Good morning TEAM!
Today I woke up with a lot of pain, but no more than usual. I see the neurosurgeon tomorrow, I'm hoping he will tell me what I can and can't do. As much pain as this causes me, there is no pain while running. That makes it all the harder to not run.
Sunny - I can only imagine how you must feel. I had only been consistantly active for 6 months before my pain started. You were lightyears ahead of me and I am feeling very much a slug who can't move. I've put the 5lbs I dropped back on and that is adding to the feeling of being a slug. In my case, at this point I can't find an exercise that works without causing more pain within in few hours post. I think I am going to try to hit the pool this week to see if water walking helps.
Maggie - Can you tell me how you get multiple quotes in a reply?
Judy, When I post, I have 2 windows open, one that I read, and the other I use for typing replies. I copy the quote in the first window, go the the second window for reply, click the wrap quote icon, paste the quote. It then enters the quote in the reply box.
As I type that it sounds confusing, but it is really simple and quick. I am sure someone here could explain it better than me. HTH
Sorry to hear about your back pain. Take it easy and ice.
MelR - you and your son are so cute! Great pics.
Maggie Best of luck for a pain-free treadmill walk today. Im also taking my two youngest with me to WDW and leaving my 16 yo DS at home due to school. Ohana sounds great for a birthday/post-marathon celebratory dinner!!
Sara - How old are you youngest? My dd15 (16 at the time of the marathon), was dissapointed, but I told her that we could have a girls only trip for a short weekend in May for the Minnie!. It would be our first trip without her brothers since they joined our family and our first trip just she and I. She was VERY excited at the thought. She already has told me she would like to spend one day just strolling around the World showcase without having to worry about her brothers melting down. She enjoys good/interesting food and shopping! Gotta Love her!
RedSonya - welcome, I can't answer to the humidity vs. dry heat, but I am sure someone here will be able to help.
Good luck. I would encourage you to add intense cardio sessions which are non-impact, not-running. You won't get the exact same fitness, but you won't get hurt so much either.
Craig - thanks for this advice, I know you were talking to Dave, but this is where I may have gone wrong. After being only moderatly active, I started with only impact activities and nothing to break it up, so six months later it hurts to walk. But then I have to wonder if I had a problem before from having such a physical job, and the running just brought the problem to the surface! Once I am back into play, I will absolutely add non impact activites to my week.
Kaycee - Welcome!
Minnie - How is it going?
As for my try at the treadmill yesterday, it didn't really go well. PT last night was miserable. They reevaluated me last night, and my right hip mobility in terrible. Oh and he said I walk funny on the treadmill!

What he actually said was Do you always walk like that? Ofcourse I said like what?

Anyway, apparently I walk with my hips externally rotated quite a bit more than the average person.
I am keeping at physical therapy 2x week, and will see the MD on the 5th. Until then, I am going to try the pool.
Thanks to all of you, my spirits are still up, and while I am definately out for the CDC half in Aug, I still have high hopes for WDW half.
Have a great day!
Maggie
