Wk of June 14 - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Happy Aloha Friday WISHers. It's time to pau hana, and suck 'em up!

Thursday's training involved 8 1/4 miles by feet, 1:10. 14 miles by bike, 1:20.

Starving when I was done, priceless. LOL.

Hi all,

I'm sorry it's been a while since I checked. My summer is crazy, but I'm now back in actual training rather maintenance.

Just did a 35 minute tempo averaging 7:45 and have done 2 3 milers at under a 8 minute pace and a 5 x hill workout at the same pace.

I've got new group of friends who are totally into me being "good" and brag about me to their other friends when I win my age group at little local fun stuff. They've got me seriously considering hiring a coach after my next half to get a better idea of where my potential lies. It still amazes that I'm thinking this way and training at sub-8s after just less than a year of running.

Best,
Jennifer

It has been rainy fun around here. Difficult to get in those outdoor treks. I did manage to get a bit out in between rain drops though.

Keep at it everyone!

Maura, congrats for signing on for your event.

Jennifer, I'm happy to hear that you've got support. That is such a fun thing! You are doing so well that is for sure.

Jennifer, you were apparently born to run.

I had the first of my 2 5Ks tonight. It was down in Jackson Twp, OH (pretty much Massillon) which means nothing to pretty much everyone except Lily. Our weather must be doing a tribute to the old pre-show movie from the Living Sees because it has been raining and raining and raining...the deluge!

It started at 9:30 so it was dark. I love running at night and do almost all of my training runs after dark but there are street lights by me. The streets for the run were dark. All the local track teams were doing the race to which is always a bit of a zoo. Despite the faith it took for each foot-fall, hoping that was a patch and not a pothole, it was a lot of fun. I finished in 19:36 and got 2nd in my age group.

Tomorrow the 5K is also late but at 7 instead of 9, and it finishes between my favorite wine bar (Market Street Wine Bar) and the best brewery in the world (The Great Lakes Brewery) :thumbsup2

Hey WISHers....
I got up with the motivation of a turtle this morning. Just didn't have a good night and well, ya know how that goes in the morning. Because it's SFLA I need to just get up and get it done, before the heat index reaches 100 and before the afternoon storms creep in. So I sat there for awhile thinking about what I should do. Dave Parfitt was the only one up this AM on FB and he basically told me to get out there and kick some butt! I don't know about kicking butt, but because SOMEONE (anyone) told me to go out there and get it done - OUT I WENT!!!!
So, I did do 3 miles, jusut not the 4 I usually do. I used my ipod today for a training wog which I normally don't do, but I thought I needed it. I am sure some of you, when you hear a song, just gets to you in some way - not sure where it comes from. Do you ever just close your eyes while listening to it or sing at the top of your lungs, well I had two of those moments while out today. One song was "All the things she said" by TATU (beat was good to run to) and the other was "Gone too soon" by Michael Jackson.
So, done with my miles for today. I am on week three of the 100 pushup challenge but doing week two again, column two as I wasn't ready to move on according to the website. I'll just keep trudging along.

Frank: Great Job!!!:woohoo: After hearing about your stonker run and then doing so great at the 5K!! Even with all the rain and potential "potholes". I would have been very nervous about stepping into a hole myself. GOOD LUCK tonight!

Maura: Hey girl!! How's it going? Great for you - signing up for a TRI!!:thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear all about it!

Lily: Hey fellow Warrior!! Sorry to hear about all the rain!! I know what that is all about, its just here at least it is not an all day thing. Keep at it!:)

Jennifer: WOW, thinking of getting a coach - cool;) glad to hear you have some good and supportive friends that helps soooooo much!!

Noah: Hi
Duckie: hey you... :wave2:

Aloha Jeff: You crazy bruddah!!:worship:

Liz: Hey my fellow amiga - how are you doing? So glad to hear your tri went well, even if you had some "learning" moments. Can't wait to see you guys in November!!!! Wish it was hear now!

DK: Hi! :flower3:

Well, everyone that I missed - I am sorry:upsidedow Have a great Saturday everyone!!!!!

Frank - Fabulous job on the first 5K. Congratulations on placing! Good luck with tonight's run. We've done one 5K at night - it's certainly a different feeling when you don't know exactly where your feet are going to land.

Lily - Sorry about all the rain. We had 5" in one day this week, but it fell overnight and early AM. Couldn't use it as an excuse not to run!

Maura - Congrats on signing up for your tri! I have nothing but admiration for you tri-ers! DD will be going to ECU this fall. She's been at camp this week, so DH and I have been pretending she's already gone. Don't tell her, but we're kinda enjoying it! I will be glad to see her come home tomorrow though.

Tracy - Great job getting out there this morning. It doesn't matter if you cut the mileage shorter - you got it done. And if your heat is anything like ours this weekend, it should count as double anyway. I've definitely had moments on the TM where I think I just can't do the run, and then a certain song comes up on the playlist and suddenly I feel like I can run forever. It's so much fun when that happens!

Galloway group did 6 very wet miles this morning. It was 80 degrees at 6:00 when I got up. Don't even want to know what it was when we finished our run. All I care about is that I finished.

Then I came home and sent an email to Anthony Travel and committed to the WDW Half Marathon! I can't book online - we really want to stay at POFQ, which had been on their accommodations list until last week when they switched it to CB. I emailed them and asked if there was any way we could book through them and still stay at POFQ, and she told me she could make it happen if I gave her a few days. So now I have to wait for my confirmation, but there shouldn't be any problems...

Jackie
