Wk of Jul 30--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Forgot to tell you guys...my family is doing a weight loss challenge. The ante is $25.00 and whoever looses the most by June 1st wins $200. How fun is that? :woohoo:

I have decided to defer my Marine Corps Marathon entry until 2007. They allow your entry fee to rollover. That means Krista and Kevin could commit to join me there in 2007. .

Cool Sara, MCM is on my list for 2007 as well! We need to get a group together for that one! Happy birthday to your DH! Wow, you cook too?? Everything sounds great!

Happy Birthday Cam!!!

Howard, I am doing Goofy too! I am going to take the half really SLOW and then do my best on the full. I would love to find a running buddy, I ran 4:48 in the marathon last year, but I think I will be too slow to run with you this year.

Judy, hopefully this will be the end to the heat wave and your mare gets some relief.

MelR  How are things with your today? How is the boy doing?

Colleen

Krista – I LOVE the picture of Hines! What a cutie. I’d love to dress cali in some cute little Disney shirt and I bet she wouldn’t mind at all.

Howard, Carrie, Judy, Christa, Dave, Monte & Colleen – Thank you for the birthday wishes. I feel very loved today! :goodvibes: :grouphug: And God knows, I have the best group of friends that anyone could WISH for!

Yes, Christa, I have been 25 for 18 years. I really can’t believe I am 43. I remember when I thought 40 was “old” and yet I feel better and younger than ever. Maybe it really is just a state of mind. :confused3

Monte – That weight loss challenge sounds great! Is that the most pounds? Or the highest percentage of their body weight? I would love to have someone to do a challenge like that with. Good luck! :thumbsup2 Who knows -- maybe by a year from now I will finally be at my WW goal. ;)

party: :cake: :bday: Cam!! (That's sugar free/fat free cake..tastes wonderful, too!!) and by all means..TAKE THE DAY OFF!!!

Most pounds.

Happy Birthday, Cam! :bday:

I was bale to get out for a 4 miler this morning:
12:57
12:48
13:05
13:10
52:02

Cam - I think what you said about your toes is probably exactly the problem I have with mine. I do notice that when it's really hot, my feet tend to slide a bit in my shoes. I've not had any blisters, but I think I might have that problem if I went up another size. I think I am just going to pray this nail falls off soon and I can stop obsessing over it! Who knew I'd *want* my toe nail to fall off? :rotfl:

Christa - YAY for signing up! And I agree, 3 or 4 miles runs is not resting!

Ok, gotta run. I will catch up with you guys Monday when life returns to normal & I am back at work.

Colleen:

I am goin' goofy with the personal understanding that I am going to take the Half Marathon easy and use it as a warm up to the full the next day. I will not be hung up on beating my previous time at Disney. Our marathon time is really similar.

I know I can do better than my first though. I hit the wall (Delaware Marathon in May) early on at about mile 16. I was totally devoid of energy and the will to go on. I sucked it up, re-energized thanks to Cam and my friends, and finished strong. I learned a valuable lesson - hydrate and fuel up regularly, even if you feel you don't need it.

Keep me in mind for the WDW Marathon. Maybe we can get a group together to pace ourselves along?

Thanks!

Howard

Monte, how long do you have for the wl challenge? Wasn't your DH thinking that going to WDW for the marathon might cut into your funds? Here's $200 that could help! Incentive for you? :)
Krista, Hines looks great!! I'm so glad you included him in your siggie! :thumbsup2
MelR, I must say, I was thinking that YOU might be pregnant with your downer post. Just not like you. But, that said, don't stop posting when things are not going well! We're here for the good, the bad, and the ugly!! ;)
Sunny, I'm repeating this for you..don't stop posting when things are not going well! We're here for the good, the bad, and the ugly!! Just let us know you are out there! :grouphug:
Judy, yay!!! You are back on track now!! :Pinkbounc
Dave, you are doing an excellent job with your training! or re-training...Slow(er) and steady will get you there!! :moped:
Sara, yes!! Please share the recipe for French Toast Loaf! Many years ago, I bought a WDW cookbook that well worth the money spent!! some fabulous recipes..:stir:
Christa, soooo glad you are feeling better! Are antibiotics a wonderful thing?? Congrats on signing up!! :woohoo:

Thanks for the party, Anne! I wish I could take the day off. Contrary to what it may look like because I have been here so much, I am actually crazy busy at work. Fortunately, I am great at multi-tasking and can teleconference and DIS at the same time! :teeth:

Awesome pace, Kristi! I hate to tell you this, kiddo, but mine have never fallen off. They just get thicker and thicker and I have to file the surface down so the nail isn't like a 1/4" thick. ICK! Badges of honor. Right?

I am worried about Sunny, too. I hope she checks in soon!

Happy Birthday Cam! I hope you have a great day.

Jan '07 will be my first marathon, and I hope to finish at the 4:30 time. I'll be all alone at the start (with 15,000 other people) and would love to run with some of ya. I'm staying at OKW and plan to walk to the start too.

Sonya

Happy Birthday Cam! Enjoy.

We are off to Edmonton tomorrow for a friend's wedding. DH is flying us there in a Cessna 172 (4 seater). It's our first "long" flight. I am nervous - I am a fair weather flyer, I am hoping the weather up the Rockies won't be too bumpy.

So I am going to do tomorrows walk today.

OK, SO busy at work right now and I promise to catch up with everyone later, but I just wanted to throw in a big

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAM!!!!

Sara -- Happy Birthday to DH! Dinner sounds fabulous! What about dessert? :cake: Did I miss that?
You neglect to mention that it’s YOUR birthday too?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Oh, I thought it wasn’t appropriate to mention what’s on the menu for DH's dessert on a public forum…
So sorry about the heel spur. I hope new shoes do you some good.

Sara, Sara, Sara--Why do you do this to me? If I don't stop finding fun races to run, I'll NEVER get pregnant!! We might see you at 'Ohana after the marathon, our ADR is at 5:45. How do you have all these great Disney recipes? Do you mind sharing the French Toast Loaf? That's my favorite!!!
Link for the the WDW recipes:http://allearsnet.com/din/rec.htm . I hope you find some of your favorites there. I understand about squeezing in a pregnancy somewhere along the line so I promise not to harass you.

Judy – Glad to hear you’re back in the saddle again. :cheer2:

Monte – Best of luck on the weight loss challenge!! :woohoo:

Colleen – Thanks for posting about wanting to do MCM ’07. I am still a little bummed, so I feel better knowing it may be for the best if some WISHers are able to run it next year. :grouphug:

Anne – Link posted above for the French Toast Loaf. I am STILL trying to perfect it after all these years.

Sunny – PLEASE post. ‘Ohana means family. No one gets left behind. We’re worried about you. :wizard:

Rachael – Good luck with the flight. I hope the weather is kind to you.

I had a great Southwest DING come up today for the flights I needed back from DL so I applied my funds from the cancelled MCM flight to the DL flight and broke even. I am worried about January flight costs to Orlando so I am trying to save some free tickets to use then.

Hey all - This is a quicky from since I haven't had time to catch up lately. I have been on call since last Friday and keep getting paged at night!!!

I went to the doctor yesterday and was given an inhaler for my EIA. Tonight is a run with my group and I get to "try" it out for the first time. I am a little nervous not knowing exactly how to do it, and also since I have been running very little in the last 2 weeks. We are doing a 5K tonight, so I hope this inhaler gives me a little extra lung power. The pharmacist said it could make me jittery, so I am picturing me jumping around and skipping like Steve Martin when I am supposed to be running!

CAM - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Have a wonderful day!!!

Judy - It was great to see that you got back on track so quickly. It usually takes me a week or so to get my butt back in gear!

Dave - I know I haven't said anything lately, but it is great to hear that you are getting back to real running. I can't imagine the pain you were in. With all the obstacles I have had to overcome, that is one I hope to never have!!! Oh and you and your girls are going to love Ohana's. I have taken mine 3 times and they always love it. My girls will be 6 and almost 4 at the marathon.

Christa - I am so gald you signed up for the marathon. I hope I get to meet you there!!!!

Ok, I am at work and made it my goal to try to get out here and post. NOw I should really get some work done!

Happy birthday Cam!

I hope you find a wonderful way to enjoy.

I'm at owrk, break is over... :wave2:
:sunny:

Cam - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :cake: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: party: party:

Christa - I'm so glad you signed up!!!! I think my best marathon time so far is 4:43 so you would probably be faster but I'd love the company!!! Phil is running w/ me this yr. He did one marathon w/ me (w/o running to train of course, but he works out all of the time w/ long workouts just not running much) and he did it in around 4:32 so he would be much faster if he didn't stick w/ me most of the time! I'm so excited about seeing you again! We still havent ruled out the whole baby thing, but we haven't worked up enough bravery yet. If it does happen, I'll probably still try to do the marathon but I'm guessing my pace wont be great!!

Maharae - I dont know what my little funk was about. I just go so hot! I'me better now. I looked at the number of workout hrs. I had logged that week and it was around 9hours of aerobic stuff (and only 3 workouts) I might have overdone it a little that week :teeth:

Colleen - the boy just finished his last official summer playdate (bummer!) He is still a big mess! Hopefully he'll take a nap in a few minutes!

Today I rode around 30 miles and ran 3 1/2. We are going to go ahead and do our own 1/2 ironman. I made us shirts on cafepress that read mean girls 1/2 ironman 2006 and they have a hybiscus on them. Our families are going to support the course and i think we may have some friends who are going to join different sections of the course for encouragement and fun. I'm really looking forward to it. We worked on the course today! I promised the boy a grilled cheese b/4 nap, so I'd better stop wasting valueable time!

Today is my 15th wedding anniversary. We are going for a weekend away tomorrow. I think I'll have high speed, so i'll check in

Thank you all for asking about me. Yes, I admit I am very depressed. The pain hasn't subsided with inactivity. I tried a little 10 minute walk last Sunday and spent two days in agonizing pain afterward. I'm convinced I am looking at surgery. I called and begged to have my next apt with the two ns drs moved up but they don't have an opening, so I don't see them until Aug 17. I feel like I'm living my life ina waiting room, clinging desparately to my percocet as my only hope.

My poor mother is driving to Mt. Auburn right now (in the heat) to get my MRI (again) since Lahey lost the first one. We're hoping there may be some evidence of change between that one (June 9) and the one done a couple of weeks ago.

If I have the spinal fusion surgery, its a 5 day stay in the hospital and anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months recovery time depending on age, activity level, etc.

I can barely type this, but I realize now that I will not be running Applefest. I can't look any further inot the future yet, its just too painful. I refuse to do the math. And I refuse to do anything with my signature just yet.

Thank you so much for being there for me.

Kristi-- I'm so sorry for your loss, we've lost way too many youth in our community to dangerous driving.

Cam-- Happy birthday!

Sunny

Sonya - My plan is to finish up around that time. Some others have said they will be doing about that time.

Craig, Howard, Sonya and anyone else I have missed........
I HAVE A PLAN!
We all need to at least start together and if someone wants to pull off, no pressure to stay with the group.
The 1st of the marathon is "slow" anyway due to the crowds.

I guess we need to be in the same corral...I put my 4:25 Charlotte marathon time down....actually, my 2:10 1/2 marathon may have given me a better start point. Oh well...too late!

What do you gals and guys think?
