Wk of June 1 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Kristi - Woo hoo for teh unplanned trip! And get your sleep young lady!

Angie - Glad you arw doing so much better. Please take it weasy, though.

Howard - WOo hoo for being done!

Liz - Glad you are doing better. :wizard:

Shannon - Welcoem to WISH Team! Can't wait to hear more about your training!

Rozzie - Higdon's plans scare me. If your plan seems too intense, I'm sure you can find soemthingn a little easier that will do teh trick.

Jen - Your dd's are adorable!!!

Tracy - Yay! Isn't that a great feeling when 6 miles doesn't seem that long???

WHere are Amy and Scott??

OK, here's my big news. Sunday, Scott adn I ran 10 miles. News, you say? Yes. WHile my pace was lack luster adn I didn't love teh run, I came to a realization. This was teh firs time we had ever done 10 miles when we weren't training fro anything. We don't have any plan sfromore than a 10K until fall, but we ran 10 miles. I am very proud of us. We are really sticking with our self-imposed training plan of LRs of 5-8-5-10. Just kind of in awe. WHile we've done trainin gruns of up to 20, 10 miles just 'cause seems like a milestone to me!

*SOrry, I missed a lot,a s usual. So hard to catch up.

Shannon Welcome! I can honestly say that in the five months I have been on this board I have met some great people, both virtually and in person at the Minnie weekend this past May. We will give you all the encouragement you want/need and will listen to all of your ups and downs along the way to becoming an athlete. Only down side--you have to listen to us, too!

Angie Fingers crossed on your run. I have high hopes that it will go well and you will feel great.

Carrie (and Scott, too!) WTG on your long runs. It seems to me the hardest part of training/running is not the event training, it's the down time in-between (at least it is for us goal-oriented people). So extra kudos for doing those long runs.

Kristi Pretend your at the Great Movie Ride in the Wizard of Oz scene and the Wicked Witch is saying "poppies, poppies--sleeeeepp, sleeeeepppppp! (Seriously, I hoope you get the rest you need.)

Back to work for me--I'm actually home waiting for the cable guy to come and filling out my son's application for his Level 2 driving class-oh, lord--he's eligible for his license. Watch out! (Actually, he's a natural driver)

Maura

Hi All,

I'm going to jump in and reintroduce myself since I haven't posted on the weekly thread in quite some time. I'm a member of the wonderul Team 'Ohana and I've been trying to read and post on that thread, but sometimes it's hard to find the time to do more than that. I'm hopeful that I'll have more time for reading and posting here in the future so I can get to know all of you better! :goodvibes

My name is Julie and I'm a new runner. I've been running since January and plan to run the WDW Marathon in 2009. :scared1: I'm definitely a bit anxious about running a marathon. There are days where I feel so confident that I will be able to do it, and there are other days where I really wonder what I was thinking when I signed up. :confused3

Everyone here is so friendly and supportive. I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better and hopefully meeting many of you in January.

Welcome (back) Julie!

I just joined last week and here I am already behind in posting for this week.

I've stuck to my workouts and every other day runs and tried adding some distance, which seemed to go OK yesterday. Phew!

The total bummer was that I realized I did not reach what I thought would be an easy goal for me to reach with my new nike+. Oh well, I set a new one and now I am more than determined to reach that!

Here's to a rest of the week that goes quickly!

I'm here! :yay:

The Macbook Pro is back. Nothing could be saved--I lost the entire hard drive. By strange coincidence, DH's macbook locked up the same day mine did. I thought I could fix it--it seemed like a user logon problem. It was, but it was a filevault user logon problem. Because the filevault logon was corrupted, he lost all his date. Included the photos that were backed up on his computer. I'm sick over the whole thing....

Anyway, I had my college reunion this weekend. There was much celebrating, especially because DH could go this time (a Persian Gulf thing detoured him last time). ::cop:

I have been such a slug since my 5k-5k weekend two weeks ago. I need to finish grading papers because the school year is almost over. :cool1:

I'll be back more to respond to everyone and catch up tomorrow (or Thursday).

I miss my WISH buddies! And I can't believe you missed me! Thanks!

Hope you are feeling better, Liz! Hi, Tracy!

Welcome Julie and Jen :welcome:

I'm headed out for a 8 miler this afternoon in the heat. Uuuuughhh. Might be another ice cream day at the end of the run! :rotfl:

Shannon: Welcome. Great weight lose!! Keep up the good work and keep us informed of the running/walking progress. Are you thinking about possibly doing a 5k sometime.

Angie: Congrats on the no pain and no twinges, Yeah!

Liz: I would say (about what time to get out and walk in the mornings) depends on how far you want to go and how long it takes you to do that. I would want to be back sometime between 7:30am and 8am. That also gives you time to shower and be ready to go to a park or other activities.

Carrie: Great for you and the DH on the 10 miles - that is a great plan you have.

Where are AmyBeth and Scott?? I can't read his blog. Maybe they are in Vegas??

As for me I did a slow 3 miles tonight. FOr some reason when I got to the park my get up and go got up and went. I got out there but it wasn't all that pretty.

Have a good evening.

Just posting my miles for today 3.52 in about 37 minutes. I got up before work and got them in. I think I will get used to doing the shorter runs before work and the longer ones after.

I think I am on tap for 5 tomorrow after work. Hoo Ray!

Howard

I'm back! Internet at the new digs was hooked up today, and I'm still buried under boxes and boxes of books and assorted Disney memorabilia (including bling! :goodvibes) I still need to clean the old place and squeeze in work, workouts, and cat cuddling in here somewhere. Not to mention the odd WISH post. But this one really is mostly all about me, just letting you know I've returned to the land of the living.

But wow, looks like I have a lot to catch up on this week and from last. Yay for Lily for proving the "Where are they now" information! :yay: I need to reread all the updated soccer news from Craig (great details and pictures, Craig!) and Frank. I have WISH meet plans to make, thanks to Mel's update. Btw, Scott, what about the drinking scavenger hunt? I bet you that Bill could be enlisted in the shenanigans, seeing as he's an instigator and all. (Bill, you should have come help me move. I have a lot of toys for a 40 yr. old woman. No cars, though, which is an oversight I should correct. Maybe Vic could help me out? :confused3 )

:thumbsup2 to Cam for her beautiful and profound post last week. You are runner, my dear, AND an inspiration!

Thanks to those of you, like Frank and Lily, who read the lengthy Blisterville RR from the Cleveland 1/2 (I really did enjoy the city and the course). A shout-out to Aloha Jeff for the Chi Running DVD and the hidden Mickey sighting. It sounds like there are ice-cream tales to exhange, regardless of whether they are moving related. Anyone else like Moose Tracks? (I do likes the cookies and cream and drooled a little over the caramelized chocolate nibs. Mmmm, nibs.)

Lots of training, walking, and running WTGs to send, whether it's Jackie's WISH-voice inspired runs, complete with core work; Ang's great-feeling run and good stretches; Vic squeezing in WOs; Frank's runs and this weekend's 5K; Aloha Jeff's clinic milage; Claire's plans for Goofy and overall active lifestyle; Christa's phenomenal milage; Allyson's progress with her C25K plans and upcoming 5K; Tracy's LW in a hot, hot, summer and doing them whether they're pretty or not; Leana's first duathon; Judy's back on the 5-day a week MfM plan; Robyn's C25K and future ToT training plan (Higdon's?); Marcia's short bike ride from San Fran to LA (thanks Jeff); Carrie's (and Scott's) non-training plan 10 miles--just for fun, not matter what Carrie says about it--and sticking to the plan (wise words to live by); Raangoli's adding mileage; and Howard's return to regular running and training!

Hugs to those who need it: Amy's looking for the running love experiments; Stacie and Vic's WTO moments; Monte, for her high-blood pressure and thyroid; Liz, who's on the road to recovery; Ms. Duckie and her dearly departed Macbook (RIP); PD to Judy's iPod, even though we know Cary Grant is better anyway; continued good thoughts to Angie, not just for physical improvement but the fortitude NOT to run! :rotfl2:

:woohoo: and congrats for to everyone who have fun plans: Amy's Pilates classes, because for her they're fun; Tracy's future rendezvous with her Garmi II; Claire's end-of-short classes; Liz's WDW trip, Maura's gin and tonic days (I had one last night myself); Kristi's trip to celebrate her GP's 60th anniversary, Morgan's out-of-town wedding and upcoming WDW trip; Jen's DDs' dance recital with the precious pics; and remember--EVERYONE SHOULD COME TO THE DARK SIDE...BWA HA HA HA.

And a big boo for missing our absent friends: Amy, who I've seen sporadically this weekend, and Scott, who seems so secretive now that I can't read his blog. :( (Scott, I do like you as an international man of mystery, but still I miss the fun reads.)

P.S. This post wouldn't be complete without a WELCOME to Shannon! :dance3:

And of course I know Julie already, from Ohana, but WELCOME here. Everyone, ask Julie about her love for ToT. :rotfl2:

As for me: I'll catch up with you over the next few days. But it's really good to be able to come back home to my virtual home while I settle into my new brick-and-mortar one. :cloud9:

Hey team WISHERS,

Good going to all those who got out there and got in their workouts. Stonkers workouts still count as workouts.

That being said, I did 8 miles in 1 hour 20 minutes. My running Guru had me flying at a 8:45 pace, but with two water stops we averaged 10 minute miles.

I was fuel deficient on the run, having only had a healthy chicken salad at lunch. A powerbar before starting the run chased by Gatorade, and a gel at the 3.5 mile mark helped only a little. Running on fumes!

I got home and devoured a bowl of Portuguese Bean Soup from Zippy's restaurant, and chased it with mint chip ice cream. Fuel for tomorrow's bike ride to/from work. :cool1:

Gas hit $4.00 here at our COSTCO, so it's time for me to go from four wheels to two, on days I don't need the car at work.

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Jeef - That pace in teh heat? (Nind you, above 60 is hot for me). WTG!

Debra - SO good to see you! Glad you are back in our world. Hope your brick and mortar world is settled soon!

Julie - Good to see you! Keep following your plan and you WILL make it. Dh and I went from couch to full in about 10 months. You can do this!

Tracy - WTG on doing your run without your get-up-and-go. I think it's easy to run when it feels good, but a big victory when you don't want to be out there.

Howard - Good to see you back here regularly adn training!

Duckie - Oh, my heart is sick for you.

Maura - Hoep teh cable guy actually came! Oh my, even if he's a good driver, this must be worrisome. :wizard:

raangoli and all newer team memebers - When you are just starting out here, I recommend reading what is responding to you and posting what you are doing. If you have more time, read the rest. If you still have time, repspond to others. For now, though, just letting us know how you are doing and letting us know if you have problems or questions will be the best help to you! We will glean from your excitement as you reach new goals. Don't worry abotu keeping up with everyone.

As for me, can car shopping count as XT? EVen with internet searches and e-maling dealers, it seems like it still takes up a ton of time. Ugh. Tomorrow, we will have been renting fro a week. Must get new vehicle soon. :(

Wow, quiet week. Has everyone gone on summer vacation already?

Allyson – Hey there! How are you doing? Best of luck on your first 5K – I know you’ll do great!

Christa – Whoa, check out those miles! WTG!! Good luck to your DD as she starts C25K. That’s SO cool that she’s wanting to run with you!

Tracy – Great job in getting your LW in with that miserable heat. Ice cream is the perfect way to celebrate that!

Stacie – Hi! Crazy job, expecting you to work instead of Dis. Don’t they know there are better things? :)

Lily – Oh, a bike trip with DH sounds fun (except for the uphill both ways part).

Terri – Yay for a relaxing WDW trip!

Maura – I hope you’re able to get your knee all fixed up. Do tell us what the doc says! :wizard:

Kristi – Get some GOOD rest while you’re in Florida!

Monte – So sorry about the thyroid and blood pressure news!

Morgan – I know, everyone should agree that Donald is #1. Have fun at WDW!

Leana – Congrats again on your du. I think it would be awesome for you to do a tri next year!

Judy – “Jabba the Hut training plan” made me laugh. What a coincidence – I also sent my Ipod flying across the room the other day. Same way as you!

Jen – Awww, your girls are too adorable!

Liz – I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better. Have fun at WDW!

Shannon – Welcome!! Congrats on the great weight loss and for keeping it off.

Angie – I’m so glad that you’re pain-free! Hope your TM run goes well today – just please don’t overdo it!!

Carrie – Great job on the 10-miler! That’s great news! Good luck with your car shopping. That’s totally XT in my book.

Julie – Good to see you again!

Raangoli – WTG on sticking with your workouts!

Duckie – I’m so sorry that both of the computers crashed! And no data recovery? That's terrible. :(

Debra – Yay! You’re back! Glad you’re getting settled in.

Krista - How are you and Carter feeling?

Scott and Amy - Where are you two? We miss you!

GOOD MORNING TEAM!!

Kristi  take care of yourself and get some rest!!!! Have a great vacation!!
Vic I love that "good" hurt, my whole body had that yesterday, it's awesome. BOXING huh?
Carrie That is an AWESOME milestone, that is exactly the plan DH is doing right now. It's hard to get out there for that when the next race is so far away. Good luck with the car.
Maura DRIVING!! :scared: My son is about to finish 6th grade and that kind of stuff becomes more of a reality every day!!
Julie :welcome: AGAIN!!! I agree with what Carrie said, just jump on let us know how you are doing!!!
raangoli I hope you find a goal that works for you, one that helps you push yourself but doesn't leave you feeling discouraged.
Ms.Duck Sounds like a computer night mare.!! Yeah for school almost being done!! Sounds like you had a good time at reunion.
Tracy Could be the mad heat that just sucked the life out of you, good job getting it done anyway. :yay:
Howard I never said :congratulations: GRADUATE!!!!! Good job on the run.
Debra Good to see you, hope you quickly get settled!!!
Jeff Glad you made it trhough the run safely, gas down by Siesta Beach here has reached 4.05, luckily I work in Tampa where I can still get it for 3.83!!!

Did 30 minutes of Yoga last night which felt amazing since every muscle in my body hurt (that "good" hurt) and I am happy to report still no pain in the knee even after Monday night, so I am ready to jump on that treadmill tonight armed with my IT strap!!!

Morning team!

I got in a nice 3.5 mi run between home and boot camp last night, then we did plyometrics and abs in class. It started raining during the abs though....brrr! This morning the weather perked up for a great ride in to work.

It looks like the du this past weekend will have to be the only one for me for awhile. Tris are pretty popular around here, dus apparently not so much. The few I've found conflict with some other races I already have planned. Looks like I'll have to start working on my swimming over the winter so that I can enter a couple of tris next year!

Carrie - Congrats on running 10 miles, just cuz! Wow!

Debra - Glad to hear the move went alright. Good to see you back here!

AlohaJeff - Sounds like a pretty speedy run even though you were only running on fumes! :moped: Good luck biking to work!

Tracy - Sorry to hear you lost your get up and go! That happens to all of us though.

Duckie - Oh no!!! So sorry nothing could be saved! Glad to see you back here though.

Kristi - Chronic sleep deprivation? Get some rest. I hope your trip goes well!

Ang - :wave2:

Angie - Good for you taking 2 weeks off! I hope that will help to resolve your IT issues. Just remember to take it slow coming back!

Scott????? Amy???? I hope everything is okay with you guys!

Sorry missed logging in last week!! ::cop: Work...should say it all...

Am getting ready for a 5k on Sunday morning and have signed up for another on 8/2/08. Am looking for one locally for July so I will have participated in some sort of a "race" each month since May thru the Akron RoadRunner in September.

I'm participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run on the 14th and am the "torch bearer" for my family reunion on Sunday...our theme this year is the Olympics...lol!!

Think my shoes will be getting a bit of workout this month!

Wog on!! Paula

Hello WISH Team!

My name is Scott and I'm interested in joining your wonderful & inspiring group of folks...I've signed up for the Goofy in January and can't wait to join in on the fun!!

Ok...all kidding aside.....

Thank you to those who were concerned about my whereabouts. I appreciate it! The short story is that LTO for a bit and I just didn't make it on here too frequently...seems that every time I started to read posts, something else came up and I never got back around to it...(sounds good anyway :rotfl: )

So, I'm sorry that I don't have any shout outs but I'll continuously catch up thru the duration of the week :goodvibes:

Scott's World - I have to admit that Goofy, a Half in the fall, the Peachtree, running, working out have all taken a back seat to planning this upcoming excursion to Vegas. Details for that can be found in the blog later tonight (YES it's functional again!!). As far as the exercise front, although it's not the forefront of my thoughts right now doesn't mean I've stopped....I took a rest yesterday after completing 7 consecutive days of running/elliptical/biking...and today I'm waiting for it to cool down a bit (yep, still in the upper 80s at 8:00!) before heading out there for a 6 or so mile run.

I hope all is well with everyone...thanks again for the e-mails, PMs and shout outs...you guys are all great!!

Have a good evening :goodvibes:

Amy - Where have you been?? ;) Good job with your workouts so far this week, keep up the great work :)

Carrie, Ang, Angie - thanks for the words of encouragement! Reading all the other accomplishments and goals on here is pretty inspiring. I'm glad I was able to jump in and join the group.

As for the workouts, they continue. Some running and some cross training was this morning's agenda. Then this evening was my adult beginner swim class. Yeah, I never learned how to swim, so that's another goal I am hoping to accomplish this year

Hopefully as time progresses, I'll improve on my running and my posting :)

My "training" tonight:

Miles: 5
Time: 53:13
Pace: 10:38

GO PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!!!!!!

I've got a Beaches and Cream Sundae riding on the outcome of this Stanley Cup Final Series. ;)

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Did not get in a workout last night (unless scraping paint off the outside of my house counts :) ) so I knew I HAD to fit it in today. My biggest problem staying motivated is that I usually end up working out at about 9 or 9:30 at night, after my kids are in bed (single mom to two young uns). After a long day at work and then an evening with the kids, it's easy to let it slide... BUT, I didn't, as tempting as it was. Instead I put on the running shoes and hit the treadmill. 3 miles in 42 minutes - slow, but it's a start.

Of course, now it's 10:30 and I'm wide awake...

Half way to LA. Only 275 more miles to go! -Marcia- (Mooshu)
