Wk of July 22--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hey all. Major WTO and LTO all in one bundle. I can barely keep my head above the water!!! Last night at 8:45 I got out and did a 2 mile run with Sadie. It was turning dark, so I had to be quick. And it was so humid that I was dripping when I was done. Today I plan to hit the gym at lunch for a quick workout. I really hate that my workout and runs are so short, but I guess that is better than nothing at all. I just worry that I am not meeting my training requirements.

Judy - I hope your pains get better soon. As for swimming... are you sure you want to tackle that after falling out of the boat???

Dana - :grouphug: I am glad that confessing your lack of running is making you feel better!!! Never doubt yourself!

Welcome back to all returning vacationers.

OK, I have to skidaddle. Like I said, work is NUTS!

Ok Jen you have all the bad luck out of the way so now it's time for the good luck.

News Flash!!! "Judy, first human ever attacked and maulled by Blue Gills. In a desterate fight for life our Brave Queen:snooty: , fought of the attacking hords of pan fish using her water noodle with deadly effect."

Ok time to wake Erica so we can get our walk in. She stayed up to the wee hours to finish the HP book.

Y'all have an awesome day.

Dave:hippie:

Hi All!

Did 1/2 hour elliptical last night and got out for a 1/2 mile walk today (Geez, it sounds so puny!). Actually, I had to take my car to the shop to get it checked out before my vacation drive. I walked home from the shop, which is about a 1/2 mile from my house. But I did it in 8:02, just about Disney time!

BTW, anyone have problems with their Garmin not picking up the signal? Sunday, I was 3/4 of the way around the track before any distance showed up and today, it never found the satellite. I'm talking about being in wide open spaces, not in the woods. It's very frustrating.

Terri

Hi TEAM,

Thanks again for all the good wishes yesterday. I slept all day post procedure. Not sure if it was the post anesthesia or the vicoden. Feeling better today, but think I will skip yoga tonight and just take it easy. Since I have a babysitter to help with the kiddos, this should give me plenty of time to get through harry potter. :)

Dana, words cannot describe the ache you must feel.  As a parent my heart aches for you. May good memories continue to fill you life. You are not a slacker!

Angie, wtg on your race! You did great. You should be proud of yourself.

Angietuck, I would never have taken you for a quitter. Your excitement and strength seem to jump out of your posts.

WWdave, thanks for the encouragement and kind words.

Smileywalker, welcome!!

I am hoping to get out for a short walk tomorrow if I am feeling up to it. The weather here is gorgeous and I would hate to miss it.

Take care,
Maggie

We bought a lottery ticket, (yes only one) the way my luck is going I figured it couldn't hurt. The drawing is on Wed night.

That puts you one up on me;) :wizard: that it's the million dollar ticket!

Sunny- if you liked Hitchhiker's Guide (and yes, I laughed about the towel), then you'd probably like HP. I liked both, and I have fairly eclectic taste in reading.

I read the first book and loved it. I just keep putting it off and the books pile up!!!

Just a quick drive by to say hello to the WISH team. I have been swimming but no serious training to speak of. DH is having shoulder and forearm problems, likely a torn rotator cuff.

Heather-- I'm so sorry to hear about DH.:wizard: for quick recovery.

Just back from vacation and guess what happens.... my DF was cut from his job It wasn't the vacation as he didn't go (doesn't do theme parks) but a deep cut that occured.

:wizard: Minnie:hug: I'm so sorry. I hope DH finds a job ASAP:wizard:

Sunny, how have you been? Have you had your treatment thingy yet? Like my medical lingo?

Colleen-- you missed my post about the wire scraping up and down my spine for 5 hours!!!! OK, "scraping" is a bit of an exageration-- but not much! The important part is the spinal cord stimulator appears to be a great solution to my pain problem. I go for a "test drive" on the right side onAug 16th, then I'll schedule the permanent SCS ASAP.

Sunny - It's so wonderful to "hear" you sounding so upbeat! And I completely missed the towel reference, even though I love the Hitchhiker books.

Here ya go, Jackie: Don't panic

Angie(tuck)-- I'm so sorry to hear of DS's ankle problems. I hope the podiatrist has a solution. It must be so hard to watch him struggle.

MelR:yay: :dance3: So glad to see you!

Wow, back-to-back posts from MelR and Helen-- reminds me of the old days:cloud9:

Hi, Dave!

Billy is doing better and I have been told that I am not the parent he likes when he is sick. Momma is much better. I will gladly give her that status but I don't think she is too happy with it.

That's too cute! Lucky Lynda! At least you tried;)

OK, if I hit "send" right now I'll be caught up!:rotfl:

Nothing to report in the way of training.

Hey, I hit Send and I got the "too many smilies" reprimand. I haven't gotten that in years! HA!

I just checked the website today and saw the marathon is at 85% registration capacity. I need to talk to DW seriously about whether I should register for this or not.

From the website:
The WALT DISNEY WORLD® Marathon is currently at 85% of the registration capacity.

Hi folks! Went out for a 5 miler last night. I finished in 57:35 for an 11:31/mi pace. I opted to try a new route out and it was beatiful! Amazing views, some great hills. Lots of fun. I waited till 8:30 to run and it was still 86 degrees out (not that I should be complaining, but trust me....that is HOT for here). Luckily the route was pretty well shaded and there was a nice breeze blowing. Tonight is boot camp and luckily the temps are supposed to be cooler, but we have chances of thunderstorms. If those materialize then boot camp is cancelled.:sad1:

Dana - :grouphug: for you.

BTW - Christa and Stephanie - I now know why you guys like the Marathon Girl so much! I finally took mine out for a spin, and while I wish it was a bit longer, it sure was breezy! That was a nice feature on a hot night.

DAVE - THANK YOU for the update. I was waiting for the magic number. I plan to register today if I get a chance. DH says he will remind me 100 times until I do.

I can't believe I am doing a FULL marathon. Work promises to work around my schedule to let me do it. January is a very busy travel time for me at work. I may be flying to Orlando from a convention in San Diego. Think of all the frequent flyer miles I will get!!

WW Dave - Yes, I am the queen of bad luck. I just know one day it will turn for me. Maybe I need to hang out with you. Maybe then I can get some if those extra good luck vibes that have no room in your body!

Gee, I really WISH I was training so I could post something significant instead of mucking up the thread with non-training issues. :rolleyes2

Minnie - Oh no!! Beep Beep Beep! That's a BIG OL' TRUCKLOAD of :wizard: backing up to your DH!

WWDave - I think there are many, many things that can't be explained. Being the fairly educated adult that I am. I just accept that fact. :upsidedow Thanks for bestowing upon me the Bluegill honor, but I was only getting into the rowboat and fell into about three feet of silty mucky pond water. Once I scrambled out it was actually pretty funny. :lmao:

Mellody - :welcome: Most excellent screen name!

Monica - Yes, we are at POFQ for that week. :yay:

Oh Angie - Poor Seth! Oh my, but that is a lot for a little one to have to deal with. However, if it gets fixed now, he'll be all set when he's older, right? MAJOR :wizard: for little Seth!

Hey! There's Melissa! :wave2: YAY! :yay:

Helen - Why don't you write about a night in Cinderella Castle while you are here? :rolleyes1

MSDave
- Glad I could be of service! :thumbsup2 Hey, since I can't train, I might as well be useful and kick some booty around here. At least I can still kick it with my good foot! Hey umm, Dave? REGISTER will ya?? :rolleyes1

Bill - Thanks for the encouraging words.:goodvibes I can't wait to get back to training and get out of the mummy outfit! Hey! hey! Maybe that's what I could be for the ToT run! I've got most of the costume anyway! :rotfl2:

Jen - Oh geez, ha ha ha! :lmao: You had to mention that, didn't you? Shhhhhhhh! HA HA HA!

Ah Christa...there you are. I haven't seen you in awhile...glad to hear all is well.:goodvibes

Dana - All I can say is sorry. I am praying for you. And IMO you are one of the strongest people I know!:grouphug: Hang in there!

Life is crazy...as always, but still biking around 60 miles a week and running around 30 miles a week.

Only skimmed so sorry I missed people!

 Thanks Dave, but this is filling too quickly! I am not ready to register yet!

Sunny, yes, I did miss your post on the scraping:scared1: , but it sounds like it is working with the great result on your last run. :wizard:

Jen, you can absolutely do the full. I will see you at the finish line!

Hi Angie, sorry to hear about DS's ankle trouble. Hope DH is doing better.

Melissa, oh, I should find that tune. I have a song on my MP3 player called Running back to Saskatoon by a Canadian band called The Guess Who. It makes me smile everytime I hear it.

Bill, good pace on your run!:thumbsup2 Say hi to Lynnda and the boys for me! If Lynnda has time, ask her to pop in and say hi. I miss her!

Maggie, I am happy to hear you are feeling better. Get lots of rest.

Terri, your workouts are not puny! Remember what you have been through in the last few months.:goodvibes

MSDave, hey, not to worry about your down week from running. Those are needed once in a while, before long you will be back even stronger.:thumbsup2

Hey Judy and Monica, good to hear from you both!

Today is cross training day for me. The kids have playdates this afternoon, so I am good to go for a 45 stairclimber workout today at the gym!:cheer2:

Colleen

Looking for suggestions -

What to take on the 5K...

I figure it will take me every bit of 50 minutes - Do I need a visor? towel? (how do you handle the perspiration?)

Judy - Are you staying at POFQ for Marathon Weekend???? I AM TOO! I promise to give you a silly wave every time I see you. This will be our first time at that resort, so I am quite excited.

Colleen - Are you for sure doing WDW? I knew you were on the ledge. You are a silly girl. I remember you wanted to run with me for the 1/2... you are so fast compared to me. But I really do hope there will be people at the finish with I come staggering in!!!

OK, I really have a lot of work to do today... but I just miss this board so much lately!!!!

Just wondering...

did anyone else get a response from PI?

Hey all. My pesky summer cold is driving me crazy--have to head to the pharmacy tonight and get some Claritin D. I was debating whether or not to run this morning, but somewhere I remember reading if it's just a cold, training is okay. So, I went, did my 3 miles and some weights. Now I just feel like being lazy--unfortunately, my kitchen painting project is still only 1/2 done. I need to get going on it.

MelR--glad to hear that you had a wonderful vacation. My mom's family had a family reunion at Estes Park not too long ago. They had a wonderful time! Sounds like you guys did too. Oh, I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but I got my dad a gift card to Lewis and Clark for Father's day and he went in to use it a week or so ago. He was really impressed with the bike dept--He said that the people who worked there really knew a lot about biking b/c at least 3 different people asked about his socks (Spongebob cycling socks) He ended up buying some new tires for one of his bikes, and he was also impressed that the guy offered to put them on at no charge.

Terri--Sounds like you'll be in MelR's neck of the woods. Have a great trip!

Angietuck--PD for your baby!:wizard: Poor thing--must be awful for him. Congrats on your run and for Bobby going with you for part of the way--I know we'll be seeing you in January!

Jen--I'm hoping to stay around at the finish of the full for as long as my babysitter will allow--in any case, I'll head back to BC and cheer my WISH teammates on from there!

Craig--okay, okay, the next time I'm at the running store I'll check out the local running groups. I need to go and get some new shoes to break in anyway.

Well, I better go and start some more painting--ugh! Have a great afternoon all!

Judy - Are you staying at POFQ for Marathon Weekend???? I AM TOO! I promise to give you a silly wave every time I see you. This will be our first time at that resort, so I am quite excited.

It will be our first time too! We stayed at POR for the first time for the Half this year and we took the carriage ride over to POFQ and loved it! I've read mixed reviews but since my goal is to stay at every resort at WDW, it's next on my list.

Did I give you my cell number in January? if not, I'll PM it to you so we can be in touch.

We are at POR again for ToT.

Quick drive by then off to bed - work tonight....
Dana - Prayers, pixie dust, and major :grouphug: :grouphug: to help you through this heartwrenching and difficult time.

Day off of training yesterday, but worked. Did 42 min (4run/2walk) and my legs felt like cement. It was a stonker. Better luck tomorrow.

Happy Training!

Melissa

You biked 20 miles up Trail Ridge, all over above timberline, and then back down?

WOW! You are a better man than I, Gunga Din. That is really impressive. When you are going up those mountains you wonder is it worth it when you get up to the top. And when you get there, the answer is "yes, it was worth it."

I hope your trip was enjoyable. Estes Park must have been a pleasant break from the heat and humidity of Arkansas.

Bill

You sir are a genius. You love and care for Timmy, but when he's feeling poorly you've managed to impress upon him that Lynne is a superior health care provider. The genius of being Dad.

Best to all

Craig

This is a drive-by. I have been very busy at work, no time to "talk", just wanted to say :wave2: to everyone.

Mellody--:welcome:

Dana--

Angie - So sorry to hear about your little one. I hope everything turns out well. Poor baby!!

MSDave - I registered as soon as it got to 80%. I think there were quite a few people like us that have been holding out for that 80-85% and it is just going to start filling up faster and faster.

Well.... I got a 30min work out yesterday with my Bikini Body Bootcamp DVD's. I love the workouts but OOOWWW!! Then this morning Michael and I went for our run. He ran 1 mile in 12:37!! He was so happy to have been able to break a 14:00 mile. Then I ran 3 miles in 25:00. My Mom came out and ran with us today, so she took the boys in the jogging stroller while I ran my 3 miles. I definately have to say that I feel much better after a few days of excersizing again. Much better than I felt those 2 weeks of doing nothing.

Thanks again everyone for the hugs.

Dana
