Wk of June 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hello All

We 3 returned from Italy last week and I intended to check in, but every evening I wasn't functioning too well, so I thought it best to come in for the new week.

We had a great time, and walked all over Venice, Florence, and Rome. We also sprinted through Heathrow Airport carrying our hand luggage, the only time we realy exercised for 2 weeks. The good part is we walked so much I didn't gain a pound. I hoped my legs wouldn't lose fitness (falsely it turns out), but I was sure the cardiovascular fitness would slip some (correct).

Last week I biked 2 times and lifted once before the first run back today. I hoped for 7 miles and it was pretty obvious pretty soon that 7 wasn't going to happen today. I was able to do 6.25 miles at 9:40 pace, but after the run my quads were pretty sore. My quads are always the first thing to go in a long race, and I try hard to work them by running, biking, and lifting, but apparently sitting outside on the lagoon in Venice, eating and drinking too little wine quickly turns your quads to goo.

This was the last time this year when I'll be out of training for more than 3 days. I'm hopeful for good results at the BAA Half, the Tower of Terror, and the Disney full, so it's time to get going on that training!!

Colleen - I missed the details on your half marathon. I'd love to hear about your effort and result.

MSW Dave - I know you're off for Ipanema right now (if you see the girl please give her my best pirate: ) but if it helps when you see it, my solution to running when our daughter was little was doing it after she went to bed. I would step outside at about 9 p.m. and would run between 4 and 8 miles before coming back in. I had lots of measured courses around our neighborhood (complete with spray painted mile markers) and could get lots of good training in after she was asleep. This didn't work with the long runs, which I would do really early Sunday mornings (which was also necessary in the heat and humidity of Austin, Texas 8 months out of the year).

I wish you the best in your situation. It is very difficult in 2007 to manage all the demands on our time and still find time for ourselves.

Good for you Kathy and give Lynne our best.

WW Dave - you are correct. We all do the distance, and our only competition is with ourselves. I don't worry much about the guys in the lead pack, and I suspect they don't spend much mental energy worrying about me.

Jen - if you want a 2:45 in Chicago you will need to do some workouts where you carry that pace (is that about 12:20 mile?) for a decent distance, certainly 10 miles. If you're not able to do that in training I'm afraid on race day if you try to hold that pace you'll ask too much of your body in the early miles, which will make the last few miles really miserable. If you are able to do that in training then absolutely go for it in Chicago. The key is to step up to the starting line knowing your training makes your target pace and result possible.

Best to all

Craig

Craig - Benvenuto indietro il mio amico! I hope you all had a great time and ate some fantastic food!
SkyDave - Good to hear things may have turned the corner for your marathon training with your DW. An adult weekend to WDW would be a great trip. Tenha um desengate grande a Rio meu amigo!
Shan - Sound like a fun time you had, and WTG for keeping up on the training.....but did you have to mention Mickey Bars (:woohoo: )...YUM!
Monte - Sorry to hear you weren't able to run your race, but it's great you turned a negative into a positive by volunteering. Way to Go!
Stephanie - Hopefully today was a better day at work...I hate those days (that was Friday for me).
Tiberius - Good job getting the LR despite the sticky humidity!
Mel - Great job on the 6 miles! Did you try anything different to stop the side stitch or did it just give up knowing it couldn't stop you? Seeing the U.S. Women take on New Zealand in Soldier Field would be a great opportunity!
Christa - Wow...WOW...you had a pretty busy weekend! Running and a double dose of cross training the same day. Novice? Hah! They know not what they say!
Kathy - Great job on the training! Pardon me for asking, but what is TNT? Does it stand for Team iN Training? Just wondering...I'm pretty new at all of this.
PrincessMomma - Keep cool in the heat. I don't know what the climate is like in NC, but here in Iowa it can be sporadic. Yesterday at 6am it was 49, today it was closer to the mid 60's. The humidity can be a real bear, too.
WWDave - Hope you had a nice 3 miler today. :thumbsup2
Vic - I know it Sunday, Race Day, but did you get out and try the new shoes? I'll need to replace mine soon (like next month maybe).

8 mile LR this morning. After yesterdays 5K and doing 8 Miles today my legs are pretty P.O.'d at me. They really didn't want to go running this AM, but after 2 miles, they figured I was pretty much ignoring their complaints. Miles 2-7 went really well, but then the last mile they had enough and started aching again. Finished the run and stretched, ice bathed, and massaged them to keep them happy. Just taking the rest of today easy, even though the lawn needs shortened...again.
Next weekend is the Quad Cities Triathalon that takes place at one of the local county parks. We plan on taking our trailer out there and camp, and watch the race on Saturday. One of my goals down the road is to train and compete in a tri, but that is WAY down the road (so far, I'll need to ask TOM-TOM for directions). But I hope to take some nice pics.

Happy Training!:yay:

Did a really great 3 miler today to end my week at 20miles:cool1: I also did 30 minutes of xt after I got back home.

SWDave I'm glad that your wife is coming to terms with your running!

Monte I hope your feet get happy really soon!!! Volunteering for a race is cool at least you get to see the winner before the finish line.

WWDave I keep telling you You ain't right!!!!

Erica

Good evening everyone.

Hit the TM this morning for 2 miles (.5 walking and 1.5 a slow jog). The foot felt pretty good. So did the new shoes. No foot issues after I finished, so we'll see how everything plays out.

Kathy - WTG with the training.

Monte - Sorry you couldn't run the 1/2. Glad to hear you volunteered. :thumbsup2

Shan - WTG with getting your training in while on the boat.

Craig and Martha - Welcome back!

Andrew - Congrats with the 8 miler, and the 5K yesterday! The shoes are comfortable. I think I laced them too tight, though. But, that's an easy fix.

Erica - WTG with the 3 miler.

Boy this is moving quickly again. Reading everything last week was quite interesting. People are definately earning their membership in the new "club". :lmao:

My parents are off again and things are getting back to a normal schedule. At least as much as it can with a baby and 4 yo. ;) Timmy is now getting to a 3.5 hour feeding schedule and he is still going through the night. Although he wakes up at 5 wanting to play but we don't have to feed him which is nice.

Training wise, due to thunderstorms and late dinners, I only got a bike ride in on Tuesday and did my long run (6 miles) Saturday. The run was there, it wasn't that bad but wasn't that great either. I am going to have to find something to train for this fall since the incentive level has waned quite a bit now.:rolleyes1 I think there is a running race series around here that I may take part of in the fall and spring. Just trying to figure out all the schedules and if I will be here for most of them. This week should be back to normal though, providing it doesn't rain...

Vic - Glad the foot is better and the shoes seem to work. You could always come to Melbourne for a running store;) , ours seem to be open all the time.

Erica - Great job in getting the miles in this week.

Andrew - Hope your legs stop rebelling. That is a great job getting the back to back runs in. Hope you have a good weekend at the triathalon.

Craig - Glad you had a good trip and made it back safely. As an aside, I think you are a much better pirate than those on the new TV show.

Jen - I understand the heat issue. After the yardwork today, I am quite ready for the cool weather to come back.

Monte - Sorry you couldn't participate in the half marathon but glad you were able to get there to help out.

Kristi - I want to sleep till noon but certain someones won't give me that opportunity. Maybe I can bribe them :rolleyes1 .

Shan - Glad you had a great trip. You definately did more than I would have on the ship. You are doing great with your mileage and times.

Lily - Glad you had a great trip and loved the picture, I know I am slow with this but I will catch up slowly.;)

Tiberius - Great job on getting out even in the not so great conditions.

Mel - Great job on the zen run and not having any pain. Hope everything works out with getting the tickets to the soccer match.

Christa - Only 12 miles...with all the shows...and biking 50 miles...oh my what a slacker. :lmao: Would you mind letting us know how you harnessed the energy of your JRT. Just reading about all your workouts makes me tired. Catching up, hope you are able to make it in January. Hope those guys you passed were properly put in their place but all they probaly saw was a blur as you sped away.

MS Dave - Glad that things are looking up for your running. Hopefully DW can find something for her freedom as well. That said, I usually wind up running when most everyone is asleep, kind of like Craig. Although then I want to sleep during the day which Billy makes sure doesn't happen by poking me. Have a good trip and try not to work too hard.

WW Dave - Hope your walk was cool today. You are definately a good member of YARC. I just shake my head and hope that Lynnda doesn't get any ideas.

Stephanie - Hope today was a better day.

Kim - Hope your race was good this morning. Now that you are experienced in cleaning, you can practice some more at our house. :lmao:

Kathy - Glad you were able to get out with your group this week. Good luck with keeping Lynne in line.

Colleen - Good luck with getting your training in with the kids out of school.

Bill

Evening team. My LR this am went well. 6 miles at 8:45 pace. But, Lordy, was it ever humid! I stopped for a drink at the park and I was literally dripping with sweat. But of course, while I was at work today, it rained buckets and buckets so the air is nice cool and dry right now.

Craig and Martha--great to have you back!

Andrew--great LR today, and after a race yesterday--you go!

Well, it's time to shed the work clothes for something a little more comfy. I've gotten used to either wearing running stuff or comfy clothes everyday, that dressing up for work is quite bothersome. Have a great night all!

Not much from me today, I made cotton candy for 2 hrs at church picnic and then I cleaned the pool. I got about a 200 yd swim in before the little one meandered out of the sandbox and wanted to throw balls at me (his favorite pool game)

I have dillied and dallied about my workouts for about 3 weeks now, sometimes I would get one in, most times not. I feel that I was justified because of all the stuff going on, but I am ready to TRAIN again. I have a revised training plan - I am back to 2 a days, and I am so excited to get going. I called my training partner tonight, and said that I WOULD be at the gym at 9 and she was more than welcome to join me. I am just really ready to be back!

Dave - I hope that you LOVE Rio! Have fun!

Dave - Your story reminded me of someone who trains at my gym. She was training for a local 1/2 Mary, and the next time I saw her I asked how the race went. Her reply was that she finished in under 2 hours but it was awful. I told her that I hated she didn't have fun, and her reply was that races are not supposed to be fun. They are hard, you have to run hard, push your way through, and if you don't PR then you had a bad day. :sad2: It made me sad for her because I love racing. I did the same race she did a few years ago, and it is a blast! They have bands, cheerleaders, and the crowd is awsome. She missed all of that...

Kim - Will you come clean my house next?

Kathy - Great week total!!!!

Princessmomma - Good luck trying to train with the kiddos at home, I fully understand how hard it is to get a run in while being a momma

Shan - I am in awe that you ran on your vacation!!! WTG! I always plan on running ,but I never seem to get around to it, you are inspiring!

monte - pbbbbt on the PF, I hope that you get over that really fast. and Yeah for the volunteering, I bet it was a lot of fun

Jen - have fun on your trip, I would love the chance to spend a week with my mom, I would also love to learn how to quilt. Although I think DH would kill me if I picked up one more craft, so I guess I will stick with the knitting :)

Craig - I would gladly trade my quads for 2 weeks in Italy. I am sure it was as wonderful as I am imagining it was

Sir Bouncealot - Way to hang in there on the LR. You will love watching the Tri - it will inspire you to try a tri And don't put off training for one! Since you can ovbiously do an 8 mile run, you are in fine shape to start training for a Tri. A sprint distance tri is .6 mile swim, 14 mile bike, and 3 mile run. I am sure you could do it!

Erica - 20 miles for the week!!! WTG!!!

Vic - glad the shoes felt good, and really glad the foot felt good!

Bill - with a 18 month old, and 3 yo, I am convinced that there is no such thing as normal  Good luck on finding something to train for, I know that it matters!

Stephanie - Glad your LR went well

Good morning!:)

I haven't been around much since DH's cycling accident 4 weeks ago. (You may recall he was victim of a hit-n-run; 5 broken ribs and displaced fracture of the collarbone.)

Training has been sketchy. My plan calls for 4 walks per week, but 2 or 3 has been the most I could squeeze in.

The good news is that DH is mending really well and schedules are returning to normal. Yesterday I did a 10k LW in 1:17 (12:41 pace). I'm doing some jogging these days (downhills only) in hopes of finishing my first-ever full marathon under 6 hours.

Boy am I sore today (quads and hams). I don't know whether to blame it on my LW or the 3 hours of yardwork I did afterward. :confused3 Oh well, it kinda feels good...in a twisted sort of way.

Take care and have good week everyone. Now I'm off to catch-up on last week's thread.

Good morning WISH Team and fellow members of the court of "YARC".

I got my Pretty Princess up early for an LSD his morning before it gets to hot. We are planning for about 6 to 8 miles at marathon pace. She is doing better now all the sickness of early this year appears to be over.

Is anyone getting excited about the ToT? This will be an interesting race and a pretty big gathering of WISH. I think we will be having so much fun that we will probably get several new members.

Have a great day full of healthy choices.

Dave:hippie: "YARC"

Kelley, glad your DH is doing better. I was wondering how he was doing after the accident. :goodvibes

It's Monday! Time to get back to work. :surfweb: My first weekend of Goofy training went well. I did 30 minutes on Saturday and doubled it to 1 hour yesterday. Then, I swam with DDs for an hour in the pool. The heat and humidity are killer right now, but I keep telling myself that it is great training for the marathon. ;) Ahh yes, remembering the hot sun beating down on me as I made the long trek from AK to MGM in searing 80+ heat fondly.

Craig- Welcome home! I am so glad you had a wonderful vacation. We missed you!

Kelley- I am so glad that DH is doing better. :wizard: that he continues to heal quickly. Great job in getting in some workouts with DH and your mommy responsibilities.

Kathy- Way to go on your workout this weekend. I am so glad that your health issues are resolved. It is so wonderful that you bike alongside Lynne to keep her company on LRs. I know that she appreciates it. Now if you could just get her to stop signing up for back to back tris. :)

Dave & Erica- Good job on getting up early and walking this morning. :woohoo:

I can't wait to hear from our other WISH team members.

Morning team. Hope you all had a good weekend.

I did two miles today at an 11 min pace. Not where I'd like to be but I've got time. My calf muscles are not thanking me for doing two hills today.

Over the weekend I got new running shoes that I should have bought about three weeks ago. I got Nikes which I normally don't really love but these were just too comfortable. I was going between them and a pair of Mizunos. I also had the pleasure this weekend of ATTEMPTING to run with my sister. I say attempting because it took her a half an hour to get out of bed then another 15 minutes to get ready. Then we get to the pond we were running only to have her tell me she wants to walk only. I did get her to run a few intervals but they were very short and she complained a lot. This is probably the last time we attempt that unless she's willing to work harder, I just need more out of my runs. I just keep reminding myself that at least I got my steps in.

Think work would mind if I kicked my feet up and read? I'm in the mood to be enjoying a good book.

Wow you where all chatty yesterday.....I hope I don't miss anyone.

Dave Do you know if this is the only year for the ToT run????

Txbelle Congrats on week 1

Megan Congrats on the new shoes.

Whew....I hope I got everyone. DH and I had a great 8K walk yesterday, the first 4 where tough and I wanted to stop but the 2nd 4 K felt great. We even went out last night for a 2K stroll just cause the weather is so nice right now.

Morning folks. Yesterday I didn't attempt any XT since I had too much to do around the house. I was going to try and get my 5 miler in today since tomorrow I have a friend from university stopping through town. It looks like we have a chance of thundershowers this evening though, so I may just try to squeeze it in tomorrow anyway. I am sad to say that Beerfest on Saturday was a bit dissapointing. We had gone to the Food and Wine Festival here in the fall and loved it, then expected something similar with Beerfest. Unfortunately it felt like a bad college party...

tiberius - Good job on that 9.5 mile run. I know how hot and sticky it gets in Houston. Good for you for running through that!
Mel - Yay for your zen run!
Christa - You amaze me! Good for you for getting all that in this weekend.
Dave - Hope you are having a good time in Rio!
Kathy - Glad to hear that TNT is going well. I'm getting excited about SF in October..!!
Shan - WTG on getting those runs in aboard the ship! Glad to hear you had a great trip.
Monte - It is too bad you couldn't run, but it is great that you helped out though. Volunteering is a blast as well.
Craig and Martha - Good to hear you had a wonderful trip to Italy!
Andrew - Wow, a 5K followed by and 8 miler!
Vic - Yay for your happy foot venture on the TM!
Stephanie - Great pace with the humidity!
TriMom - Good luck with getting back into training mode.
Kelley - I'm glad to hear that DH is mending well. :wizard: for you both.
WWDave and Erica - Good luck on your 6-8 miles this morning.
Heather - Good job on your Goofy training! Will you be doing back to backs every weekend? I'm still tweaking my late summer/fall training schedule to prepare for Goofy.
Megan - Good job on getting the steps in, but sorry to hear about your sister. The first few runs are always tough, so hopefully she'll get through it. I'm with you on the book thing, but I don't think I can get away with it....currently working my way through the Harry Potter series again in anticipation of the movie and the final book coming out...
Kim - Great job on getting your 8K in and then the additional walk in last night too. Glad to hear the weather is holding up for you.

OK, back to work....

Lily – Thanks so much for keeping the calendar up to date. It is so nice to be able to see who’s out there competing on the weekends.

Coco – Great job on the 9.5 in the brutal conditions:cool1: !!

Mel – Not much compares to achieving running nirvana:cloud9: . Congrats on maintaining your CDC target pace:banana: .

Christa – You’re a maniac girl:crazy: !!

SWDave – Extremely gad to hear you’re working through things with DW. DH and I are doing another solo marathon trip this weekend and it they are so enjoyable. I hope your time in RIO is spectacular.

Kathy – Congrats on the successful week two training:cheer2: . Please tell Lynne that I plan on being in Lake Placid for her Ironman in July. It’s not that far from me to travel and we’d love to be her scream team.

Colleen
– Take care running in the heat .

Shan – Good girl for training while on the cruise and not gaining much weight. Congrats on the great run:woohoo: !!

Kristi – I hope you were able to get some exercise in yesterday.

Jen – Take care of the PF issues and don’t worry about the speed. Speed will come naturally with time.

Craig – It’s great you guys had such a wonderful time in Italy. Sorry your quads are upset with you right now.

Andrew – Glad you were able to beat your legs into submission:lmao: ! I also contemplate doing a tri someday…

Vic – Glad the new shoes are feeling fine.

Bill – Glad you guys are getting back to the routine. I hope the weather cooperates so you can get some training in this week.

Stephanie – Glad your LR went well despite the humidity.

Kelley – Great to see you again. Best wishes for DH’s continued recovery.

WWDave – I’m getting excited for Marine Corps Marathon that weekend:rolleyes1 . Is it wrong to opt for men in uniform:love: over the Mouse:confused3 ?

Heather – Great start on the Goofy training and with battling the heat & humidity:cool1: .

Megan
- Awesome time on the run.:woohoo: I hope the new shoes work out well.

Can you tell I'm experiencing taper madness by the length of my post?! It may rain and be hot on Saturday, so I don't know what to think right now. It is a point-to-point marathon and not very spectator friendly so I most likely will not see my DH until the finish. Also, no headphones on the course so we'll see how brutal that is.

I am hoping to post before I leave on Thursday night just for some inspiration.

Happy training to everyone this week:cheer2:  .

Greetings fellow WISHer and YARCers -

I'm very proud to say Charlie passed all his tests this weekend so he is now officially certified as a Rescue Diver! :thumbsup2 YAY! One step closer to his Dive Master certificate. :woohoo: I'm very proud of him. :goodvibes

I did 5 miles on the TM yesterday and 3 this morning. I don't know what's wrong with me but I have pain in more places than I can keep track of. :guilty: My left foot second toe hurts, and the arch really hurts. My right foot bunion is killing me, and I have an incredibly pain in my right hip, which sort of radiates down to my knee. I can't even sit flat on my right....cheek when I sit on the couch. It doesn't hurt when I'm training though. Only when I'm sitting or sometimes walking around.

I should just dig and hole and lay down in it. :sad2: Maybe I'm just not cut out for this exercising thing. I'm going to call the podiatrist today. As much as I don't want to do it, I think bunion surgery and orthodics is probably the way to go. Ugh,

Christa - "skirt dust" :lmao:

WWDave - Wasn't it also Lily Tomlin who said "It's going to get a lot worse before it gets worse." ;)

Kevin - They pulled the first three names this morning on the news. I made Charlie be quiet and I turned up the volume, but they did not pick your name. I don't know what I would have done it they did! :yay:

Mel - Wow, excellent Zen run! :woohoo:

Dave - I know your already gone but I just read your post from yesterday and YAY we're making progress! :goodvibes

Shan - Excellent! You're doing so well! :woohoo: Congratulations! And may I just, I think it's so cute that you put water in your mailbox. :cutie: That was brilliant!

Craig - Oh I'm glad you're back and I'm really glad you had a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back to Italy, sans the in-laws. ;)

Vic - Ohh I hope everything continues to be pain free for you. :wizard:

Kelley - I'm so glad DH is on the mend. Continued :wizard: for him though.

The heat and humidity are killer right now, but I keep telling myself that it is great training for the marathon. ;) Ahh yes, remembering the hot sun beating down on me as I made the long trek from AK to MGM in searing 80+ heat fondly.

WTG on getting everything in Heather! Just FYI...WDW marathon is not always HOT like that. I don't know if you have ran it b/4...if the pattern continues, it is only hot every other year....06 and 04 were cool/cold....07 and 05 were hot. But AK to MGM are always hard.;)

Craig and Martha - Glad you are back. Glad you had a great time.

Everyone is doing so great on their training! WTG team!

OK gotta go...so I know I missed many people, but time is an issue today.:sad2:

Good morning Wish team!!! Or I guess good afternoon! I just finished typing up my marathon schedule for Columbus. Call me crazy, but the training schedule didn't look that bad to me. I guess because I have done it once before. I decided to go with Hal Higdon's novice program, there are some weekly runs that get up to 10 miles, that's going to stink, but I guess I can just run them in the cardio theatre at the gym. Hopefully they are showing good movies those nights!

Today is my 1st run in a week and a half, I'm hoping for a pain free run! :wizard: I'm tired of knee pain and not knowing what to ignore and what could be something bigger. I went to the gym yesterday afternoon (after taking my nephew to see Pirates--I liked it much better the 2nd time, except for Jack and Davy Jones' locker, that part was still weird) and got a decent wo in. I did 15 minutes on the elliptical--1.5 miles and then 30 minutes on bike on the hill program and ended up doing 11 miles on the bike. After that, I lifted--leg press, leg curl, leg extension for my legs and then for my arms the chest press, rowing machine, and then the pectoral machine. I have kind of given up on arm curl and arm extension--I didn't feel like it was doing anything. Plus I have heard that the rowing machine is one of the best upper body wo's for runners.

Sara--I will be thinking about you this weekend!!! :wizard: Good luck!!! Oh, and I can't resist a man in uniform either!! ;)

Christa--Where do you get the energy!! Wow! And you have 2 little ones at home too. I hope I can be super woman you are once I have kids! I'm afraid I'll turn into one of those women who gain a gazillion lbs, lives in sweats and watches soap opera's 24/7!!!

Stephanie--I wear dress clothes 6 days a week and I STILL hate wearing them! And thanks for talking about work, that reminded me that I have to stop at the pharmacy on my way home or I won't be running the Columbus marathon after all. ;) ;) ;)

Leana--Sorry Beerfest was a bust!!

Judy--:wizard: for your feet, legs, knees, and while I'm at it your arms, stomach, ears, and hair!!! :wizard: :wizard: But let me say how impressed I am that you can train through the pain! I'm done at the first twinge and then I xt for at least a week.

Mel--Yay for your Zen run!! I'm glad you didn't have any side stitches, I get those every once in a while--they are not fun! Oh, and I drink Diet Coke before every run too. Shocking, huh?

Kathy--I think it is so awesome that you ride along with Lynne as she runs. I wish I had someone to train with like that. :wizard: for you as you train for Nike and :wizard: for Lynne for Lake Placid!

Jen--I hope you have a wonderful time with your Mom! Use these next few days to decompress and forget all about your aunt, your kid's school, and work.

Cam--How was the graduation?

Andrew--How many languages do you speak?? ;) Color me impressed! Oh, and I think TriMom wants you to do a tri someday! ;)

Bill--Sorry the thunderstorms are messing with your training!!!

Craig and Martha--Welcome back!!! It sounds like you had a wonderful time! I am so jealous!

Sky Walker Dave--Have a wonderful time in Rio! Stay safe!!!!!! I'm crossing my fingers that the marathon will work out for you and DW! :wizard:

Kelley--I'm so glad that your DH is doing better! I hate it that people are such jerks, it makes me scared to run on the road and it's one of reasons I only ride a stationary bike at the gym. Good luck with training for Goofy!

Vic--How are the shoes?? I love how you stuck it to that running store! I almost got new shoes this weekend, it was a brand new running store in our area and they only had one person helping people with the shoes, I didn't feel like waiting around. I'll probably get new ones this weekend.

Heather--I have it in my mind that the marathon is going to be super hot again! Great job on your 1st weekend of Goofy training! :cheer2:

I know I missed people, but it's almost my lunch and I have some things to do before I leave. Be back later!!

The good news is that DH is mending really well and schedules are returning to normal.

Glad to hear the Dh is doing good.

I got in 4.4 miles today, working on speed. I did 7 w3/r1 intervals, and then 3 w3/r 30 sec intervals, cuz I was worn out. It's going to take me a bit to get up to running that much! But I comforted myself in the fact that actually ran 9:30 total today! I would post my splits, but the look so funny, as on the way out, it's level/downhill, the way back is uphill! So my last 2 miles look crazy compared to my first speedy two! Oh well!

I'm looking for some new capris, anyboy have any that they love & would recommend?

Also, does anybody have the ultimate direction Matrix waist pack, or the Nathan Muse (made for women)? Do you like it?

We're baaaack! As you read from Calcio's post, we had a marvelous time. Good food, wonderful hotels and most of the time was great weather. Only 2 days did it rain but it wasn't cold and didn't prevent us from doing what we'd intended to do. I did get a horrific head cold on the last night in Italy, but at least it wasn't the first night.

As a result, I wasn't able to return to work outs until yesterday. I couldn't breathe very well and my ears were so plugged that it was affecting my equilibrium. Oh fun. But I did get in a 4 mile walk at 5% grade to train for the Leadville Heavy Half Marathon that is coming up.

Monte: we should connect before the Leadville race. I do hope your injury allows you to walk that one!

Judy: congrats to Charlie!! You should post of picture of him in his scuba attire.

aladdinsgirl: I hope the run is pain free!!

msblrobs: good luck on the race! You should be enjoying the taper!

poppinspal: of course you should read a book! Can you camouflage it to look like your computer?

Bill: how is everyone at your home? I bet that little boy has grown so much since I saw him at the Minnie!

TXBelle: oooo, I'm jealous of the pool! Congrats on starting the training on such a good note!

windwalker: I'm totally psyched about ToT! It's my next race at least that I know of right now. And since I've been out of it for about 3 weeks now, YARC?

KelNottAt: tell DH we are thinking of him and hoping he keeps getting better. I do remember your posts on it and how scary it sounded. I'm happy to hear things are returning to normal.

I know I've missed people but I do hope everyone is doing well! I hope to get in a 30 minute run today to get back in the swing of things. The congestion is such that it is resting on the nerves to my upper teeth so the littlest jar hurts. Even with decongestants! I may have to bike or do something else that doesn't jar so much.

Talk to you all soon!
