So, does anyone have a race this weekend?

I have a 5K tomorrow!

I just got my new custom orthotics from the podiatrist yesterday. I need to wear them for 1 hour the first day, 2 hours the second, etc for a week. Then I can try and run in them.

Sunny, good luck with the MRI, I bet that is exactly what you had planned for a Friday night, oooh and the top it all off the 20 mile drive home! :sad2:

Mel - You're a funny girl! "Bronco" can refer to a horse of either sex, but it is generally used for boys because, well......the horses used in rodeos are boys because to get them to buck like that they tie a strap around their......."manly parts" and pull it TIGHT right before they go out. We'd all buck like that if our reproductive organs were in a noose. I hate rodeos. I really do. But anyway, let me think of some sort of name for your bike. Perhaps you should start addressing it as "Madam" and "Yes, mam". Maybe it won't throw you so much!
Judy - I hate rodeos too. I've only been to one and I thought that was one of the meanest things I have ever seen! Anyway, I've been thinking about your advice, and I'm not ready to submit to her by addressing her in that manner! She needs to earn a little respect! Additionally, i thought about the whole reason you said the broncos buck. I don't have anything tight on her anywhere, but she does keep throwing off the bike computer every time she throws me. Do you think maybe she is trying to get me to ignore the numbers and just ride? Maybe she is just a free spirit (after all, she has some pretty decals of stars on constellations on her frame). Maybe she isn't throwing me at all, but the bike computer and I happen to be an innocent victim. On the other hand, she might be sick of hearing me brag about how cheap she was and how her predecessor held his value! I don't want her to feel cheap, that is just a quality that speaks to my heart!

Colleen - good luck this w/e!

Sunny - UUUGGGGGHHH!!!! Sorry about the late night MRI. What a pain. You are in my thoughts!

Well, now.......I see your point. But, she's young yet. Maybe she's just spirited. And we don't want to dampen her enthusiasm. Constellations you say? Hmmmmmmm :rolleyes1

Good luck with your 5K this weekend Colleen, and good luck with the custom orthotics too. My PT just put me in a pair of fitted (not custom) orthotics, and we're going to see if those help my shins. The PT had me up on the treadmill today, and I couldn't run at all. We turned the speed up to 4.0, and I was in pain. He had another PT come over and watch my feet - she told me at the end "I'd be in pain too if I walked like that." :rotfl2: I just had to laugh... :lmao:

Sunny - good luck with your MRI.

I'm outta here everyone. Have a great weekend!!!

Hi everybody! :wave2:

I haven't done anything remotely active since last Sunday except pack boxes in anticipation of our move. The good news is, we finally found somewhere to move to! Bad news is my fitness level is reaching an all time low after the Minnie :sad2:

I have a question for all the Garmin owners out there. I'm thinking about buying one, either the 201 or the 205. The 201 is a lot cheaper (only $90 on Amazon) so that is tempting. Is the 205 worth the extra $110+ as far as signal, comfort, etc? I'd like to get one soon because our new place doesn't have a fitness room with treadmill so I'll have to brave the Florida :sunny: if I want to work out.

Thanks for any recommendations you all might have!

Rhonda - :grouphug: and prayers for you and your family.

Jenny - I just bought the 201 and love it, although I have to admit I don't have the foggiest idea what all its features are yet. We didn't look at the 205 - DH bought the 301 so he could have the heart monitor, but the 201 does everything I need and I haven't had any real problems with signal (yet!)

Colleen - Good luck this weekend!

Sunny - Good luck with the MRI. Just be glad the doc is doing something...

Dave - Thanks for all your hard work! I'm sure you could find better ways to spend your day than packing and mailing socks to complete strangers!

Hoping to find time to run this weekend. DH is playing in a soccer tournament; then we leave Sun for Baltimore. I have to be there for work Mon-Wed, but we're going to sightsee in the evenings as much as we can. DD leaves for camp Monday, so there's a lot to get done before everyone leaves. And it's getting HOT again!

Jackie

Lisa and Rhonda- I am praying for both of you and your families. :grouphug: Here's some PD. :wizard:

Still no exercise for me. I am headed to NYC on Sunday afternoon for a couple of days. I checked and they have lots of TMs in the hotel workout room that look out over Manhattan. Who am I kidding? I am going to sleep late and do some shopping on 5th Avenue. I think I will count that as cross-training.

Happy Father's Day to all of our great dads on the WISH team. pirate:

Good morning, everyone! Wow, I can't believe it is 9:35 and no one has posted this morning. :(

Heather -- Have a great trip!

Colleen - Hope your 5K went well.

Sunny -- Do you know anything about your MRI yet?

I have to work all weekend, so I wanted to get my LW done early.
I was scheduled for a 2 mile walk and ended up doing 2.85 with the breakdown like this:
mile 1 -- 15:59 pace
mile 2 -- 15:12 pace
.66 mile -- 14:12 pace
sprint home (.17 mile) -- 10:31 pace

So the Garmin says overall 2.85 miles in 42:34 with average pace 14:57.
I am pleased with the sprint pace. Once I got on our block, I decided to sprint to our driveway. Now, don't laugh -- that is actually kind of far for me. I remember when I was finally able to jog for .10 mile. I am definitely going to work on that. I'd like to improve the distance, rather than the pace for the sprint and will work on the pace for the walking part.

Have a great day everyone! And Happy Father's Day to our WISH dads! :grouphug:

Wow - It's the end of the week already, how did that happen :confused3 I'm sorry everyone that I've kind of been posting here and there but not really staying on this thread.

I have been keeping up with exercising - running, crosstraining, etc. but been crazy busy -- going here and there. Work is still really busy, whew.....will it ever settle down?

Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads on the board :wizard: :wizard:

Had my Personal Trainer session -- great workout! We ran together (on the threadmill) for 2 miles, then on to the crosstraining. I'm really trying to focus on the mid section right now.

My Personal Trainer hasn't seen for about 3 weeks and said "Wow ---You look great! You lost more weight! and everything is sliming down." Then went on to say she has to find the orginal picture of me, of course, that had only come up because I said I still can't see the difference and how I wished that I had been taking pictures.

My planning for my husband to come with me in January is really taking off -- I just wish that it wasn't still 4 months away :teeth: I found some great balloons at a party store today after my session --- bought some in the colors of our wedding and found some Disney ones as well. I already warned hubby that around the time of our anniversary there might be one day where I tell him to beat it, so I can put together the suprises. I really believe that he has no clue about the whole trip. I love planning this type of stuff. :cloud9:

Well, I am going to run -- at some point, I will try and catch up with all of you. :)

Jodi - your DH is going to absolutely LOVE his surprise! I surprised Chad with a quick WDW trip for his 30th birthday and I think I had even more fun planning it!

Cool :) I like you -- love the planning, I am having so much shopping for the little things too!

Kristi, you must have loved the expression on his face, huh? That's will be my reward

Hi all thanks for the well wishes.

I did 2 miles running this morning. I am continuing my training plan but will bail on it immediately if we become pregnant again.

The 2 were good--quite honestly I think I could have kept going for 13.1 miles.

Back to my apartment (we are in DC) and had a good cry on the bed.

Hubby and I have our anniversary date tonight at a lovely French Restaurant in the DC area (actually in VA). Our anniversary was on Tuesday (with the sad thing happening on Wednesday :(). I had briefly wanted to cancel, but glad we are sticking to plan.

Took me about 23 minutes to do 2 miles this morning. I am purposefully running slow. Actually I did a slow run: fast run interval...where I ran at the slow pace for 3 minutes and then kicked it up a notch for a minute and then up another notche for another minute resulting in a running pace of 4.6, 5.3ish, and 6.0ish at the different intervals.

Lisa - I know my post is a bit late, but I wanted you to know you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Rhonda - Sending pixiedust: your way!

Well everyone!! I moved into the new house this past Saturday!! Sorry I wasn't around to chat, but I definatley had my hands full. Thankfully things are starting to get back to normal. I was able to keep up with my running, thank goodness. I got in 5 miles last Friday, decided I would do my long run before we moved, and then 30 minutes Mon, Wed, and Fri. Then I did a long run of 5 miles again this morning. Though, the next time I decide to run on the beach someone needs to smack me!! I forgot how hard that is. Next week I'll be back at the rail trail for my runs.

Well, I gotta run. Kids are driving DH insane, but I'll check back in sometime next week.

"O" By the way!! Happy Fathers Day!!

Dana

Hi WISH buddies!!! I'm back from The World! We had a great time (although Alberto tried to mess us up) and the weather wasn't as bad as it could have been. We were able to work around it & still have fun. A little rain isnt going to keep me from anything down there! I missed you guys. And now I'm back & going to hit training for DL in full force. 13 weeks :scared1: boy is it coming up fast.

As I was climbing the stairs at Blizzard Beach for the 400th time , I was thinking, "man, I thought I was in better shape than this" Those stairs are a killer! So I am definately excited to get back into training mode.

Sorry I can't address everyone. I did miss you all terribly.

Colleen-good luck on you race this weekend! Have you decided about the marathon yet? I began reading "Courage to Start" while we were in Orlando and of course that has me leaning toward doing the full. I'm officially going

Cam-That is so neat that you guys do Special Olympics as a family. I'm very proud of you :Pinkbounc If I do the full, can I walk with you? I think that would keep me entertained enough so that I wouldn't think about how long or far I have to go. See you in DL soon!

Lisa- :wizard: :wizard: I am so sorry for your loss. Have fun on your date night.

Rhonda- :wizard: for you & your family!

Dave and all the other fathers on the board ~ HAPPY FATHERS DAY!! party:

Well I just found out FIL is in town & coming by tomorrow, so I have to go clean.

Hey everyone! I hope everyone is doing great...
Real quick post b/c I am packing for HH! :Pinkbounc SO EXCITED!

I thought about all my WISH buddies on my bike ride this evening. I got a cramp in my side and thought about turning around to go home...but then...I saw a van with Special Olympics writen on the back! I though about Cam then I started thinking about posting tonight and all of you. However, I did not flip over my handlebars like Melissa! :lmao:
I used my little computer thingy and my speed was always btwn 13.9 and 24 mph so I was pleased......I was around 17 mosst of the time. I look foward to riding at HH.
Later! I will try to post there!
