Sunny - go to bed!! It is reallly late there!! I'm night owl too, but it is only 11pm here. I am going to run w/ ec tomorrow and i'm going to put an extra insert in my right shoe to see how it goes. I'll keep you posted! I was thinking that i might need a new pair of shoes. I know i've done 3 marathons in the pair i'm currently using in addition to about 100 more miles. Unfortunately, i've spent all my $$ on bikes :smokin: (just had to use my fav. smile) I love your new siggie!!!!!

OK, I'll go to bed if you'll buy new shoes ;) Thanks on the siggie, its one of my new shirt designs at cafepress. Its as close to a Disney logo as I dare get!!!!!!

Just a quick post for now - last night I did 3 miles on the threadmill I was hoping to do 4, but when approaching mile 3.....I started to feel sick, so I thought I'd better end the run.

Sunny - I love the Goofy 07 Clip Art :thumbsup2

Sorry, guys, that I have been so out of the loop. I now have a week and a half worth of posts to catch up on and lots to respond to, but just when I recovered from Jenn’s graduation open house party (about 60 people starting at 11 am and going through until 12:30 am) and then getting Andrew off to his 3 week Johns Hopkins program, work has gotten very busy. 6 nights in a row last week I got 5 hours of sleep or less. I have been a bit

I havent’ been as disciplined about the training plan as I should have been but have a couple good training sessions recently to report:

Monday night on the treadmill (6/26) – 3 miles in 44:55 (14:59 pace)

Last night was much better! I am really psyched to have pulled this off.

3 miles on Treadmill with the following splits:
Mile 1 -- 13:25
Mile 2 – 13:26
Mile 3 – 13:01 !!!!!! Total time 39:52!

I can't believe I was able to sustain a less than 13:30 pace for 3 miles! Now to build up distance. I will tell you one thing -- when you pick up the pace the time commitment to a training session isn't so bad. There is a BIG difference in planning 3 miles at 17:00 and planning to do 3 miles when you can do them below 14:00. Yeah, it doesn't seem like much, but it starts to get easier, for sure. :confused3

Howard and I are doing 2 5Ks next week after way too much time off. We are doing the firecracker 5K on 7/4 that we did last year. My time was over 50 minutes. I’d LOVE to do so much better this year. Then, a business colleague asked us to do the Lance Armstrong Foundation 5K Thursday night. Not sure about doing 2 5Ks in less than 72 hours, especially since the second one is after a long day of work, but I am really hoping to start demanding more of my body. 3 mile “wogs” should not be a big undertaking for me by now. I should be able to manage that.

Well, I want to respond to everyone, but I’ll start with Tiff’s post from last week:

TiffJ said:
Cam-are you just aiming for a 15 min pace so you can finish comfortably? Where are you staying? What are we thinking?! How are you incorporating the DL 1/2 into the WDW full training? Taking a week off & then hop back into the appropriate week? Will we survive? Will we want to take turns slapping each other en route for signing up for this in the first place ? Are you going to train by yourself since Howard runs? Thats a long way for me to go during training without running my mouth. AGH, so much going thru my mind right now.

Tiff – I have really been training for something better than a 15 minute pace, just because I did that for the Minnie and I am always hoping to improve my pace. And now I always have real cause for concern that my hip/hamstring issue will slow my pace considerably after a distance, so if I can really pick up the pace from the beginning, it gives me a cushion for later. I am doing the MfM ½ marathon plan for Disneyland and then I am going to jump in on the Full Marathon training plan at whatever week it is on to prepare for the Full. I am a little nervous about that, but I am hoping I will feel pretty confident by the time we are done the DL ½. We aren’t returning until 9/23, so I will have pretty much missed most of the week after the DL ½ and will jump back in when we return. I am beyond nervous about the Full. I just have to NOT think about that until I have the ½ under my belt with a good finish time. I am definitely training solo though I really WISH I didn’t have to. I will end up doing as many short walks as possible on the treadmill but have to map out a route for LWs. I have NO IDEA where to go to get in that much distance when I am training for the FULL, especially in November and December in the cold and dark. And Delaware is such a small state! :teeth:

Where are we staying? For DL, we are at the Candy Cane Inn, though our plans aren’t finalized yet and we may move from there for the last couple of days of our trip to see another area. For WDW, we are at Beach Club Villas. It worked out so perfectly there last year being able to walk to and from EPCOT no matter how tired we were.

Dave – My socks arrived and they are wonderful!!! I can’t wait to wear them for the first time tonight at the gym! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

UGH, back to work. I’ll get back here as soon as possible.

Oh, one last thing – last night, Howard and I were on TMs next to each other. He was running. I was "wogging" -- walk at 4.2-4.4 mph and job at 6.0 mph. Everytime I did a jog at 6 mph, it actually felt like we were running together. Of course, I only lasted a minute at a time and he did, like, 25, but for that one minute (x 7), it felt like anything was possible. What a glorious feeling! Maybe some day we will actually be able to go out for a mile or two running together! :cool1:

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cool1:  :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:

That's awesome Cam!!!!! That';s also why Scott and I are doing SRs of 3 miles instead of 30 min. More motivation to push yourself. (Hasn't worked yet, but when we're fully back, it should. )

Greetings all! :wave2:

I took yesterday off for a "Mental Health Day". :teeth: It was very nice to stay home. The past two days I have had two really strong training sessions. :woohoo: I am limiting my running to only five minutes but I really feel like I could do more. Which is a shock to me, I'll tell ya! So both days I did my 50 min @ 3.8 @ 1% with 5 running @ 4.5. I am also really glad to have the TM downstairs in the rec room/finished basement. The humidity is just about unbearable here. I swear I'm growing gills! But it's always cool downstairs.

Mel - Ouch, the booty pain in back. :guilty: Maybe you need a bronc with some shocks! You're wearing your socks already!?!?! Geez, I was saving mine.... Maybe I should just save one pair and start training in the other.

Krista - OMG the Hines mix-up! :rotfl2: And THAT SOCK! :lmao: Oy! You guys are really making me laugh this morning. Oh what great pictures! And oh how adorable you are!!! :goodvibes

Matt - Welcome! :dumbo: I'm glad you found us.

Sunny - Oh I'm so excited to hear about your progress! Whoo hooo! I just knew you wouldn't be sitting around for long!

Christa - Is it possible we have the same MIL? :sad2: Honestly! Where do these women come from!?!?!?

Mel - Oh how frustrating!!! Kinda makes you just want to smack somebody, doesn't it! :furious:

Cam - YAY! There you are! :Pinkbounc Every time I hear about flooding in Delaware I run to the tv, but then it's usually the Delaware River someplace in New Jersey. Wow, your pace is awesome! :woohoo: I'm really impressed! Now, get some rest. I couldn't survive on that little sleep and you have TWO 5K's coming up! :rolleyes1

Hello TEAM:

Not too much to report. I had a 30 min SWOG (i.e., deep water running) yesterday. DD8 princess: came with me and swam while I swogged. She was very excited that she could swim as fast as I would water run. The last lap she tried running with me and said "Daddy, this is hard." I felt a little vindicated.

Cam- Great job on your treadmill workout! :thumbsup2 Be careful with the 2 5Ks in one week. Everyone here is thinking that is how I really hurt my shins - running the Chase Corporate Challenge (3.5 miles) on June 1st and then following that with a 5K on June 4th. Go slow and don't push it. Glad you like the socks!

Krista- Love the pictures! Thanks for posting. Looks like you had beautiful weather.

Judy- Great job on your treadmill workouts and 5 mins of running! Whoo hooo, you ARE a runner! :thumbsup2 I decided to save one of my pairs of socks for January too. I figured I could wear one now, and save the other pair so they don't get holes in them.

Hey, everyone! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures! Everyone looks so great.

Christa - -you are so gorgeous and fit and your princesses are absolutely adorable.
Krista -- your pictures are wonderful. You guys look so wonderful and happy! Gotta love that Disney glow we all get in WDW pictures. It's like we are lit up from inside.

Mel -- Very cute pix of you and DS. Thank you so much for sharing!

Good morning!! I have been SO busy this morning, but I'm not complaining--it's making the day go by faster. Wow, was last night an ordeal. We got a REALLY bad storm, strong lightening and heavy rains (I bet the sock is gone for sure now :rotfl2: ), we lost power for over 2 hours and I think our laptop might have been struck by lightening. :( Stephen is in Orlando this week ( :furious: ), so it was just Hines ( :dogdance: ;) ) and I, I love storms, so I was a happy camper, but Hines was nervous with the lights being off and the storm raging outside, he kept pacing the floor and whining. We're doing 3 miles tonight, I'll be on look out for the sock!!

Carrie--Thanks for instructions on how to post pictures! I was so excited about posting, I even posted some pics to food porn thread.

Judy and Cam--Thanks for liking my pictures! Now that I know how to post, I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot more of Stephen and I.

Cam-- :car: you were rocking on the treadmill last night!! Wow!!!! Good luck on your 5k's!

Judy--A mental health day sounds so good!!! I can't wait to have a day off on Tuesday. But we all know holidays are actually more tiring, family obligations and all. Oh, :cheer2: on running 5 minutes!! You get a :car: too!

Christa--Your MIL! Don't you ever wonder how your DH ended up so normal with a mom like that??!!

Sunny--I love the Goofy clippie! Very cute! How's your back feeling today!

Matt-- :welcome: Glad you're here! Tell your DW not to worry, when I signed up for the WDW 1/2 marathon last year, I hadn't even run a single mile in my life. Since then (May 2005), I've run (run/walk) 3 5k's, 1 10k and 2 half marathons and I'm now training for my first full marathon.

Mel-- :wizard: for your daughter! How frustrating!! It's a good thing you guys all live relatively close.

Okay, it's back to work. Talk to you all later!!! (I wish I could be Southern and cute like Christa and Bree and say y'all instead ;) )

Great job team! :cheer2: Everyone is putting in their steps and making progress.

I ran/walked 3 miles on the TM this morning at the gym. It felt good. Cross training tomorrow. :yay:

Krista - I still say y'all sometimes. It's just eaiser. LIkely why someone at teh marathon expected em to have an accent, though. ;) Be sure to report back on the sock!

Woo hoo Heather! SOundsl iek you're really on the ball again!

Judy - the bronc has both front and back shocks. It's the puss that is ridgid. She has not thrown me, but I've only ridden her 2 times officially and only on the roads. (she is the one w/o any gears too) She is very pretty and light and i think she is going to be nice to me b/c i made her!

I tried the extra shoe insert today. I don't think that is going to work b/c then it hurts in my right shin! Oh well....

Today EC and I went and set up a course for a 5k that she is putting on to benefit the boy's preschool. man, what a hassle. it took us 2 hours to figure out a good course. there is a kids race, which the boy is running and there is a stroller category for the 5k, so i'm going to push the boy for that. It is very hilly, so i think my time might be slower than my natural pace.

nothing exciting going on here. I wore my socks again today. They just make me feel happy!!!

Okay...no more skimming...I'd swear I just read something about Krista posting pics to a porn thread  Scrolled back and found it was actually 'food porn' (one of my favorite threads :cake: )

I've been on the phone more today than any day in my life. Found out it was the pediatrician's office causing all the confusion, not the urologist. The CT is now scheduled for next week, she's still seeing the urologist and we're looking for a new pediatrician. (Judy...yes, smacking would be nice, but after our conversation today, we may be discharged from the pediatrician's office anyway :rolleyes1 )

This is one of those days I really miss running! I asked DH to pick up some chocolate at the grocery store...I'm planning on some emotional eating tonight!

Sunny...how are you doing?

Dave...I used to run laps in the pool when I was a kid...didn't know it was a good workout!

AmyBeth...how's your foot?

Matt...I'm with Krista...I'd never run anywhere unless someone was chasing me until I signed up for the WDW half. Your DW will be fabulous!

Cam...great pace! :moped:

pixiedust: for those of you in the NE...hope you're staying dry!

MelR- I love the PUSS. In fact I'm envious as I don't have either a ss or a fixie. Considering I have storage problems w/ the bikes I have know, that isn't likely to be remedied anytime soon. About the Arkansas (Cats) Half- looks like a decent course and well run event. Slower swim(relatively speaking) due to being not wetsuit legal most years, fast bike, and a run course that is very weather dependent. Just looking at the results from 2004 and 2005, I could make a wild guess that it was probably 20 degrees cooler for the run during the 2004 race than it was in 2005. I bet if you look at some historical record of the weather, you'll find that I'm right. The fact that I can tell that looking at race results means I spend WAY too much time doing tris and looking at results. About the training base needed to do it- can you swim 1 mile, bike 50(on the roads), and run 10 and not necessarily all on the same day? If so, you can do a HIM. If you decide to it and want some suggestions about how to train, let me know.

Sunny- love the Goofy 07 logo. I'm going to put a link to it in the BT thread for Goofy so maybe you'll get some sales that way too if that's okay. I'm very glad that you are getting better.

Mel(chimera)- PD for the kidney stuff. Hopefully, it's just an incidental finding but bummer about the deal w/ the docs.

Welcome to all the new people!!!
PD for the injuries and the life difficulties :tink: :tink: :tink:

Update on me since I switched to lurk mode- I took Step 1 of the COMLEX(osteopathic medical licensing exam) yesterday morning and take step 1 of the USMLE on July 8th so I'm not completely out of lurk mode yet. I travel to West Point(US Military Academy) to go on active duty for my yearly 45 days July 4th. I'll be doing an orthopedics rotation w/ the sports medicine clinic at the hospital there. Training wise- I start my official 10 week build to Ironman Wisconsin on Monday July 3rd but do my first of 4 100+ mile training rides tomorrow. This week's long run is 15. I will build to a long ride of 120 miles and a long run of 20 mile in early August. I swim some too :teeth:

Training for Goofy is going to seem positively relaxing after this. And you want to know the worst thing, I don't think the training volumes are going to make my day on Sept 10th any easier. Why- because I'm going to go into it expecting to race and not just finish. It's not about the '16:59:59- You are an Ironman' anymore, been there done that have the finsher's T shirts and medals. It's now about Kona slots of which there tend to be 4-5 for my age group. Maybe not this year at Wisconsin although I'll do my best, otherwise I'll be totally gunning for a slot next year at Lake Placid.

Last race was a modified olympic distance(1.5 K swim/40 K bike/ 6.6 mi run). Didn't interrupt my training for it, just did it because it was local in ME(where I'm not anymore as of Tuesday this week, now in upstate NY). Also had bike issues as the Pink Panther was in the shop getting 10 speed components and a compact crank put on so I ended up racing my old Quintana Roo. Through some reasons that were entirely my fault, I ended up doing 20 miles of the 25 miles bike w/ the seat at a 15 degree up angle. Not exactly conducive to aero riding or a good bike split. That followed my favorite type of swim- an ocean swim. And then the run was long 6.6 miles rather than 6.2 miles. About all that could be said good for the day was I averaged sub 9 minute miles off the bike and placed second in my age group. Maybe it would have went a little better if I hadn't ridden 40 the day before or if I had put the bike back together right :confused3

Thanks Sunny - I just added into my sig :goodvibes

Just another quickie -- Went in for my weigh in at Weight Watchers.....thinking for sure I went up since last weigh in (a month ago). I'm happy to report, I'm down more :goodvibes

I lost another 3 pounds - I'm now officially down 24.8 pounds total since I joined back in December. I am now, 116.4 pounds (that's with shoes) without I'm about 1 pound less.

I probably will just try and stay at 115 - I think everyone will freak out if I go any lighter. My whole family is starting to get concerned, saying I'm loosing too much but I've been lower and they didn't say anything in the past, I think the running is just slimming me out :teeth:

How is everyone else doing on plan? Judy? Sunny? Krista, I would ask you but you are amazing :) - You remind me of the girl in High School that everyone wanted to be.

So glad you are starting to feel better Sunny :woohoo:

So much for a small post, huh?

Hey - does anyone have suggestions, if I wanted to get the whole basket thing going as a second income how would I go about it? Any advice, books that I can read, etc.

Gotta run,

Jodi

Christa - Have to second the whole bikini picture thing!! WOW!! I can't imagine after having my three boys feeling comfortable enough to post a pic of me in my bikini!! You look amazing though!!

Matt - Are you crazy?! You can't run midday in Florida! :faint: I learned the hard way that running in the sunshine state has to be done as close as possible to sunrise.

Mel - Sorry about the cruddy doc. Don't you just hate those. I've been waiting forever for an appt we had to make for DS20months to see a urologist for a hernia he was born with. They make you just wanna scream.

Well, I know I haven't been posting much. I promise I'll try to get better. DS5 has swimming lessons every morning, so I haven't been able to run this week like I usually do. I missed Monday and Wednesday, then got in a 45 min run this morning, I guess I'll rest tomorrow before I head out for my 6 miler on Saturday. The good news is that he is almost done with week one of his lessons and will only have 2 weeks left after. So it won't be interrupting my running for too long. I have been trying to tlak to DH about our accomodations for the Marathon in January, but I don't think he understands the way this works. Actually, to be honest.... I'm not sure how it works myself. When does the last bus run from the hotels to the race? What if you stay offsite? how do you get to the race start then? If anyone can help me understand this it would be greatly appreciated. Then maybe I can explain it to him, and talk him into staying at POR or POFQ so I don't have to get up so early!!

Take Care,
Dana
