Wk of June 22- WISH Walking/Running Club

Happy Friday!

Just a quick drive by as it's month end and folks here seem to thing everything is all of a sudden urgent.

Had a great workout last night. An hour of weight and core work followed by 35 min on TM. Did what my trainer has done to me couple of times - start out at comfortable rate then start increasing the incline by 2 every two minutes until you reach 9 then increase by one ever minute until the max (which is 15 on these TMs). Then gradually back it down in twos. Goal is to stay at the pace you originally set then entire time.

I normally keep incline at 1 but after doing these once I get down to 2 feels great and stay there for another 10 min including cool down.

Have a casual 5K this weekend (still trying to figure out when 3 miles became casual....). Taking a friend of ours with for her first 5K. Should be fun.

Have a great day everyone!

Please! Somebody please! Tell me how to make the meetings stop! Alllll week I've been going from one meeting to the next! And nothing - NOTHING - get accomplished! :headache: Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

OK work vent over.

In my continued efforts to pick up my pace I did a speedy 2 miles this morning. I'm not saying how speedy because it's all relative, but speedy for me anyways.:thumbsup2

Looks like I'm doing the "Four on the Fourth" with my race maniac husband Charlie "Karnazes". Already he's looking for a race for the following weekend. WHAT have I done!?!?! :faint:

Debra - Oh you crack me up! :lmao: Draft off Frank? I don't even think I could do that. He'd be done and could drive back and pick me up. Ha ha ha! Sorry about your ticket. That stinks.

Maura- I do replace the standard shoe liner with one that is a bit more supporting. The ones I use are SuperFeet blue. Good luck with the shoe woes.

Debra- I do mostly local races for convenience. I try to do at least one a weekend if there is nothing going on and those get expensive enough without travel. The one fall marathon is only about 1 mile form my house so it is convenient. The other one in Columbus is about 2 hours away and will turn into a weekend trip. I would like to go do one farther but the Italy trip, the upcoming podcast cruise, and the high likelihood that I am doing the 2010 WDW Full means I have to rein in the travel expenses.

This weekend is another double up weekend and the last one for a while. One of the runs is through an arboretum out east which should be a very cool run.

Queen Judy, I saw your post to post on the weekly thread even if you don't read every post or actually have anything to post or something like that.

Gee I figured you guys heard enouth of my nonsense so not coming on here very often was my community service project. But since you asked:

I will scamper in and say hi to everyone.

Hi WISH Friends

Visiting Panda:hippie:

Crossing Dave off the list of people I have to get Vic's S&R team to find.... :upsidedow

Since I'm new no one probably really missed me over here, but I thought I'd check in!

I'm in the process of repeating C25K (It's going really well), I have a 5K next friday in NC while we're on vacation. :cool1: I've bought some pilates DVD's and hope to get started on those after vacation!

We're off to NC after work for a week to visit with DH's family and have a 1st birthday party for DD, who turned 1 on Wednesday!

I am officially in for TOT in October and am going to sign up for a 10K RFTC in early october!

Have a good week everyone, Happy 4th and :wizard: to anyone racing the next couple weekends!

Amy :)

Thanks for the kick in the bootie, Judy ;). yes...TOTAL LTO. I've felt quite like a hamster on a wheel only zooming in to post numbers and occasionally check on some journals. Computer time has been sorely lacking this entire month! Thanks for the wake up call...we forget how others worry about us here. You are so sweet to post that reminder!

I sure hope everyone here is doing ok!?!?! I do try to skim and read...no way I'll be able to sufficiently catch up but I want to make a few shout outs...

Scott...He's alive and well...I know for a fact...but he's also busy and nursing a foot injury right now :(. So to my buddy...here's hoping you heal up fast and get to run the Peach Tree!!!! Vegas planning is coming along great!!! 11 days I believe. :cool1:

Deb...Glad you're in the new digs and glad you had a decent 4 miler. As for pace...I pretty much have completely thrown my pace worries out the window. I now only focus on the "feel" of each run which means sometimes pace is quick and sometimes slow...but a good run is my only indicator of success. If I feel good after...then I'm a happy girl. Thanks for thinking about me btw :). Here's some lovin' right back at ya!

Frank..the arboretum run sounds FUN!!!! Have a great weekend of runs.

Liz...have a great casual 5k :). Sounds like fun to me!

AlohaJeff....YUM...I'm starving and that BBQ sounds heavenly right now! LOL!

Stephanie...Hope you have a great vacation...I'm heading out tomorrow myself with the kids to the beach for a week. YAY!

Tracy...How are ya girl?? Sorry I've been MIA. I am really trying to focus my spin students on HR monitoring so they remain in the fat burn. It's an EXCELLENT training tool. Glad to hear you are utilizing it!!! :thumbsup2

OK...sorry...missed a TON of peeps. I'm just pressed for time. Quick update on me. I got Spin Certified last weekend :goodvibes ....so now I'm officially legit in my spin classes. LOVE THEM! Still teaching a good load of classes per week...now it's mixed between spin and pilates....so it's a nice change for me. Doing three solid runs per week...right now I'm in my 4/4/7 phase of training and it feels REALLY good. I no longer worry about pace but instead go by how I feel to determine if a run was successful. If I need a slow day...so be it :). Turns out I'm in a happy place around that 10 mpm pace...maybe it will drop...maybe not...but I'm no longer trying to be in the 8 mpm range. It just wasn't pretty. The only thing I'm really focusing on during the runs is keeping pace consistent mile to mile....that's really worked well fo rme and I feel like a stronger runner for it! So that's it...BUSY with the kids...my DD10 is on a travel softball team that is winning....so that's taken up a HUGE chunk of my life. I'll try to post more often so you guys don't think that I've fallen off the earth.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!! :sunny:

ok i'm taking Judy and Tracy's advice and have come over to say HELLO WISHERS i'm alive and breathing (and running a bit too :rotfl: ).

I have to admit i don't usually post over here, but might try to pop over next week. That's my new challenge for the week! I managed a 5.2 mile run in my perfect light drizzle conditions. Anyone else find that they run better along busy roads? I refused to stop whilst in view of 'normal' non-running passing traffic! :rotfl2:

I have a day off on sunday (whoop whoop) so will try to get somethin in then.

So in the 1.635428 minute window I have while the dog scarfs down dinner and then comes back to bug me......

Amy Glad to see you back and congrats on the spin certification--it's the one class I haven't been to at the gym yet--and it is still a very popular class. Every day at 6 am or even 5:45! I suppose now that I am doing some biking (and getting ready to buy a new one), I should add it to the list of XC.

Scott- in absentia Hope your foot injury heals soon.

Debra I have to meet you--and I will buy the G&T AND the ice cream--perhaps we can get a group to go through a Kitchen SInk!

Jeff I do all my training solo--but I think I would be hard pressed to pass up your training group (and dinner!).

As for me I had my video gait analysis today. Really nice guy--great runner. Basically, they video you and then use the film to take some measurements. So he determined that I do not overpronate, but did point out a few things to correct with my stride (like my butt sticks out a little!) I also got a few exercises to strengthen abductors, hip external rotators, glutes, along with some insoles (mostly cushion--a little bit of support) and a foam roller. So now it's time to just work through all this.

Happy weekend everyone--I'm off for all next week--YEah!

Judy, if you figure out how to eliminate meetings, PLEASE let me know. I go loopy sitting in the conference room, wondering what in the hell am I doing here?

Then I think, oh well, I'm getting paid to sit here for an hour. :lmao:

Switching topics, did anyone else watch the Disney World Assault trial on TruTv? I videotaped it since I had to go to work today  .

Thanks for the feedback on my training. I see the responses were a couple of pages ago, but I think the boards were down when I tried to log in last night. I did decide to repeat week 2 and last night run went much better.

I am trying to keep up with everyones successes and am verrrry impressed.:worship:
Keep up the great work guys.

Jim

Tonight on NBC is the USA Olympic Track and Field Trials.
(I like Lauryn Williams, Silver Medalist at the last olympics, she went to the "U" University of Miami) Starts here at 8pm EST.
----For those who are interested.----

Hey all! We all made it safe and sound on the island this afternoon. And immediately the kids were in the pool--glad it's in the yard of the house MIL rented. So, I decided, now's a good a time as any to test my swimming skills. Okay, so found out that a swimmer I am not, but I did get a nice little workout in swimming some laps. That and making sure that two little ones didn't drown. Tomorrow is the beach! Yahoo! I might (stress might) get up early and do a little beach running before lounging the day away. Anyone jealous yet? Okay, everyone is tuckered out, so it's going to be an early night for us! Will check in later in the week.
