DS is nestled all snug in his bed...

Now I'm going to show you just how brave I really am.

First a note to Judy: All the comfort and convenience I said about wearing men's swimming trunks still holds, but think very carefully about donning them if you might be photographed...

OK onto "Mom Dorkus" and Daughter 5K pics!!!!

And now for something completely different...
A dear WISHer requested walking slogans at my cafepress store :Pinkbounc I thought it was a great idea and I've started a couple of lines. Once I started thinking about it, a silly thought popped into my head and I just couldn't resist...

Good night,
Sunny

Sunny - You and DD look great. She is beautiful, just like her mama! Be careful girl!

I had talked about running 1 extra mile tomight with my JRT! Just got home from "the meeting" and fed me and the DDs. I have also hurt my knee some how. It hurts on the side and only when I walk after sitting for a while or walk down hill to take the garbage can out to the curb for pick up.....Things that make you go Hmmmmm. :confused3
So I will ice, take my Joint formula, and swim tomorrow (maybe? I have so many clients to see and write notes on....), oh, and get new shoes...tomorrow is payday! :goodvibes

Sunny - The pics are wonderful!! I also love the slogan it is awesome. I'm sorry about your back. They should let you stand up during those meetings as needed (ADA) Just let them know you'll need to get up and walk around during the meeting.

Helen - Hugs to you, I am sorry to hear about Kitty.

Dave - I have never stayed at the Swan/Dophin. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in Jan 2005 (for the 1/2) and I really enjoyed it. (We have also stayed at POP, CBR and BC). I would go for the WL if you can. Is $280.00 a discounted rate? The rate may come down. Off the top of my head I don't remember the exact price we paid, but it was under $200.00 including taxes. We booked a standard room, and luckily received an upgrade to a courtyard room.

Good Morning Team! :surfweb:

Sunny- great pictures of you running with your DD! Congratulations to you for getting your children involved in running. I hope your back starts feeling better soon.

So I ran outside on Tuesday!!! My PT gave me a walk/run plan to work up to running again and get my leg ready for the impact. I went to the University track and alternated walking and jogging for about 2 miles (first 110 yards, then 220 yards, ultimately working up to jogging a whole lap). My pace for 2 miles was about 15 mpm - which is about what I was walking on vacation. Jogging, I would go my 10 mpm pace and then walking I would slow down to about a 20 mpm pace. I'm not supposed to do any impact work for 48 hours after running. So I did my 30 min swog yesterday. My right leg doesn't feel too bad - been better, been worse.

So I noticed this morning that Anthony Travel has posted their room rates for the WDW Marathon Weekend. Did anyone else see these?

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa - $345.00
Polynesian Resort - $285.00
Animal Kingdom Lodge - $229.00
Port Orleans Riverside Resort - $149.00
Caribbean Beach Resort - $149.00
Disney's Pop Century Resort - Lake Buena Vista $95.00

Thanks for all the advice on resorts stay. I made my reservation for the Sheraton Vistana Villages, and I think I am going to stay with my Wilderness Lodge reservation for the night before the marathon. It doesn't seem like my rate for the WL is that great, but I'm going to wait for the AAA rates to come out and see if I can switch it then.

OK, off to do my morning leg exercises and ice.

I am very disappointed in the ANthony Travel rates. Usually they have really, really good rates. That is during value season, I think the regular rates are better than those. Last year with AAA we got POP for $70 for the first night & then we were at WL for $229 for woods view. Just keep your ressie Dave, lower rates are sure to come out.

Sunny-great pics! Your DD is gorgeous, I bet you lift weights to fight off all the boys :teeth: I love that walking slogan!

Christa-that is so funny they thought you were too young for adult swim. I think I would have kissed that lifeguard :thumbsup2

Yesterday was xt so I did Turbo Jam and Ab Jam. Boy do my abs feel it today! But its a good pain :cloud9: I know this will help whip my abs into shape!

I got my report back on my blood work & I am very deficient on B12 & iron. So she wants me to take supplements of both & come back in 3 months to get re-tested. I really hope this solves my lightheadness problem. I've been training too hard for my "head" to cause problems during the race .

Sara-that is so cool you are surprising the girls with an extra trip :woohoo:

Sunny, I know you are close - and anyone else:

I just found this race on the web. It's only a couple miles from my house and on a day I am scheduled to do 8 miles - so what's 10 mile race then, right? :teeth: I think it may be the first year they are doing this. And they are doing individual racers, as well as 2 & 4 person relays. I am going to check with Chad when he wakes up, but I really think I am signing up for this one. There's also a 500 person limit.

Ok, I just tried to post a huge-mungeous message and the boards went down & took it with them! :furious:

here's the few things in brief that I remember responding to:

- Sunny, good luck with your doc today!

- The Swan is fabulous! Stayed there last year for marathon weekend

- I love surprise trips too! Gotta luv those SW DINGS!

Oh, I forget what else! Darn!

I made weight watchers 'goal' last night. I say that so blah-like since I feel I cheated by getting a note from my new doctor (to say my weight now is a healthy weight for me - been stuck here for a year). I am just thrilled I don't have to pay to go to meetings anymore! I am still going to try to get within ww healthy weight range.

I wogged Tuesday, but bailed on xt yesterday. I promise to somehow fit in my 3.5 miles today!

Sunny -- I think the pix are awesome! And the shorts look very comfy!
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for the walking slogan! It is so much better than I would have hoped! :lovestruc You are simply the best!!!
As for the pain in your back -- someone I used to work with had incredible back problems and resorted to an architect's drafting table instead of a desk. He was able to stand as much as necessary to work. I wonder if it might help for you to get one of those and a tall chair with a back (kind of like a bar stool with a back). We have that for one of our computer stations for the people who'd rather work standing up but so that they can still sit down (at that high counter), if they are going to be at that station for a while.
In any event, I am so glad you are seeing your NS today. Please be assertive and melodramatic if necessary. Do NOT allow them to put you off any longer. There is no excuse with today's medical advancements for you to be suffering like this.

Jodi -- How could we be disappointed in you? You are a nut, girl! Think of how far you have come in such a short time. You are a dynamo in my book, chickie, and I am always impressed with what you are doing. Now, don't work too hard. Be sure you leave yourself enough time to play. :teeth:

Christa -- What a riot about that lifeguard. But then again, I look at you in your siggie pic and think you look all of about 16!

Okay, yesterday was a rest day, but I was a day behind on my training, so I did my 40 minutes of xt by riding the bike (with a good book and great music, of course!)
Tonight is 40 minutes walking and then 4 sets of speed drills. Have to squeeze it in between work and a "meeting" between DD, her college roommate, roommate's mom and me to decide on room decor/furnishings responsibilities. A friend is giving DD a fridge and a microwave for her room as a surprise, so that is a LOT less expense to deal with, fortunately.

More later.

Oh, BTW, Dave -- DH and I spent 3 nights at WLV in a studio back in summer 2003 and I thought it was the most beautiful place I'd ever stayed. Let me know if you want me to check on the price of a studio villa for you with my DVC discount. We loved it there so much that we've decided to splurge on the Grand Californian after the DL 1/2 marathon, which looks to be similar in feel and decor.

So glad you got some answers and the solution seems to be easy. Hopefully it'll resolve itself quickly and your training will seem that much easier.

I count my blessings every day!! Keeping the secret is always the hardest part for me.

Sunny - Loved the pics. Your DD is gorgeous and looks so much like you. WTG on the 5k. I'm still praying for you as far as the pain goes. My heart really goes out to you with your ongoing struggle. :grouphug:

Christa - :wizard: for your knee. I hope a little rest does the trick. Have fun shoe shopping.

Dave- I didn't realize you were at Vistana and only doing 1 night onsite. WL is so nice and the ambience can't be beat. I am a Vistana owner, so I know you'll have a great time there with the family.

Yoga for runners class last night until 9:00 pm. On the treadmill at 4:00 a.m. today for an hour of running before my 6:15 a.m. advanced pilates class. I will be doing a full-circuit of weights today at lunch. I should drop from exhaustion sometime around 8:00 p.m. Definitely looking forward to a well-deserved rest day tomorrow. :confused3

Best of luck to all with any races or LR's coming up this weekend. Does anyone have a countdown for the DL 1/2?

Sunny - I am so sorry that you were hurting so badly.

Jodi - You won't hear a word from me. Didn't you read my last post. I haven't run in almost a week!!

Well. I at least did something. I got in a half hour run this morning. Let me tell you. I tried so hard not to go too, but the baby woke up at 7:30am and just wasn't going back to sleep, so I figured I might as well get out there and get it over with. And I feel so much better now that I have too.

Christa - Thanks for the PD seemed to help some. I at least got out (although about an hour late) and put in a half hour. Much better than the nothing I have been doing all week!!

It's all about the sitting.

Sunny - I am soooo sorry you are still in pain. Back problems are awful. I still get the sciatica and hip pain because I won't have the surgery or the shot in my back. At work when the pain gets too bad I get up and walk. If they don't like it tough! Next time please don't sit there in pain walk around when you need to :goodvibes :grouphug:

Hey Cool Sara! Do you own at the Vistana Villas or Vistana Villages? We got a deal in the mail when we got back from WDW last year for 5 days/4 nights for a 1 bedroom villa at the Sheraton Vistana Villages for $149, and they called me yesterday saying they just opened up dates for January. I paid $20/night extra to reserve a 2 bedroom villa for myself, DW, DD8 princess:, DD5 princess: and the cool Aunt. It looks pretty nice. I'd love to hear anything you might have to share about it...

Hi

My name is Cecilia and I am hoping to do the Disney Marathon with Team in training. I will go to the meeting next week, but I already kind of commited myself. I told my Dad I would run it in his honor. Yikes!, where was my guardian angel when that slipped out! Dad just had major surgery to hopefully stop the spread of cancer. Dad has been battling 2 kinds of lymphoma for 10 years.

I have run on and off (mostly off) for 10 years. I have also had 3 kids in those same 10 years. My youngest is off to First grade this fall and so I finally get some time for me. My husband is very athletic and I figure he won't make me go back to work if I am training for a marathon.

I can't wait to meet everyone! Hopefully we can all keep each other motivated and excited. We just did a DIsney Cruise and our friends from the DisBoards made it so much more special! I hope this will be the same.

I don't always ramble on like this.....

Cecilia aka:

Welcome Cecelia!! Love your screen name!!!

lol, many of us usually do ramble on like that! ;)

Have you been running lately?

Hi All,

Minnie-- I'm sorry you have been suffering this pain for so long.

Kristi-- That mooserun sounds fun, I'll keep it in mind.

I have a question about staying at the Swan, do you rent a car? You can't use ME if you stay there, correct? I think I could get the educator's discount with my MIT ID even though I'm not an educator. That would make it the same price as POFQ rack rate, but then I might need a car or limo service. Too many decisions....

Just back from the NS...
and as confused as ever. I got Dr. Fager, the one that my Dad said was really good but probably not practicing anymore. My Dad saw him about 20 years ago. He is still practicing and is very old! He told me in his 50 years of practicing he’s never seen a case like mine. He had me bend over, walk on my toes, walk on my heals, etc. I could do all of that but I kept telling him I wouldn’t be able to do any of it in the morning or evening and I can't sit down. He said that just doesn’t make sense; a herniated disc doesn’t pop in and out of herniation. He did pin pricks on my legs and found that I have very little sensation in my left calf (but its my right side that has been in pain for 10 weeks and the left just started). He was completely baffled that I can run and actually feel better after running. He didn’t belittle my pain at all, he just said it doesn’t make sense to him. And he said he would never recommend surgery for someone who can move in the middle of the day no matter how bad the pain was in the AM/PM.

So I don’t know where it will go next. He ordered another MRI. They lost my first one! (yes, I'm back at Lahey Clinic). But I’m glad because I think my spine is not in the same state it was back in the beginning of June anyway. So I go in at 1:45 AM tonight. But at least its right down the street and I can go by myself. I’ll see him again next Tuesday. He gave me another script for percocet to get me by until we know more. But if knowing more from the MRI still leaves a mystery I don’t know what I’ll do. He said what the other drs said, that these things more often than not do resolve themselves they just take time. UGHHH.

When I told him I've been running he said, "like 2 or 3 miles?" and I said, "no, like 6" and he said, "you can do that????" and I said "yes, but I'm pushing myself". He just shook his head and said again that it doesn't make sense. :confused3

But he told me not to run anymore until after he reads the MRI which will be next Tuesday. He said I can do "moderate exercise" like the ellliptical. Problem is; I don't know, have never known and will never know what the term "moderate" means. But I'll do my best.

Sunny

Thansk fro teh update SUnny! Witsh it was better news, but at keast he sound slike he's listening. Hope the MRI helps him figure things out. FYI - Woudl say moderates mean no more rowing too!!! I know it's hard when you've missed so much, but maybe you coudl stick to 45 minutes a day on the eliptical until Tuesday? Where's the pleading smilie? ;)

Cecilia - Welcome!!

Sunny - you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying that they will find an accurate diagnosis soon and can begin appropriate treatment. (and healing!!!!!!)

Today I rode 36.5 miles and ran 4. by the end, the temp was 100 w/ heat index of 104. I did better today as I tried a new hair style. I think my thick dark hair is acting like an insulator and when I start to sweat on my scalp, it just can't get any airflow through the ponytail and the sweat just gets trapped and gets hot. i can't cool my head off. today i tried 6 french braids and it gave me some airy spots on my scalp for air to flow. (that is just way to much about hair and sweat isn't it?) Anyway, that is what i did!

Sunny -- I am with Carrie on this one. I know how hard it is for you to do anything moderately, but it sounds as if this guy actually cares about figuring out what is going on with you. Definitely don't do anything to change the condition of your spine between the MRI tonight and when he gets to read it next week and give you feedback.
Remember -- the key is for you to be in shape to pull off the Goofy come January. Give your body the attention and care it needs now to get you to a place where you can train/condition. An elliptical sounds like an awesome compromise.
Sending you pixiedust: and :goodvibes: for some real information coming out of this MRI with a fast and painless resolution.

BTW, I LOVE the new walking styles on cafepress. Thanks for adding the apron -- that is what I am telling Howard I want for my birthday. Yeah, he'll think I've finally lost it! ;)
