Wk of July 15--WISH Walking/Running Club

"There's a great big beautiful tommorrow..."

YAY I got a Cortisone Cocktail! :woohoo: Good-bye Sinus Tarsi!

I feel human again!

It's a new day. :cheer2:

The shot the doctor gave me at the hospital was not the same stuff he usually gives me, and it did nothing. Yesterday he gave me the usually shot - although I think he did it with a lance that went completely thru my ankle - but the pain is GONE GONE GONE!

He unwrapped my foot yesterday and I saw it for the first time. I have about a three inch incision and many stitches. All my toes look like black and blue sausages. I took a picture if anyone wants to see it. :scared: I have to go back on the 30th to get the stitches out, and hopefully be done with this surgical shoe. And then we will make a decision about training again. I CAN NOT WAIT! I am coming back with a vengeance!! :thumbsup2

You know what's sad...six months from today we will be coming home from our marathon trip. :guilty:

Totally OT: We had FOUR - FOUR - bucks in our back yard this morning. One eight point that was a big as an elk! he was awesome looking! one ten-point and two four pointers. I have never seen four bucks together. I thought they were loners. It looked like two grandfathers with their grandsons, out for a graze in our backyard. It was so incredibly cool!

lourodrigis - Welcome! This group is an amazing source of support, education and entertainment!

Leana - Great pictures! :thumbsup2 But yeah, what's up with the water station pic? :confused3

Kristi - Is that like a "Baby Swap?" Everytime I see a post about Baby Swapping I think "Gee, I guess the parents didn't like the one they got." :rotfl: What? Was I tempting you? The thought never crossed my mind.... :rolleyes1

WWDave - I tried acupuncture for my tinnitus. Although it was interesting to do, it did nothing to help me. The accupuncturist did say at the start that if after four treatments we saw no improvement, he probably couldn't help me.
Judy, since you can't train right now, a gentle reminder from your "YARC" team subjects. "Keep your kiester out of the Fridge, no kitchen sinks till your back".

Thanks Dave. I can't believe I gained four and a half pounds last week! Thankfully, these past few days I have been diligent and they are gone. Now, if I can just get rid of a few dozen more.

Guys I'm afraid our dear friend Mouse SkyWalker may have had to make a very difficult decission

No. No! This can't be it. :guilty: Oh please. No. :sad2:

Lilly - Wow, thats fabulous! :woohoo: YAY for both you and DH!

Jen
- I'm with Kristi on this one... "arrests"??

a lot of being happy on the treadmill is deciding to be happy on the treadmill.
Wendy - Amen to that! :thumbsup2 When I start getting annoyed and bored with the TM - like sometimes I do in the dead of winter - I remember times...gee, like this - when I can't get on it at all! :sad2: Then I'm grateful I can even BE on the TM. Plus, I look at my time on the TM like this: It could be worse. I could be at work.

Carrie, Kristi, Judy and everyone else. Oh yes, and there are lots of people involved that teamed up with my aunt. I can't talk a lot about it yet, but I may be able to spill a little at CDC. It is so stressful right now and actually makes me sick to my stomach. Since I don't know who reads the boards, I can't take any chances.

Judy - Glad the foot is feeling better. Coming back with a vengence is a little scarey!!!! Now don't go hurting any other body parts!!!

Lily - My DD6 was picking out train cars that we could jump into and become hobos! It was pretty cute.

Kristi - We are just starting the interview process for an assistant/receptionist. We had quite a few applicants, so I hope that pixie dust is on our side this time. Yesterday I had to walk outside to let out a scream. I can't wait to get someone qualified into the position.

Geezzzz that took longer then I thought, I hate when work gets in the way of my posting time:rolleyes1

Ok where was I.

MSDave As everyone else has said we miss you around here and I hope things are going OK for you and your family.

Judy Glad to hear that things are looking up for you. You will be back training in no time.

Renee Have fun XT

Dave WTG on your 4 miler. How did you like Harry Potter???

Wendy I agree my TM times are always slower.

Jen Arrests????? Hope all is OK.

Cecilia Congrats on starting your Goofy training

Ohmom Congrats on getting out there. Don't be discouraged it will come.

Yikes back to work.

Kim

Hey guys, guess what....I got the picture of the week on www.completerunning.com! Actually, make that pictures..!

OK, I didn't do anything last night. I was going to go to yoga, but I was running late so I opted to bag that idea. Tonight is boot camp, then tomorrow I'll probably try to squeeze in a yoga session before my run. It is so crazy hot here right now that I'll probably try to do my run as late in the evening as possible. Thank goodness it is still light out until 10 or 10:30!

Judy - Yay for pain free! PD for your speedy recovery of your other foot!
Renee - Good luck with your XT tonight.
WWDave - WTG on your hilly 4 miler and getting out there in the heat. Be sure to hydrate!
Wendy - Wow, good for you for getting those steps in on the treadmill. Thanks for the tips!
Jen - Fingers crossed for you that the drama is over soon..!!
Cecilia - Good luck Goofy training!
Lily - What a great workout with your DH!!! Congratulations.
Craig - Wow, what an amazing run that must have been this weekend! Thanks for posting the story as I think it is definitely an inspiration to us all. Glad to hear that you are enjoying things in CO.
Kristi - I hope you are feeling better and able to get back on the eating and excercising band wagon soon!

My mom is now getting my dad on the walking/excercising band wagon. I wonder if he might be interested in doing the 6.5K ToT race..??

Leana – great pix! :) I think you look great and so athletic and focused!! :thumbsup2

Judy – so glad you are doing better! :goodvibes

Tricia – I train almost exclusively on the TM (due to vision issues) and know it can be tedious. Having a specific time or distance goal in mind is very helpful to me. I know there is an end in sight, like Wendy said.

Wendy – Thank you for sharing your advice. You know you are one of my heroes, so I LOVE to hear what you have to share about your experiences!

Stacey – great job on the back to back runs this weekend! 20 miles sounds like so many to me! Kudos to you for fitting them in!

Lily – Your miles and DH’s are awesome! What tremendous progress he has made, too! How cool that you can share this experience with him!

Craig – your posts always inspire me. Howard has visions of us doing this into our retirements (far too long off!) and it is reassuring to hear that it is not unreasonable to aspire to continue the healthy lifestyle instead of becoming couch potatoes. Congratulations on getting those amazingly fast miles in! You are going to be flying when you have to do cover them on flat ground. :thumbsup2

Kristi – your weekend sounds wonderful!

Jen – I hope it is all over very soon and smoothly

Okay, so we sent DS14 off to 3 weeks of performing arts camp yesterday and am trying to get DDalmost19 to focus on her vacation wardrobe needs. Work is crazy busy but totally under control, thanks to my most-awesome-in-the-world assistant. Since I was feeling pretty good about things, I left work by 7:15 last night and got to the gym for a bit of XT. 45 minutes on the upright bike – 10.5 miles. Alas, I then went home and ate nearly everything I could find in the fridge. LOL!! (Well, at least I’d brought all the leftover birthday cake to the office, so I wasn’t tempted!) :lmao: I am still also doing 100 crunches and pushups every day but have to constantly remind myself that does not give “license to fill” when I get home! Really, though, controlling my post-workout appetite is something I am really going to focus on when I get back from vacation.

HELLO HELLO :cool1:

COMPLETE drive by here. I am at work on luch break skimming posts and wanted to tell you guys how much you mean to me. It is so hard for me to motivate myself to run anymore: no Bobby to run with, it's so HOT :cool2: not to mention droppping from running 25 to 30 miles a week to 9!!! (at the most) anyway.... the excuses are continuous. OH yeah not to mention the PAIN in the back.

Anyway I was sitting here thinking I would not run again tonight (I have not run since Thursday) but just reading all your posts makes me want to run!! :woohoo:

Thanks guys. Will let you guys know how it goes.

By the way... Sorry for all the winy posts a few months a go about my measly 9 minute miles .. what I would not give for that now. :confused3

angie

Hey all... just a quicky update. I was able to get in my 40 minutes on the indoor track. WOW, it must have been hot in there because I was sweating. Since it was a 16 lap per mile track, I did NOT count my laps. But I did around 3 miles.

Also, for those TM trainers. I did pretty much all of my November/December/January training on TM for short runs and the indoor track for long runs. The other track I use is a 12 laps per mile track and I carry a lap clicker with me. I was starting to feel like the Queen of the Indoor Circle by the time the 1/2 marathon came around!

Angie - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I hear ya' on teh appreciate what you've got front. ALthough, I'm all better, I'd give anything for those easy sub 11s I had. :grouphug: We'll get back there. One step at a time. More :wizard: for Bobby!

Leana - Aweseome pix!!

Jen - :grouphug: :wizard: Hope things are much clamer by CDC. If not, though, at least you'll have live WISH therapy! :goodvibes

Judy - How cool on the bucks!!!

Angie - just sending lots of

SWDave - we miss you!

Judy - I am so glad that doctor gave you that shot & you are feeling better! You will be back out there in no time - I promise! And yes, we "baby swap" here, Disney World, everywhere! :rotfl: I really must stop calling him 'baby' though - he's 4 and looks to be 5 or 6!

Jen - I wish we lived closer! I'd ditch my job & come work for you! I hope this mess is all over soon. And yes - do not breathe a word here on the internet until it's absolutely safe to do so.

Sunny - I think of you every day Chad & I 'baby' swap' at Borders in Burlington. If you are not working one day, we should meet for lunch - I usually meet Chad around noontime there.

I am bound & determined to get in 3 miles outside, or with my Walk Away The Pounds DVDs later tonight. So, consider it done! I will not go to bed unless it is done. If Cam can do her crazy lawyer schedule and still find time to w/o, nevermind do her 100 crunches....well, then I simply have no excuse whatsoever!

But, Kristi, I don't work in the middle of the night like you do, I am sure my commute is shorter, and my "baby" is 14 (though he looks to be a year or 2 younger! ;) shhhh. .. . don't tell him I said that!) However, far be it from me to give anyone excuses. Though, you must know -- I can justify ANYTHING!!!! :rotfl:

That kid is a chip off the old block! I too look much younger than my youth would otherwise dictate. :rotfl: :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

HOward, you mean you're really older than 28?

Cam - You'll have to fight me for queen of excuses. ;)

Kristi - Gerat attitude!

Oh thank goodness!!

Thanks, Carrie.

Wonderful news about SWDave! (Well not that he is swamped, or LTO or such, but that they are well.) Thanks for checking.

Howard, seems like your family has found the fountain of youth! (Are you packed yet?)

Leana, great link. How cool to be featured.

Jen, that's a lot of circles you ran in. Same here for the later months in the year. I always try to find a way outside then unless it is icy/snowy roads.

Whoever said about getting outside and training in this heat to be better able ofr January, by the time that comes we've had enough cold weather training to nix all the hot weather w/outs. I just WISH for it to be a LOT cooler this January.

I just WISH for it to be a LOT cooler this January.
I second that!

PS from SWDave - He really has been meaning ot post adn will try to get here today.

Yup, he knows better than to try to run from us. ;) (Even if he is faster than many of us. :p)

I'm on vacation, just visiting and dis'ing - thought I would drop on in - I cant believe I've gotten 2 - 3 mile runs in

- truly an inspirational thread here!!

:wizard: :wizard: and pixiedust: to all!!

Where are you vacationing?

I rode my bike down to Frisco today, which is 7 miles downhill, and enjoyed the ride. The trip back up was not so pleasant....it took an hour to ride my 3 speed cruiser back up the mountain, but I made it back in one piece. lol:lmao:

Keep training TEAM.......our Disney trip is just around the corner! Yea!:yay:
