Wk of July 29--WISH Walking/Running Club

I wish I knew princessmomma. We've been to BCV numerous times and I swear we keep ending up with the same view - service road. :sad2:

Why not request the quiet pool view?

Wish I had points to rent, but we're typically half a year borrowed out! :lmao:

Have you tried looking over at the DVC rent board?

Good luck! :wizard:

Colleen...which conference is your DH speaking at? I'm going to be at WDW for the FSHP conference at Coronado next weekend, Fri through Sun.

Hey all... just a quick report because I am still working. I got up at the crack of dawn this morning to get in my 10 miles. I did it, but slowly and my foot is a bit sore. But I did it. Unfortunately I decided to take a different route, which was hilly, so I got in a LR and hill training all in one run. OK, it just clicked, I was upset that I was slow, but with hills it is understandable for me.

SWDAVE - oh yah baby... the Rump Roast Run was AWESOME. And the scenery was so nice. I am planning to do it again, maybe with DH. If his knee heals and allows him, I may walk it with him. So no PR, but a great t-shirt!!!!! And man, you should see the size of those rump roasts they give away!!!

Cam - Welcome back!

Colleen - I am jealous that you get a last minute trip. I am not sure why rooms are booked up. We are going in a couple weeks and I didn't think they were that packed. Free Dining doesn't start until the last week of August. We miss it by a week.

Congrats to everyone's long runs this weekend. Be Proud!

Hello WISH Teammates!

I wanted to post my training information and to let everyone I've (mostly) caught up on the posts since we left for our vacation.

Kathy ~ Thanks for posting the photo of Lynne. She is forever a friend and running partner of mine. I can't speak highly enough of her. She is a wonderful person and I am endebted to her for her companionship and friendship during the Goofy last year. Since she is now 21, tell her I'm buying the next round (post Marathon '08).

Colleen ~ I'll let Cam respond to the BCV question. We've had good and not so good views there (our home resort). However, when you come down to it, looking at a service road in WDW is better than looking at Stone Crop Road (the road we live on).

Here is my training information:

4.3 miles at POFQ/POR on Saturday, July 21.
6.1 miles at Bellevue State Park on Friday, July 27.
6.43 miles at Bellevue State Park on Saturday, July 28.

It is good to be back, however the realization that the CDC is coming up is haunting me. I need to get some productive LR's in soon leading up to the event. I am afraid my energy and metabolism are not quite where I'd like them to be. I am working hard though and hope to finish the CDC around 2:15 - 2:30.

I'll keep everyone updated as the training progresses up to the CDC and beyond.

Happy training!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - it was Erin who turned 21. Lynne has a few years on erin.

Well there was no long run this weekend. With all the dog problems everyone has been having, ours felt the need to act up as well. We found a couple of ticks on him thursday and then after a big bath on Friday we found a bunch more. So this weekend has entailed cleaning everything and spraying the house. This morning I was sorer than I am after running so apparently I got a little excercise in. Our dog is not happy with us right now but I guess that will pass in time. Then by the time I could run, the thunderstorms popped up and lasted too long. It is getting hard to run around here at night.

Cam and Howard - Glad you had a good trip. A big congrats on actually training while at Disney and on the cruise. I have yet to get the motivation to do that myself.

Jen - Great job on getting the run in. Hopefully you don't have to work too long today.

Colleen - That is a great job on the 14 miles. What a great surprise to get, a week at Disney. We don't have any suggestions though. We would probably take any view we could get. It is probably possible for a DVC member to rent at a reduced rate but the member would probably have to be listed as staying there. I'm not sure if they would be the ones who would have to check in though. Each party would have to trust everyone to make sure everything worked out ok.

Shan - Great job on getting out for the run. That is a great pace to keep.

Sandy - Congrats on finishing your 5k.

Dana - That is a great job on your 5 miles. Those times are great.

Kathy - Thanks for the picture. I don't know if I want to do one now, knowing how they have to prepare. :lmao: It must just be tough to have to go to Hawaii for a month.

Andrew - Enjoy your day off. It is well deserved between races and lrs.

Vic - Good to see you again. Glad the bites are healing nicely and that you are able to start a little running again.

Kristi - Are you sure you just aren't trying to dream in the picture. :rolleyes1 Sounds like you had lots of fun last week.

MSDave - Great job getting out for your run. The negative splits are awesome. Good luck with your decision about the marathon. We would love to see you there but also understand the problems with coming.

Heather - Good luck with your Goofy training this week.

WWDave - Great job beating the pace car this year.

Mel - Great job with the run. Congrats on the sub-12's as well. Bagel or chocolate...I think chocolate would win for me.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Bill

Geez, already on pg. 2 and it's only Sunday afternoon! We're back from our weekend jaunt in the Ozarks. It was a fun family time away--no run to report from me. The terrain was just too hilly for me, and I relished the idea of having a Sunday morning to sleep in. No time to do a proper catch up now--awaiting our DVC guide to call us back--gotta feed my addiction with more pts! Will try to get my 10 miler in tomorrow--I'll scrap my xt day to get the LR in. Have a great end to the weekend all!

Ok so I was able to get on the treadmill and managed to walk 6 miles in 1.30 (I know not quick but I think that just beats the sweapers and I didn't really run since I wanted to take it easy) My foot started rubbing funny on the side of my heel but I kept on going. Then my treadmill went crazy when I tried increasing the speed a tad - it went all the way up to 12 mph and would not stop even after I hit stop numerous times - the only thing that stopped it was to pull the key and shut the thing down. Luckly I was able to jump on the sidewalls before it went up to 12 mph or that would have been disasterous!! So my time and everything was gone so I decided to be done. I am happy at least got 6 miles in and burned over 600 calories to boot!!

I got my final results from the race - 34:46 - exactly 2 minutes quicker than the race a month ago. YEAH

Renee You should definately sign up for another 5k - its great motivation and fun and short enough but still long enough!!

Cam & Howard Glad you had a great vacation and I am impressed that you got training in while on vacation. That was one of the reason's I quit running last year - went to Disney and then when I got home it was "too hot"

Colleen How exciting to be taking a last minute trip to WDW! Have fun!!

Sandy Congrats on your first 5k. Think seriously about doing another 5k in Aug to get the race experience in before doing the Half at Disney. My dh doesn't see the need to enter races when as he says "you can run 3 miles at home, why do we have to come here" I tell him its for the experience. And I think that experience will help me when it comes to the TOT13k. Whatever you decide congrats on the 5k and good luck in the Donald.

Vic Ouch on the dog bite - hope it heals quickly and glad you were able to at least get some running in.

I wanted to share with everyone views of our running path at Port Orleans Resort last Saturday. As you can imagine, it wouldn't have been hard to persuade myself to go running pretty frequently if we were at the resort for a longer stay:

And the somewhat disorienting view from the elliptical trainer the same morning:

Just had to share a picture of myself with my "boyfriend" -- eat your heart out Kristi! :lmao:

But this is the guy who owns my heart and soul:

Great news!

I finally went out with DH to a track and recalibrated my Nike+. I went around one time and it showed .22 miles. So I calibrated it both walking and running and tried it out again twice and both times it was perfect - .25 miles!

Sooo, it was showing my pace as slower than I was really going! :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:

I can't wait to go out for my next run to see if there is any difference.

Also, I cruised on that track! Wow! When I was running my pace was around 8:28. I need to go out there more often.

Hey ladies and gentlemen! I have to report a terrible 10 mile run today.....was to be 14 miles, but I just couldn't do it. I pushed myself to keep going but I just didn't feel good! I couldn't keep going.....I am lucky to get 10 miles in, and I walked alot at the end.

I want to up the mileage, but I just can't seem to get there.....oh well, I will continue trying!

Chimera: thanks for the welcome, and congrats on your 8.2 mile run!

Beth

Beth Just wanted to encourage you and say, I have been there more times than I can count :confused3 Just keep pushing:cheer2:

As for me going through a rough couple of days with my back. I'm about to go out and get in 3, my back is still WAY to sore to start any significant long runs but after this evening I will have 19 mile for the week, so that's not so bad!!

Have a good evening everyone!

angie

evening team

Thanks for reading, I wish I could have just posted the picks and not the links but I haven't figured out how yet.

Dave:hippie:

Kathy ~ Thank you, I stand corrected. :thumbsup2

I must have simply glossed right over Erin's name. The offer stands, I'll buy HER a drink (if she wants one) post Marathon '08 if she is there.

Please give Erin and Lynne my very best regards.

Dave:hippie:
Dave, all ya need to do is edit your post and put in IMG wherever the URL is (beginning and ending of the link). For future, when you post in the link click on the one in the bar that looks like a mountain and paste your link info there. It basically fits the URL info around the link for you. hth--Great pics btw.

I've updated The WISH Team Calendar. Go check. Also I've got a question up there about Philadelphia for whomever can answer.

My doggie is doing much better today. After coming home yesterday from our bike ride DSs say our other doggie may have been stung. Well, he seems much better today. Whew!

Today I got in my 8 miles. Way hot almost, not quite, but almost January '07 hot. My pace turned out to be 16:29. I walked with DH for the first 2 of his 4 miles. He is amazed that he did 4 miles today! He is not hurting and all is right in his world. Pace for him was 18:27. He then went to bike for 6 miles while I finished the rest of my journey. Did I mention it was hot? Wow, it was hot.

Mel, glad you've got things feeling better in your treks.

SWDave, yes you will feel better for sure to let DW in on all. Hope it works out, but whatever it is you know it will be good. Still WISHing it goes ok.

Beth, sorry about the stonker. It will get better. It will!

Molli, yeah it is common for Garmin to whack out at times. Mine takes a bit to get things figured, it does get finicky if I turn around and cover ground I've just done, but eventually it does come together. I still LOVE my Garmin!
Angie, PD that your back gets better. It's time already!

Shan, good for you and the Nike+. I have one I play with on and off. I cannot get it to calibrate well enough for my liking. I must have a difficult gait for it to measure properly. I don't think it likes my wogging. I've got to try to recalibrate--again.

Tricia, Whoa on your TM issue. That sounds scary that it would do that. Congrats though that you managed it well and your race time improvement!

Bill, sorry that you had critter XT. Hope all is under control now.

Jen, WISH that your foot problem clears real soon.

Sorry to those I've missed. Going to get ready for bed now...folding towels too.
:laundy:

Good night WISH team. I got in my 4 miles on the TM at the fitness center tonight. I couldn't go out until after dark so played it safe inside. Way to go everyone who got in their steps this weekend!

I am sorry team, I am so far behind....boy you don't post one day and whew....some reading to do today.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, great workouts, no injuries and just had a great weekend!!!!!

Kim

Hey everyone.....Looks like everyone is doing well! I hope things improve for me this week....can't get any worse!

Dave: Great pictures! And great time for the 5 K too!

Tiger Lily: I am glad the doggie is doing better and good job on the 8 miles!

HockeyChic: I know about getting behind on reading, especially here with so many people posting! At least it gives you something to read!

Beth
