I would like to nominate Judy for the WISH team wit/humor award. Judy, I always love reading your posts! They always have me :lmao:

Oh Mel, thank you for the nomination! I graciously accept! :goodvibes

What a day I had yesterday. :sad2: I've been having some sort of irritation on my eyelids for about two months now. It started to go away but then came back and got even worse. Yesterday I woke up and my eyes were so swollen I could hardly see. I looked like a prize winning pugilist. In one heck of a coincidence I had appointments scheduled for the allergist and the dermatologist. Charlie took the day off to drive me, because I could hardly see. Which was evident when I walked into the bath room and stubbed my little toe against the door jamb and broke it. My toe, not the door jamb.

Apparently I have some sort of contact dermatitis. So now I have ointment on my eyes (Which of course melts and goes right IN my eyes) and I'm supposed to eliminate everything I use on me, and add them back one by one. OK, let's see...that would be shampoo, conditioner, gel, hairspray, mouse, moisturizer, foundation, mascara, eyeliner, face powder.......UGH!

The one good thing is I did manage to train this morning. I gritted thru the pain (There isn't really anything to do about my little toe. They can't put it in a cast or anything.) OK it really didn't hurt all that much. But my nail will probably fall off. Hey! The mark of a TRUE runner! :thumbsup2 Ahh, but I didn't really earn it.

Judy

Christa -- Tell your MIL to take a hike -- literally off a short pier. But not at HH. Wouldn't want to contaminate our beautiful marsh, right? Geez, the nerve of some people. Sending you a  sweetie. You were gorgeous before. Now you are gorgeous and skinny! :teeth:

Carrie -- 3 hours!?!?!? You guys are die-hards!

Kevin -- great pace! :thumbsup2

Dave -- Did you sign up yet for the Empire Games? Can't wait to hear you've done that.

Lisa -- I think my post evaporated when you posted about the Special Olympics movie. I thing it was called the Ringer, or something like that. I haven't seen it, but probably should. If you thought the movie brought you to tears, I can't tell you the number of "moments" one can experience whenever in the presence of our amazing athletes.

Judy -- Sorry about your toe and your contact dermatitis. So, what is new that you have added to your routine? I can't imagine having to go without mascara and eyeliner for a single day.

Helen - congrats for getting out there to run. I know your hatred for the treadmill was a catalyst for being out in that weather, but I think courage counts for something! :cheer2:

Jodi -- sorry work is crazy. Hang in there, kiddo. Good luck on finding the airfare. I am going to have to hold out for a while until SWA releases the dates for marathon weekend.

monte -- welcome back!

princessmomma -- I love people watching at the Y. There is one guy there who has to be in his 50s who is there every single night for hours. He is very buff and I see him using all the equipment and the weight room, too, but mostly what he does is try to pick up young, fit women. He really thinks he is something, but he gives me the heebie jeebies. Sometimes I am so glad I am not attractive or young. I can't imagine being a "target" in a workout situation. ICK!!!

Maggie -- good luck with hour sacrum issue. I wish I had advice to share, but can only send  and pixiedust:

I am really glad I stretched a bit last night before walking my 30 minutes. I am not sore today. I also took aleve before I left work, so even though I wasn't walking until 2 hours later, I think having it in my system probably helped. I am convinced that stretching and aleve is the combination that is going to get me through the DL half.

 OK, so I confused 3 miles and the hour it will likely take us, as we're a little out of shape. :teeth:

solo - lol. In thre hours we could run to meet you for dinner. WIll you drive us home? ;)

WHat kind of a place is this where we earn out lost toenails??? :rotfl2: :grouphug: Judy!I call you an athelete anyway!!! You didn'yt need to lose a toenail to prove it to me! ;)

Then we move on to teh strange man in the oxford with an orb. Just never know what you'll find here. ;)

Minnie and others still battling ailments -- I admire you even more for still fighting through and being here. How many people would use the aches and pains as justification to cop out. Instead, you all look at it as something to work through. It makes us stronger, doesn't it? You aren't just people trying to do athletic stuff. Instead you are athletes who are dealing with health issues to get back to training. Kudos, guys!

Cam - Thank you so much for that :grouphug:

I was finally given the green light to begin walking on my dreadmill again :cool1: . No running until after my WDW trip but exercise walking is allowed :thumbsup2

Tonight will be my first time in quite awhile. I was told to start back easy and not tax my lung or chest out much but it is better than the couch potato that I have been lately!

Yeah, Minnie!!! Go, go, go! Slowly, of course! I bet you will feel great just to do something-- anything!! :goodvibes:

Minnie, great news you have there. I know you will enjoy your opportunities to move some.

Christa, Don't listen to MIL. Sheesh! What is she thinking?

Carrie, 3 miles, 3 hours whatever...you made me laugh with the official start training again week. I need to do that!

Monte, welcome back. Good luck getting back on track.

Helen, whew! on your training. I did all my bad winter stuff on that nasty TM. You are dedicated to be out in that stuff. World Cup Widow, that is amazing the dedication the sport draws.

Judy, I hope that toe doesn't bother you at all. Ouch. And double ouch for the rest of the ailments. Hope things heal up quickly for you.

Jodi, I hope that secret is a big hit! I can't wait to hear the story of the telling.

Interesting people at the gym for sure. I figure though that even if I'm one of those being watched and such, at least I'm there providing entertainment to others! :lmao:

Keep up the great work Team! One step at at time...one foot in front of the other.

Morning all!!!

Jodi-- I'm actually booked for airfare already. I found a price I was willing to pay for (at the time) non-stop flights from my home airport, so I bit the bullet.

Hey Kevin, I finally did it too! Although, I have a bad feeling now they will go back down --- I just wanted one more thing out of the way though:)

It's sure to be  I had his sister snoop to make sure that he wasn't doing the same thing as me, believe it or not it happened to me once before with our last trip, but so far I'm safe.

I booked the airfare tonight for the both of us.....Come on October :rolleyes1 I can't wait to tell him on our anniversary! I just hope he doesn't fall over from the shock of it all.

Don't worry I will share with all of you, pictures and everything :)

I'm pretty sure for our anniversary he will just be surprising me with something in Salem or Boston (we are visiting Salem in October).

Ok, I can finally post in good faith!

I just got back from a 3 mile wog! Since I was able to, umm, liberate my toenail last night, I figured my excuse for not getting out there was gone! ;) I was really, really tired that last mile. But I pushed as hard as I ever have at the end to get under 40 mins. I finished at 39:56. Not my best, but I'll take it for being as lazy as I have been lately!

I also must have looked like a crazy person tonight in my neighborhood. I had Chad add some new songs to the mp3 player. You know that Dance Revolution guy that's on the internet? Anyway, because of him, I had to add "Ice Ice Baby" and "Bye Bye Bye" to the player. (I love cheesy songs!) Whatever works to keep me moving, right?

I don't have time to catch up with you all, I will do that tomorrow at work. But just quickly:

Christa - I would kill to be as "un-thin" as you are! I actually now get told to eat this, that and the other thing with my in-laws since they are all obese. I am the skinniest one around over there! And I am far from being "skinny."

Jodi - your DH is going to absolutely LOVE his surprise! I surprised Chad with a quick WDW trip for his 30th birthday and I think I had even more fun planning it!

Terri-- I am so sorry for you loss. I am thinking of you and your mom.

MelR-- great report. You are absolutely WILD!!!!!! I missed Christa's prayer technique but it must be similar to mine. I pray for the person I see who looks like he/she is struggling and hope someone else is doing it for me :teeth:

Dave-- you are not a fraud. Don't every shy away from something you want ot do because you think your not fast enough. Who would be the back of the pack if we all thought that way :confused3 Go for it!!!!

Cam-- great job on the SO. You must have been beat, but what a great cause. I'm so happy you are out there doing all that extra work. :cheer2:

OMG I can't believe you guys are booking ressies and flights :scared1: I'm living as if it was about March now. I lost most of April and all of May and haven't caught up mentally (and certainly not physically).

Speaking of which, I drove today for the first time in 10 days :woohoo: Where did I drive to? Oh you know the answer! The Y of course! I swam for 30 minutes. Not as pain free as I had hoped. Floating is great, but swimming actually tugs and pulls on the sciatica a bit. But I made a challenge for myself and succeeded: I swam the length of the pool (25 yards/meters) under water.

Then I did elliptical for an hour and then... well I just had to... I got on the TM. I did a wopping 1.25 miles at 1% grade. I walked .5 at 4.2 mph, "jogged" .25 at 4.8 mph, walked .25 at 4.2/4.5 and then .25 at 3.5. Yep, Goofy here I come :rotfl2: But its ~10PM and no pay-back pain yet. If all goes well, I might try 2 miles on Thursday. \

I have a dr's note for the whole week. But I'm starting to feel alittle guilty not going to work now that I can drive. Sitting still doesn't work for long periods, though so better not push it ;)

I haven't been idle, though. I've been working on my cafepress shop (thanks MelR for that great tip). Please check it out and send it to anyone who might be interested in running or Lost merchandise (ya, it's a strange mix). If you or anyone you know does purchase something, please let me know how the quality is. I ordered some stuff but it hasen't arrived yet.

I'm really trying to come up with ways to make money so I don't have to put DS in afterschool care 5 days a week next year. The whole charging a gazillon dollars to read MY MARATHON story just didn't pan out. :lmao:

Speedy-- speaking of the marathon, I'm impressed at your detailed recount of all bathroom locations! I didn't even notice them. OTH, I left my choral at 5:25 AM to use the port-a-potty one more time (located ~500 yards away) and BARELY got back in time for the start :scared1: It was a very close call, espeically since I left my fuel belt with Bree!!!! We were both totally freaked out when I got back at 5:56!

Night all,
Sunny

Sunny -- I am so psyched! My cafepress order arrived tonight. Ordered a "Scream Team" tee shirt for DSalmost13. It is great quality and he is very excited to wear it for the DL 1/2. I also ordered the training journal and the magnet. I am going to keep complete track of all my training in the journal and the magnet is on the fridge, reminding me of what my WISH objective is. Thanks for taking the time to put some stuff up there. I think I ordered a few more of your items today, though I can't discuss them now, in case someone is lurking! :rolleyes1

So, WW WI tonight was not pretty, but I went anyway. I drank way too much water today (120 oz) and was terribly bloated. Hopefully next week's WI will reflect my diligence this week. 3 days in a row of being on-plan and working out. Did 35 minutes on the elliptical tonight for my crosstraining for MfM week 1 workout #2. 30 minutes workout and 5minutes cool-down. 2.53 miles total. Nothing to write home about, but I didn't blow it off in favor of dinner.

Carrie -- How was your 3 hour workout?! :rotfl:

Sunny! The CafePress stuff is so Fine! I'm glad you are feeling better. Please take it easy though. It is not something to push back too fast. It is great to hear that you have significant improvement. Underwater swimming, whew! We had to do that in our Olympic pool during our Lifesaving class in college for attendance. If you didn't make it you weren't there! Oh the memories.

Oh, Sunny, I didn't hear that story!! You and Bree must have been have a little anxious at that point! :rotfl:

Happy to hear you are on the rebound. Slow and steady and Goofy will be a cakewalk.

Here's where Sunny showed her true brilliance. The line was one thing, then pushing my way back to almost the front of the choral was the other major time sink. I finally got there and Bree's FIL says to me, "you coulda just hopped the fence". They were stationed right against the fence. I could have walked almost traffic-free right up to them and then just jumped over :lmao: But don't worry, I had a quick come-back for him. I said "oh."

Oh, thank you for asking about the bday.

It was a great success. I was so proud of DS. He waited patiently until 3PM (party start) with no melt-downs or demands. He was a perfect gentleman and thanked all his guests and their parents. The kids were all great. I had 13. One child got a pretty bad bump on the head, which was sad but he rallied and his mom wasn't mad (TG). Here's a couple of pics. DS is the one in the LIME green shirt ;)

I decorated the cake myself :teeth: DS has been DYING for Cars to come out so I did my best to give him a Cars cake. Unfortunately, the food color ran bled out of the frosting a bit but he was thrilled.

I included the last two pictures to show you the sorry state I'm in. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :furious: Remember how I used to show off my arms :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: There's not one line of definition left. Not to mention the extra 12 lbs I'm sporting. (I'm the one in the shorts!)

It is most definitely about whatever keeps you moving forward. Feel free to shake your groove thing! You are definitely not the only one. :dance3: My kids help me put my music together. It ranges from Hampster Dance, a couple tunes from Daddy Day Care/Kim Possible/Madagascar movie on up to strong finish with Theme from Mortal Combat and Ricky Martin's Cup of Life. :cool1: On those longer runs, it's not always the "inspirational" lyrics that help you refocus. Sometimes it's the beat that keeps me plodding on. Have a great rock'n runn'n week. :woohoo:

Sunny - I think you still look great! The cake was incredible!!!! You did an amazing job decorating it! Is there anything you dont do well? I would guess not!

OK, I'm posting a pic from the race. See if you can guess who is behind me running me in.

Ok, time to catch up with everyone!

Sunny - so glad to hear you are feeling better! And that Cars cake was AWESOME!!! I am planning the in-way-over-my-head Peter Pan party for DS's 3rd birthday this Saturday. I always have such grand ideas, then I have to execute them. At least my friend is making the crocodile cake from the Disney party book. One less thing for me to do!

CJ - great job keeping that pesky ExMon away! I just may have to download the Hamster Dance for my mp3 player... :teeth:

Kevin
- I haven't been to Ocean City since, umm, the 80's anyway. It should be alot of fun. I even bought a boogie board last night. If you have any tips or suggestions, please pass them on!

Dave - DO IT!

MelR - fabulous job not quitting that race! You were absolutely amazing, finishing under those circumstances!

Judy
- :wizard: I've had contact dermatitis on my eyes and it's not fun. I've also broken my baby toe twice - talk about pain! Who knew a teeny tiny toe could hurt so darn much? And if your nail falls off, maybe we can form a club or something? ;)

Minnie
- great news on being able to start walking now!

Cam - I loved hearing about the Special Olympics. What a wonderful thing for you guys to be involved in!

Ok, I think I caught up with most you you!

I may be MIA again. This Peter Pan party is going to be the death of me. If it turns out the way I want it to - it will be worth it though. I am setting up a treasure/scavenger hunt thru Neverland. The kids are going to get a map or list of clues (not sure yet). They will have to find each location (Indian camp, Mermaid lagoon, the Jolly Roger, etc.) At each location, they will get a "goodie" for their "goodie bag" (a.k.a. a sand bucket). The boys are getting pirate themed things since you cannot find Peter Pan anything anywhere. The girls are getting pixie things. So far the weather looks perfect - 84 degrees and no rain in sight! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I doubt I will get a chance to wog today. I have 3 giant posters (tink, hook, peter and indians) to color with markers today.

Sunny - You still look great!! The cake was adorable and the party looked like a blast!!! BTW, your WISH team says to follow doc's orders. No work for you this week!

MelR - I could not see your pic. It told me I needed a cookie, which I do, but I'm trying to be good this week. ;)

Kristi - WAre you trying fo Super Mom? Holy cow that sounds like a lot of work! Good luck!

Minnie - Yay for authorization to TM!

Lily - See below for more motivation to get back on track.

Well, those 3 miles last night felt like 3 hours!!! Yikes! My legs were sore from Curves Monday (double yikes!). I felt like I was running thorugh walls of jello. Plus it was hot. SUmmer's gonna' be tough on me again this year, even though it's cool. Dh was pleasantly surprised that we AVERAGED AN 11:08 MPM AND WE DID HAVE NEG SPLITS, BUT WE ONLY RAN 3 MILES. opps! SOrry about the caps lock. Plus, I knew I'd been drinking too much caffeine and too little water, but the migraine last night proved it. SHoudl not get that from a 3 mile run. SHoudl be hydrated enough notto ge tthat after any run (didn't after teh marathon). SO, we're weening from caffeine again (be glad you don't work with me) and hydrating and hoping for better on Thursay. Giveing the legs a little rest today. Jumping from 0 to 3 days in a row would kill me right now. How sad is that??

Word to the wise: No matter what life throws at you, don't use at is an excuse to slack for 6 to 8 weeks! Coming back is hard, even if you threw a couple runs in here and there! Plus, you'll be a lot less edgy. For about 2 weeks my legs have ached and been cramping up. I'm sure it was due to lack of use.

Sad part? I know better than to do what I've done. Why did I do it anyay?

Keep forgetting to post - Many people used restrooms at T&T

:drinking1 Cheers to a better run Thursday! (Oh, darn, that alcohol's probably got to go too. ;)
