually stopped to look. I have always had very large, fat, legs with no ankle shape at all and from the front, my calves protruded so much beyond my knees. And yet, there they were -- lower legs with a profile to be proud of! Okay, you are all probably thinking I am so conceited. I swear I'm not! I am just amazed. I am having such a struggle with the scale and just when I feel like all my working out and conscientious eating is for naught, I realize my midriff doesn't stick out like a beer belly and my legs actually have a shape that makes me less embarassed to wear skirts or shorts in public. I think it is like Lily said, even if the pounds don't come off, there is some "rearranging" going on that makes us look better.

IMO, she's always had nice, shapely, legs... I've been noticing them since 1982. :thumbsup2 :flower3:

By the way, Cam just booked our Southwest Flights for the trip down to WDW for January! :cheer2:  :cool1:

Train hard, be happy!

Yaaa looks like quite a few of us got our flights down booked. I am coming in on Jan 10th.....

Hello all. I thought my pictures would help bump the snakes off the page but it seems the guys wanted to keep posting them. Maybe Samuel L. Jackson should have taken care of them since he did such a good job with Snakes on a Plane. (okay lame joke I know)

Today was supposed to be a run day but it was way too hot when I woke up and we have no AC at all in my house so the TM was not an option. I know it's not suggested that you do this but I"m switching my run and xt day. I did some weights today and will run tomorrow when it's supposed to be about 15 degrees cooler.

Anyone want to go buy me a dress for my grandparent's 60th wedding anniversary? Normally I enjoy shopping but the weather has me not wanting to go. The part is this weekend.

Are you all doing one way flights? I tried to do a round trip, returning on the 14th, and they said they are only booking thru the 11th???

Megan--As long as you get your workouts in, it doesn't really matter if you switch the days around. Good luck shopping!!!! Oh, and how do you live without a/c?????

As much as I love WDW I definitely could never live in FL....snakes, gators, huge spiders, bugs big enough to carry off small children....no thank you!!

Pat - 2 weeks into summer vacation and I'm not so sure I wouldn't like a couple of those big bugs to carry off a couple of small children!

Krista - I'm envious of your CP trip. It's been about 15 years since I've been. DW, my youngest sister (17 or 18 at the time) and I went for the day. We're standing in the Magnum line for about an hour. It's about as hot as Sandusky can be and my sister up and peels off her shirt and asks if her bra looks enough like a bathing suit top to get away with. Luckily, yes.

Cam - I thought of you the other evening while talking to my dad. He told me he had to miss work that day because he twisted his ankle (no, that's not why I thought of you!). It turns out that he was at my uncle's birthday party and saw his exercise ball in the corner (that's why!). A little while later and I'm sure a few adult beverages later, Dad gets the bright idea that he could really bounce on that thing. To hear him tell it, he was bouncing like Tigger on a pogo stick! Alas, all good things must come to an end!

He has a history of such shenanigans (sp?) so I guess I come by it honestly.

BTW - By law, I'm not allowed to comment on anyone's legs, but I'm happy for you!

Christa - DD3 was just diagnosed with a peanut allergy this week! Ughh! She went for the blood test and everything happened so fast she didn't say a word. About ten minutes later she said "I thought they were going to put a peanut in my mouth to see if I was allergic." Next time she'll know what's coming.

We've been through this drill before with DD10 (who outgrew it by the time she was 6) so we know what a royal pain it can be. Good luck with yours.

Cripes it was hot this morning!!! I was out before 8:00 and it was still pretty much unbearable. I didn't know how good I had it 3 months ago!

Take care everyone

Mike -- Oh, your poor Dad! I have to tell you it has taken some considerable effort to stay on the thing during crunches! Oh, and I am so happy to see you posting here and sharing your wonderful sense of humor! I have missed you! :goodvibes

Angie -- I was only able to book our flights down on Friday. Now we'll play the wait and see game for when they'll open the rest of January. Having each leg booked separately makes it much easier to re-book when a DING fare comes up, though, so I am not complaining too much about not being able to book roundtrip tickets.

That's how I figured it plus the weatherman on the news this morning said if you could avoid exercising outside today then you should do it because even if the morning the air wasn't safe. People always want to know how I live without AC but I've never had it to miss it. It was 102 when I left work yesterday, it was 92 when I left my bf's around 10. I pulled all the blankets off my bed, turned a fan on high blast directly on me and prayed to fall asleep... I wish my Dad would cave and get AC.

We always book one way flights also, for DINGS....please DING!!!!

I would have liked to book our return flight as well but oh well I can't be happy with the flight there, just might need a ride home....:rotfl: Anyone coming this far north??? Dave and Erica, you think the stang convertible could handle Toronto in January????

Problem will be I am sure when SW opens up the next set of dates my March break cruise will be in there and that is booking 3 flights again....I just booked my ToT ones there a little bit ago....ah that's OK, that is why I work:surfweb: Or at least it makes work bareable:rolleyes1

OK I will stop rambling now.....getting ansy to go home, only 30 mins left of work then I am off till Tuesday.....:woohoo: :dance3:

Hi all!!

Super drive-by.....

Just back from Toronto, where we had an AMAZING week!! I'm ready to go back today and run Scotia, trained or not.

Met a lot of new friends, met up with a bunch of old ones, ran a 25:29 PR on my 5K  , and had an impromptu dinner of store-bought lasagna with a couple of Canadian HGTV stars. You know... just ordinary vacation stuff. :thumbsup2

OK, I'm off to finish my way overdue race report and read through the past week of posts to catch up!

Happy training!
Kevin :earsboy:

Welcome back, Kevin! We've missed you! Great job on the PR!!! :thumbsup2
You just seem to make interesting friends whereever you go, don't you? ;) No exotic dancers this time?
Oh, and when you are catching up on posts --- beware of snakes!

Yes, I do seem to coem home with a fuller Roladex every time.

No, no exotic dancers this time. I DID however meet the mayor of Toronto... in a bar.... (It was an eventful week.....)

If you happen to see this in the next 40 minutes, what is on our training plan for tonight? I left my MfM book at home and I'm planning to hit the gym right after work. I think I am supposed to do 40 minutes of w3/r2 (same as last Wed), but I can't remember for sure.

Meghan -- My plan shows "rest" for tonight, but I am actually doing tomorrow's training -- 45 minutes w3/r2 -- tonight.

Thanks! I have to rearrange days in order to work around DH's schedule, so I will do tomorrow's run today. Boy, I am thrilled to see that I get to add 5 minutes to last week's workout.

Thanks for the lightening fast response! I'll think of you while I am on the TM. :)

Glad you had a great week in Toronto.

I thought we where going to bail on the Scotia Marathon cause while you where away we booked in to do the ToT weekend but DH still wants to go so we are still going.

Did you see on July 29th there is a run at Kew Beach for a Jazz festival and they have a 10 and 20K and they are free...they are calling it a tune for for the Scotia Marathon..

Oppss CSI commercial is over be back later.

Just a quick post. I need to get to bed. I got up at 4:30 this morning to get my run in before work since the forecast was for 95 and humid. The first 2 miles were on the treadmill then once it was a bit lighter out I finished up with 3 miles outside. I have to say I really don't like running so early in the morning. I'll have to get over that before January I guess.

Kim (& others): Thanks so much for the heads up about the SW flights. I've been trying to keep an eye on it, but missed that they opened up. I booked my flight down on Jan 11th.

When all of you say you're hoping for a Ding flight, do you just cancel the flight you booked and rebook for the new flight? Is there a penalty for cancelling?

Have a great night everyone.

Cindy
