…I might have some bad news....DH is complaining and complaining about me going to WDW in Jan. He feels that the money that I've saved for WDW will put a burden on our retirement. He feels that Iam cheating our future by going to WDW, so now I'm not sure if I'll be going or not....the guilt is too much. I'll hold off til the last second before I cancel my reservations, but I have a feeling that I'm going to miss you guys in 2007. :guilty:
Aw that is such sad news. Will you ever get to go if you don’t make it this January? I know it is a very difficult decision. I hope you can find a way and that whatever the decision it is not one for regrets after.

Amy, thanks for your report. That is great news, and you did this in such heat. Whew!

Denny, I wear Wigwam brand for my running/wogging pleasure. I have a pair of thorlo brand, but still think the Wigwam is best for me. I also have a pair of seamless socks that actually have L and R on them so I can get it fitted right! You can get choices at your local running store. That’s where I got mine.

Tracey, welcome to our WISH Team! So glad you will be here with us.

Kelley, welcome to our WISH Team! Sorry for your bad morning walk. Hope you get it figured out. You know most here will help you through it.

I didn’t get to mine yesterday. Today is TM again. Humid and I don’t think I wanna play out there. I’m getting home later as I am getting my hairs done after work.

More later…

Oh, you want to know the news?

I have been accepted into the University of Delaware's MBA Program beginning this Fall. :woohoo:

I am also being considered for a program called the Corporate Associates program where while attending the MBA Program full time, I would work for an area employer 20 hours a week and receive full tuition PAID and a small stipend. If this were to work out, WOW!!! I would be thrilled.

I guess there will be no more time for this :surfweb: and this :happytv: starting August 29.

I have to go running now. I hope to get in at least 6 miles this afternoon in the sweltering heat.

Happy training! :grouphug:

Actually, that is pretty selfish of me. :rotfl: It IS his news, after all.

I'll tell him to come share!
You CAN't do this! I need to know now that you've put out the teaser. Good thing he came in right away!

Congratulations Howard! It is fantastic. Yes, running you must do! You have a lot of training ahead. Hope it is going to fit together for all of you now.

Howard

WHEW! I am so glad he came and told you. Not sure how much longer I could have kept my big mouth shut! :teeth:

Life is about to be very different for all of us, especially since we will now have 3 tuitions to pay! And DH may not be as readily available for single parent responsibilities. So, we'll all adapt -- it's for a great cause. :cloud9: Howard had to go to school at night for many many years to finish his bachelors (money concerns & small children) and has wanted to go back to get his MBA for about 9 years, so this really is fantastic news for him.

:cheer2: :cool1: Way to go Howard :cool1: :cheer2:

My race on Monday has inspired me to keep it going. I was getting lazy and only running occassionally, a lot due to a huge work project. But after the 10K and looking ahead to my half in 2 weeks I'm ready to go again. I ran 4 on Tue, swam Wed, ran 6 today and it felt really good.

Thanks for keeping me going WISH team, you are all so awesome!

Sonya

That's GREAT NEWS Howard! Congratulations! :Pinkbounc

That'll be a load off your mind (and wallet) if you can get into the Corporate Associates Program. Good Luck! :thumbsup2

I did my 7 miler today since I will be out of town this weekend. I dont have time to skip it since (in case you didnt know ) 7 WEEKS TILL DISNEYLAND :dance3: 14:48 pace at 6:00 a.m. it wasnt too hot but you could feel the air it was so humid. :sad2:

Howard- CONGRATS!!! Sounds like a great program & I know UD is a great school :cheer2:

Monte-I am so sorry it may not work out for you. Maybe you can find other things to cut back on to make up for what you are spending on this trip. Good luck!

Tracey-WELCOME! This is a fabulous group. You are just training to train right now so you have plenty of time to increase your time/distance. Usually for the 1/2 it is a 14 week training program. Alot of us use Marathoning for Mortals. Very doable! I would recommend having some type of training in place at 14 weeks out though.

Amy-awesome job on the 5k

Melissa - I just ordered the Strider Pack 82933 from Sierra Trading Post. It was on sale ($17.95) plus I got 20 cents shipping! :thumbsup2 Thanks for turning me on to them. They have lots of neat things! :teeth:

Just a quickie post, I'll try to catch up with you all tomorrow at work.

4 mile wog:
12:16
12:32
13:07
14:44
52:40

No wonder my shins were killing me the first 2 miles - I never go below a 13 min/mile! The heat started getting to me during the 3rd mile. And the 4th mile, I was getting worried about heat stroke. Not a good idea to be out there, going faster than I ever have gone, in 91 degree weather at 1pm, huh? My overall time was the fastest 4 miler to date though.

Thanks everyone! :grouphug: I am excited about everything in my life, children, Graduate School, an interview early next week and especially Cam. (Isn't she great! )

I am back from the sweltering hot run. I navigated 6.4 miles in 1:24:11. I really didn't run to keep on any particular pace. It was steamy hot and I walked and hydrated often. Most of mile 1 - 5 was through the woods on a paved trail. The last lap was on a cinder track, I ran that at good pace.

Here is what the Garmin says:

Mile 1: 13:11
Mile 2: 13:29
Mile 3: 15:33
Mile 4: 14:24
Mile 5: 14:43
Mile 6: 8:51

I am keeping a somewhat ragged schedule of runnigng and cross training. I plan of firming it up soon and being ready for the DL 1/2.

I ran a 5K last weekend in 26:00 for an 8:24 pace. I know I can do better.

Have a most excellent evening!

Howard

CONGRATULATIONS Howard!!

And Cam, we have a DL map from our trip last week. Only problem is, DD won't part with it in its original form. She will, however, allow me to photocopy it and send it to you. So if you're happy with a copy, PM me your address and I'll send it to you. Otherwise, I can't help you since Annie refuses to let this one leave! We never did pick up a map at CA - just lucked our way through the few hours we were over there!

I've done nothing since returning from CA on Sunday. My body has been unable to recover and catch up on sleep. We have inventory at work tomorrow, and I'm promising my body that once that's over I'll get back to my normal self.

Jackie

Wow is it hot outside!! :sunny: I was going to run on the treadmill, but Hines looked at me with his big, brown eyes that say "Mom, please don't put me in the crate", so I decided to run outside (For all the newbies, Hines is my dog, not my child or husband--we've already had that confusion once :lmao: ). It was 86 degrees when I started, but overcast, so I thought it wouldn't be that bad. I clearly was not thinking, it was HOT!!! Hines made it 15 minutes before I brought him home and put him in his crate while I finished up. I intended on doing 40 minutes again, but I decided at 2.5 miles to just do 3 instead. I ended up running 3 miles in 32:something, when I came in, my face was bright red and my shirt was so wet that you could see the outline of where my bra was. And speaking of bras (hope I don't offend anyone here, somehow I doubt that I will), can I tell you how awful it was running in a shirt??!! Since I've been running a lot on the treadmill recently, I've just been wearing my sports bra and a pair of shorts, so it was REALLY hard running in a shirt. I guess unless I develop some abs of steel between now and January, I better get used to wearing clothes when I run! :teeth:

Tracey--Welcome! I love how our little family is growing!

Lily--It is SO good to "see" you back here, I've missed you!! I kind think of you as the glue who holds us all together. :goodvibes

Hi Everyone  ,

Love all of the WISH pictures from years past --- I can’t wait to go this January.

Has anyone here worked with Teams in Training before? I’m going to a meeting to learn more about them on August 10th. It sounds like a super positive thing! :goodvibes

Amy – great job on your race, I wish I could do that well. My average for a 5k always seems to be 30:30. Although, I will be taking things slower for the marathon and half marathons.

Kevin, Krista, and Lily – Thank you for your advice on how to train for Goofy….I still have to print out all of the information (I have to do that at work – I have no printer for the computer at home).

Sunny – The doctors are able to help you out soon!

Hi Tracey – Welcome to the group :wave2:

Congratulations Howard! :cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Since I've been running a lot on the treadmill recently, I've just been wearing my sports bra and a pair of shorts, so it was REALLY hard running in a shirt. I guess unless I develop some abs of steel between now and January, I better get used to wearing clothes when I run!
You’ve posted pictures before and you skinny, I bet you could pull it off, just wearing the sports bra. By the way for those of you have gone --- Is it okay, to go down to a sports bra?, or is that not Disney friendly (again – I won’t do it unless I get abs of steel either).

Hope everyone is doing well with their training -- Tonight is a rest night for me.

Have a good one everyone,

Jodi

I thank you so much for saying this. It has made my day!

Oh and I get that outside "dress-up" look. I did TM and will again tonight with the fan pointed in my direction and I'm in sausage pants and sports bra and extra weight me...quite a scary picture.
:teeth:

Cam and Howard, I so enjoy your recent exchange and excitement of your news and support of each other. It is refreshing.

Sonya, Yes! It is great that you have been bitten and are returning to the event!

Tiff, great that you got out this a.m. I admire you for that.

Judy, I hope you love the pack you have ordered. I can't leave home without my "tool belt!"

Kristi, glad you are doing well even in the heat. Be careful though.

Jackie, you will get back at it soon, recover and make a plan on how you are getting back onboard.

Going to jump start the TM in a short while.

Hi, everyone! Thank you so much for your happy words to Howard. He has worked so hard to earn this opportunity and I am sooo happy that we can share the joy of the accomplishment with all of you. Of course, eveyrone has asked whether he will still have time to run and he says "yes" and I think it will become a stress reliever for him.

Okay, here is my happy news. Did my 7 mile LW tonight because I knew I wouldnt this weekend (thanks for the idea, Tiff! :lovestruc ). Are you ready for this? Here are my splits:
mile 1--14:31
mile 2--13:51
mile 3--13:50
mile 4--13:18
mile 5--14:13 (not sure what happened here?)
mile 6--13:23
mile 7--12:00 !!!!!!

I have to admit mile 7 was done after a considerable break because a friend came over to chat. But the fact that I could get my body going again after a break was an accomplishment for me. I actually jogged 1/10 of a mile and then walked 1/10 for almost all of that last mile. So, I still don't have the stamina to jog more than a minute or so, but I coud do it more often than I had been challenging myself to do. My walking tonight was almost all at 4.2 mph and the jogging was at 6.2 mph (which I think may be considered running -- it is sub-10:00 after all), even if it is for onlya minute or so at a time. What do you think? Can I call it running? Huh? Please?

Overall time: 95:06; pace 13:25
