Wk of Jun 25--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Dana-if you stay offsite, you will have to drive to the start. They will give you a parking voucher in your race bag. I'm not sure what time the last bus runs from the hotels, I am very paranoid about not making it on time so I got on the first bus at 3:30 and just hung out & talked at the warm up area. (and peed several times)

Lynne-WOW, I didnt realize you were going for Kona?!?!? That's awesome. We watched it this year & it was really neat to see. DS8 want to do that & the Tour de France when he grows up :thumbsup2

Krista-those pics are great! Boy is does make me homesick & I was just there 3 weeks ago

Dave-I love that term- swogging

Matt-WElcome!!! I have family in Destin & when I was in college BIL was stationed at Eglin & I lived with them on the weekends (I lived in Mobile) Small world! Oh, and I'm another who had never done any kind of event prior to signing up for the half last year. Big time couch potato so I know you guys are already big steps ahead with all the PT you do.

Cam-glad to see you back! yep, the only thing holding me back is my ankles. I have tendonits & not sure they will hold out for full training. Your pace is awesome! I am terrified to sign up but then again when I think about not doing it that doesnt seem right either. :confused3

Today was an off day! :cool1: VBS is exhausting but we have had a great week. I havent eaten one bad thing of the volunteer snack table  I've been brining my own snacks & staying away from that area. That is a big accomplishment for me. Hopefully weigh in on Sat will show it.

Hey all - I too must stop skimming, I couldn't work out why MelR was trying to exercise with a cat until I read slower.

All good here, not much to report, am making it out there for all my runs, it's an 80 minute session this weekend. Running buddy is well and truly back which helps - although my plan of losing 6kg while she was away kind of failed - I managed 2kg, 700g of which went back on last week as she's started losing weight again now she's back. There's definitely something odd with me and running buddy, she loses I gain -and vice versa. Sadly she's way more discplined on a diet than I am so guess who always gets the extra pounds!! Must get the little plate out of the cupboard again, it's the only thing that works for me.

That's about it for me, and I'd better go as I've got a page to write (just skiving while I wait for inspiration to hit). Helen

Everyone sounds so good!! :cool1: :cool1:

Tiff, what an amazing feat...no eats off the snack table!! WW should give you restraint points!! :thumbsup2
Dana, When Matt wrote about running at noon, I just shook my head. :sad2: I live in the same area. DH jogs in the evening, but I refuse to walk after 9 am from May to October!! When you are active duty, though, you just gotta do it whenever you can squeeze it in, I guess.
Sunny, Dave and others that will be camping this weekend. Have a WONDERFUL time!
Christa You look fabulous!! Your DDs are so cute! My DS came up with a reply for people who has a compliment or complaint about his weight. He looks them in the eye and says, "Why, thank you, so do you!" :lmao: Do you think your MIL is just jealous?
Lynne, WOW!! You are just awesome. I can't believe the human body can do all of the stuff you do, not to mention become a doctor at the same time! :worship:
Mel Proud of you for getting to the bottom of the scheduling snafu!! :badpc: <-- substitute pediatrician's office for the computer. You enjoy that chocolate!!
MelR You and the boy are just too cute. I'm amazed at the equipment that is out there now that enables children to accompany active parents! ..and you and Phil are some active! :rotfl:
Krista Thanks for sharing the gorgeous pictures! Hines is not interested when he sees the sock in the road?
Jodi Way to go on your weight loss!! :cheer2:

I've been able to actually do some TM'ing this week. I will eat breakfast Saturday morning this time, before I head out for 3 miles.

For those going to DL, I posted some restaurant information on the Disneyland Bound thread. Hope it helps us get some ideas for a WISH meet.

Have a great FOURTH OF JULY!!

No time for a real post, but wanted to let everyone know that I just put the shirt order in!

Hey Team!!! :teeth:

OK....wow....catching up is hard work. First of all....I'll be out of here for a few weeks with (gasp) NO COMPUTER ACCESS!!! So I am going to wish all those in the U.S. a wonderful and safe July 4th Holiday! Also...happy training to everyone. The time is nearing for actual, real FULL MARATHON training which I begin in August :goodvibes . I'm just so ready to get into it for real!

I've been doing pretty well. The trail race on Friday was brutal but sooo much fun! I rested on Saturday and then did a quick 4 mile run in approx. 40 minutes on Sunday. But i was wiped on Mon so skipped KBX. Tuesday did another 4 miler, Wed Yoga and yesterday KBX. Today I'm contemplating another run or possibly just yoga. I plan to run my booty off down at the beach the next few weeks.

Krista: LOVE the pics!!! Thanks for sharing them :goodvibes .

Christa: Same to you!! Loved seeing your pics...the kids are sooo cute! :teeth:

Mel: Sorry about the issue with DD and the doc :(. Sending some PD for you!!!!

Cam: WOW!!! Great pace :cheer2: Way to go!

Carrie: Cool about the T-shirts. Thanks again for handling that!!!! :grouphug:

Jodi: WTG on WW. CONGRATS!!!!!

Woo Hoo Carrie! I cannot wait to get the shirts! I am so glad that I bought more than 1 so that I can save 1 for DL and use the other one for training now.

Jodi- Great job on the weight loss! I haven't weighed anything close to that since my wedding day in 1994! I guess 4 kids and a high stress job will do that to you. I am hopeful that my marathon training will help with my weight problems. Someone remind me how much speed you gain with each pound you take off. I know I have seen that posted on here before. Maybe that will motivate me.

Mel- I hope you enjoyed the chocolates. You deserved them! Just know that this will all work out. You are such a great mom and have more patience and composure than most in dealing with these tough issues.

Cam- Good to have you back on the boards. Sorry work and life have been so crazy for you. Hopefully you and Howard can relax this weekend.

Tiff- Tomorrow is the first of July. The 1/2 and the full will close by mid-August I predict. Whether it is the 1/2 or the full, sign up before it is too late. You have to come!

Lynne- Great job on all your Tri's. Keep studying and :wizard: for good results on all your exams.

Sara and AmyBeth- Where are you guys?

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July holiday weekend.

As for me, I did 15 minutes on the recumbent bike and 15 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I read my book while exercising, and it went by fast. Tomorrow is my LR, and I am going to run/walk 4 miles. I will have to get up early because like FL, if you aren't on the road by 7 a.m. the heat and humidity is suffocating! Need to remember to charge my ipod tonight. DH got me an armband holder for the ipod for my birthday in May. I need to find that too so I can try it out. I am looking forward to hitting the open road.

DIS Board member "DisneyMarathon" posted a cool website on another thread: www.disneyrunning.com Maybe this is old news to everyone, but I have never seen it before. Off to check out all the photos.

Oops! Hi AmyBeth! There you are. Our posts must have crossed in cyberspace. Have a great time on vacation!

Lynn - which one is the pink panther? You know there is a web site just dedicated to pink bikes? We need to start one for people who have too many!! Hi, I'm melissa and I like to buy bikes. Hello melissa. I would love some help on a training program for that 1/2 im. I am on no particular schedule. I think i have about 7 weeks and i don't know what all of those different swim workouts are, so i only swim distance. I can swim a mile and i can run 10 miles. I havent biked 50m in a long time, but i've done a few rides over 30 in the past few weeks and i don't see it as being any problem. I, unlike you, would not be going for speed, but rather just to finish. I'm thinking, as i tank in the heat, that i would probably either walk or w/r a lot of the run and take it pretty easy on the bike. I can't really control my swim time, it is just slow no matter what.

Carrie - I'm so exctied to get my shirts! I got the ls bc that way i could wear them in the park all week when it gets cool at night and then maybe i'll get to meet more of you guys!!

Krista - I'm so glad that your dising is complete!!!! I love the pics of you and stephen they are wonderful!

Tiff - you should pat yourself on the back for such restraint!!

Mel- I'm sorry about your dr. issues! I got confused when i was skimming about the food porn too!

Yah, I can't wait to get my shirts. I wish I would have ordered more!!!

I have my 2nd 5K tomorrow and a little concerned. I am so tired this week and my knees are aching so bad. I am resting today and going to bed early tonight, so hopefully that will help. I plan to take the pace slow and just use this race as experience. I know I will never win, so why stress it. I just hope my legs don't give out, especially my knees!!

I had my group run last night and almost died on it, and it was an easy week. See, I told you I was struggling. Some days lately I am very close to giving up but my DH says no way. He wants to go to WDW. Hmmmmphhh! So I keep trudging on. But I never feel like I am improving and not sure what I am doing wrong. I am going to try to up my distance to 4 miles on weekends, even if I have to walk more. Do you think that will help me???

OK, the GA Peach truck is in town and I need to run over and get some. YUMMMM, we don't get great produce here very often!

Good morning and T.G.I.F!

I got up to train this morning but instead turned off the alarm clock and went back to bed. When I woke up at 6:10 I had a headache...and I still do. :sad2: Grrrr.

To all you campers this weekend.....have fun and I hope the weather is great for you! :boat: (We have no camping smilie so this will have to do.)

Jodi - Thanks for asking. I have my first WI tomorrow morning. It's been somewhat hard, being this is the first week. My first week enthusiasm has been tempered somewhat by my inability to go cold turkey. Going from gluttonous to OP may take some tapering, so to speak. But thanks for asking. And I agree with you about Krista and that is a PERFECT description! I have no "basket" experience but I'd love to get one filled with all kinds of things that have to do with my interests. So if you are making one for someone who has a horse or cat I can help you out there.

Carrie - Thank you!! :goodvibes

Amy - We will miss you! Hurry back! :wave2:

OK today I am cleaning my office and going home early. I'll try to get on the computer this long weekend and check in, but we have all four kids this weekend so I might be drinking heavily. JK!

Have a Happy 4th of July!

Hey everyone! Just got back from my LR of 11 miles...soaked in a cold bath and drank (is that a word?) a BIG glass of chocolate milk! I did the whole thing in 1 hour and 35 min. That ave out to 8:38.2 MPM :thumbsup2 . I though I was going so slow b/c of the heat, but it ended up being faster than I expected.

Krista - I want you to know I saw a sock in the road and thought of you! :rotfl2: I am sure everyone driving by thought I was nuts b/c I was laughing so hard and noone was around.

Jen117 - DON"T GIVE UP! It will get easier. Try slowing down your speed, that may help. If you are adding milage, slowing down will help...I am not really good at pacing, so I know this is hard.

Jodi - Congrats on the WW :cheer2: !! You have done so good...WW is the only thing that has ever worked for me so I share your joy!!

Lynn - ALL I CAN SAY IS DUDE! :woohoo: I cannot see me being able to do an ironman....I do someday want to do a 1/2 ironman but a full...DUDE!

Mel - so sorry about the doc issues! Eat some chocolate for me! :teeth:

Hi, guys! Not much new here. Did xt last night before going to a movie and making myself sick with movie popcorn. I swear, it's a compulsion! So, 30 minutes on the bike with a good book last night.

Maybe I will force myself to get back there tonight to do something like upper body (which I haven't done in months). I feel very undisciplined about a structured training schedule right now, but am forcing myself to be content with working out at all.

Tomorrow morning is a 4 mile walk. Normally, I'd head out to the state park track which is 1 1/8 miles, but I'll have to check on the conditions there before I do that. Otherwise, it is going to be a walk to the shopping center, around the lake a couple times and back home. I know I won't be able to do the TM pace from the other night when I am out on the streets, so to speak, but maybe I can force myself to get into the habit of doing intervals.

Dave -- I wore my socks last night. Thank you again for working on such a cool design!

Judy -- After 17 months on WW, I am still "tapering" (see popcorn confession above :guilty: )

Mel -- I am thinking so much of you and DD. I hope everything goes smoothly from here. Sending prayers and pixiedust: and :goodvibes: for a very non-eventful visit to the urologist.

Tiff -- Great job on avoiding the snack table. You are so disciplined! :thumbsup2

Oh, great! Having trouble posting again. Just what I need. More later. :confused3

HELP!!!! I'm having reservation making trauma again!!!! At least i'm starting earlier, but last year it was cheaper to wait b/c helen found that marathon savings code for me (well not just for me, but....) So, my question is.... it is cheaper to just do it all through disney or is it all the same price everywhere?? should i just get the whole package through their res. number or do i get on a web site and make flight plans.... what abut the dining? can i only get that thru disney? can i add it if i get the stuff though travelocity??????? help (i'm a little more disney literate, but not much!)

Lynn - ALL I CAN SAY IS DUDE! I cannot see me being able to do an ironman....I do someday want to do a 1/2 ironman but a full...DUDE!

Christa - come do that one here in AR w/ me in august! I'm just going to go to finish, not to race b/c there is no way i can maintain any speed for it anyway!! Comeon!!!!!!!!! PLUUUUEEEESSSe. It is the cats 1/2 ironman at lake degray in arkansas. I;ll send you a link to the web site if yo have any interest!

Christa - Thanks for the push and about the slowing my pace. I tend to start out too fast for me, and then burn out quick. Sometimes I feel too old to be starting something so physical (OK, now before you flame me, I know that 34 is NOT old. I just feel old). Also, my running group has a much faster pace than I am used to. And we are a small group, anwhere from 6-12 depending on the day. But that isn't enough people to just hang at the back of the pack.

So I trudge on. I will give a report on my 5K that I am running tomorrow. Please oh Please, let me finish with out any aches or pains!!!

Work is having a party and I am SOOOO hungry. Forget WW, we are having brats. I will just have to NOT count today and start again tomorrow. I am not giving up brats!

Just did a lot of skimming to try & catch up. Sorry, if I miss anyone.

As for me....I still am working on building up my running endurance. I just finished today, week 5 of Couch to 5k, where I wogged for 20min. with no walking breaks. I went really, really slow with a 13:09mpm pace, but I made it!

To everyone in the U.S. - Have a very Happy, Safe, & Fun 4th of July Weekend!

GIRL! 34 is just a baby! (I am 34 too) I thought I was 33 until my DH reminded me of my real age.....hey, next year when we are 35, we will be in a less competitive age group (for females)...at least that's what I have been told! :rotfl: :tinker: PD from Tink for your 5k.

Melissa - you are KILL'n me! I cannot be ready for a 1/2 ironman by August....or could I? I want to so bad! :guilty: Well, DH would never go for it b/c of $$$. I am doing an International didtance 10/7...if I ever have the $$ to sign up.

Christa, All the races I have checked into have 30-39 as the age group. I need to look harder for a 35-39 age group. I would LOVE less competition!!!! I am the old lady in my running group! I so don't fit in, but keep trudging at it to gain strength and speed.

OK, I ate to much at the work party. I tried to pretend I was carbo-loading, but I think I was lying to myself. Oh well... The run tomorrow will do me some good!

Hey everybody! Another super busy day. I didn't run last night, I've been feeling blah lately and queasy (no, I'm not pregnant :teeth: ), so I wasn't in the mood. I'm running tonight, I normally don't run on Friday's, but Stephen's flight doesn't get in until 8:00, so the night is pretty much shot. I'll give you guys a sock update later this evening. Promise.

Mel and Melissa--Guess I better be careful what I write!! Hmmm, maybe I can have a new profession, my nieces and nephews all call me Kiki--don't you think Kiki just screams "adult entertainment". :scared1: :scared1:

Christa--Ooooo, you are so tempted now about the 1/2 Ironman, aren't you?? Dang that Melissa!! ;)

Karen--Yay for you!! Good job on completing your goal! :woohoo:

Judy--Thanks for your kind words! You guys are too nice to me. Here's some :wizard: for the weekend! Hope you survive.

Jen--Good luck on your 5K!

Amy--Good to see you!! It sounds like you are really rocking on your workouts.

Maherae--Good to see you too!! Hines doesn't bother the sock at all, he is actually in obedience/protection training that is pretty extensive and it's amazing what he knows. If he starts sniffing at something, we just tell him to leave it and he does. Of course he does have his puppy moments, but for the most part, he is a very obedient dog. If you are bored, check out http://www.k9usa.com/, that is his school, there is a video clip of Taz (the owner's dog) going through commands--Hines knows how to do most of what is on the video. I know, I know, I gush about my dog like most people gush about their children!

Karen,
I went really, really slow with a 13:09mpm pace, but I made it!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, to even SEE a 13 minute pace!!!

Jen You will do great tomorrow!!
I plan to take the pace slow and just use this race as experience. I know I will never win, so why stress it.
That is absolutely the right attitude to have!! Try and have FUN!:cheer2:
Cam, you have fun on your double 5K..Just STRETCH!! No more pains, please!! :) I think our group has had more than its share...
Judy pixiedust: for your headache!! and don't you dare feel guilty about not doing the TM this morning. You've done it at times when most of use would not have!!
Krista We posted at the same time..Thanks for the link! I am an animal lover. My cousin teaches obedience/agility classes and trains/shows German Shepherds. It's so cool to see what animals are capable of doing!!
