Dilema - Need help somewhat quickly.
OK, I was all set to sign up for the 10 K Saturday. I really think a race would boost my training. I looked up last year's results, though, and it's not pretty. The last 2 years have had 337 to 367 runners. Our pace from Saturday, where I pushed it hard the first 2/2.5, would have put us 5th to 8th from the last. Will being darn near last hurt more than it helps? I know the whole DNF>DLF>>DNS, but after finishing a marthon fairly well (at least from what I wanted to do), doing darn near last in a 10K sounds kind of depressing to me? ANy thoughts? AM I just being silly?
Ok..... If you like the course and feel like you want to run it, I say go for it. BUT, I was going to run the 5K at CG and had the same reaction when I saw the times of last years finishers.
So, go out there and just do it for fun. Don't worry about your time, don't worry about the other racers. I have sadly had to beg off this weekend because I have to go up north and play golf, otherwise I would totally come out there and run it and be next to last with y'all
.
and DD8
(that's for you MelR)

Ok, not so funny (for me) - but I will play with it later. Sorry it's so darn big!
(Okay, I originally had
but figured that to anyone who doesn't know how high maintenance my DD17 is, that would have seemed very cruel and un-mommy-like!
You may be cultivating two very talented runners with whom you will be able to share this sport for the long-term.
thinking about her all the time, wondering whether she got herself up in time for class, whether she's taken her meds, whether she's doing her homework, eating something other than junkfood (what are we paying $1900 for if she isn't going to the dining room for food but getting chick fil-a or pizza or subway instead?) You guys are going to have such a hard time putting up with me in about 3 weeks. Let me just beg your forgiveness ahead of time.
My mom gave me a whole bag of paperback books...that's the only reason I'm sticking with the TM for right now. Well, that and the heat, humidity, and trying not to reinjure my foot like I might have on Sat
I can't imagine what I'll be like when Kaley goes off to college. Of course, right now, she says she wants to live at home and go to UF, but we'll see how she feels about that in 5 years
I'm sure you'll have nothing to worry about...your DD will eat right, get up on time and never, ever miss her classes...just like we all did as undergrads
I think you should do the 10K...you'll be great! I always check prior race results before I register for any race. As long as there's at least one person slower than I think I'll finish, I'm in
DD's fine...thinking about volleyball this year in addition to soccer and running.
yikes...wish we had enough
to make it better.
