Wk of Jul 2--2007 WISH Walking/Running Club

Dena - I'm glad to see you back. I have been missing you! I really like your accountability statement. I think we would all be very mentally healthy athletes if we would stick to some of those ideas!

Kevin - OUCH!!!!! The solution is clear. No more doing dishes or housework for you!! Hope it heals quickly!

Is EMH Ext magic hrs? If so, do you make your ADR's in the park with the EMH and then stay and play?

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The WISH meet is at 4:00??????? I don't think we will be in until 7:00 on friday :guilty: :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: I hope we can get to some of the other wish events!!!! Y'all just need to sit around and chat till the late hours so I can see you there!

Just fininshed 3 miles on the TM. Phil is on-call, so as I was sitting downstairs watching NickJr. and Dis channel w/ the boy, the TM started calling to me. Glad that is done!

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

OK, I have a reservation at the Wilderness Lodge for Saturday, January 6th, and I'm thinking we'll be staying off site the other days. I made an ADR for Chef Mickey's for Saturday, January 6th at 5:30p. That day will be DD8s princess: birthday (will be DD9), and we'll celebrate a birthday dinner there.

I didn't know about the WISH meet for POR on Friday either. Friday at 4:00p at POR? :confused3

Yes! EMH = Extra Magic Hours. Different parks on different days, some days morning hours, some days evening hours.

Last year DH and I did AK evening EMH - very cool. That park always closes early, and the evening hours were awesome. We ate at the Flaming BBQ and had seats down on the terrace level looking across the water at Expedition Everest. We were the only people in the entire area. We walked through Asia and did not see another person, it was like we had the park to ourselves. Not a lot of rides or shows going on, but just the feeling having the park to ourselves was wonderful.

Otherwise, you need to check and see if the attractions open during EMH make it worth your while. This trip I will have my DD 21 with me, so you can be sure we won't be doing any morning EMHs. I like the evening EMHs just for the extra time in the park.

Still trying to decide about a few other ADRs. There is always the dilemma of choosing between tried and true favorites, and something new. DD is not the most adventuresome eater, so that limits us too. We are definitely planning on Hoop-de-do Review on Thursday night, but Disney is not taking reservations for 2007 shows yet. I love the planning!!

I forgot to mention my 8 mile LW this morning at the forest preserve. I had an average pace of 16:04.

That included several stops for wild life. At one point I rounded a bend in the trail and an attack squirrel was up on its hind legs :scared1: I do NOT like squirrels. Am I the only one who thinks they are rats with bushy tails? After I jumped back a few feet (and probably confused my garmin) the squirrel headed up a tree. Took me a few seconds to get back into my groove after that terrifying experience. Fortunately the next wild life encounter was a lot better. A deer and her two fawns were standing directly on the path. After a moment the mom gracefully jumped into the high grass....but the two fawns just stood there looking at me. No way was I going to walk between them and their mamma, so I tried shooing them from where I was and after looking at me for another moment or two they followed their mom into the brush. It was just like the cornfield scene in Field of Dreams, one moment you could see them, and the next they had completely melted away. I also saw a blue heron - not too fond of them either since we have had one munching on the koi in my backyard pond. There were also a lot of cute bunnies and lots of people with dogs. So, all in all, it was a good walk. The Chicago Distance Classic is only 36 days away, it is getting close.

And in case you were wondering.....

71 days until the DL Half
182 days until the WDW Half
183 days until the WDW Full :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Take care everybody!

Time to get back to work.

We had my uncle's funeral today. Everything went fine. We're having him cremated so we can take his ashes back to Arkansas ( :wave2: to MelR) so he can be buried with his wife.

I'm getting ready to go out for a 5 mile wog. Hopefully I won't be too slow.
My nightly spinning rides with the Tour de France are going pretty well. I've actually lost 3 pounds! :goodvibes

Dena and escape - So you came to PA and didn't even say hi to me?! :teeth: Hope you enjoyed your time here. I love taking my nieces/nephews to Sesame Place. We always have a ball. And my Mom and her siblings are originally from Amish country. We visit there often.

Kevin - Hope the knee is feeling better.

So the WISH meet is Friday at POR? I must have missed that announcement.

I know I missed a lot on this week's thread. Now that things will get back to normal (I hope), I should be able to keep on top of the weekly thread.
Happy weekend training to all! :thumbsup2

Terri

Terri, sorry for your loss. Sending PD :wizard: your way.

Kevin, rest the knee, use some ice and see how it feels tomorrow. Hope it turns out to be a simple tweak.

Dena and Escape, glad you enjoyed your visit to PA. I live about 1/2 an hour from Lancaster and we head out there about every month or so.

I know I have missed a lot of others but I do not have that much time. I have been very lame in posting for about 3 weeks because I have been swamped at work and doing some home improvements, but mostly because I have been having a lot of dificulty with getting the body working right. I have run a 5 K (23:08 but had to walk 4 times in the last mile due to back spasms), and a number of long runs but have difficulty with each one. I think there is a combination of really having glucose issues and my over thinking the difficulty. I did a 7 miler on Thursday and right at 6 miles (around 50 minutes) I got light headed, dizzy, vision got blurry, and every muscle in my body felt dead. I stopped and walk/ran back to my car then took some gatoraide and instantly felt better. Today I did 10 miles with the running club and the same thing happened at mile 8. This time I had Sport Beans with me and they worked well but I was finished running and ended up doing 6 min run 2 min walk to the end. Sorry for going on and on but, as you can see, I am trying to figure this thing out with little success. I am going to set up an appointment with a nutritionist, maybe they can help.

Thanks for listening everyone. Hey WDWfan9, the Chicago Distance classic is the same day we head home to Saratoga Springs for the first time. Good luck.

I remember from a previous post but wasn't sure if it was set in stone....just assumming :teeth: I'm hoping it works that I get to meet everyone then....although you never know - I'm also doing the Goofy with one of my best friends, who at that time won't have seen in a year - I'd like to spend some quality time with her too! Tough to fit so much in such a short weekend :goodvibes
