Wk of Jul 23--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Good morning. :sunny:

I'm happy to report that today's walk was much better than Thursday's. Today was the first time adding distance to my "regular/short" walk. So, from now on I'll be doing 4.9 mi instead of 3.7 mi on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. My time today was 1:06:00 (13:27).

I left the house at 7:11 am. I don't know what the temp was at that time. But, when I got home I think I heard the TV say it's 81 outside. Ugh. It sure felt like it.

Another drive-by:

My second toe on my right foot is giving me problems. I really think I am going to lose that toenail now too. I spoke to the man at the running store yesterday (was near there thru a fluke and didn't have my shoes with me). He thought that maybe it's my shoes. Even though I was properly fitted & got a 1/2 size bigger - I may in fact need a full size larger instead. My pesky second toe on each foot is just a smidge longer than my big toe.

So, I am bummed. Not only does my toe hurt. I have to find money for new shoes again when my others don't have that much mileage on them. Oh well - I better suck it up and buy bigger ones so I don't have major problems in Disneyland!

Dave - We are eating at Ohana's after the 1/2 Marathon on Saturday. It is my favorite place to eat at WDW and the kids LOVE it. My girls are currently 3 and almost 6. This will be our celabratory dinner and I can't wait. I don't think you would be dissappointed at all. Last year we went on our Anniversary night and the Hawaiian singer pulled us up and 2 other couples and we got to dance in front of everyone. The girls love the coconut races.

I bailed out on my running group on Thursday because it started down pouring and I figured not many would show up. Instead I went home and did 35 minutes on the treadmill. I go in on Wednesday for me EIA (asthma) checkup. I notice that even on the treadmill I have difficulty breathing. I hadn't been using the treadmill much this summer, so now with the heat I have gone back to it and I breathe the same as outside. So it's not just the heat doing it to me.

I am working today and tomorrow and am on call through Friday of next week. Blahhhhhhh.... Happy running everyone.

Kristi, pixiedust: for your toe. Sorry about the extra cost for new shoes, though, but do get it taken care of before DL!! Have fun on Tuesday with the Goo Goo Dolls!! :rotfl2:
Dave, :dance3: for you! You have really stuck with your exercise regime through the highs and the lows! I'm really glad to read that you are taking it a little bit slower this time around, though!!
Cam and Howard, What a team!! Congrats on your paces! Howard, talk about a full plate!! Here's hoping you get the tuition paid for by someone else!! :thumbsup2
Monte, Yay!!! Way to go!! Really am hoping something comes up that you'll make it in January!
Carrie What were they thinking starting the race at 9 am??!! Here's hoping for the cooler temps!

Got my 7 miler in today. got out by 6 am..nice and cool. GU makes SUCH a difference! I did 9 Sports Beans(with water) at 3 miles and I didn't like the way I felt for the next mile or so. At 5 miles I drank GU that I had diluted with water and put in one of the little GU flasks. Whoa! I could really feel it working! When I finished up, I was not exhausted at all. :cheer2: Stayed a minute and a half ahead of the sweepers! :rotfl:

Congratulations Howard :cheer2: Both onthe MBA program and the great 5K results.

Cam-- your pace improvement is awsome! Don't forget to take some "laid back weeks" here and there to avoid burnout and over training. You are doing so great.

Kristi-- Many of us lose that second toe toe nail. Mine is on my left foot. Even with properly fitted shoes, marathon training will probably leave you with a black toe nail or no nail at all. MelR's advice is to pain it (toe nail or naked toe nail bed)!!!! I'm sad to say I currently have all my toe nails and they are all a normal "pink/white" shade :sad2:

I'm doing great today. Very little pain so far. Of course that makes it really hard to not get active, but I'm not taking any chances this time.

Sunny

Just a drive by as I've done nothing but sleep and eat since the race. Need to accomplish something.

Hot, sticky, nasty.

Finished. Wasn't last. Met some great people. Angels along course did have their sprinkers on the street for us. Bless them!!!!!

More with pics later. Thanks for your thoughts, it was not easy. Love my wish socks!!!!

Way to go Carrie! :cheer2: We knew you wouldn't be last!

Sorry I have been MIA lately. Visited Carrie, Scott, and Kevin (solo) in Michigan week before last. Had a blast! Can't wait to go back next year. Carrie has a great picture of all of us together that we should post.

Work is still crazy and I have not been training at all. I modified my MfM program today, and I am still on track for the DL 1/2. I will do a 4 mile walk tomorrow to ease back into things and then back to the gym on Monday for run/walk on the TM.

And, after catching up on the whole week's thread (phew!) I realized that no one knew the answer to the question of who was in the first photo on disneyrunning.com. The answer is ..... drum roll please ..... TammyNC. Tammy is a great DISer and WISH member who completed the 1/2 marathon in 2005 and 2006 as part of the WISH team. As I recall, she is related to our very own Bev (alreadyexcitedgranny) and Molly (OhMom).
