Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from non-running beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

PSA for WISH Team members:

Please check "The Calendar" sticky thread to be certain your event is listed. If you would be so kind as to list your event on the calendar thread it will make it easier to keep our cheering going for our WISH Team. You know we are all about easy and WISH Team support!

(I think the calendar is up-to-date) Let me know.

I'll jump in early this time.

I did a 9 1/2 mile long run today, slow in killer humidity and early day warm temperatures here in the Houston area, but overall worked out pretty well.

I had a Zen Run today...everything came together for perfect running karma :cloud9: 6 miles in 1:11:02 for an 11:50 pace and it felt COMFORTABLE the whole time! I got up early to eat, changed to half a bagel with cream cheese (havent given up the diet Pepsi yet) and I had NO side stitch! I have been fighting that for 2 years on every LR and today there was nothing! :yay: The best part is I'm ahead of my 2:36 pace band for the CDC. :dance3:

Jen...sorry your run was a stonker. What intervals are you planning for CDC and/or the full? I'm still at R4/W1.

Terri...glad things seem to be healing well.

Vic...good luck with the new shoes and getting back into training!

Karen...nice power post!

Christa...novice???? :lmao: They obviously didn't know who they were dealing with!

marathonmommy...glad to have you on board for the full!

Dave...dude...you ain't right.

Stephanie...hope work went well.

Heather...wtg on starting the Goofy training!

Kevin...aren't you planning to be at CDC as well?

Speaking of, I may be bringing DD14. I found out there's a US women's soccer game on the same day as the race at Soldier Field. If I can workout the flight and tickets, she may come along, though she won't race.

Good training everyone!

Hey all! Have not read through the post because.....
Just back from the last show of the day, I haven't even taken off my makeup and eye lashes yet:goodvibes ...Yes we had 2 today, 1 yesterday...almost killed me! I also have 1 tomorrow. (Different show though)
Looking back..the biking 50 miles Friday and runinng 12 this morning (Saturday) b/4 a double show day(gettingup @ 0500 both days to do it) was not one of my brighter ideas..but it is done! And I am going to bed b/4 I have to put back on the stage make up and false eyelashes again...and all this with only around 6 hours of sleep tonight.

OOOHH my run today is why I am posting....
12 miles is all I could do...the heat and humidity were killer. Was planning on 14, but wimped out of 2 miles...:sad2:

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

No training to report since Wednesday's 8 mile run and Thursday's heated discussion with DW about marathoning. I was supposed to run Fri and have my usual Sat LR, but I just didn't feel like it and I didn't want to push the issue with DW after our big discussion and my heading out of town. Sat morning I got up a little later than my usual 5am, DW came down around 7am. She said, "you're not going for a run?" I said no, and she asked if it was because of our discussion. I said yeah, that was a big part of it. She replied, you know I really do want to support your running - I think it's not the running that bothers me and I'm glad we had our talk to figure out what the root of the issue was. Besides, if we had an adult weekend at Disney we could go to EPCoT :scared1: . Hey, so DW's starting to come around to the marathon. I may be in it yet!

I wanted to post before I leave on my trip. My flight leaves this afternoon for Rio de Janeiro. I plan on having lots of runs along Copacabana beach (where our meeting is) and Ipanema beach. I'll take pictures, and hopefully I can get online while I'm there too to check in with my teammates.

Have a good week everyone!

Good morning WISH Team and fellow "YARC" members.

It's another beautiful, though hot and humid day here in Southern Ky. Todays walk will probably be a moderate 3 miles without the hills.

I was talking with a patient yesterday who was wanting to start walking to get into better physical condition. I told her about the WISH Team and the wonderful outlook this group has on exercise and racing. She sounded excited about coming on here and finding support.

I thank my hero John (the penguin) Bingham, for letting the racing world know that we "Back of the Pack", runners and walkers are not the losers that the faster runners thought we were. We enjoy our races as much or more than the condenders. For slower runners and walkers, we are there for the memories and the journey, not to get it over as fast as we can and go home.

It's hot outside so remember to keep your water bottle close and drink all day to keep hydrated.

Have a strong day full of good choices.

Dave:hippie: "YARC"

Dave--have a fun and safe trip! And, woohoo, on DW coming around. Maybe she just needed some time to soak it all up--and I highly reccommend the adults only EPCOT day. DH and I did that after the Minnie and had the best time

Christa--Wimped out after 12 miles????? Um, how could anyone ever be called a wimp after 12 miles! And kudos to you for getting all the workouts in plus the shows! You go girl!

mel--Great job on the run--glad you got the good karma back!

Well, I'm headed out for my LR this morning. Need to leave in the next 15 minutes, to get out and back before the heat starts rising. work was crazy yesterday, nobody I was working with knew exactly what was going on. So I need to run off a little stress from yesterday--get my chi in the right place before heading in today!:)

Good morning everyone!

Mel - Great job with the 6 miler! Glad to hear you didn't have a side stitch.

Tiberius - WTG with the LR.

Christa - That's all you did this weekend? Hmmmmph! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Dave - Have a great trip, and be safe. Glad to hear you and your DW are working things out.

WWDave - W'sup?

Stephanie - Have a great LR.

Big Vic, did I hear that you were retired from the USAF also?

Dave:hippie: "YARC"

Affirmative.

24 years, 8 months and 5 days. Retired out of HQ AFSOC in 1998.

You?

:)

Good morning team. Sorry I have not caught up on the the posts.

I did my spring cleaning yesterday and Friday, windows, baseboards, ceiling fans, you name it it was done yesterday. I hope that counts as cross training cause by the time I was finished between Friday and yesterday I didn't do anything else.

Plan calls for 7 K today, so DH and I will be heading out soon.

Hope you all have great LR/LW today.

Good morning all.

Erin & I sucessfully completed week 2 of the TNT training schedule for Nike in October. I wimped out and only did 2 miles on one of my three mile days but still got in 14 miles for the week. Still trying to get some speed back into my walks.

Yesterday was the first group TNT day. Since it was supposed to be a rest day for Lynne, she walked the 6 miles with me and the other 2 walkers. Our mentor, who did the full last year, is 69. She had her knee injected on Friday and did the whole 6 miles Sat. She said it was her first training for the Oct marathon. There are only 3 walkers, including myself, so we should get to know each other very well.

Today is a XT day so I thought I would mow the lawn and ride along with Lynne while she does her 2 hour run. It gives her someone to carry her fluids and to talk to. Not sure where she is going to run yet as she is out on her 5 hour bike.

Need to get started on the mowing. Will check back later to see how everyone is doing.

Kathy, congrats on finishing week#2. Say hi to Lynne for us! Will she have a break between the bike and the 2 hour run? I am interested in how she fuels during these training days.

MSDave, I have a feeling all will work out. :) I sent you a PM!

I ran once last week and will try and run 6 miles today since my half marathon last week. Kids are out of school now, so training will be sporadic over the next two months. We have been well into the 90's the last few days, it will be a long summer of running in the heat.

Have a great day!

I'm back! Hope everyone has been well. :goodvibes

I'm now in week 10 of my 13 week program. :yay:

I stuck with it on the cruise and ran twice. (I had been worried I'd get sea sick, but no problems!) I started off our vacation watching what I ate, but that quickly ended. :rolleyes1

First run on the boat I did my fastest mile to date - 11:02. Second run I was already becoming lethargic from all the food and didn't do as well. By the time we got to the Poly and I ran my third session of the week I was in slow mo for sure. It was painful, but I did it. I ran all around the Poly, up near the wedding pavilion (Sorry to that couple getting married!) and over to the GF and back.

Last week I struggled with my runs, but the good news is I waited a few days to get on the scale figuring I had alot of water weight and I only gained one pound! Not bad considering I gain weight very easy and I ate a Mickey bar about everyday. :sad2:

This morning I ran my longest run since starting the program - 5.15 miles with a pace of 12:18. It actually felt great and I know I could have gone on another mile. RFTT is not seeming so daunting now. I'm also at a point in my program where I've almost completely phased out the walking breaks. I can't believe I'm running now! I ran 30 minutes straight, walked around my cul-de-sac and drank water that I put in my mailbox for a minute and then ran another 30.

Anyway, I'm back and it was a great trip. The weather was beautiful on the cruise and the Poly gave us a FANTASTIC view for DH's birthday. :thumbsup2

Dave - I am so happy that DW & you have seemed to turn a corner in this marathoning thing. :yay: Adults only trips are alot of fun - we did that for the '05 WDW race. And we are probably doing that this coming year also, since we are doing a week in October before ToT. Have a safe trip to Brazil and we want to see lots of pics when you return!

I was a slug yesterday. Slept until noon. :cloud9: Procrastinated getting ready. :rolleyes1 Did a few errands. Then helped Chad host his 'last hurrah' poker game at my parents' new house (they have more room). So, instead of putting Zack to sleep and then doing an exercise DVD - I sat on my butt watching concert DVDs. :sad2: And really, I didn't help much with the get-together since I don't play poker and have zero interest in it.

Today is a new day!!!
I will get something done exercise-wise if it kills me! ;)

:goodvibes Good Sunday Morning TEAM!

Tiberius - Congratulations on your 9.5 miles:cool1:
Mel - Glad to you had everything fall into place for your run...love those days!
Christa - What was your role in the show?
Dave - Have a safe trip and I'm glad to hear that your wife is coming around:rotfl:
Stephanie - Hope work goes better on Monday
Kathy - Do you go to TNT meetings/trainings?
Shan - Which cruise lines did you cruise with?

Since I couldn't participate in the Run the Rockies half marathon yesterday, because of PF, I worked one of the aid stations. It was alot of fun to be on the other side cheering for the runners.

Hey all.... no training for today, tho I should get some gardening in before our picnic at 5:00. It is HOT here today. Our weather is so sporadic that I can't get used to the sudden heat. I am just glad I am not running today.

I forgot that I leave town on Tuesday for a mom and me trip through Saturday. Not cool that I forgot because now I have to pack and buy supplies. We go a quilting convention and take 4 days of classes. She looks forward to this every year and I am her chauffeur. I like taking the classes too.

Mel - Well... I did switch to 4/1, however you are soooo much more speedy that my right now. Maybe I am not pushing myself like I should? Not sure, but the PF problem seems to have really set me back. I am hoping for a 2:45 at CDC. For the WDW Full... not sure how I will get through it, but all I want to do is finish. I will attempt the 4/1 also. The heat really sets off my asthma, so I am not sure how much that will slow me down. My running paces are decent, but my walking is slow. I need to speed that up.

Sky Dave - COOOOOOOL on DW. Glad she is figuring things out for herself. The new school said that DD taking time off is OK as long as I work with the teacher, so looks like that was my last hurdle... oh beside getting the money!

OK, I've gotta boogy. We have a family picnic at 5:00 and of course DH is no help with his current knee situation.

monte, we did the four night Disney Wonder. I ran on deck four instead of on the treadmill. It wasn't bad.
