Wk of July 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

FYI - The camo, zebra, and free love Gym Girls and Marathon Girls are all on sale for 50% off. WISH discount doesn't apply though. If you ordered before, careful on the sizing because to me, they now fit big. My old camo girl is an XL, but I had to exchange my zebra girl that I got a couple of weeks ago at a race expo for a L because there was such a drastic difference.

Leana- Is there a special code? Or did I just miss it? When I click on the skirts on the web site they are full price? :confused3

Morning WISH team! Yesterday was a rest day for me after my B2B runs. Better get to work. :surfweb:

Nancy&Beth: You ladies better be careful you don't get fired. First we had Nancy spending all her work time on the DIS board....now Beth is hooked.....it's a wonder anything gets done around there. :surfweb:

And are you suppose to be working also?

Uh oh, sorry Heather, there was no code, it was just marked down. I guess the sale must have finished. Sorry about that!!

Kristi trained!!! Kristi trained!!! Kristi trained!!! We should make an incentive plan for you. If you train so many miles/week, you get to go to a Goo show. Seriously, nice job on the run.
Now you are talkin'!!! :yay:
I'd be running 8 min. miles by now & looking really buff if that were the case!
:lmao:

morning team -- just wanted to report in that i got my XT workout done today! yea! i've committed myself to strength workouts 2x week until i get myself back in shape and then some. or else i'll just have to committ myself period.

i walk with my neighbor, casually, twice a week. i walk the dog and last night she kept referring to my Garmin as a 'pedometer' and mentioning that they aren't always accurate. i couldn't get through her thick skull it was GPS and very accurate for mileage!! LOL

i'm in awe of the high mileage some of you folks are logging in! WTG!

today is last day for early bird registration for the columbus ohio marathon or 1/2 marathon -- just FYI

Hi Guys.

Training was a bust for me this weekend -- and Monday. I hope to swim today. DS is well -- and has a new puppy -- a birthday present from us. The puppy is part of my lack of training. She doesn't sleep well yet and I can't let her cry alone anymore than I could ever let my kids cry alone. The problem is I can't just bring her to bed and nurse her like I did my kids :goodvibes -- it's more work sleeping on the couch with her in her crate and clicking and treating quiet behavior. Anyway, I think she is getting better and DS should be able to take over the nighttime duty soon. I can't sneak out of the house to run before everyone is up because the puppy wakes everyone up as soon as I'm out of sight. Things will level out soon I think.
My teens have agreed to dogsit while I swim with the little kids. ;)

CarrieThanks for the offer of the jpg of the shirt front. I would love to use it to make an iron on. Could you post it or send it to me PM?

Have a great day everyone.
Dona

Martha - My SIL's boyfriend told me about the ice thing too. He's from Boston and said they used to do it all the time. It was the first I had ever heard of it.

Stephanie - I couldn't even begin to imagine a night that cold with no heat. There's a reason I live in Florida!!

Mel - Sorry to hear about the tummy issues. I hope the doc gets something going that will help you.

Jackie - Poor thing. I hope she is feeling better soon. I dislocated my knee in a car accident once, and it wasn't until a couple of days later my regular doc popped it back in for me.

Renee - Your friend is in my thoughts and prayers.

Well, the AC is fixed thank goodness. I WISH I could have understood what the repair guy said was wrong with it, but to be honest I have no idea!! It looks like my September Free Dining WDW Vacation is going to have to be cancelled. Michael started Pop Warner Football last night, and it looks like we have a game every saturday from now until at least October. I was thinking that Michael could miss "A" game, but then DH went and signed up to coach and the coach definately can't miss a game. I think I am more depressed than anything. I was supposed to be paying the final payment on it on the 7th of August. I have already made all of our ADR's, and planned everything. I know I shouldn't fuss, there are plenty of people that don't get a vacation every year, and we are lucky we get to go to WDW as much as we do. I just feel kind of let down.

I didn't run today. I just wanted to enjoy the AC. I'll get out there tomorrow and get in the run I missed today. I have 6 miles planned for this weekend. I can't wait!! I need some alone time already, and the week has just started.

Dana

I feel bad about the SkirtSports sale, but I have another skirt sale for you ladies! RunningSkirts.com is having a birthday sale, so if you are interested in trying out one of their skirts, here's a good opportunity. They have orders for both the US and Canada, so if you live up north you don't have to pay extra shipping and duty.

If you like the Marathon Girl, I think you'll like this one, but I was a Gym Girl fanatic, and I think I like this one a bit better, even though it has briefs. I wore mine to the farmer's market and grocery store after my LR this weekend and didn't feel exposed at all.

Thank you, Molli! You just saved Stephen and I some $$. Hopefully once I'm officially registered, I'll start getting excited/motivated about training instead of just enduring it!

Dana--I am so glad you got your AC fixed!!! Our AC went out in early June when it was unseasonably warm for Ohio, I think we were in the mid 80's that week. That was the most miserable 2 days until someone could get out and fix it. I can't imagine dealing with FL weather without any air!! Sorry about your September trip, I would be really disappointed too. Is there a way you can still go with your youngest son?

Renee--Hey, who are you calling old!!??!! ;) Great job on your track run!! :wizard: :wizard: for your friend!!

Martha--:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Sorry you've had such a tough summer!!!!!!

WW Dave--Congrats on the raise!

SW Dave--The first pre season Steelers game is this Sunday at 8:00. I've been following their training camp on Post Gazette.com, I'm not 100% sold on Mike Tomlin yet. I can definitely tell that he is trying to prove a point, everyone is reporting this is the toughest training camp since Noll. I guess if it gets us another Super Bowl ring, all can be forgiven. :)

Mel-- I hope you start feeling better soon!!!

Carrie--I'm glad Scott is feeling better! I honestly believe that sometimes God allows little things to give us a good scare, that will save us big time further down the road! Great job on your 10K! I haven't raced since the Flying Pig in May, I'm starting to miss it!

Colleen--Have a great time in WDW!!!!! Stay cool!!

Jackie--I can understand you wanting Disney to be your 1st! You are going to be so trained, I can't wait to cheer you on!! I'm glad your daughter's arm is feeling better, sorry about the black eye!!

Stephanie--10 miles on the TM!! My limit is 8, which takes me roughly 1:30. I know when I get to the 8,9,10 mile mid week runs, they are most likely going to be on the treadmill.

Leana--More :wizard: for Maggie!! Stephen just bought me a running skirt for my birthday, I forgot to run in it on lr this past Saturday, hopefully I will remember to wear it this week! Oh, and be careful young lady on your runs!!!!

Lily--I'm glad your furbaby is feeling better!!

FL Bill--I'm glad the tick problem seems to be under control! Great job on the run, especially in that heat and humidity!!

CDC People--I am really disappointed about missing the half. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone!

I better get off here, I just didn't want to get super behind again!!!!

Thank you all so much for your support during this, um, shall we say, odd summer? And I LOVE the stories! Makes me feel that it isn't just me!! DH must feel like he cannot leave, ever, or we'd go to h**l in a handbasket. I so want him to know that we can do this. :love2:

Leana: I'm very happy to hear that the dog's owner found him! I wonder if he'd have followed you home? Honest--it just followed me home! Can we keep him? Huh, huh? Can we, can we?

Mel: ooo, yuck re: your digestive tract. :wizard: that the doc comes up with something to help.

WWDave: congratulations on the raise!! Good to hear someone is having something go right for them!!

Andrew: :thumbsup2 on the long run. It makes my 6 this weekend look paltry!

eeyore45: congrats on the run! Awesome job!

Jackie: I had 2 black eyes at the same time when I was 15. Fell, while babysitting, and hit my head on the corner of a cement step. It took weeks to go away. The whites of my eyeballs were also red. Started school with still some discoloration. I refused to allow any pictures to be taken. Now I kinda wish I had. Red (or purple) badge of courage. I hope DD gets better soon!

Kristi1357: hope you get your run in!

Cam: way to work through the migraine! A co-worker just went home with one. I really feel for someone with a migraine!

Angie: way to go on the 3 miler!!

Bill: really, I don't want DH to think we can't cope without him (although that doesn't sound as good as I mean it)! He should be able to do what he wants without worrying so much about us. So, how are the little ones doing?

HockeyChic: what kind of TM do you have?

Dona: would love to see pix of the new puppy! Sounds like a cutie.

Dana: glad to hear the AC is fixed!

I'm doing some speed work tonight but tomorrow I have to mow the yard. Then with my trainer on Thursday before heading to CO. I can't wait to be out there!!!

Erica is such a girl: Ecco Mary Jane walking shoes, Gym Girl Skirt, spagatti strap top over her sports bra. Women!

I LOVE Erica's shoes! I don't know if that was what she wore in Cincinnati but those were CUTE!

Still alive here. Cathy and I made 18 miles and amazingly felt pretty good that day and after. Tired but no lasting strains. Susan did 10 miles well, she then switched between walking and riding her bike to get in 4 more miles.

I'm still doing the gym and even stopped and picked up a new pair of shoes so I can run on the treadmill. They are Brooks and I think they are TRANCE 6??? They are white with LIME green. I'm loving them!!! Cushy :thumbsup2 If they work out they might become my marathon shoes. But for now they are in the gym for the treadmill and ellipitical work.

I'm feeling great about last week having managed to get in 30 miles for the week. Tonight's 4 miler starts the new running week and this is our short mileage Saturday week so all is good. We are fairly high on the mileage but it's every other weekend.

Check in again later. Lunch hour is nearing it's end :) Or rather MY dinner hour since I now have to eat my larger meal at lunch since I was eating all my dinners at 8 pm, not exactly helping with the weight loss by doing that.

Hi all! My training will not happen until later this afternoon (40 minutes on the bike at the Y) so I thought I'd post now before another page gets added to this thread! It is still quite humid here but not quite as hot. I'll need to have my run done and be home by 9:00 tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll beat the heat then.

On a happy note, I made our January reservations for marathon weekend at WL!

Angie - Running ANY distance in 91 degrees is pretty darn impressive to me!
Leana - Wondering if you got the ultrasound results on Maggie back yet?
Lily - I love the new red Sport Beans! Remind me of cherry life savers
Bill - Sounds like you might have stayed drier if it had been raining! I really dislike running when it's so humid.
Dave - Another victim of de heat! Just think - tomorrow it's August!
Kim - I believe that moving exercise equipment is more exercise than using exercise equipment!
Beth - 5 to 6 miles plus an hour of strength training is amazing!
Molli - I finally get it - oh(io) Mom, not oh! Mom. I'm a native buckeye!
Dona - Hope your training gets back on track and the puppy settles in!
Dana - I feel your pain, but mine is b/c of soccer!
Krista - I would never call you old b/c then I'd be ancient!
Martha - Have fun in CO!
Diane - Enjoy the new shoes! I'm loving my new Brooks!

Happy training, all! :)
Renee

Renee, don't feel bad, I've lived my entire life in Ohio, and I *just* now got the name. I thought it was oh....mom too! Where's my dunce cap???? princess:

We are not representing our home state very well, are we?

Jackie--I can understand you wanting Disney to be your 1st! You are going to be so trained, I can't wait to cheer you on!! I'm glad your daughter's arm is feeling better, sorry about the black eye!!
Apparently you're not the only one who thinks I'm ready for the full... just got back from a quick appt with my doc - he spent most of the time trying to talk me into going for the full either in Raleigh or at Disney. Said based on my mileage I'd already done the half, so I should go ahead and train for the full. What to do... what to do... I know I can switch races at the expo in Raleigh - not quite so possible at Disney, but seems really crazy to run a full first?

Martha - I've been trying to decide whether to try to get a picture of DD! Maybe if I let her read your post she'll let me do it.

Dana - Would hate for that September vacation to go to waste - I have some vacation time left over if you need company...

Cam - I'm amazed that you managed to work out with the migraine. I have to take drugs, wait it out, and then decide if the workout is possible. Once again, you're amazing!
Oh - you should appreciate this one. I get a call at lunch today from DD (second day of band camp): "Is it okay if I march the bass drum?" Mind you, she's a flute/piccolo player! Apparently they have twice as many flutes as they need and no drumline, so she's switching. :confused3

I'm waiting on the temp to drop a couple of degrees before I head out for a run. Got home earlier than usual after the trip to the doc, so I'm spending time with my WISH buddies while waiting for cooler weather!

Jackie

I haven't raced since the Flying Pig in May, I'm starting to miss it!
Krista- Whaaa?!?? Man, I need to get on the PostGazette too. I had no idea that the first pre-season game was this Sunday. The Bills just started camp last week. I haven't really raced since the Flying Pig either (except for the 5K I ran with my Princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:). I'm getting an itch to run something too.

Martha: I have a Horizon T74 Premium Series, I don't use it to its full capacity but I really like it.
