Wk of July 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

Gotta love 22 year olds now. Manually lift a garage door? Never seen it, never done it, no idea. Dial a rotary phone? Are you kidding me? Adjust the antannae so you get better reception? That's so 1960's.

I hear ya. When I try to explain to my children how tough I had it as a kid, having to do things like walk across the plushly carpetted floor and change the channel on the TV by hand to get one of the 5 stations we could receive, they look at me like I have three heads.:confused3

Steve

Do you and Krista have your reservation booked for January? If you're not there I'll be very disappointed.

Best
Craig

I'll answer for Stephen since his presence on here is sporadic at best. :) We are officially at WDW in January. We booked our room a couple of weeks ago (Pop for marathon weekend and SSR for the week after) and Stephen signed up for the marathon on Monday. I'm doing the scream team thing this year since I'm running Columbus in October, 2 marathons 12 weeks apart is a little much for me to handle.

It sounds like you are having a blast in CO. Are you sure you are really out there for work? ;) I hope you get to feeling better soon, have a great time with Martha this weekend!!

Oh, and on the whole garage door thing, our sensor is messed up on our garage door and for the past 2 mornings, it hasn't closed when I left for work. I am proud to say, I knew how to pull the cord and lower the garage door. I even know how to reset the door. But I must admit, I have a hard time reaching the bottom of the door to give it a good tug. :)

Can't wait to see you and Martha in October!!!!

nepatsfan73: :lmao: :rotfl: I bet it was uphill both ways from the chair to the tv back to the chair!

calcio: see? It could be worse. DD could have been the one to hit the pole! Get better please...I do NOT want to get what you have!

Time to mow the yard. Whimper, whimper.

Update on my friend's DH brain surgery -- all went well and they were able to remove the entire tumor. He is already complaining to his DW about his headache, so we know he's getting back to normal! Now it's just a wait on the pathology to confirm that it was not cancerous. Thanks for all the PD!

Anne - pixiedust: that the cortisone shot works magic. It did wonders for my PF for a few weeks, then it wore off... I feel confident that you'll finish CDC.

Renee - GREAT news!

Mel - Very jealous that your DD's band is doing the pirate show. Ours is "The Speed of Sound," pulled together at the last minute when our band director resigned the last day of school and we had to hire a new one with only a few weeks before band camp opened!

Leana - More pixiedust: for Maggie!

Jeanne
- I registered for the Donald months ago. Now I'm almost wishing I hadn't (so I could register for the Full), but I think I'll stick with the Half for Disney mostly because I have to get back Sunday afternoon so DD can start exams on Monday. It will be easier to run on Saturday, cheer on Sunday, and then fly back than it would to run Sunday and rush to get home. Now get out there and train!

Judy - Go swim! I'm envious - the one city pool that's two blocks from my house is closed for construction this summer.

Megan - Extra pixiedust: for your pup. Hope you feel better soon too!

Martha/Krista - You guys are cracking me up with the garage door issues. I work for a garage door company, and we just roll our eyes at the calls from people who can't figure out how to open their doors when there's no power. Of course, I have no garage, so I have NO sympathy with them!

Did my upper body weight workout this morning - and my 110 crunches too!

Jackie

I cannot sympathise with the manual garage door thing, as I would be happy to even have a garage!

Total :moped:

IT'S A MIRACLE!!!!

I just got back from 3 miles on the track at the YMCA!
I did walk4/run1 (rather than my usual 3/1) and I was still in the low 12 min. miles!

Now to keep it up so I can earn more Goo concerts like Dave said!
(I am working on Chad to go to their annual NYE show in Vegas or LA)

Hey all! I'm on my way out. Really, Dave made me do it. So hot here but Arrrr, I'm doing it. (See the pirate post thread) :lmao:

Craig, get well. You can't be sick! That is not not to be happening. Martha is on her way. She can't have you sick.

Sorry to all for puppy issues. I bathed ours today and then tossed them in the 90 degree heat outside to air-dry.

Lisa, glad to have you back!

Judy, WISHing you got in a good swim.

Anne, WISHing your cortisone to do the trick and your week off will too.

Dona, have you registered for any resort? As said, maybe you want to do that so you at least have something.

Ok--I'm on my way. Later Team...

Total :drive: post. Sorry guys! Hope to catch up tomorrow.

60 minutes TM -- 4.2 miles (448 calories); all w4(4.0)/r1(5.0)

Glad your friends dh is ok. I will keep them in my prayers that its not cancerous. What a scary thing.0

No training to report today. I have been in a  mood lately so hopefully I will feel up to my outside run tomorrow am.

Good Evening Team :wave2:

Two days away ( I have been reading) and I just can't possibly catch up so I will start on page 10!!

Martha Mowing is DEFINATELY XT!! Have fun with your trainer.
HMHunters Glad to hear things went well for your friend and it reminds me to stop wining about my back. Some things put everything into perspective don't they? :confused3
Jackie 110 CRUNCHES!!!  If I did that my core would be strong in no time.
Kristi  :cheer2: :cheer2: ON the workout and the pace !!!
Cam AWESOME workout :dance3:
Tricia I hate it when I feel like that, I hope your run goes well tomorrow

I took the last two days off but I did 5 miles tonight and it was near 90 degrees once again when I ran past the middle school - at almost 8 o'clock at night :scared1: But it was the strongest run I have had YET!! We had storms really bad all day and the whole time I was running all I could think about was Mel's post a week or so a go about the humidity being so thick she felt like she could SCOOP up the air. The marathon at Disney HAD NOTHING on the way it felt tonight. Considering all that I feel pretty good about the run. Also -- Bobby did 2 TONIGHT :yay: GO BOBBY!!

I still have not decided between 1/2 or full for January - as I said before, we run for a charity so I (unfortunately) have time to sign up. You guys are freaking me out about the hotel reservations, but we also get a pretty good deal on the rooms through the charity, so I should be ok.

Have a good night everyone.

angie

Oh you guys are a riot!!!!! Martha's report on the garage door was priceless! Glad to hear your theory worked :cool1:

Craig - Sending tons of :wizard: your way that it was just a little bug that will be long gone by the morning.

BTW - That's so cool that your teaching a summer MBA course:thumbsup2 I have found all of my MBA professors to be so full of experience and knowledge. With only 4 quick weeks to go until I complete my degree I feel extremely blessed to have been part of the program :goodvibes Course I can't wait till the end of August, the end of a very long road :cool1:

Just stopping by to see if we have any WISH members in the Minn/St.Paul area. If you do live in that area, please check in!:grouphug:

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

OK, I forgot to reset my alarm after getting up at 5am yesterday for my morning run. Whoops, so I was up at 5am again today. I didn't run this morning because I'm scheduled to run a 5K x-country race tonight at 7pm. This is a series of races every Thursday evening in August. I did them last year, and they were fun. It's a nice way to break up the training routine. Last year my princesses, DD6 pooh: and DD9 princess:, ran the kids races, and are planning on doing it this evening too. I'm a little worried about today's run because it's supposed to be record highs over 90 degrees and humid. I haven't been doing well running in the heat lately, and I don't know if I want the girls to run in this heat too (especially because they'll be at gymanstics camp all day too). We'll see how it goes later on today.

My heart goes out to everyone in the Minn/St Paul area. I hope everyone is safe.

Craig- Sorry to hear about your bug that you caught. Hope you're feeling better. Did you make it to the track meet, or was that tonight?

Steve- You were asking about my new siggy pic. WWDave found it for me, and Sunny modified it with my name on it. Aren't they great?

Renee- Great job on your run. You must have really been in the zone if you ran extra. I WISH your friend all the best for DH's surgery. I'm glad they were able to get all the tumor out.

Judy- Hope you're healing up OK. Did you use the pool yet? It would be a great way to break the heat.

Hello Anne- I'm WISHing you all the best that you can get to the starting line of CDC.

Megan- I'm sorry to hear that your dog is not well. I WISH you (and your companion) all the best.

Dona- How'd your walk go?

Cam- Are you and Howard heading up to the Adirondacks? Have fun? You're closer to my neck of the woods now (although I'm still pretty far from there). You are close to Sara though. Awesome job on the TM for 60 min. WTG!!!

Krista- I didn't know that you will just be doing the Scream Team thing for the WDW Marathon. Maybe, hopefully, you'll have another reason to be on the sidelines too. ;)

Jackie- Great job on your 110 crunches, wow! I was thinking about your marathon dilema. So I bet you could call WDW Sports and switch your half marathon registration to the full marathon since the full has not filled up yet. If you wanted to run the full at Disney (instead of Raliegh).

Go Kristi :cheer2: , Go Kristi :cheer2: , Go Kristi :cheer2: - WTG on your 3 miles yesterday. That's awesome! Keep it up and you'll get some Goo on you.

Lily- I hope your run in the heat went well.

Tricia- I hope your bad mood has gone away.

Angie- Great job on your 5 miler in 90 degree heat. WTG!!! How's your back feeling?

Hi Carrie

OK, time for me to get ready for work.

Good morning Team!!!!!

Thoughts and Prayers to teamates in the Minn area. What a terrible accident. :grouphug:

Did anyone get a email regarding the marathon yesterday???? Mike got one but I didn't:confused3

Kim

Good morning,

Did 3 miles this am. Felt good. It is already to warm out though.

Time to make bfast for the kiddos.
Maggie

Morning team. I'm dragging this morning--everytime I work an evening shift I remember why I don't work full-time out of the house. 7 miles on the TM scheduled for this am. The air quality is poor here for the next couple days, so they're suggesting people to stay inside as much as possible--that and it will be around 100 today. This weekend's LR has me worried though--Sat. and Sunday are supposed to be the hottest days yet, with a low of around 76. How is that considered a low? I can't fathom doing 15 miles on the TM, but with that heat I might have too.

DaveSW--good luck tonight with the race. I've always wanted to try some x-country. Good luck to the DDs as well. Meant to mention that LR Marathon does the kids marathon as well. It's called the Little Rockers. It was really neat to see, they ran after the marathon. But as well as the running the kids have to read 26 books and a couple other 26s. Good luck to the girls with the training!

Craig--take care of yourself! Yes, it's easy to say, Don't push it too hard, Don't increase you mileage too much too fast to others who will listen. To get ourselves to listen is a whole other ballgame! Lots of luck with the track race.

Kristi--WooHoo on the training! You go girl!

Okay, gotta go--kidlets found me!

Sending prayers to all those in the Minn area. What a terrible accident.

It is suppose to get more hot and humid the next couple of days, though it has been in the 90's all week already. So have to continue to do all inside training. I had been lucky that the majority of the Sat that I have done my LW on the rail trail the weather has not been much of an issue. But this Sat I don't see that walking outside is going to happen. So I will be bringing a new book to read while doing the TM for a couple of hours to get in my miles.

Is there any cool spots in the US? From the weather channel it looks like everyone is having a heat wave.

Stay cool everyone.

Nancy

Morning WISH Team!

I made it for a 2 mile walk-no wogging last night. I left, had to go to the library then off I went. Get this--it was 85 at dusk and oh so humid. I deliberately did not dress for running, just had my "street clothes" (cotton :scared1: ) shorts/t-shirt. Anne called me and we walked 1.5 miles together. Thanks Anne! Isn't WISH great, we're never alone. By the time I was finished and back at my car it was dark. Oh, and I did a 16:42 pace. See, I told you it was a walk for me. I put in the steps withinin qualifying time for CDC.

SWDave, if you do go tonight have fun but ya gotta take it slow in this heat. If princesses go, I'm sure they can manage if they take it slow too. Good luck tonight. Drink plenty of water today.

Stephanie, sorry you're dragging today. Shift work will do that to you for sure. I don't know what I'd think worse going out really really early a.m. with a 76 low for 15 miles or TM. Somehow though I think I'd opt for the outside at dawn even for part of the LR. I'll be thinking of you for sure.

Nancy, same as I said to Stephanie, I still can't see making the TM yet. I'll be so stuck on that in December I don't want to get an early start if there is any way at all to get out in this.

i don't have time to read everyone's post just wanted to send good mojo and PD for everyone on their LW/LR this weekend -- it's darn HOT! take care of yourself

i got my interval powerwalk accomplished today -- i have a 5 miler scheduled for sat. i'm off to visit my folks........i may pop in but more than likely i'll be back sunday/monday

have a GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

DaveSW--good luck tonight with the race. I've always wanted to try some x-country. Good luck to the DDs as well. Meant to mention that LR Marathon does the kids marathon as well. Oh, I like the idea of kids having to read 26 books, etc. Thanks everyone for the good WISHes for the x-country race tonight. I was talking to DW this morning about it, and she thinks I'm crazy for even considering running in this heat. The more I think about it, the more I think she may be right. I may end up passing on the x-country race tonight, and get 5 miles in tomorrow morning before it gets hot. We'll see how it is at the end of the day. I asked the kiddos if they would mind if we did not run the races tonight because it's too hot. DD9 princess: said right away "That's Ok, I'm fine not running." DD6 pooh: kind of got a sad face and said "I was really looking forward to running in the races." We'll see how she feels when she gets home from gymnastics.
