Wk of June 1 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Good Afternoon everyone!

Jen - your girls are adorable!

Tracey - that's cool with the Mickey on the Donald. Will have to get me one of those next Jan. ;) Oh and yeah, do wonder when the mileage thing happens. I'm doing the Chicago 1/2 because it's only 4 more miles than the Minnie.

Monica - I was diagnosed last year with borderline high blood pressure. Since starting all the walking they've downed my doseage of meds and am on my way to getting off them.

Lily - hate when a route is uphill both ways! Hope that works out for you.

Leanna - congrats on your first duathlon! I've got my first one in July (well actually first one is this month but DH and I are teaming it).

Duckie - That computer of yours still down? Steal Noah's. ::cop:

As for me, we're also heading to WDW Friday however it's just a weekend trip. Taking DS and two of his friends for Star Wars weekend. Should be fun.

Thanks so much for all the well WISHes!! I am feeling SO much better. Did a little light gardening over the weekend, ran errands by myself and am walking around like a human again! I know not to over do it too soon but feels great to be up and around.

Have a great day everyone!

Jen - the girls are so stinkin' cute!

Now all this WDW talk is making me want to sneak in a trip to either MGM (I am resisting the new name) or MK on Saturday. Zack is very into Indiana Jones right now, so seeing that at MGM would be cool. And there's the new Toy Story ride. Not so cool that it will be absolute mayhem with Star Wars weekend. There is always MK. Then again, there is also a great deal of $$$ involved in buying tickets to get an unplanned Disney fix in. Maybe we can make do with DTD or the Boardwalk Saturday night? I must stay off the DIS so I do not give in to the dark side... :darth:

I have a favor to ask.

When I get done with the C25K I need a new "regimented" program to help train me for the ToT 13K. All I can find of course is 8K, 10K, and 15K training plans. Any advice on which one to pick? I plan on just doing this for fun, and hoping not to kill my knee in the process. So any advice you can give would be great!!!!! :)

Rozzie - I would probably use the 15K training program, but make your last long run 8 mi, then a shorter run, mayb 4 mi, the week before the race. I'm guessing you probably found Hal Higdon's 15K plan?

Yep, that was the one's I was looking at. Thanks for your help. :)

Come on down, it is so nice here. You know you want to come. :rolleyes1 As people have told me recently, your kids are only young once so take advantage of them as much as possible. A nice weekend with the family to see Indy and MK would give lots of memories. ;) :lmao:

Lily: Bike ride and was uphill both ways?? - I hate it when that happens. :rotfl:

Terri: Jealous of your WDW updoming trip.

Maura: Yummy sounding home made icecream. I hope the ortho apointment goes well for you and you can get out there soon to run!!

Kristi: Hey, Sea World is nice too seeing as how there will be no WDW. I would suggest morning runs in FL - the hottest time here is around 2-4pm right now.

Monte: Sorry to hear about the HBP and thyroid issue. Hang in there and let us know how its going.

Judy: :rotfl2: I'm on the floor dyeing laughing right now with your story about the "flying Ipod". OMG, I had that happen one time when I first started walking. I was outside walking and my arm hit the wire and the earphones came popping out of my ears and it detached from the player, so the earbuds went flying about 5feet behind me. hehe. I lookd around to see if anybody in the cars going by saw me and I just had to laugh about the whole thing.

Jen: Your girls are precious!!

Liz: Glad to hear you are more vertical than horizontal. Not sure if Donald will have a mickey head on it this next time, I heard they were redesigning it to be more like the goofy medal. ooooooo, star wars weekend - be ready for some crowds and don't let people bump into you too much.

Duckie: I agree with Liz, steal Noah's computer or someone elses computer.

Today was a rest day for me. I have my Aunt and Cousin in town from CA. So it's been a nice weekend. I have 3 miles tomorrow.

Check out my running mate Marcia's current adventure. It's a 595 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Day 1 and Day 2 completed on Sunday and Monday. Day 3 up on Wednesday.

Way to go Marcia, you rock girl! :thumbsup2:cool1::worship::banana::woohoo::yay:

Ok, Bill - you are on the evil instigator list too! :rotfl:

Nope, just on the list to help the local economy so I don't have to do it all by myself. Although I don't think Lynnda and the kids would object too much if we just lived at Disney. :rotfl2:

Bill

Morning!

Kristi - we're just evil light.

Tracy - yeah we've been there before. My plan is actually to head over there first thing Sat with the kids, check out couple things quickly then leave them to do what they want (they're 19) and head to Epcot. How early am I going to need to get out to walk w/o monster heat?

Maura - hope the appt goes well and you can get back out soon.

Got out for a walk last night - 1.6 miles in 26 min. Not stellar but did not want to push it first time back out. Felt good just a little sore at the impact point when done. Iced and was all good.

Have a 2 hr meeting with the tax dept.....going to need lots of coffee....

Have a great day!

I'm new to the WISH board - can I join in with you guys? After successfully losing about 50 lbs a couple of years ago (and mostly keeping it off) I've been trying to get into better shape. I recently registered for the Princess 1/2 Marathon, so that I have a goal to work towards, and I'm definitely going to need some encouragement to keep me going!!

So far I'm starting out with a run/walk combination - if that goes well I'll step it up from there. Last night I did 40 minutes on the TM - 5 minute warm up, 30 minutes run/walk, 5 minute cool down. I'm pretty slow - in that 40 minutes I only did about 2.8 miles.

GOOD AFTERNOON TEAM!!!

I sure have missed you guys. This is my attempt to catch up from last page of last week to current: (sorry - truly am for anyone I missed)

Amy - How are you feeling and how is the morning running going?
Claire - AWESOME for class being done and great job on the runs!:thumbsup2
Cam - YOU ROCK!!!!!! YOU ARE A RUNNER!!!!:cool1:
Mel - The bright futures for in state is a very good deal. My mom is already "gently reminding" my 6th grader of that opportunity when he gets that far!!
TxAng - Congrats onthe 2.4 that's awesome.
Vic - HI!!! Glad you got some runs in.
Allyson - :pixiedust: for your 5K You can do it!!! We believe in you.
Christa - Awesome for you on hitting your goals, and that is so cute about DD!!! I love that we can teach our kids healthy life long habits.!!
Jeff - Thanks for reminder about heat, it's getting bad here too!!
Tracy - Cool discovery about the Mickey head. Our first summer that we trained in the FL heat we did some of our runs at 10 pm. I would not do that by myself but the heat gets brutal. :furious: I hope you enjoyed your ice cream!!
Stacie - I totally understand that's why I have not been around. Good to see you!!
Lily - WOW up hill both ways?! Good for you!!
Terri - Good to see you sounds like a good trip.
Maura - Th ice cream sounds amazing, as well as the drink!! Hope you got into the doctor. I hear you on the missing running thing, and never thinking you would say that.
Kristi - Your trip sounds fun. Believe me I understand your desire to visit a park and your struggle with the money issue. I can say Sea world is really cool now, totally different then back then and you will have a lot of fun.
Monte - Take care of yourself
Morgan - Have a great trip!!
Leana - Congrats on the duatholon!!! Very cool. :yay:
Judy- You are so funny, I am just picturing your ipod flying across the room :rotfl:
Jen - Makes me want a girl!! They are perfect.:lovestruc
Liz - have fun at Star wars weekends, it's my kid's favorite!! Hope your meeting went ok and glad you got out for your walk.
Bill - I too had a dream of living at Disney :cloud9: but as my kids grow older they don't think it sounds like as much fun anymore!!
Shannon - :welcome: You have come to the right place for motivation and encouragement, as well as a few laughs!! We are so glad you are here.

OK so as for me, lots of Yoga, Core and Pilates going on. Wednesday will be 2 weeks and I have not run. I did cheat a little last night and did a cardio class at the gym, not as bad as a run but probably not that great, but I had to do something I was going to explode!!!
I am happy to report finally pain free!!! Little twinges here and there but there is significant :dance3: improvement. Ready to jump on the treadmill Wednesday and see how it goes. Gotta get back to work!!

Ok, I am truly trying to go over to the dark side...I am trying to get media passes at Universal! :rotfl:
(a.k.a. free)

I think I am going to lay off training through the trip. I just got back from the doctor and the consensus seems to be that of all my health issues are stemming from chronic sleep deprivation. I have to start making taking care of me a priority. So, I will do lots of resting in Florida. Then when I come back, I am going to train for my 5k on July 5th. I have my workout calendar all set for Monday!

Have a great week / weekend, guys! :moped:

Good afternoon WISHers!

Hoping your Tuesday is going well.

Bodyweight exercises and boxing last night. My arms have that "Good" hurt today. :thumbsup2

Kristi - Resist! Resisit! I'm going to Orlando next week for a conference and not planning a WDW jaunt.

Angie - W'sup? Hope the TM run goes ok.

Shannon - :welcome:

Everyone - Keep up the great work!!

::cop:
