Hello everyone!

For those new to us, we are a group of people who are planning to participate in walking/running events throughout the year. For most of us, the ultimate goal is to train and compete in the annual WDW Half/Full marathons. We'll also be posting news and training for various other events throughout the year. We range from beginners to triathletes. Come join us, whether you're training for an event or walking/running for fitness!

New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Thanks to everyone for the college advice. In-state certainly sounds better financially. I was checking out tuition for Wake Forest...$36K per year :faint:
We'll have to see what kind of scholarship opportunities DD15 comes up with. Right now she's just happy to not be a freshman anymore (last day of school was yesterday).

Cam...congrats on your run! Wtg girl! :worship:

Howard...congrats on graduation!

Liz...sorry about your accident! Hope you're healing up okay.

Movie trivia...Belle strolls through the streets of Paris in one of the opening sequences of Hunchback. The Pixar movies usually have some of their own special quirks too. A113 is found in each of those movies in some fashion...apparently a lecture hall from the college some of the Pixar dudes attended.

WISH team marathon weekend events for those who asked.
We have the 'official' dinner meeting at 4:30 ish on Fri of marathon weekend. We've been at the Pop Century food court the past 2 years. The team photo is taken (many, many times) while there!
Post-race meet at Boardwalk Bakery on Mon morning. Bring the bling for another team photo!
I think Denny's organizing an Illuminations dessert party again.

Claire – Glad that your 2-week class went well! That sounds like a crazy schedule. And jumping over a moccasin? :faint:

Amy – Thank you, thank you, thank you for those stretches! I tried them tonight after my run, and I could really feel the difference! Though DH did look at me strangely when I went and stole one of his old, ugly ties out of the closet.

Tracy – Too cool about the hidden Mickey! Though I wonder what Donald would think of having a Mickey showing up on his medal? :rotfl:

Mel – Good luck with the college decision! It's a tough one, for sure.

Me - Did 2.4 miles on the TM tonight, and felt really good about it. Yay!

Good afternoon WISHers!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.

Waaaaay too much LTO/WTO going on these days.

Got a couple of runs in last week and that's about it.

Everyone - Have a great week and train hard!!

Cam - You are a runner!!! :thumbsup2

::cop:

Mel: not sure if you realized this but the thread says, "week of June 2nd" which is tomorrow. Not sure if you want it to be tomorrow, but today is the 1st.:rotfl2: :rotfl:

Hey Ang!:wave2: I feel like I haven't seen you in a while, I haven't been on this thread that much. Good job on the TM! Getting those miles in!

Have a great week everyone! I just got in, man it is really warm out there today. I did 2 miles, 25 minutes. Of that I ran 15 and walked the other 10, in intervals. I am working through my issues of having to stop and walk a little. I have to keep telling myself it is okay to stop and walk! The library emailed me and the Bingham book is in so I'll be picking up tomorrow.

Our first 5K is in less than 2 weeks, June 14th. Gonna need all the pixie dust you can muster!

Allyson

Hey all...Just popping in to say I met my May goal for running and biking.
100 miles running
200 miles biking

Sorry been MIA but my life is crazy (with work, summer schedule, shows, DDs schedule, and trying to get the miles in.) So know I think about everyone everyday, but may not have time to post.:lovestruc

I am starting DD10 on C25k tomorrow. She is excited (right now). We are gearing up to really do a 5k together. She is really into the food for fuel and running shoes, ect.
Gotta go!:moped:

Hey WISH team,

I went out for a 12 miler with about 12 from our clinic. Took us about 2 hours in the heat. We made sure we stopped to take on water at every possible fountain, and made a pit stop at a gas station for Gatorade and trail mix.

Reminder to everyone. Be sure to carry either a gel, a powerbar, some pretzels, or a few bucks with you on your training runs and races. You never know when you're going to need the extra fuel or hydration.

Have a great afternoon everyone!

Hello all you WISHers!!

ANG: I guess Donald would have nothing to do with Mickey being on his medal if he had anything to say about it. I do think it's pretty cool, since it is the only one that has that.

VIC: Glad to hear you got some runs in last week even though L&WTO. Hope you got to see some NASCAR today.

ALLYSON: Walking is o.k. (this coming from a racewalker :) ) Your getting the miles and time in - good for you! I'll send you some PixieDust for you first 5k. Just remember the 5k itself will be the easy part, the training for it is the hard part (IMO). pixiedust:

CHRISTA: Nice work on meeting your miles goal!:woohoo: I think its neat that your helping your DD do the C25K and that she wants to do a 5K with you. (just an aside, I think its funny seeing younger kids in 5ks, some of them will sprint as fast as they can and then they walk or poop out and mom or dad has to keep encouraging them to keep going - good for you getting her into a PLAN I'm sure it will help her alot)

JEFF: Nice job on the 12miles - I only did half of that. You are going to do awesome at the DL 1/2!!:thumbsup2 I need to get over to the LOST thread and add my 2cents at some point.

DEBRA: Where are you? How did your move do?? Did you take an icecream breaks? Hope all is well.

DUCKIE: I miss you, hope things are good and the MAC gets back soon so you can catch up.

And for me you ask??? (did you ask?)
I did my LW today of 6miles - although at this point I don't see it as that long. (isn't that weird how that happens?) It was about 83 when I left the house at 7:30am and there was NO BREEZE. I had a dog encounter incident which I put on that thread. I was a sweaty wet mess, yuk. But what are you going to do? This is my first summer with training involved (for the DL 1/2), so I guess I'll get use to it. I'm off to have my celebratory ice cream. Edy's slow churned cookies & cream. Have a nice evening everyone.

Hi All! I just wanted to pop in for a quick hello. Work has gotten much busier and therefore I have not time to reply to everyone. When I am at home it all the domestic duties and no time for DISing.

Hope everyone has a great week!!!
Stacie

Wow! Still on page 1...maybe I'll get this posted before it goes to page 2.

Had a good weekend. Did a bike trip with DH so I could show him my route to work. I'm going to try to put in a bike trip or 2 this season. I do WISH that it works out that I can do it. Took about an hour to go 6.5 miles there then had to turn around and repeat it home. It's uphill both ways!

Cam is a Runner!

Howard is a Masters Grad!

Lynnda bakes yummy and cool looking cakes!

Jeff hosts bbqs that freeloaders love!

Liz IS getting better! (right?)

Hi everyone!

Just stopping in for a quick hello. Got back today from my long weekend at WDW. Very relaxing. Spent more time in the pool than I ever have!:goodvibes

Will try to catch up with everyone in the next day or two. Right now I have to go to bed before it's time to get up for work. Getting a new boss tomorrow. Should be interesting!:scared1:

Terri

Good Monday Morning, all.

Had a pretty good weekend, what with the first gin & tonic of the summer and the homemade ice cream (Carmelized Chocolate Nibs---yummy!) Got in a 75 min SuperCircuit class yesterday and 40 minutes on the bike today. Hoping to get in to see an ortho guy this week about my knee. I miss being able to run--never thought I'd say that!

Everyone seems to be doing well in training, which is great. Keep up the good work.

Maura

Christa - as always :worship:

Cam
- you most certainly are a runner, woman! :thumbsup2

Not much to post. Life has been crazier than ever. I am hoping things will settle down next week. We are leaving Wednesday for Florida. It's my grandparents' 60th anniversary and we are going down to surprise them! :hyper: Sadly, there is no WDW in this trip, but we are headed to Sea World one day. I haven't been there since '96, so it should be lots of fun as well. I am hoping to do some walking in the early morning or early evening if I can squeeze it in with the visiting and socializing. ;) I have my priorities, ya know! :lmao:

Hi TEAMJust wanted to pop in to say hi:goodvibes I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and a messed up thyroid, so I better crack down on the "low cal" sweets.:worried: Anyway, just wanted to say hello. Have a great week guys.:goodvibes

Morning WISH Team!! Sorry I have been so absent - we leave for WDW on Friday and I we are scrambling to get everything done. Plus, we had an out of town wedding this weekend so that just compounded things. I really feel like I haven't ran in ages even though my last run was only last Wednesday!

What's this I hear about Mickey being on the Donald medal? Blasphemy!! Everyone knows Donald is the BEST!! ;)

Lily, I might entertain the totally crazy thought that I can get up to 13 miles by October but I will be running Race for the Taste that day! I've yet to run on the towpath even though it's not that far from my house. Maybe I'll go there tonight?

In the event that anyone wants to live vicariously through me and Grumpy Jeff next week while in WDW, we have a trip blog: http://characterhunters.blogspot.com/ (not shamelessly plugging AT ALL. Nope, not me.) :rotfl:

Morning team!

I had a fantastic time at my first duathlon this weekend. I finished the 3k run - 26k bike - 3k run in 1:37:58. I came in 2nd in my age group (out of 3, hehe)! Everyone was so enthusiastic and encouraging, it was such a great racing atmosphere. I wish I could say I had another multi-sport event coming up, but dus are few and far between here. It looks like I may have to get my swim on over the winter so I can get into the world of tris next year...

I did get a run and some yoga in yesterday but both were pretty...meh. I ran up a big hill early in the run and it zapped a lot of energy from my legs and I never really got into a groove after that. At hot yoga I was sweating like you wouldn't believe so I had a tough time getting a good grip on the mat for some of the poses. Needless to say today is a full rest day....::yes::

Scott - I've been denied access to your blog..??

I can't read scotts blog either, you have to be an invited reader. Maybe something happened and he had to close it off or something. :(

Greetings Race Team -

I'm paying the price for using the "Jabba The Hut" training plan for the past six weeks. Three miles at the track on Saturday and there isn't a part of me that doesn't hurt in some way. :headache: The thing that hurts the worst is my ego. So, OK, back on the five days a week MFM training plan.

This morning I did 30 min on the TM. Yes, with my new Ipod which I managed to send flying across the room because I hit the headphones wire and sent it over my head.:duck: I think I better go back to the library and get some more Cary Grant movies That seems to work out better for me.

Christa
- Awesome! :worship:

Monica - Welcome to the "Recently Diagnosed with HPB" club. My doctor told me to exercise more. Yeah, OK! I'll just quit my day job! :rolleyes2

Leana - Excellent! :thumbsup2 Congratulations! :woohoo:

Hey Team - After 11 hours of dance recitel mayhem, I spent yesterday doing lots of gardening and a bike ride with the trailer to the store to get more potting soil.

For those that want to see... here is a pic of my girls before the recitel. The yougest likes to show off.
