Wk of July 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

My treadmill run was not too bad yesterday! I did 4.5 miles in about 47:00. Not to bad, and I didn't think I was dying! Drank alot though.....I was sweating like crazy.

Kevin and Kim: I am looking forward to meeting you in Toronto!

Stonker run this morning! We were doing a scavenger hunt, which was fun - we had a list of 10 things that we had to find and take pictures of, like the whole group standing on a huge pipe, or 5 members sharing a jelly donut. The run was 10 miles, which should have been easy after 16 last week, but after 8 I thought I'd die! I didn't hydrate yesterday like I usually do, and apparently that makes a huge difference, especially in this humidity. But I managed to finish, and now it's time for a shower.

MSDave - I'm still undecided about the full, but I think I'm going to go with the no decision strategy. Since I'm already registered for the Half, if I do nothing now, the full may fill up before I decide and then I won't have to make a decision!

Happy Saturday!

I went out for an 8 mile LR this morning. My goal was to slow down my pace and run a 10 minute mile. I ended up slowing down too much and averaging 10:15. I think I'm going to have to run once a week on the track so I can work on pacing myself properly. It was pretty hot and humid; I should have gotten out earlier but couldn't drag myself out of bed sooner.

Jen - Sorry for all you're going through!
Jackie - Someday I'm going to make it out to Shelley Lake on a Saturday morning!

Happy training, all! :)

Jackie-- I ended up letting the registrations make the decision for me about doing the Mickey. When I left to go on vacation in May the Donald was nearly full and I still couldn't decide if I should do the Mickey or Donald so I didn't register before we left, so of course when I got home Donald was full only choice left was Mickey. So I know where you are coming from.

ReneeGood job on your 8 mile LR.

Beth--- Good job on the 4.5 miler on the TM. Are you still planning on the Sunday run with your sisters running group? I think it is to be cooler on Sunday. Read "The Quickie" today and it was a quickie.

Dana--- I do the TM alot and did a 14 miler before my first half in March since the streets were covered in snow. I am lucky that I am a walker and can read while doing the LW. If it wouldn't be for reading I would go insane.

Maggie-- Way to go on your 3.3 miler.

Dave--- I always hate the first 1 1/2 to 2 miles and there have been times I just want to throw in the towel before the 2 miles, but once I get past that point then it does seem to go much better. At least most days there are times the entire walk is terrible.

Kim--- I know what you mean about getting dehyrated so easily with this heat. It was a smart move to quit when you did.

Welcome Moon :cheer2:

I did 10 miles on the TM today. It was much better than my 10 miler last week. With the heat this morning there was no way I was going to attempt a LW on the trail. If I hadn't finished that book I might have kept on going for another 2 miles, but boredom did set in once I finished reading.

I'm sorry if I missed anyone.

Stay cool everyone.

Nancy

PaDisneyfan: Great job on the TM! Yeah, I figured you would finish that book pretty "Quickly".....did you like it? Great that you got your LW in, now you can go out and have a good time!

Yeah, I am still planning on running with my sister's group tomorrow, since the kids are going over there for a couple of days. I would be going over anyway, so I might as well run. I am a little worried about keeping up with them.....if they are to fast, I will fall back and be ok with that.

Everyone else seems to be getting it done....Good job!!!

Just a quick drive by - just got done with a 8.1 mile run/walk on the TM. Not as bad as the firt time I did 8 miles but hopefully I will get faster before Oct. But at least I know I am able to do 8 miles and under the time limit. This time it took me 111 minutes (just under 2 hours) I think it figures out to 13.7 per mile. I ended up walking about every half mile. Right now I am just focusing on getting the milage in. This week I almost made 20 miles - 19.8 miles. Wow I would have never thought I would be out there running let alone miles and miles!! In today's LR I know now what people are talking about when they say that after running a few miles your legs end up feeling better because about 3 miles my legs felt better and I knew I could do the milage. Oh and the best part while I was on the TM my dh made dinner!!
