Wk of June 24--WISH Walking/Running Club

I haven't been offically added to the team. Can someone please add me? My real name is Tricia. I am planning on doing the TOT 13K but may have to settle for the 6K instead - I still have hope for the longer distance.

Dave & Erica - cute kitties - love the names - sounds like they found the right family!! I love my shelter cat - every time I hear a story about someone getting their pet at a shelter I want to hug my shelter cat and wish I could adopt them all!!

Hi Tricia, of course you may become part of the team. There are some requirements though:

You must be able to laugh uncontrollabely and often. You must believe in the magic that comes from a smile and a positive attitude. You must be able to look in the mirror and say I'm worth the effort to stay healthy.

While we are at it I'll induct you into the Royal Court of the "You Ain't Right Club". By the power infested in me by Queen Judy:snooty: , you are now the Tricia, Pretty Princess of natures small treasures'.

Our pound kittens are a house full already. They are such attention hounds. They have already walked around on the chocolate lab.

Dana -- congrats to Michael! I am so glad he is getting positive feedback from other athletes out there. :thumbsup2 And awesome time with that stroller, chickie!

Judy -- One month of not training will be a small sacrifice to make now so that your foot doesnt' get worse. Do you really think any of us will let you go a day without WISH team support and constantly reminding you of what you will be able to accomplish when your recovery is done? Just think -- you will be back on your foot more than 2 months before the ToT! And you KNOW you can do those miles! You have done 5 miles more than that with no problem! I think putting your running shoes and WISH shirt and all your Bingham books in plain sight (around the rocker and in front of the fridge and pantry! ;) ) is a great idea!

Now, as for all this talk of WISH DH's. There is some real serious competition here and I thank God all the time that the women here have such awesome DH's -- even those whose DH's don't do these races are supportive and help to pick up the slack to give their DW's time to train. I'm not sure who I admire more -- WISH teammates who are couples and carve time out of their schedules to train together, or those who have to coordinate with non-runner spouses to carve time out and share responsibilities to be able to make the commitment to this endeavor.

Can I say something seriously here? I really cannot believe how nice our male WISH teammates are! I really did think Howard was one of a kind until I got to know more of our male teammates who are so supportive and funny and caring and encouraging! We are all so edified by the amazing people here. Without going into any detail, I will just say that any one positive interaction with the WISH team men more than makes up for a lifetime of emotional and psychological abuse from men I encountered from the time I was a morbidly obese 10 year old (yes, Dave, I was one of those kids whose parents thought huge quantities of greasy foods were just fine for children) until I met Howard and realized that there were good men in this world. Seriously, you guys are the absolute best! :lovestruc

Wow, I booked ages ago well seems like ages ago and haven't gotten any confirmation. Does anyone know if they released the January 08 rates yet?? Congrats to you.

Hey, I was just thinking how much we will all stand out in our WISH shirts during a night run Wahooo

Yikes...gotta get to work.

Kim

When I called the other day to change my dates for Jan, the CM said that they don't send out letters anymore for room only, just email. I haven't got an email yet either.:confused3 I'm not sure about ap rates yet, I want some too!

  I concur with WWDave that our WISH Women are a pretty awesome bunch too. I have been majorly inspired by everyone on this team. It's a pretty great group to be a part of, and I thank you for welcoming me. Wow, is it December around here?

Thank you WWDave - I think I can handle those requirements!! And my Princess title is PUR-FECT!! LOL

Hockeychic & Stacey - I don't think the released the AP rates yet for Jan 08 - I think they are only out up through Sept 29 - since I am patiently waiting for the rates to be released so I can book for Oct for the TOT 13K.

Don't hold your breath for an AP rate, a CM told us that AP rates are rarely released for marathon weekend because the weekend sells out on it's own.

Cam and SW Dave--I agree, everyone is just amazing and so incredibly supporting. We are so lucky and fortunate to have each other.

Judy--I know exactly how you feel with missing training for surgery. I'm feeling the same way with thoughts of babies dancing in our heads. I know between being pregnant and giving birth, I'm most likely not going to be able to do any major distance (half marathon +) for at least a year. And once I am able to run again and then run distance, training for marathons and deciding who gets to run what marathon and who has to sit on the sideline with a baby is going to take a lot of juggling. That's one of the major reasons I decided to run the Columbus marathon in October, I want to have one more marathon under my belt.

Maybe you can put your running shoes all around the crib. ;)

You guys have to keep running and training and racing. What GREAT ROLE MODELS you will be for the kiddies! :woohoo:

Drive by post......Sorry!

Did a little over 1 hour last night on the trails with some running buddies. It was humid and hot...then it started thundering and lightening! We had to get bac and were at the furthest place we could be from the car...we did neg splits getting back!:lmao:

Had a show this morning and was going to bike this afternoon...BUT.....princess: 7 has another really bad reaction to something (and benadryl (SP?) did not help much this time) so I am going to spend the rest of the day at the Doc with her...lotts of :wizard: :wizard: to me and her! SHE HATES THE DOC and goes crazy! No, I am not kidd'n...:sad1: :scared: :guilty: I am trying to prep her, but I know what is ahead of me today.:scared:

Christa- Good job with your 1 hour run ahead of the thunder and lightning. Hope your DD7 feels better soon. Does she have the same bug that you had a little bit OK? Sorry to hear she goes so crazy at the doctor's. I know how draining that must be for you too. Sending out good thoughts.

Oh, we'll keep running and racing, you won't get rid of us that easily!!! It just will never be as easy as it is now!

Krista--it definitely isn't as easy with little ones in tow--but it is doable--we seem to find a way. DH and I have 4 races on the calendar that we're doing together, 5 if you count Minnie--just takes some extra planning--but well worth the effort! How thankful are we that DSIL moved to Ft. Myers this past year--we get her a park ticket and we get babysitting in return!:cool1:

Christa--PD that your daughter has a non-traumatic dr.'s visit, and that they find out what she reacted to!:wizard:

Cam--you are such a sweetheart! Scott thought that I was kinda nutty to spend so much time "chatting" with all the WISHers until he met ya'll in May. Such a great bunch! Oh, and I was thinking of you today, b/c I realized that a year from now we'll be getting ready to head to Hilton Head for a week of relaxation!

Well, got another screaming kiddo--gotta find out what the prob is this time!

Stephanie -- You are another one of us blessed with a "D"arling hubby. I think he was a bit shell-shocked at the WISH meet to have this strange lady talking his ear off for a while and then leaving (he was probably relieved) and then coming back with a baby in arms and continuing to talk his ear off. Then there was the craziness of Jellyrolls and finally a babbling breakfast at Spoodles. And through it all he was a sweetie and so good-spirited! Yep, you got a good one, too!

P.S. I hope the screaming was melodrama and not real drama! :rotfl:

Yesterday as I was walking around my yard looking at my hibiscus, I noticed this little guy in one of my flower beds. I called inside the house for DH to bring me my camera, so I could snap a picture. He of course willingly abliged, and brought me my camera along with a shovel!! Neither one of us knew what kind of snake it was until I used the pics I took to do some research today. Lo and behold.... it was a dusky pigmy rattlesnake!! Yay Me!!

I'm not sure whether I am more freaked out about the snake? or the spider? Then again, I wonder how short that spider's lifespan was, being that close to the snake.
Not sure I can visit this thread again until we get to the next page. :lmao: Can a bunch of people with big, lengthy signatures please post or bump this thread so that we can get to a snakeless, spider-less page 7? Oh, did I mention I am phobic?

Didn't we have a rule about posting pix like that?

Yikes Dana! I can't eeven think about being brave enough to take a pic!

COOL!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Geesh I keep looking at the picture of that snake thinking what beautiful coloring he has. I'm not afraid of spiders, although I don't like them near me. Snakes don't bother me at all. But to get the snake pictures out of your head and maybe bump this to the next page here are some pictures of bull ridding. Unfortunately it was hard for my cousin to get these, she's not the best with digital cameras but hopefully you get the idea.

My brother's best friend has essentially become more a part of our family then his due to him not having a stellar home life. His gf also has serious family issues, she was visiting him for the weekend and we took her with us for a girls night. She has a twin sister who never lets her go out with her. So sad. Anyways she wasn't great at ridding the bull but she was great at falling so I had to share this picture. (She had a blast by the way and she's extremely shy.)

The following are one or two of my rides.

It was tons of fun and the pictures don't even show how great the people watching were too. Guys went all out wearing their cowboy boots and hats, they had done this before. The guys running it were announcing different things and getting the crowd into it. At one point I'd slipped and was on the bull almost sideways and when I pulled myself back up the guy was screaming with excitement and one of the regulars came over to say he thought I did great. I will definitely go again. So much fun and my shoulders got a good work out. Next time I fully intend to wear one of my cowboy hats as well, I told my cousin I'd fit in wearing it.

Cam- Read that you got a cowboy hat. I think the wish team needs to organize a bull ridding event some place. It'd be good clean fun.

MSDave-I don't think reposting the snake pictures was what Cam had in mind when she was looking to bump the pictures of the page. :)

Hi to the rest of you. I don't want to make this post longer then it already is so I'll leave it at that. No xt yet for me today and there may not be as the temps outside are hovering around 100. Today might just be about drinking enough water to keep the heat from really bothering me. Hope everyone has good workouts today and those with injuries are feeling better.
