Good morning WISH Racing Team.

Erica and I are off here shortly for a 5 mile walk through the park trails. Then we are going to the Harry Potter movie. After that Erica has a class at the hospital, so I get to crosstrain, (Mow the yard) while she is gone.

Erica is a big Harry Potter fan. We both believe that magic is loose in the world and all things are possible.

Have a great day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Dave and Erica enjoy Harry Potter today, We are hoping to see it this week. We watched the last one on Sat night to refresh our memories going into the new one.

Kim

Good morning everyone!! Happy Monday! Not too much to share with everyone, I did my 9 miler on Saturday, it was okay. I did the first 3 outside and then the last 6 on the TM. My inserts were making my legs ache outside, they don't bother me nearly as much on the TM, which is how I've been having treadmill nirvana lately. :) I guess I'm on the TM all this week and I'll go outside for my lr on Saturday and see what happens.

Sunny--I can't even comprehend what you are going through!! But I am so glad that you were able to get some relief from the pain you've been living in. Are you planning on running Disney in '08 or are you taking a break for while?

Kristi--I hope you are feeling better!!!! Glad you had fun camping. Stephen and I usually go camping once a year with my family and every year we ask ourselves "why do we do this??". This year they are going camping the weekend of August 10th. Shucks, we'll be in Chicago then! I'm pretty heartbroken about that! ;)

Martha--I feel your pain! I'm dealing with breaking in inserts and new running shoes as well. Not fun! By the time I get them broken in, I'll need new running shoes! :)

Craig--Congrats on joining the Boulder RoadRunners!! They sound like an awesome group. How are you ever going to make yourself come back East?

Angie--:wizard: for Bobby's back!!!! And :wizard: :wizard: for you!

Cecilia--Congrats on being chosen as a leader for TnT.

Jackie--Congrats on running 13.5 miles!!!! Are you running the WDW full or half in January? You would so rock the full!!!!

I forget who was talking about eating Chef Mickey's post half marathon, but that is a great place to eat after a half or full marathon! I ate there after my half in 2006, I was so hungry (I'm always FAMISHED after a long run), I tore the buffet up!!!

I better get off here and start working. I'll be back later!!

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to post real quick to let Sunny know she is in my prayers. I hope this new wiring will help heal your back and get your body functioning properly and painlessly! pixiedust:

Kudos to all getting in their training!
Welcome to all our new members!
pixiedust: to everyone who isn't feeling top-notch!

It will be an insane week at work, so I won't be around much. Hoping to at least keep up with reading the posts, though, so that I won't be 2 weeks behind when we get back from our vacation!

Missing all my WISH teammates! :grouphug:

Sunny

It's always interesting to have your physician say things like, "that's unusual," and "wow, I've never seen that before."

Yes, and the word "fiddle" should not be uttered in reference to a wire in one's spine!!!!

Helen-- A big welcome back! It's so great to see you here:woohoo:

Krista-- I'm registered for '08 Full but that's very doubtful now. I'm totally ok with sitting it out. I'll just play it by ear.

Craig-- I'd go with "inspired", too. That's awsome that a 75 yo is out there running-- enjoy the company!

Angie-- mucho :wizard: :wizard: for DH.

Cecelia-- congrats on the TnT honor. You'll be a great leader!

Kristi-- Where'd you camp? DS keeps asking us to go to Storyland and Santa's villiage-- maybe next year.

I still have much catching up to do. I'm at work today. The really great thing is that several people have mentioned that I seem happier than they've seen me in a long time.

I might not let them take the wire out tomorrow;)

Sunny

Sunny--It's so good to "see" you happy again! I can tell just from the tone of your posts how much better you feel, I can't imagine how obvious it is to everyone in real life! :goodvibes Good luck tomorrow!!! :wizard:

Greetings Racing Team -

I'm not in the best of moods lately. Although the surgery has gone very well, and I do have some pain - the Sinus Tarsi has kicked in with a vengence on the other foot so now I can hardly walk. I look and feel like an old lady. I am seeing the surgeon at 1:30 today. :sad2: Right now I find it hard to believe there is any way I can comepete in anything, never mind a Half marathon.

However....after reading sunny's post, I can't complain. Sunny, you are an amazing woman. I hope so much this works out for you. You have the BEST attitude of anyone I have ever seen.

And one more thing before I go back into hiding....Did anyone find MSDave? :confused3

Good morning, everyone.

Welcome, Kathy!

My internet is out at home and I don't have much time to post (or lurk) at work (like now). But, here goes...

I did a 17 mi LW on Saturday. It was my longest distance ever, and I have to say, it was my worst experience ever. Here's why:
- Started at 1:00 pm due to other commitments on Sat and Sun mornings. Temps were in the mid-high 80's. Not much humidity, but the weather still took a toll.
- As usual, the soles of my feet we're overcome with friction heat. I used bodyglide, but it only helped for about 10 miles.
- I forgot to put on sun block. Shoulders, scalp, back of my neck, and nose should peel any day now. I actually felt them burning as I walked. :sad2:
- I carried 6 half-pints of water with me in my drawstring back pack. Of course, the weight diminished as I walked and drank. But, the backpack chafed something awful by my arm pits.
- My knees ached for the last 5 miles. This is new for me. OUCH! Had to ice them down at home.
- My time was much slower than I was hoping for. (4:06:30). I wanted 13:30 mpm. Ended up at 14:30 average. My last 2 miles were so miserable they came in at 15:40 and 15:35.

Thank God for DD. When I hobbled in the house at the end she was my little nurse. Filled the tub, brought me ice and advil, and babied me for 90 mins until my soles felt well enough for me to stand in the shower. What an angel.

Upcoming LW's are 8, 14, and 20. I'll make sure to start the 20 in the cool of the morning. I'm blaming Saturday's disaster on the weather/timing and vow never to repeat that. If I have a similar experience under better conditions, well, I'll have to reconsider my plans for the Baltimore Full in October and - dare I say - the Goofy in Jan. :worried: :guilty:

Have a great week, everyone. Here's hoping my home internet is fixed soon.

Kristi & Kim - OK, will be good today. Can't work out as I won't get home 'til after 9, but will do SR tomorrow. Will pass up Polish dog and kraut (whihch sounds wonderful right now ) for leftovers in fridge. Tryin gto eat 300 cal less than I burn, but step one is just eating anythign less than I burn. ;)

Kristi - Hope you get in to the doc and they can figure out why you're not better! :wizard:

Sunny - So glad to thear it helped, even if it was torture. :wizard: :wizard:

Judy - Good luck with the surgeon!!!! Are you hurting un-operated foot by favoring operated foot? :wizard: :wizard:

Krista - Sorry that you did not have road nirvana!

Sorry - Have not caught up with much Long weekend and busy day.

We did our 5 miles through the park and the cemeterys this morning, very comfortable since it wasn't to hot yet. We did the 5 miles in an easy 1:11.

Judy, Rise above it, lady. You are power and grace, this little speed bump will pass.

Has anyone here ever had accupuncture treatments? We don't have one here in the land of the great unwashed, but my one experience with it was positive. I was fighting a full contact match and we were wearing tennis shoes. (this was in the 70s so we didn't say running shoes). I caught my index finger in his shoe lace when I was blocking a spinning heel kick. My finger was dislocated and laying back against the back of my hand. It hurt like ^%$#$. There was an accupuncture practicioner there at the tournement, he came over and put a couple of pins in my shoulder then popped my finger back in the joint. I didn't even have any soreness the next day like it never happened.

I have had good luck with chiropractors, and massage also. I'm not going anywhere with this just making a comment.

What is that link that tells you when all the races are at Disney?

Happy Monday, WISHers!

I did my run inside today at the Y. It was crowded and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get my whole run in as there's a 30 minute time limit if there is a wait. However, I did get it done - 40 minutes at a 10 mpm pace followed by one minute at a 8 mpm pace. I am trying to slow down my pace a bit as I tend to go out too fast on LRs, so the TM forced me to do it. I kept running into the bar!

Martha - Hope the combo of shoes + orthotics works out tomorrow
Kathy & Lourodrigis - Welcome!
Cindy - That's an interesting workout! I might have to give it a try
Jen - I can't feel too sorry for anyone running at the beach!
Stephanie - WTG with the 12 miles!
Helen - Good job - back to back runs - woo hoo!
Andrew - Have fun camping!
Craig - So glad you we able to run down that octogenarian! We have one here who always does really well in 5Ks
Heather - Have fun in Santa Fe! Fun town!
Maggie - Yoga kills me. I am not made to bend that way.
Kristi - We ALWAYS get rained on when we camp!
Kim - So nice to not be sore after a 10K!
Dave - Hope you and Erica enjoy HP! Have you ordered book 7?
Krista - I've considered combining TM and outside in one wo but haven't done it yet. I may as my runs get longer and it gets hotter
Cam - Keep your sanity for your vacation!
Sunny and Judy - PD to both of you!
Kelley - That 17 mi LW didn't sound like much fun, but you did it!
Carrie - You made me hungry! Time for lunch!

Happy training, all! :)
Renee

Hey everyone!
Rest day for me so nothing to report. I'm trying to break in my new orthotics and new running shoes so it'll be slow with low mileage over the next week or so. With the heat and humidity the way it is, that may not be a bad thing.

Jen: 11 min miles with a jogger/stroller is nothing to sneeze at! Kudos for running in the humidity which has got to be worse than here.

Stephanie: happy to hear you got in your ~12 miles.

Andrew: think sunblock!

Calcio: :scared1: now I really have to break in those new shoes and get my butt in gear. :love2:

Heather: hope Santa Fe is/was fun and that you got in a training run. It would be gorgeous there.

Kristi: hope you feel better!! :wizard:

Kim: have fun with the weights

WWDave: hope the walk was fun. DD and I saw the new HP film over the weekend. We enjoyed it and I won't spoil it for you!

Krista: I'm so happy to hear someone else is going through my pain at the same time! Well, it's not happy, but you get the idea. Here's some :wizard: that you get yours broken in soon.

Sunny: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I'm thinking of you!!!

Judy: oh I'm so sorry to hear about the other foot now!! Hang in there lady and let us know what the doc says.

Kelley: your run sounds like how my week is going only for house-based things. DH is gone 3 whopping weeks (not even) and you wouldn't believe the problems encountered. The toilet needs to be replaced and the car is making funny noises. Not to mention the checkbook (nope, don't mention it) or the trees. What a week I'm having!! I need your DD to come and fill the tub for me, bring me ice (preferrably with something extra like whiskey) and ibuprofen!!!

Ok, gotta work. See you all later!!!

Hey Martha, Keep me updated on how your orthodics are working out. I went to PT this morning where they adjusted mine, so hopefully they will help out my heel w/out tweeking out my knee again. I'm getting ready to go walking in the pool to losen out the tightness in my muscles. Keep us posted!:goodvibes

Good afternoon WISH team! DH and I did 3.5 today (pushing the kids of course). I was again able to jog the whole thing - I am really starting to surprise myself! Average pace 10:50 :cool1: When I started training in march for the minnie, I thought I was a walker and that I would never be able to run/jog. I love having this competition with myself and I cannot believe how far I have come in just a few months.

I called this weekend and changed my reservation for DL half. We are now staying california adventure view at the Grand Californian!! I am so excited. I also booked Blue Bayou for lunch while we are there. I cannot believe how close my first half marathon is :scared1:

Renee - great run! I am wayyy slower on the TM.

Kelley -wow that is an awesome long walk! Sorry you are sunburned and sore.

Sunny - glad you're feeling better!

Krista - good luck with your TM runs this week. I wish I could find TM nirvana :upsidedow

Kim - Yay on no pain! Enjoy your rest day today.

Becky

Hi all - didn't have a chance to update yesterday since me and DH have been busy helping my sister at her new house (so lots of XT!!) But we were able to get a 3 mile run in yesterday. I got ticked of at my DH though because when he started running he said he would coach me - well I guess his competitive side kicked in and he left me at 1.5 miles (our turn around spot) I was mad because if I would have known the last half of the run I would be by myself I would have brought my phone (for safety) and my MP3 player so I wasn't bored. I guess live and learn. For some reason I can not get past the 3.5 mile mark. I get discouraged on the TM because it seems it takes forever and I don't go as fast as I can outside. I seriously think I need to turn the display off so I don't focus on the distance and the time. Does anyone else have that problem? Where the pace on the TM is slower then actual road running pace?

I am planning on getting a TM run in today so we shall see how that goes.

Wow, talk about a crazy busy weekend!

Friday I saw the new Harry Potter movie. I stopped into the Running Room by the movie theatre afterwards and they were having a sale on some discontinued Fuel Belts. I picked up the 4 bottle Endurance belt to give it a try. I have yet to find the perfect hydration waist pack, so I'm looking forward to trying this one out.

Saturday was boot camp. Only 3 of us showed up since it was technically a make up session for those of us that chose to attend the nutrition night since it clashed with the first boot camp class. Sheena worked us hard! Lots of push ups, tricep dips, step ups and tons of lunges. Plus hopping on one foot. Apparently that will help with my stability while running..? She also told me that I pooch my bum out when I run and I need to work on my core strength to improve that...

Saturday night we went to the Stampede grounds. Ugh....talk about gluttony! We had mini donuts, gave the fried cheesecake on a stick covered in chocolate sauce a try... All so bad for you, but it tasted so good.

Sunday morning I met up with some friends visiting town for a quick run. They sure are faster than I am! We ran for a bit, then headed to a big set of stairs to run up (I normally jog the hill there for my hill training). Let me tell you - going up those stairs I knew those lunges from boot camp had done some work! We didn't run for - slightly less than 2.5 miles. I cross trained in the afternoon by hanging a ceiling fan in my bedroom. That is a tough task on your own! I also learned then that those tricep dips and push ups from boot camp definitely worked! Then last night it was back to the Stampede for the Tragically Hip concert (a true Canadian super group).

Thank goodness Stampede is over. I'm looking forward to getting back on the healthy eating train!

Just a quick post from me. Got some xt done today on the elliptical and then a little weight work. But wanted to let ya'll know that I have 3 $1 off coupons for RoadIDs if anyone is interested. PM me and I'll shoot the code over to you. Okay, off to the grocery store!

TnT - I HATE the TM for those reasons and more. I've had many people tell me they put a towel over the display. I feel your pain about dh and the run. There are days I etell him to go ahead w/o me because I'm so slow adn he doesn't. However, there are days he just leaves me about 20 feet behind. I note that if I knew I was runnign myself, I'd have brought my mp3. Grrrr.... HOwever, come race day I am always glad he's with me. Hang in there!
