Wk of June 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

Well, I just sat and typed in a long post, responding to everybody but my connection bonked and I lost it and don't have time to retype. Dang! :badpc:

I did an easy XT day today; 40 minutes on the bike and lifting for my arms/core. Now all the kids are in the gym since they're out of school for the summer; makes it a bit more crowded.

Nepatsfan73 - our trick for drying soccer cleats more quickly is to stuff them with newspaper. May be worth a try on the running shoes as well.

Happy training, all!
Renee

I see that everyone is doing well. Sorry for my extended absence from the training threads, but times have been hectic lately.

Well, my best laid plans of several months ago had me running several 1/2M's in spring (done that) and then starting to prepare for my first full marathon in Octoberish (haven't done that), in preparation for the Goofy in January. Well... all of that has changed. I mentioned to seveal WISHers at the Flying Pig that DW and I might be moving to the Charlotte, NC area. Well, it's official. We've been working like dwarfs (not meant to be disparaging, just keeping to the Disney theme) to prepare our house for sale. We'll likely be moving in September or October, which could impact our October Disney trips. Anyway, it's kinda hard to focus on LR's when the whole relocation thing is taking off.

We're excited about moving south, but I'm dreading the whole deal of preparing the house, selling the house, moving thing. I wish someone could just put me out for 3 months, and when I wake up, I'd be in a new house in SC.

Yesterday, did 45 minute stretch class and 6 mile walk. Tonight is pump class and maybe I will do another 4 mile walk.

I got an email today from WDW about their packages for the marathon weekend. Really not a package other than they give you free minigolf. The rate is more than what I got for my 3 nights at POFQ by $13. I guess that is to cover the "free minigolf".

Erica and I did a nice 6 mile walk this morning. Yesterday she was walking like she was on a mission but today was truely an LSD day.

Have a wonderful and healthy day.

Kevin - Are you in???? Anyway, are you in???

Drumroll, please............................

Nope. :guilty:

Oh well, better luck next year, I guess. It's probably for the best.... between Waterfont, the Goofy and then maybe NYC it would have been like Sophie's Choice there for a while....

Kevin :earsboy:

On the plus (or minus) side, I have dropped just about 10lbs over the past 2+ weeks and am no longer a 400+ guy (at least not as of this morning's weigh in).

That is awesome!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!!

Sorry only time for a quick drive by, I hope to get online tonight and catch up but DD has soccer and I have a 4K to get in so not sure what is going to have to give.

Have a super day everyone.

Kim

Hello teammates. Nothing much to report from me--got in 3 miles yesterday and today is a rest day. But I did get my new skirt and shirt from Skirtsports. Love them!

DaveSW--boy you sure are living the rough life. Where can I get a job that will send me to Rio for a conference? But, unlike the men around here, I can live quite happily w/o a pic of the thongs!

Kevin--sorry you didn't get in. There's always next year!

DaveWW--great job on the LSD--glad to hear that Erica took it easy on you today!;)

Denny--good luck with the move. We were in that situation last summer. We found out Memorial day weekend that we were moving back here to AR and were relocated by mid-July. We had an 8 day trip planned to WDW last Sept. and cancelled b/c of the move. Hope everything goes smoothly with the house sell and buying process. Where exactly are you moving?

nepatsfan--great job on the weight loss!:woohoo:

Well, I should go kick up my feet and relax a spell since it's the golden hour around these parts! Will check in later!

Nuts. Not fair.

Hi all! I'm feeling a little grumpy today so I'm just checking in quickly. I haven't done my xt yet today and I might skip it. Without giving too much info today my stomach is doesn't want me to do anything but deal with it being upset. Not good.

But I"m trying to stay positive because I've dropped a shirt size and one notch on my belt, my pants are starting to feel a little lose. I'm definitely trimming up which is nice.

Hopefully tomorrow goes better.

Just a quick drive by to say that I finally ran today!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

It has been just over two weeks since my last run, and I was ready to get back out there today. My goal this summer is to work on not only my distance but to work on some speed. Today, I only did 2 miles, but I did a run 3/walk 1 workout. During the run 3 part, I really pushed myself and worked on some speed. I felt great and finished in just over 18 min. at 18:10...for a 9:05 pace! Not sure I could keep up that pace for too many more miles but it felt great to get some speed work in!

Ok, no time to catch up now...I will try to catch up with everyone a little later on!

We're going to the Charlotte, NC area, but we'd like to buy a house in the Rock Hill / Fort Mill area of SC.

I AM IN CHARLOTTE! My Production Company is in Fort Mill and thats a good choice b/c I think taxes are lower there! WOW! When are you moving?!?!!? Where will you be working?!?! I think you will really like this area! What a small world...see you guys already have a friend in the area! I can show you (in Charlotte, not Fort Mill) where to run and the mile markers and everything!:thumbsup2

Dave - love the pics!

Krista - WTG on the run!

Well, I went running yesterday at the track with the playground b/side it (so DDs could play while I ran...after 1 lap, the bottom dropped out of the sky..no worries though. DDs were under the slide having a great time and then would run into the rain. It was warm so I let them play while I ran...yeah, I am a GREAT mom. Well then I had done 1.6 miles and it started thundering so I had to leave!:sad1:
So 1.6 yesterday:laughing:
But today I did 10 in 1:26...I know that is under a 9mpm, but have not figured it up yet.:woohoo:

Real busy so sorry I have left people out.

I AM IN CHARLOTTE!

Christa, how cool is that!:goodvibes Thanks for the great reception. We're probably going to come down to get a feel for the neighborhoods in July, but based on some homework, I'm thinking perhaps Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Tega Cay, or around Lake Wylie area. I understand the taxes are lower there, and it's convenient to Charlotte and Charlotte airport, but the bottom line is that as soon as I saw that South Carolina had a palm tree on their state flag, I knew that's where I wanted to live.:rolleyes1 I'll be traveling a fair amount, but I will have a small office in SW Charlotte.

My plan is to move about September or October. Ideally, we would move after our kids leave for college (End of Aug), and well before our scheduled trip for MNSSHP (middle of Oct.). We only have to get our house ready to sell, list it, sell it, shop for another one, buy it, pack and move before then.

P.S. And we'll take you up on your offer to show us some local running paths. Thanks

Yeah! I did it! I finally got my first run in after two months of nothing (post-surgery). My plan just called for a 10min run today. I didn't have a timer handy so I just ran a mile (what my 10 mins used to equal). I felt good and didn't even stop to walk during that time. Hopefully I won't be too sore tomorrow:)

Hey team.

Just finished my 4K which is 2.49 miles. 37:40 did it on the TM, it is just to hot and humid here so instead of waiting till after DD's soccer game just went in the basement to visit my friend the TM. Plugged in a fan and went to it.

Does anyone else find there times slower on the TM?? Weird thing is I can jog on the TM but my time is slower then if I walk outside?? Oh well right now I am only concerned about getting in the milage not the times.

Hope everyone has a great training day today.

Kim

Am new to the "walking a marathon" thing but am excited to try it. I am an unusally slow "runner" with knee injuries, so it sounds just like the thing for me. Plan on following Jeff Galloway's plan b/c it looks like a manageable plan for my lifestyle. Decided to Google "Galloway Walking Marathon Forums" and read some real running elitists bashing the concept of walking ANY part of a marathon. Geesh - it kinda' burst my new-to-walking bubble. I clearly remember watching some fast walkers pass my slow running butt! What running snobs!

Yep there are plenty of those "elite, I'm better than you types". But they can just climb back on thier rats and ride on off to where they came from.

Walkers rock!!! I can't run because of an achillies injury, so I racewalk, if I were to lose my legs in an accident as soon as I got out of the hospital I'd be out shopping for a racing wheelchair. As the old saying goes, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight that counts but the size of the fight in the dog".

You do your walking Darlin and hold your head high.

I think I love you!

You are among friends here. We don't have anybody we are trying to impress except ourselves. We are all on a journey and if we can give each other a hand up every now and then, we are all stronger for it.
