Wk of June 24--WISH Walking/Running Club

Thank you for trying, Megan (great, great pix!) :thumbsup2

No thanks to you, Dave! ;) Now I get to speed past them twice!

OMG:scared1: :scared1:

The first thing I did was check and see where that snake lived, because I sure don't want it anywhere near where I live! As much as I love WDW I definitely could never live in FL....snakes, gators, huge spiders, bugs big enough to carry off small children....no thank you!!

Glad you could handle it so calmly though.

Gee, say something nice about a guy and he re-ppossts snake pix. ;) ;)

In order to help Cam get past the snakes.....

Here are pictures of my canine niece Zoe. I've been looking after her for a few days while her parents are on holiday. She doesn't care for drinking out of her water dish and much prefers to lap water from the faucet in the tub. My DB and SIL have been working hard to break the habit, but unfortunately after the weekend at my place she is back to square one. She wouldn't drink out of her dish and kept whining at the bath tub. In an effort to keep my niece fully hydrated and happy...I gave in. Watching her drink from the tub is a serious hoot, but I have obviously set my DB and SIL back weeks on their attempt to break this habit.

Yesterday as I was walking around my yard looking at my hibiscus, I noticed this little guy in one of my flower beds. I called inside the house for DH to bring me my camera, so I could snap a picture. He of course willingly abliged, and brought me my camera along with a shovel!! Neither one of us knew what kind of snake it was until I used the pics I took to do some research today. Lo and behold.... it was a dusky pigmy rattlesnake!! Yay Me!!

Cool looking snake! :thumbsup2

Oh....and since I already have two...

...that means I've had three furry things running around my house for a few days. I seriously don't think I can handle that many pets on an extended basis!

OK, can we PLEASE stop with the snakes?????

Leana - An aunt's job is not to be the disciplinarian. ;)

I don't have any training to report yet, but I'll post in an effort to get us to the next page - since the GUYS are apparently determined to keep re-posting the pix!

I've actually gotten over my snake phobia, which is good since there are usually a couple in our yard during the summer. And I see one occasionally on my runs since I like to run greenways; I just never have my camera. Last week I had just run past a dead one when I looked up and was face to face with a deer who had no intention of yielding the path. I had to almost stop and wait for him to move on so I could continue.

DH and I are supposed to go out tonight for 3 miles when he gets home - aha! I hear his car now!

Jackie - It could have been worse!! You could have been this lady!!

Spooked Deer Hits Runner
(AP) BRAINERD, Minn. Kandi Hanson has a history of run-ins with deer. She totaled her first car and damaged two others in collisions with deer. This weekend, the deer struck back.

As Hanson approached the halfway mark of the 10-kilometer Sour Grapes Half and Half run Saturday, a spooked deer darted out of the woods and crashed into Hanson, tossing the 28-year-old into the air and sending her sprawling onto the grass before disappearing into the woods.

"There were two deer and the first one literally flew by right in front of us and brushed us," the Pequot Lakes woman said.

Hanson and two friends, Lottie Oehrlein and Robin Warden, shrieked at their encounter with the first deer before cautiously continuing their run, oblivious of the second deer.

"We started running a little bit again and Lottie yelled out, 'Here comes another one' and I couldn't get out of the way fast enough, it plowed into me."

Hanson didn't know how to react.

"I was very surprised, my eyes were huge, I was part crying, part laughing. I didn't know what to do," she said.

But Hanson spit the dirt out of her mouth, brushed herself off and finished the race. She escaped with only minor scrapes, bruises and soreness.

Sour Grapes director Jeanne Larson said race organizers were prepared for common runners' ailments, but not this.

"When I'm running I consider myself lucky to even see a deer. Getting hit by a deer while running I don't consider so lucky," she said.

Although Hanson finished in 31st place, the middle school teacher didn't come away empty-handed. She received a first-place plaque for being airborne the longest.

Oh, Leana, aren’t you the sweetest? And a doting, spoiling furbaby auntie, too! Don’t worry, spoiling is an auntie’s job! All of the puppies (or puppy-mutts as my DD so affectionately refers to them) are adorable!

Thanks, Vic! Gee, I guess that's what we get for going on and on and on about how wonderful our WISH guys are! :lmao:

Nothing to do with the snakes ... really. Great pics. Did you use a digital or film. Wonderful clarity and the contrast between the black & gray is outstanding.

OK, I don't really care about the photography, but the snake is cool and I enjoyed the deer story too.

Okay, really, now stop it with the snake reposting! I have probably the biggest snake phobia of anyone I know. Can't even look at pictures in books--this is going to give me a coronary!:scared1:

Love the deer story! And I thought rabid geese were bad!:rotfl2:

cam--and just so you know--99% of the time here crying is melodrama--I have two soap opera stars in the making!:rotfl:

Now that just ain't right. :scared:

Okay, I think I'll be back next week -- it's hard to hit "quote" and carry it over to another thread. :lmao:

OMG, Dave DH almost choked on his pizza, it must be a guy thing, he is still laughing over that photo.

The snake and spider one did us in, DH lates snakes and I hate spiders. First thing DH said was where does she live???....lol

Leana love the puppy photos....so cute.

Just got back from getting the boy his dress shoes for grad, he assumed he could just wear running shoes with his cap and gown:eek:

I have to learn how to post photos as i will post some from grad on Friday,

OK, off for a 4K soon, it is over 40 with the humidex right now, even the pool isn't helping it is warm.

Have a great night all.
