Wk of Jun 25--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Ohh, I am wearing my new socks for good luck in my 5K tomorrow. I can't wait to try them on!!!

Krista - I love your Hines stories (especially the sock, it cracks me up every time). Your Hines stories reminds me of my Sadie. She is a Golden Retirever that always is into something new. Right now she is a cone head (literally, she is wearing a cone). I am going to take some pics of her to remind me of this. My parents have this "now what did Sadie do" attitude with her, but everyone loves her! She has a mammary infection and she tried to lick away, thus causing a big gaping open wound (very gross). She is on 4 meds and a cone. She is getting lots of attention because she is a big dog with a big cone head. She also runs into everything and has no peripheral vision.

OK, time to finally go home for the weekend. I have an evening of grocery shopping and rest coming my way. They are now predicting high humidity and storms for tomorrow. Hopefully the storms will be later.

OK - I know i'm off topic, but I know and trust you guys!! I just booked a family suite at the ASMu (look how adept i'm getting at disney speak!). Is that ok? I've got my parents coming for some of the days that we will be there including the marathon. Anyone?Anyone?

MelR - Those are pretty new, so I don't know how many WISHers have had a chance to stay in them. The pics looked like they had a lot of room adn amenities for a good, price though. I hear they're booking pretty quickly too. I'd say you did good. You asked abour air too IIRC. Just super skimming today. I've heard taht WDW has ooffered some good flight deals recently. I'd check Expedia or Travelocity, tehn call WDW to see how they compare. Someone told me recently that the best prrices are around 90 days out. personally, I couldn't wait that long, though. I am hoping to book next week. The airline I go through should have prices out by then. :worried:

Good morning team! Love everyone's pictures...

I rode the stationary bike for 12.6 miles, that took an hour then used the sky walker for 15 mins. Today will be busy, so I won't be able to workout, but tomorrow I get off from work at 11:30 am  so I plan to have a long workout then.

I have read before how difficult it is to keep up with these boards if you miss a couple of days and now I know why. Holly cow, I have been swamped at work and with a home improvement project and haven't even had time to lurk and look at all that I missed. Limited time so PD to all those in need, good luck to all racers today, tomorrow and on the 4th and :grouphug: to everyone - just because there is nothing more pleasing than a hug. I have only run twice this week because during my Noah's ark race last week I twisted the same ankle twice and it has been sore al week and I simply wanted to rest it rather than push and hurt it even more. I hope to run in a neighborhood (called the Good Neighbor Run) race on the 4th and am not sure if I will do the 5k, 10k or 15k event. This is a neat event in that there is a 5k loop that, if you so choose, you can run one, two or all three loops. Have a great day and weekend if I do not get back on line - off to install a ceiling fan and 6 new recessed lights (oh the joys of crawling around in a hot attic for hours).

Good morning, all! I hope that everyone doing events this weekend has a fabulous time!

This week's MfM schedule called for 4 miles this morning. I did them last night on the TM so that I could "sleep in" this morning and then cook for a party we are attending. My pace was exactly 14:00 -- 56:00 for 4 miles. I am still able to do the run intervals at 6 mph which is exciting to me.

Anne -- Thanks for reminding me, sweetie. I stood there last night and stretched before starting the TM, just so I could thank you for your thoughtful reminder.

Not sure what kinds of workouts I'll do tomorrow or Monday since the first 5K is Tuesday early a.m. I hope they start it on time this year. It is always soooo hot! I am already thinking that knowing the course is going to help motivate me. It's not so bad if you know what you are facing and how much further you have to go. The worst thing is my lack of depth perception and changes in topography that can literally send me to the ground, so I am limited in how fast I can do this on the streets. Just hoping for a respectable finish time.

Mel -- The family suite sounds great. I saw pix somewhere on the boards recently and they looked like an awesome option. I am so glad you were able to get them -- I have heard they are in high demand.

I can't wait for SWA to release flights for January. I have a $208 credit from being able to reduce our tickets to DL from $139 each way to $99 each way, and then a free flight voucher for me, so we should be able to do our airfare at no incremental cost for this trip! YEAH!! :thumbsup2

Well, I am off to shower, cook and clean. Have a great weekend everyone!

I did my LR today. Like Cam, I am following the MfM program. I did 4 miles in 56:39. Cam beat me by 39 seconds! It sure was hot and humid out there. :sunny:

Hey all! Have not done anything "exercise" wise today. I did work in the yard..Planted 6 Crepe Myrtles (sp?). 2 were a good size, but the rest were small....I am kind of sore from my LR yesterday. I'm a little surprised b/c I haven't been sore like this in a long time and I only uped the milage 1 mile (from 10 to 11) And it only took me 5 min longer than normal. :confused3 Maybe it is the heat???

Cam and TXbelle - congrats on your killer 4 mile time.

Jen - How was your 5k????We are all wondering?
Christa, All the races I have checked into have 30-39 as the age group. I need to look harder for a 35-39 age group. I would LOVE less competition!!!! I am the old lady in my running group! I so don't fit in, but keep trudging at it to gain strength and speed.
I know my new age group next year will be 35-39 for all the NC and SC tri's....Yet another good thing about Tri-ing....And there are always so many less females in tri's...for example, my tri in Oct, there are now 260 people signed up and only 60 of those are females.
I also checked a few marathons I do including WDW and the age group is also 30-34, then 35-39. NYC does do 30-39, so I guess everyrace is different. Also, I know the 35-39 age group for guys is not less competitive...sorry guys!

goofyguy - :wizard: to your ankle. I always do that when I trail run....It hurts and you are smart not to try to push through the pain. Good luck the race! Have fun in the attic! :goodvibes

Happy 4th to everyone...I am sure there are some great races this weekend...Good luck to anyone racing.
